Need a software keyboard with more keys! - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Themes and Apps

Hi all,
I am looking for an on screen keyboard that, as well as the QWERTY layout, also has the up/down/left/right arrow keys and a row of numbers along the top.
I often use the stylus and it would be great it I didn't have to keep swapping between 2 different layouts to get to the numbers.
I done a few searches but couldn't find what I was looking for, any ideas?
Ta

Reco Keyboard Pro. its the one I use for the same reasons as you... Has quite a few skins with numbers and arrows on them

And if you can do without the arrow keys this is a bit bigger and you can use your finger
I use the one it comes with which is just called Black which does the job..

*blink* What? Did you install it?
I myself would like to find either a keyboard or a ssh client that'll send Alt sequences.. I use control and alt on my *nix server for nearly everything I do and it's a real pain just with control, but I have yet to find anything that'll send an Alt (such as Alt-N, Alt-P, etc...)

My personal favorite is the Touchpal by Cootek.
I started using it so I had a 1-handed software keyboard for messaging, and now I use it as my main keyboard.
You can re-size it with a vertical motion on one of the tabs and go through multiple key sizes.
It has all 3 keyboard types built in , which you can transition to just sliding your finger horizontal. There is really good error correction and suggestive input, although I don't use them. However, it does have some extra tabs that are filled with useful buttons like arrows, copy, paste, home, end, etc...
Unfortunately though, it is not freeware - but for me it was well worth the price. You can try it free though, and the T+ layout remains usable after expiration (freeware).

Im not sure what your doing but I have the resco keyboard on all my WM devices and it has always worked. You hit the small arrow next to the input icon on the taskbar ( usually in the middle of the taskbar ) and select Resco Keyboard. To change the skins ( after you have installed them ) just select options from the same popup menu, then the options button under the input method choice box, select the skin tab and choose the skin.

[Q] My diamond has extra "+" icons in "Programs" tab.

First, I would like to begin by saying I have tried searching on both Google, and using the forum search provided here. If I missed something, please lead me in the right direction.
I have an HTC Touch Diamond in Canada from Telus. I have had it for about a month, and I must admit, it's beautiful! Anyways, I was flipping over to my Programs tab, and decided I was going to add a program to one of the tabs. I flicked up, and up came the next 9 "+" icons. (total of 18 icons, correct?). So I add the application to the icon, and it returns me to the programs tab. I scroll down, and what's this? I have an extra "+" tab (Total of 19 now). Each time after adding an application, another appears. Now, you might think this could be cool, and useful, but first off, you can't add any program shortcuts to these extra "+" icons... if you click on them, it comes up with the Add Program thing, and if you click on it, it returns to the program's tab, without the program. Secondly, they cannot be removed. If you delete one of the Program shortcuts that you added, the extra one does not be removed. It just stays there, and its quite annoying.
After playing around with the TouchFlo 3d for some time, it seemed to fix itself for a little bit, but as soon as I tried to add a shortcut, they added themselves again. A soft reset does not solve, and I really don't want to do a hard reset. I have .NET framework 3.5 installed, and I have installed a few applications (only after reading reviews, mostly coming from these forums, other than google maps). I have ROM version: 1.06.661.1.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Hind1
This is the Programs tab that i'm talking about

Easy fix. You need to delete a few registry keys.
Goto HKLM-->software-->HTC-->Manilla-->ProgramLauncher
You should only have number 0-17 (total 18). Delete anything greater than that e.g. 18, 19 etc.
Thanks for the quick reply!!
Worked perfectly. Awesome.
Thanks,
Hind1
Glad that's sorted my friend.
What a lot of people would want to know though, is there a way to actually add the extra icons and use them? It seems by editing the registry you can add as many as you want, but it seems to be impossible to use them. Being able to have more programs on this tab would be very useful!
Hmm... I never thought of that!
I'm sure it wouldn't be all that hard... I am not really a wiz with windows mobile, as I just picked this phone up about a month ago (my first windows mobile device owned), so I probably won't be able to figure it out, but if there's anybody who wants to try, that would be awesome!

BAF GPS Toggle works but needs visual correction, help!?

Hi,
I have been using BAF GPS Toggle for a few weeks now and it works great.
I am also using the HTC Touch Pro (see signature) which has VGA
Resolution: 480x640
Colours: 65536
The button/icon is small and the Today space is about half the space of other Today plugins/features. Thus I need my stylus to turn it on or off. The fonts are however regular size and thus cut off halfway by the size of the plugin. This means I am sometimes guessing... is that 1 satelite or 7... I'm sorry, I don't have the ability to do a screenshot as I am travelling. I suspect the issue could be solved if the (status) icon is larger for this kind of screen size. (guessing)
(Note I believe the HTC Touch HD has XVGA and its GPS performance could certainly use this plugin as I understand from their owners)
Performance:
Great! (I am using original ROM and Radio, see signature) It picks up satelites almost immediately and this overcomes the slow searching and fixing that other programs use. I've used a few GPS programs to test them out. Both regular car GPS software like Tom Tom and my favourite Route66 as well as off-road software like GPS Tuner... It works great with all and I would advice this clean (low memory) software to any HTC Touch Pro user... (even with the small sized Today plugin as it is)
www.baf.cc developed this and says he has no time to update a fix soon. Is there another way for us (HTC Touch Pro users) to fix this ourselves?
Anyone has a fix/suggestion?
Thanks,
How to adjust today screen to fit GPS Toggle program? (or reverse)
Hi there,
(note: After install, first use gives error 21 and won't activate. After it will work as it should, HTC Touch Pro)
Listen, Robert Ferris created a great little tool. I really use it all the time. However, as you can see in my screenshot it does not go well with VGA visually. It is really difficult to open and start with a stylus as the space is very limited and often I open an adjoining program/function....
As Robert seems to be busy I think it is up to us to make the necessarey adjustments. If I want to do that,... Where do I need to make adjustments, how can I change the today line to fit the text? Where are the images, so I can increase their sizes? And would that do it?
Not only would it make a solution, but it would be fun to learn to do this myself as well.

By the way, I am leaving China for Australia and am not sure how often and how quick I will have access to internet. So if I don't reply immediately you know why.
Thanks for your advice!
Does anyone know of a GPS toggle app for WM, that is not a Today Screen item like this one, but a simple executable file?
I would like to know this as well.
try spacer
use this to stop activating other plugins
Simple blank plugin to allow spacing other plugins on the Today Screen

and to get rid of the lines . . . . .
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today
add new DWord

Nice little program i thought up but i don't have the skills to make it

i have been looking around the net for this for a while a but i can't find what i'm looking for. i think it would be nice if there was a program that auto hid the on the screen such as the contact and phone buttons and the start bar on the normal phone screen and more or less the same ones on touchflo 3d for the reason if you wanted just see the calender and the call history on the touchflo 3d and the stuff on the normal screen like your widgets and then when you want to use the bars you could move your finger or stylest to the area of which they where and they would pop up and this program would be cooler if it also adjust the background picture to the size of the screen if it was to big to see the whole picture on the screen, so that you can see it. if it is too hard to put those two things i one program put them in separate ones.
Yeah sounds good. Maybe instead of hiding the icons and stuff just make them transparent and when your finger touches them they can light up or have the color for the icon come back?.. I’ve seen a few people working on making transparent clocks so I don’t think that should be too hard.
that is good but i wanted to make this so that you could see the whole background and the picture that is in my background
What you are asking for is pretty much already a reality in 2.1 and 2.5 Sense manila with the addition of Max Manila Mod.

With the different options in fullscreen. I'm currently running the latest Energy ROM he has remapped the home key to do what it is supposed to, bring you back to the home screen. With it in fullscreen if I press the home key it will bring up the topbar for a second or two, just long enough to be able to press it to get to the notification page. As far as pressing where the calendar or alarms tabs should be will not bring up the pages. You would have to either scroll to the options to turn them back on for a second or just go to the calendar tab. Alarms you can still get to by tapping the clock to get to world clock settings then just go to the alarm tab at the bottom.

SwiftKey keyboard
SwiftKey is like an English professor is alive and working inside your phone. It’s still in beta, but it’s already an amazing little application. What makes SwiftKey different is its ability to predict the next word in your sentence. Predicting the current word is so 2009! Of course everyone loves things that make our lives easier - things like correctly guessing what word comes next. My only issue (and it's a small one) is that you can't enter words that aren't in the dictionary by pressing the spacebar and moving on. You have to actually tap the word to get SwiftKey to enter it.
To sign up and check out the SwiftKey beta head over to SwiftKey.net. It's really polished for a beta, and to be honest I'm planning on using it as is until they release a new version. At the moment SwiftKey is English only, but the developers say that they plan to include support for all the Latin based languages in the near future. No word on availability and pricing of the final version, but by the look and feel of the application, it shouldn't be too far off. Keep an eye on their site for details, and be sure to let me know if you see it slip into the Market before I do!
Pros:
Amazing full word prediction
Easy to add to custom dictionary
Also predicts punctuation
Special characters are easily entered by long pressing
Cons:
Learning curve
Can be laggy when first starting up
Will always pick the word it thinks is correct, so be careful with the spacebar
File remove by moderator. If anyone wants it then download it through official channels such as Market.
very interesting thank you for sharing
are your app could use "return" key on messaging? im using htc magic and very frustated with htc magic messaging cause i cant press enter key
some way to quicly switch languages would be nice :\
My two cents: LOVE the design, not ugly at all (to me, anyway), it was never slow, ran perfectly on my MyTouch 3G, COOL haptic feedback adjustment (CM6 much? ), its cool to long press for "!" and "?" (among others), and the keys are easy to see and tap.
9/10!

No-fullscreen Landscape keyboard for TnT/TnTlite

I just found out that Smart Keyboard Pro has a config switch to disable switching to full-screen in landscape mode. This makes it work in landscape like original TnT keyboard - entry field does not cover the whole screen. This fixes one of TnT(lite) issues for me. Perhaps it could be useful to someone who needs a soft keyboard with support for other languages. Not sure if there are other/free keyboards which support such option, I decided a few euros is not that bad for a keyboard with so many options
Ultra Keyboard as has No Fullscreen Mode
Ultra keyboard has this as well, it also has some nice tools above the keyboard like selecting text, cut, copy paste. It also has cursor keys as well as trace(Swype) support. You can configure it to use trace mode all the time or on either portrait or landscape mode. I like to use it only in portrait, as the landscape mode means my finger has to do a lot of traveling. Trace is not as nice as swype, but works fairly well. The cursor keys included on both portrait and landscape keyboards make it fairly easy to correct any typos.
Yeah, Ultra has some really nice features, however it is unaware of non-latin characters, which kind of defies the purpose for me, I could type in English using TnT keyboard. If it had more languages I'd switch to it from Smart.
I am using the Ultra keyboard trial but haven't been able to figure out how to make it work full width. The tool bar is, but not the keys. What am I missing? Besides probably a brain

I've started using Thumb Keyboard, which costs $1.99 but which has a great split keyboard in landscape for comfortable thumb typing while holding the tab. Autocomplete was just added, but I'm not sure which languages it supports. It's in the Market.
It's not 100% ready for prime time, but I love having a keyboard like this. My thumbs were taking a beating trying to use a full-width keyboard. (Tiny girl hands!)
Thanks for the tip on Thumb Keyboard, I bought it and am typing with it right now. (It was only $1.33 for me fyi.) Much closer to what I wanted from the keyboard, now I can hit all the letters with my thumbs. The space bars are still a little far for my liking, but not too bad. App looks like it's pretty new, so hopefully it'll keep getting updates.

Oops, yeah, I think you're right on the price. But I'm glad you're using it! It's just what I wanted/needed, especially after ending up with my thumb in a splint after a week of heavy use of the default keyboard! This is much less of a strain.
