I back up all my SMS with Jeyo Mobile Companion 2.0
I'm sure there's likely a program like it out there, so I welcome suggestions.
My problem is this: after upgrading the ROM to WM6.1 on my Tilt, I restored my SMS, as I did the last update for WM6 was released.
However, while I love the threaded-sms feature, Jeyo restores my messages first in the Inbox, and then the Sent folder. So, when I open my conversations, I get my contact's SMS first, newest to oldest, and then all my replies, newest to oldest, which makes it all hard to follow.
It is not a problem with SMS sent after the back up.
Is there any software I can use so sort out the SMS so they're relevant in the threaded feature?
I'm so very sorry if this confused and/or frustrated any of you.
I'm a total n00b.
Any help will be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
I have the same problem with PIM Backup.. did you find a solution??
did you guys try advance config v3.3? Google it.
When you get it try turning off threaded sms, restore the messages, then turn threaded sms back on.
Hopes this helps
thx
It works thx

I've got quite a lot of SMS on my Kaiser, which ideally I want to keep. I've recently upgraded to WM 6.1, from the official upgrade. I backed up all my text messages, and restored them with PIM Backup. With the new threaded text messages in 6.1 it doesn't seem to work correctly with the restored messages - in my inbox if I click on a message I get a thread with all my sent messages, but not the received ones. Any ideas?
Also does anyone know a way of copying text messages from an SE k800i to a WM phone?
Thanks
I'm pretty keen to update to one of the newer ROMs (I'm using one of Dutty's from way back in March or so)
The problem is that I need to keep my SMS (and ideally my MMS) which are threaded. As I understand it PIM Backup 2.8 doesn't do threaded SMS and MMS - is there an alternative somebody can suggest?

I had no problem with PIM 2.8 and backup of SMS messages and textual part of MMS messages, from Threaded SMS app, but I have lost the pictures and sounds from MMS messages.

This question should have been posted in the kaiser general forum not the rom development forum. I know that you probably posted it here because it gets the most attention, but believe me when i tell you that most of the people who have the answers check the software and general forum as well. Having a lot of threads like this posted here just clutters this forum and makes it more difficult to keep up to date on the roms that are being developed. In addition, it is XDA policy to post in the relevant thread, and in the correct forum.
To answer your question hoever, I use pimbackup and i haven't had any troubles with it not restoring my attachments to mms messages.
Jeyo Mobile

You could use Pim Backup too.
Try Jeyo Mobile Companion. I used that to backup both call history and sms prior to flash any new ROM. The drawback is this software can't backup your MMS. In fact it causes program to crash when there's MMS with attachment in your inbox. Maybe can google around for "Jeyo alternative". Hope you could find one that's suitable for your needs.
PimBackup is for me the most suitable way. Very easy and reliable. Just search for it... I've about 4000 sms on my device, the backup takes app. 10minutes,
the restore about 30min.

Markus
ok i'll try pim backup. thx a lot guys
Hi all,
I have Tilt and I am very fond of messaging.
I was having a conversation through SMS with a frnd and when i was replying to one of his SMSs, all of a sudden hung a lil bit and all the SMS of his has gone.
Then later i checked, some people and sites who are regular with their SMS (3-5 SMS in day), those SMS are also gone but not the complete thread is being deleted.
I am not able to understand the pattern.
Is it like that each thread can contain only a specific number of SMSs.
And earlier i thought this might be a problem with my handset or s/w, but today one of my frnd who uses HTC 3400, had the same prob.
Kindly help. I had more than 1000 SMS in it.
Softwares installed:
SPB Pocket mobile shell 3
kaiser tweak
google maps
web cam plus
Regards,
Abhishek
while you are looking for a solution, i suggest you backup all your text messages using "pim backup"...search for it on xda
this way, you will have a backup that you can restore in case the situation gets worse and your device starts "forgetting" even more text messages
Yes, i am encounter the same problem too, where my sms been deleted automatically after soft reset my phone. Why it can be happen? any way to solve this?
Phone: Dopod 810

thanx buddy for the suggestion, but i believe ,anyones fate would not have fallen pathetically sick as mine. I had all the backups, but my hard disk also crashed.
anyways ..... still looking for a solution ... i believe theres a hidden bug in WM6.0 n 6.1
But it is hard to believe that no one till date has not escalated this issue.
Hope to find a resolution for it.
Cheers !!! (Hope if WM allowed us to)
Im looking to change the rom on my HD and see a lot of comments about the sms bug in manilla 2.1.
Im using Orange and from what iv gathered the bug affects Orange (and a few others). What exactly IS the bug and is it worth avoiding manilla roms 2.1 because of it?
seems to be related to the interface of SMS Manila where when You wrote a message, time by time the text still pending in the outgoing folder, so the sms is not delivered.
To bypass this problem, is what I have to do, is to replay directly to the SMS default page, instead of Manila interface...
I'm not to be sure that is clear, I really hope so...
Yes there is a bug in the Manila SMS application itself. You can either make a change and use the Windows default SMS application, use a different ROM with the older Manila, or live with it
you can't send 2 messages in a row to the same person, don't know is it only from manila or generally :/
hmm, i think it is how you sync ur contacts after flashing the rom. if you use pimbackup u will get the sms problem. however, if u sync via activesync, it should be fine. thats how i worked around the problem. hope it helped :]
I never had this issue and used activesync to backup contacts/emails
i've done it via Activesync, MyPhone, PIM, all options, without restoring old texts, with restoring them (again MyPhone) and got it every single time :/
