Network problems - WM6/6.1 - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 Windows Mobile 6 Upgrading

Ok, so here's the deal:
I have this nice HTC Himalaya (accu description label says PH10B).
I use it a lot, and I've used it in the past for calling and sms as well, no problems there. However, since I upgraded it to wm6 (or 6.1, doesn't matter), I get no network. Booting up it says nothing about no gsm, it tells me nicely what radio and protocol version I have, it just doesn't get any network. It does read the SIM, since I can read contacts and/or change/toggle the SIM password.
When I enable the Band tab on the Phone settings dialog (I use Schaps Advanced Config for this) it just says that it's 'Unable to change GSM/UMTS Band', and that I should try again later. This partially makes sense, 'cause I have no UMTS. However: when I 'visit' the Band-tab again, the GSM Band shows up empty (none of the available options is selected by default), so something sure seems to go wrong here. I'm currently using a different phone next to this device as my PDA, but I'd love it to work again...
Any thoughts?
Edit: Just so you know, I've used all radio ROMs I could find, just to eliminate that. I currently use a radio rom bundled with my own carriers latest official upgrade (I own a Dutch phone, my carrier ATM is KPN/Hi), but I'll be glad to try anything else if that'll make it work.

maybe stating what radio rom you have would help

Ofcourse, at the moment 1.16, but I'm flashing to 1.08 again, 'cause I read somewhere that one worked best with WM6. I'm flashing without my SIM in it, as that is the way to go as well. I don't expect it to work though, 'cause like I edited in my first post, it wouldn't work before, not from 1.08 through to 1.19...

Update: that radio ROM didn't bring any change indeed, so I guess no more network for my Himalaya... Luckily enough my Touch Dual is shipping this Saturday, so I'll be out of trouble by then. Sadly enough that does mean leaving my Hima behind, but not fulltime it's been with me from WM2003 through to 6.1, and maybe, just really maybe 7 will run on it too, and I wouldn't want to miss that

The link doesnt work for me faria. I just went to the ftp site and manually downloaded the rom.
I cant access the FTP site. It keeps asking me my usnername or something so I figure the xda login name right, but it doesnt work. Can someone upload it somewhere thanks
Thanks
Download works fine for me. Just put xda in for the password. I'll check it out and see if its a reasonable alternative for the 2.19.11 rom and my Cingular service!

Thanks, I finally was able to download it. One question before I upgrade. Maybe Faria can give his input. I am a T-mobile user currently on the 2.19.11 radio rom. This seems to be the best one overall for me since it allows both data and voice calls at the same time, there are no missed calls. But reception/signal is somewhat not good. Does this new radio give better reception for T-Mobile as well as allowing both data and voice?
Thanks
Great radio rom but isn't 2.69.11 newer then 2.40.11?
Well, right, it is newer most likely. The thing is, newer isn't necessarily better for each person's circumstance. Radios are tuned for particular providers in particular places and are usually matched with particular roms. However, in my case for example, with Cingular US service, and WM6 roms, my experience and that of many others is that the 2.19.11 T-mobile UK rom is the best. The others were inconsistent in alerting me to incoming calls and pending voicemails. However the data and sound was better with the newer radios. For me not missing calls was most important, so I stick with the older rom. But, this is a new one for me, and hope springs eternal, so I'll probably give it a try and see if I can have the best of both worlds like those T-Mobile guys.
Regards,
working well on farias "the real thing"?

From what I understand, 2.69.11 is the latest released German Radio rom, but 2.40.11 is a US released rom. So this may work better for US customers. I hope we can use 2.40.11 with WM6!
testing
in the midwest US of A baby.. smoke you!
Just installed it! I will post back my results.
Since I finally experienced the awful delay in SMS receiving on the 2.69 radio ROM (after several weeks of success, I missed 4 important text messages in an hour's timeframe), I'm game for this. Downloading now...
So far my signal seems to be much better than 2.19 radio. but only time will tell.

I too am now noticing a delay\lack of SMS\Voicemail Msg after WEEKS of 2.69 working like a charm. I thought I was one of the lucking ones but now I am not so sure. Who knows how long this has been happening. Anyway, downloaded and installing right now.
Working great on WM2005 .
thanx Faria .
by the way...this is a US radio.....sorry i cant name the carrier at the moment.
I've installed this on my Cingular 8125 on the Cingular network last night. I received a test sms and another SMS from a friend in a timely manner. All test calls I've put through have worked so far. I was even downloading a webpage with Opera and phoned in and the call came through. So far so good... Tomorrow (Monday) will be the real test when I'm back to work, but I'll try to give it a workout today.
thanks for the info so far and please continue to post information on this rom and its working with wm6
P.S.-Sorry for not being able to also post information but in what i do missing a call/calls or missing a sms/sms' would cost me alot of $$$$$...(so thanks for being guinea pigs...poor pigs lol)
First timer dumb question
Hi. I am running Nottoosmart's system with radio 2.19. Things have been pretty stable, but there are times when I've had to reboot in order to reacquire the phone carrier after sleep (e.g. softreset). Also, subjectively I believe I have some signal problems when in places where there is already a weak signal.
So, bottom, line, I am considering trying this radio.
But, I have never flashed a radio before and I'd like to avoid having this become a "federal project." So a few questions:
1. I can flash the radio back and forth (e.g. ->2.40, ->2.19) *without* touching the OS (e.g. wm6 rom/ram), is that correct?
2. There are several executables in the zip: EnterBootloader.exe, romupdateutility.exe, RUUGetInfo.exe; I realize there are tutorials ad infinitum posted here, but can someone help me save some time by letting me know how to install the radio, do I just run "romupdateutility" over activesync, or is there more to do?
Please don't flame. I am an engineer, just not experienced in burning radios to MDA's. I assume the radio goes into a portion of rom that is dedicated to the phone processor of the OMAP chip?

Hello,
1) You can flash the Radio rom without messing with the OS. All of your settings and files will not be affected. It does not require a hard reset.
2) Just run the romupdateutility.exe. It works the same when you flash a new os rom, it just takes a fraction of the time due to the fact you are only flashing the radio. I just connect via USB and let activesync do its thing then run romupdateutility.exe, the program will kill activesync itself.
I hope this helps.

How to fix Radio (3G) not working (voice calls, data)

My original HTC (Radio 1.27.12.11) never was able to recieve or create voice calls via 3G nor do any data transfer. Only GSM mode was working, but then for what reason I was going for the Kaiser ?.
Thanks to Pof's work on the HardSPL tool and Dark Simpsons "htc rom tool" and all others contributed to this tools, using the posted french ROM with Radio 1.27.12.17 and the rest from the original HTC rom I compiled a new ROM image.
With this Radio rom I just confirmed that 3G is now working using voice and data. All former 3G problems are gone.
Steps:
- Downloaded original HTC rom and French rom
- Using "NBHextract.exe" to extract the rom components.
- Using the "00_unkonwn.nb" from the french and the rest from the original HTC rom and compile using "htc rom tool" a new rom.
- Now using HARD SPL to install new boot loader and then just transfer the new rom using the original HTC upgrade package with the new rom instead the original one.

Just replace the rom in the HTC_WWE rom-installer with this one. Worked for me without any problems with Kaiser got from UK, but no warrenty
http://rapidshare.com/files/61052345/RUU_signed_WWE_1.56.405.5_22.45.88.07_1.27.12.17.zip
Update: After 24h using 1.27.12.17, problems just partly vanished
Looks like it was a bit too optimistic. Here are the results of 24h usage:
-3G voice and data are sometimes working. With the 1.27.12.11 it never worked with 1.27.12.17 it work for some calls / times and then 3G still looks like logged into the 3G-Network, but phone is unreachable. The phone needs to be switched off/on again to get it working. Then one call / data connection / incoming call is possible. After that darkness again. At least one 3G action is possible in comparion to earlier radio rom, but it is still far away from perfect.
It is an improvement but HTC has still to do a better job with the radio rom. Hope we will get an update soon behind 1.27.12.17

thanks, I'll give it a try in a few days.... as to warrenty - HTC appears not to honor warrenties, HTC US said "not our problem", HTC UK has not answered in over a week....
If yo can live with french try the french rom
... now I run for 24h with the french rom, no customization.
It is better then the HTC with the replaced Radio, posted above. I can call 3G, do data connections and receive incoming calls. It seems after 24h pretty stable. Therefore it looks like changing the radio is not enough and that as the french rom using a slightly newer OS then HTC original, there are some changes too included.
- Problem: Roaming between GSM and 3G, somtimes the phone needs 5 or more minutes to login into the network again after areas with no coverage. Completly different to the Nokia N95, which can handle such issues with no problem @ all
- About HTC service. I called them too and they tried to direct my to a service partner I should pay for getting my problems solved, that is very different to what I understand about warrenty too.
I would be really thankful for anyone who could produce a Radio-only flash available using the French .17 Firmware.
The stock .11 radio ROM is completely, I mean really completely useless for me. Any time I try to write a SMS, make a phone call or data connection my Kaiser immediately loses the connection to the network and I have wait for the phone to reconnect itself. I also cannot receive any incoming calls.
I remember that the first radio ROMs for the Hermes were terrible but this is even worse. Too bad because I'm really enjoying the rest of my Kaiser so far.
It is not only the french radio rom .17 ..
I have done lots of test and added above a rom HTC with french .17 radio stack. But there is more then then just the radio. It is better with the mixed rom, but still not good to use it as a reliable phone.
Best what you can do is using the french rom and you get a 50% chance that 3G works incoming and outgoing.
I'm rather new to creating my own cooked ROMs so I'm right to think if I want to upgrade my Kaiser to the .17 Radio ROM, the only thing I need to do is create a .nbh file from "02_Unknown.nb" and flash the resulting nbh file using CustomRUU and my Kaiser will not be completed formated?
I'm asking this because my Kaiser is now perfectly configurated and personalized and I don't want restart install all my programs, I just want to try the new Radio ROM because the current version is completely useless.
Thanks for any info
well disregard my previous post, I just successfully flashed my Kaiser with the new Radio ROM and hopefully I will actually be able to call someone with my PDA phone.
Hi all, first I have to say that I'm in Dublin Ireland using vodafone and have my kaiser for about 3 weeks now and the most odd thing about that would be that it has been working fine 3G and 3.5G when within good coverage. All of a sudden last sunday it just stopped working with 3G I believe that network provider just changed something with its settings but I can't be sure. I would love to see a radio update soon but since I don't believe in miracles I've been trying some temporary workaround just to be able to call and text. It seems that it enough to go to settings -> phone -> network and set the BAND TO GSM. This way it doesn't use 3G but at least I can use the phone. Hope it could help anyone there.
Thanks for the info, I'll try that eventhough the .17 Radio Update did improve network connection somewhat but it's still subpar.
FYI, I was last Saturday in Dublin, eventhough only for an hour, and of course I tried my Kaiser but the 3G data connection completely refused to work. This was when I still had my .11 Radio ROM installed.
So far I have tried my Kaiser in London, Malpensa, Madrid and Berlin so the issue seems to be rather ROM related than provider related.
you're right, it has nothing to do with the provider I was wrong. I took my card from Era Poland with roaming and turned on my Kaiser. On O2 I had two bars on HSDPA and that beautiful H letter on the top of the screen but not possible to make a call, send sms or whatever. Switching to gsm always works. I upgraded to .17 and it looks exactly the same as it was I see no difference at all. The only thing that bothers me at the moment is that for me it's been working fine for some time. I've been using 3g in Dublin and Warsaw as well and for some reason it just stopped I just hope it's not any hardware issue.
Is this rom posted on #1 a radio only or the whole thing?
I have the same problem over here. I have the Tytn2 for one month now. I had vacation and i took the plane at Amsterdam (Schiphol) to Tenerife.
When i arrived in Tenerife i get a 3G icon and cannot make calls and cannot internet. I had manually switch to GSM band. Now back in Holland with auto-settings i have the same problem again. With 3G i can do nothing (call/internet). Anyone any idea?
I have a vodafona abbo, my simcard in the old tytn1 with same settings works well at 3G. Soon i call with htc!
Same problem here with HTC Tytn II in Holland on T-mobile,
switched 3G to GSM and luckely I can use the phone now,
but I really hope there will be a fix soon!
Thanks!
Same on AT&T
I'm having the same problem with my tilt. I had the 3G before the flash but have not had it since.
same her in nyc ...tried both radios....3g doesnt work....help....please
A hard reset does NOT fix the 3G call/internet problem
When i switch the telephoneband from auto to GSM the phone get's connected at G and i can call. But i want videocall.
Please someone ? Defect or waiting for rom ?
I too am experiencing this problem. It happened overnight one night -- 3G will not connect -- neither voice or data, but GSM (edge) works fine.
I'm on ATT, HardSPL with Schaps 4.22 rom. It was working fine in this configuration, then suddenly stopped. Tried Hard reset (no help), and tried upgrading the radio to .17 (also no help). Next step is to try and revert to original ROM/Radio/Bootloader (per "how to restore to factory for rma thread") to see if that helps.
If anyone comes up with a solution, I'd be grateful.

Switching from T-Mobile to ATT? Help Please

I just got a Diamond last week and have been using it on T-Mobile in the United States, and it's great and all but I don't think I ever got Data to work... But that's irrelevant now, because my family just suddenly switched my plan to ATT after being on T-Mobile for 10 years, so now I need to switch my Diamond to an ATT network. I put the SIM card in, and the Diamond asked me if I wanted to change settings and I said yes. I restarted the phone, but I still can't get a connection, I have no service. Please help -- what should I do to get this phone going for calling and texting, and then switching my old number over? I'm not concerned about Data just yet.
Try running the Connection Setup wizard again. Mine worked fine on ATT after it automatically configured it.
Yeah I tried running it again, still nothing. Next to the little signal indicator, all I've got is the exclamation point. Do I need to somehow delete old settings?
One thing I've done after flashing and after the setup has run is change the following: Settings/Personal/Phone/Band -- Set network type to GSM, and band to UMTS(850+1900)+GSM(850+1900). I'm not sure if it makes a difference though, and I don't really know what settings the Connection Setup changes. Maybe the band settings will work for you?
That was the first thing I tried. I just got off the phone with ATT for 2 or so hours, and their solution was to visit a local store. I'm going to try this tommorow. In the mean time I'm stuck using some LG free phone

I just went from t-mobile to att.
i just popped the att sim card in and it configured it to att automatically. I also updated the rom which allows you to get a GREAT signal with att. Before the update ROM my signal was spotty. Where i got 1 bar i get 4 now.
Good luck ...it should work. But!!! no 3G....however its fast enough for me for what i use it for. IM very happy with my Diamond.

That's just what the setting says ... the last part of it (GSM 850+1900) is what gets used.
DrSilvermorm, you might want to try flashing the 1.93 ROM with the .05 radio. It'll only take you 15 minutes, instead of hours for the store. I went from 1-2 bars to 4 bars in some areas with the radio update, and my connection is more stable than it was in 1.37.

Umm, no, a setting doesn't "just say" UMTS 850/1900... The Diamond has been advertised with the new 850mhz GSM band, but everywhere it says it only has 900/2100mhz UMTS band. For there to be a setting for 850/1900 contradicts everything we've seen about the Diamond.

It was discovered a couple weeks ago that the Diamond is actually quad band, and that the original ROMs had simply locked the 850 band (for reasons only known to HTC). The first hint of this was the release of the 1.93 Hong Kong ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410720
The setting for GSM 850+1900 does in fact work.
Well, it only said this in my settings, I wasn't actually getting UMTS or GSM, for that matter. I went to the ATT store today and they were very impressed to see my Diamond the employee ran to the back to show his manager. I told them about my dilemma and they said that in Cincinnati (where I live), ATT runs exclusively on the 850 band.
I figured, duh, all I need to do is flash my ROM like so many of us have done to enable 850. I shouldn't have expected it to work, depsite what it says in my phone's settings, because I have yet to flash my ROM at all.
However, I am totally new to Windows Mobile and flashing ROM presents an even bigger challenge to me. All this talk about hardSPLs and cooked ROMS and .NET frameworks has gotten me very confused. I couldn't even get Windows Mobile Device Manager to install properly last week when I was on T-Mobile and trying to install some emulators, so naturally, I'm very frustrated . I'm very tempted to just sell my Diamond and go get an iPhone 3G, but I think I still have not lost hope yet.
Is there a comprehensive, step-by-step guide for flashing my ROM to a 850-enabled version with vista that anyone could point me to? This would be very very much appreciated! I don't want my $700 investment to go to waste so soon.
Edit: After using the excellent "search" feature of these forums (sorry forum veterans) I have found I promising guide that I will employ shortly, found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406968. I will let you know of the results when I am done. I think I am going to try to flash to the ROM that GeckoDev recommended, if I can find it. Thanks friends!

That's NOT my question! I'm 100% aware the ROM has unlocked 850mhz GSM, we've been over this a million times. But 850/1900mhz UMTS is for 3G, and I've never seen a Diamond working with 3G in the states. THAT's what I'm asking about, the GSM bands have never been a question.
Well Silverworm, good luck. If this is the site you found in that thread, this is the one I've checked out when learning how to flash ROMs.

Yup, that's the one, thank you. So far though I haven't been able to get past the Hard SPL step though. Every time I run the ROMUpdateUtility all I manage to do is soft-reset my phone and get ERROR: 260 CONNECTION on the utility. I can't get past 0% on the update utility, and it tells me I should check to see if it's plugged in. It is indeed plugged in, directly to my laptop, and not to my USB hub. It is even able to tell me what my current ROM is, so I don't see how it can question whether or not the Diamond is plugged in. What am I doing wrong?
I establish ActiveSync everytime I plug my Diamond into my laptop, but there was one note in the how-to guide that was peculiar to me: *Make sure the activesync icon is be green (finished synchronizing). On my windows vista business OS, I don't see an activesync icon in my system tray, even though I establish activesync everytime I plug in my Diamond. Is this part of the problem? If so, what should I do?
I've tried both Olipro's 1.20 and Des's CrashProof SPL. Both had the same problem. Also, I couldn't successfully enter the bootloader to check my SPL. The guide said to press the power, camera, and reset buttons at once, but there is no camera button to my knowledge. I searched on the forums and somewhere else I read that you just need to press volume down and reset, but for the few times I tried this this just soft-reset my Diamond...
As for your question about why it has 850 UMTS as an option as my settings, I have no idea, and I am sure it will not work because I can't even get the regular 850 band working. But this is what it says. If you really like, I can post a picture.
I tried searching in the forums, but I can't find anyone with my same problem. If this has already been resolved, a link would be very much appreciated.
I'm still having the same problem everytime I try to run ROMupdateutility -- all it does is reset my phone, then tells me error 260 -- that my phone is not connected, and that I should check the USB. Why does my phone keep resetting?
Again, I am using Windows Vista Business 32 bit, and the phone is plugged in directly through the laptop. Please please help, I really do not want to sell my phone, if I can help it.

I had a problem like this with vista. I went to start-> settings-> connections-> usb to pc (on the phone) and unchecked 'enable advanced network functionality'. Unplugged the usb cable and plugged it back in, worked like a charm.

I tried this, and it still just soft-resets. Thank you very much for the suggestion, though. Any other ideas?
Also still having trouble running the bootloader, how do I do this? Is it a crucial step, or only necessary for checking which SPL I have?

Japanese carrier: EM Mobile S21HT(HTC Touch Diamond)

Reposting this here as it seems to have hit a wall over on PPCGEEKS(link to original thread http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42102):
I'm wondering if I can use CDMA roms on this site with a Japanese phone? Hoping to flash a WWE version as my Japanese is less than perfect. I know that EM Mobile(sometimes e mobile) uses a 1700MHz band different than the one in the states, its WCDMA and HSDPA.
Asking because I see lots of Sprint/Telus specific ROMS, I'm not sure if thats just software or ESIM/etc related??
If it matters I don't need to switch providers, I just want to use this phone, on my current plan, with an English OS.
Cheers and thanks,
Alexander

So far they think I may have a GSM phone? I know EMobile (my carrier) operates on a 1700MHz band, using WCDMA with HSDPA(I can get 7.2Mbps with my Diamond), and I assumed WCDMA is a CDMA type phone, it also has the curved lip separating the screen from the hardware buttons (see attachment). It's got a smooth back (non-faceted, looks like a black Sprint Diamond basically). HOWEVER, it has a front-facing camera, which I guess is different than the CDMA version? Finally it has 192MB of RAM so it's not one of those stripped down 3702's...
The installed software is:
ROM: 1.73.881.7 JPN
ROM Date: 09/22/08
Radio Version: 1.04.25.04
Protocol Version: 52.36.25.21H
Related, another guy on this forum using the same carrier as me has got a Kaiser working with English ROMS: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=404499
It seems the Kaiser is GSM only, so I'm thinking WCDMA might indeed be a subset of GSM??
EDIT: Seems I do have a GSM model, based on this article: http://news.tigerdirect.com/2008/08/20/htc-touch-diamond-unlocked-gsm-smartphone/ :
This powerhouse runs on a Qualcomm MSM7201A 528MHz processor and Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system. It can connect to HSDPA and WCDMA networks and supports GSM, GPRS and EDGE technology.

Bump,
Should I retry in ROM development section maybe?
Emobile S21HT in English
Hi
I just flashed my new diamond to english (since I dont speak any japanse and had a hard time even starting the thing) using
http://modmydiamond.info/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=12&Itemid=26
unsigned hard-spl (signed did not work-got connection error, had to acknowledge something about boot-loader on the phone itself)
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Diamond_HardSPL
I did not upgrade radio
I used the ROM from Dutty 2.7 release
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=411707
so far all is running well, but i dont have the original GPRS/data settings in yet (could not read the jap. one) so I am now in research mode.
will let you know when I got data working, and any other issues
uggh
If you tell me how to find those on my phone, I can check them out before I flash. However im on the "EMB" network because I didn't sign up for the 315/yen a month SMS service (just using IMAP).
Well, I followed your lead. Flashing fixed my bluetooth keyboard not working with the blueinput drivers I bought, and since I bought this as a mobile word processor first and an internet device second, I am happy.
It would be nice to be able to connect to the network however...
Where do we put in our GPRS/etc settings?
I wrote down the following details before flashing:
Code:
MODEL: S21HT
Platform: PocketPC
IMEI: ###############(think this is an individual #, blocking it out)
GPRS: PAP
CSD line: Datarate 9600 bps(v.32), untransparent, SMS Service: GSM Priority
Network:
emb: emb.ne.jp
USER: em
PASSWORD: em
Still not able to connect... if you get yours working let me know
Got everything working. Had to change the phone settings to Auto-select network type(WCDMA/GMS) and auto select bands. HSDPA seems to be working too now.
As a last thing I would like to be able to type in Japanese with it using the standard IME, but for now I will be happy with what I have.
Cheers,
Alexander

Hi Alexander, I need some advise please.. I too have the emobile S21HT. I want to know after you did the flashing with english ROM, does the band selection includes other bands like 2100Mhz, etc.. not only 1700 Mhz? Because I know that emobile is using 1700Mhz only. Your answer will be much appreciated. Many thanks..
Jun
hey, Alexander
did you manage to send mms (email) from your emobile S21HT ?
I'm a novice in all this stuff, now trying to make Japanese ROM based on emobile device raw.

Hi Alexander
I also have a S21HT, wanted to know how you got the internet connection to work, mine doesn't work, is it the radio version, or is it the settings that I need to change.
What I did, was only changing the SPL to HSPL, and did a sim unlock, and now I can't get my internet connections to work.
Thanks
Jun:
I have full access to other bands after flashing with Dutty's. However to get internet working I had to change from 1700MHz and WCDMA to auto-select on both.
Zhura:
I can use outlook and have got it setup with 2 gmail addresses ausing imap and a school address with POP3. I chose not to register/sign-up for emobiles 315/yen a month mail service because i see no need using these their emobile address.. I am interested in how your thing goes, i'd like to get japanese input working in a WWE menu ROM.
Harry:
Once i set the bands to autoselect everything was fine. I did have to change the "comm manager" setting to "GSM mode" and after that everything worked. I didn't do a SIM unlock though, so maybe that has something to do with your problem.
Hey guys,
Those of you with the new diamond radio here in Japan. Any chance you can extract it for us? I am running on a Raphael here in Tokyo and would luv to try out this radio to see if it has any local performance improvements. I have tried all the other radios, none of which seem to work so great here in Japan.
Thanks,

I did a ROM dump following a guide, before I flashed. Not sure if that has the radio in it or not but I have the four Part01.raw/part02.raw/etc files if someone can extract the radio from them I can upload them somewhere...
Thanks musato.
I will try the dutty rom than, probably try the v2.9.
By the way did you manage to get a Japanese writter on your English rom??

I can give it a try. Not done one yet but I dont mind hacking around with it to get my hands on the radio. Can you put them on one of the standard file sharing sites that we all use? Or do you need an ftp? if so let me know and I will PM ya.
Thanks,
Will put em up on the wiki in about 7 hours when I get home.
I got a form of Japanese input working, using the Ookii stuff, but it only lets me input using handwriting recognition, and it almost never works with my bad handwriting. Also, although I can input text, in emails/on the web all I get are boxes and [email protected]#$ signs where there should be Japanese characters. I tried switching the encoding, but Japanese is not an option.
Still hoping to get the original wm6 japanese ime installed via a cab or something. Maybe it can be extracted from the rom files I'm uploading later?
Musato.
in ref to the input.
give this a shot
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2850783
I did something similar to get it working on my TP. Also, I use the windows vista font for japanese its a little better you can copy it straight over.. called meiryo..
cheers
Thanks for the reply; will try that out later when I have time.
Upload is running now, in the Diamond section: HTC Diamond JPN EMOBILE ROM.rar only goin at 30K/s, should be done in an hour or so. I don't know what version it is cause I forgot to check before I dumped it and flashed dutties.
Cheers

Hey Musato,
I tried the V2.9 Dutty, it's working great, just I wasn't able to choose other bands. Choosing other bands meaning, I could not use another carriers sim card on this diamond.
Well the other thing is that the camera is not working well, can't take any pictures....
were you able to choose other bands, with other carriers? eg softbank using 2100mhz
Hi Musato,
Sorry, I might be going blind. Checked recent changes on wiki, searched the ftp sight under Diamond and uploads and dont see where the Japanese rom is. Could you let me know.
Thanks
I can't find the ROM too....
Will it be possible to post a link to it,
Thanks

ATT Tilt- possible radio problems, total noob needs help

Hi guys, I really did search first, I promise. I have been having connectivity issues (not making calls, lost data connections, etc...) since I updated to the ATT Official Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM (3.57.502.2 WWE) with radio version 1.65.21.18. I am trying to determine if I need to upgrade my radio version. I found the thread with all the radio versions for my phone but don't know anything about them. I did get that I should try different ones until I find one that works for me. So do I need to install the HardSPL on my phone (or did the Official ATT rom upgrade do that already)? From there do I run that RUU.exe file on the desktop (or what)? It would be great if someone could put this in super simple terms for me.
Thanks in advance,
-Max
one word for your info, "WIKI"
I did look over the wiki for some time, here is my hang up. Jockyw2001 posted in an SPL thread that "SPL3.56 is part of the latest AT&T Rom which is dated June 6. 2008" So since I did the official ATT upgrade and my ROM date is 07/17/08, does that mean that I already have SPL 3.56 on my device? I can not find a post about how to determine what SPL version (if any) is installed on my device. If SPL is already installed, is there any danger in installing an older version of SPL or reinstalling one?
Thanks again
-Max

So you are saying that the stock rom and stock radio are not working correctly, no cooked roms or other carrier radios?
Did the problems start right after you updated?
Oh and your problem seems similar to the one in this thread here, well least is sounds similar to me anyways...

Yup, stock radio and rom as suggested by ATT, whom their customer service now claims they do not support WM6.1. I've never used a cooked rom and really only come here for device information and applications. I did have problems before I upgraded the rom but they have much worse since. The thread you posted is similar but they mostly talk about an "H" connection. I am in the DC metro area (USA) and get 3G all the time now, I wonder if that is part of the problem, I never get an EDGE network signal anymore.
Well... I just found THIS buried over on the ATT support forums
Clp1970 01-21-2009 10:33:16 AM
I guess we just got 3G network here. I haven't been able to make/receive calls for 5 days now. Tech support supposedly looking into issue. My phone switches bewteen 3G and EDGE constantly. Anyone else having this issue? What was the resolution? I don't want a refurbished Tilt if they can't come to a resolution (why would I want the same darn phone if it doesn't work well with 3G as advertised?) I have already drove 20 minutes to the nearest store for a new SIM card..which did no good. There isn't anyway of turning off 3G network unless I install software I have seen mentioned on this forum and well, I don't know about that...I paid for this phone to do what it said, and it isn't.

And this is the reply to it over there....
tilteduser 01-21-2009 08:42:13 PM
Common problem that can be either due to problems with the rollout or that the local towers cannot handle 3G as effectively or at a greater distance as the same tower could for Edge. These are some related threads and posts but there are a lot more. As noted in these posts if there is a local AT&T store run by AT&T then you might pop in and confirm some of the problems with them.

The tendency is to blame the phone but the reality is often different and that includes from customer support who offered to swap my phone several times but this obviously would not work because it affected many other users as well differing phone manufacturers and models.

Timing of it is close enough to make me wonder, but I had been using HSDPA.. But I have been getting the same problems you are talking about when the phone is set to 3g as well. The other thing that is starting to make me think its something ATT did to their network is that the OP from the thread that I linked on here lives 20 mins west of my location, and I am 15-20 mins north of DC... I may go to one of the local att stores and see what they have to say (tho that means for me that I get to flash my phone back to the stock rom )
