s730 keeps connecting to gprs - HTC Wings

Hi!
Im new to this forum and just got my first HTC (and WM phone).
How do I let the phone use wifi instead of gprs? I have configured my own wifi and connected it but still the phone insist to connect via gprs (deleting gprs settings is not an option here).
Other issue is that windows mobile center doesn't recognize my phone. Windows (vista 64) will install everything smooth but mobile center just does not recognize the phone (tried with usb and bt and two different computers).

Ok, resolved how to disconnect the gprs. Still have the 2 problems left, how to make the wifi priority and how to connect to windows mobility center

I had the same problem and I just erased a the grps data configuration...to be sure that i'm always using a wifi connection and not a gprs connection!

but erasing gprs it not an option because I use it regularly

Connected to Wifi but cannot use Internet

Hi:
I have the HTC-branded TyTN II and I can connect to my Wifi network just fine, but none of the applications can access the Internet through this connection. The connection status shows as "connected" and the phone shows up in router's DHCP table. Does anyone have a solution?
Thanks in advance!
Try moving the WIFI power saving mode to the left: "Best Performance".
Don't know if this is "too obvious" but have you set the DNS lookup address?
oh man! another unlucky soul...like me
dont worry buddy, you are not alone in this "wireless problem" as i have an HTC Touch and unfortunately i have Windows Vista Home Premium installed in my laptop which has damn wifi.
same as yours, my HTC connects to the wifi i made in several ways with Security and Authentication Enabled in every way i can and also last with Open Authentication and Security as NONE
my network shows that my wifi is connected to my HTC but only LOCAL, which means you cant access internet, and strangely also, the wifi network is labelled as Unidentified Network, when the WIFI i made is given a solid name, like WIFY.
i checked out my HTC Touch with a friend who has Windows XP installed in his laptop and damn....i can browse as well as chat in Messenger, while being connected to his WIFI.
So i will tell you these by experience:
1st: its not a problem with your HTC TyTN II, so dont subject it to forced connection, like messing with your settings all day long while you try to connect it. cos simple truth is you cant (i m assuming you have windows vista as well)
2nd: its been like my third nite, with "vista+wireless connection+unidentified network" searched on google.
and somethings i came across, but didnt fix my problem includes:
> disable IPv6 from your NIC
> assign a MAC address filter to your NIC (Vista by default has Network Address set to Not Present, which can be found in your LAN Card > Properties > Advanced Tab)
And even my assumption that you're using Vista is wrong, let this be an INFO to other users here as well.
Damn, i m getting back to Windows XP!!!!!!!
So if you think your WiFi card needs a checkup or try these solutions i have mentioned, try google....its a saviour for all gadget dudes like us!!!!
Just to try and give a fuller picture - I have no such problems
I have a desktop running Win XP Pro, a laptop running Vista Home Premium and my Kaiser. All are connecting wirelessly thru a router using WPA encryption and using IE, Firefox for browsing, SMTP/POP3 clients for email and MSN. They are also connection to each other - desktop, laptop and Kaiser - no problem on any of them.
Yeah, having Vista on your network should be no issue with regards to connectivity of a device to a wi-fi network. However, having Vista on the network may make the vista computer invisible on the network map and make it unavailable on the network if you are using XP based computers as well. Not too sure about other Windows versions or different OSs. This is because the Link-Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) Responder component is not installed on the Windows XP-based computer. The patch to install on the XP based rigs is here. I ran into several networks with this issue and have cleaned them up with this patch. I even keep it on my Cruzer because I have seen it so much.
I know this doesn't help with the original query, but I wanted to ensure ayyum3 and cv2k3 know that Vista in the network will not affect any outside device's connectivity.
To the 2 fellas who are having this issue... are you using a software, or have you enabled the locking out external devices from connecting to your network? Also, have you ensured your wireless router has proper internet connection? To see the network yet be unable to access the internet leads me to believe it is a router-modem connectivity issue (albeit a simple IP addy issue, or a cable issue).
What kind of wireless router you using? Is it using the latest firmware for it?
Are you able to connect other wireless devices to the said router?
Are you able to connect your TyTN to some other AP (ie neighbours, cafe, starbucks, etc)?
did you try setting your wifi power mode to best performance
This was happening to me recently after I replaced my router...I ended up changing the channel the wlan was using from Auto (it was setting itself at channel 6) to channel 11. Channel 1 also worked. The other thing I did was disable the wireless speed enhancement features on the router. Now I can connect and surf with no issues...
I dont know what all that was about a vista pc but the OP's problem (from last november) would no doubt be that he had not set the wifi connection to connect to "the internet" or his device was set to use a network proxy for all connections.

RNDIS On Windows Mobile 6

Hi,
I have a basic question on how to use RNDIS interface in my Kaiser.
As per my understanding, as soon as i connect the Kaiser to my PC, i should see NDIS interface in the Network connections. Am i wrong here?
Or How do i use this feature?
Cheers
PS: I dont know if the following are relevant, but FYI:
1. I have had problems with ActiveSync - Retrieving settings screen forever when i connected for the first time, So i unchecked the "Enable advanced network functionality" in Start->Settings->USB to PC screen.
2. When i try Internet Sharing application, it works perfectly fine. If i am connected via Activesync, it first disconnects and then connects me to internet (via Local Area Connection of 10 Mbps speed, Cool, eh?)
Any comment on this??

[PROBLEM] Windows Live Messenger

hello there,
When I try to run messenger with only the normal phone radio active G (not 3G) it doesnt work. When I plug in my USBcable, it also works. It also works over WLan. (wich I guess is WiFI)
Im on the Dutch 1.93 Rom. Msn Version: 10.6.0039.1300
bump
still haven't figured it out..
i'm in the opposite boat... cant get it to work over wifi...
stupid thing... i can browse net using opera / IE but it tries to use GPRS when i have a good wifi connection!!!
Newer Windows Live always tries to connect using your default Internet Connection even when you are already online. To solve this, you need to go to:
Start->Settings->Connections->Advanced->Select Networks. Change everything to My Work Network.
With this, Windows Live won't try to connect when you have active internet connection. The problem now is, if you have no active internet connection, it will force your device to connect to your gprs/3g but will fail to work. You will need to reset the setting above to your gprs/3g connection.

RQ: How to stop GPRS / How to activate ActiveSync again ?

Hello.I'm looking for a program which have to stop totally GPRS using. There are many programs which use GPRS by default and GPRS costs me a fortune. Is there a program which turns off GPRS entirely ?
Thank you
Sorry for my english,Im still studying it.
I've found a program, but I can't try it.After I removed WMWiFiRouter everytime when I connect the phone to the PC it recognizes it as Windows Mobile based Internet Sharing Device and ActiveSync can't connect to the phone. And the phone no more shows me the menu to choose if I want to connect to the PC through ActiveSync or (I forgot the other) and it appears Internet Sharing program.Help.
Can tell me how to restore my previous type of connection? Thank you in advance.
There is a program called nodata that will allow you to select and disable your GPRS connection. I haven't used it, but it seems to be pretty popular.
Thank you,but I have this program already,as I have written.I'm looking for a solution of the other problem that I've described previously in the topic.
Edit: I don't know exactly what I've done but I fixed it.
I've the same problem (getting no active sync anymore but internet sharing device) so maybe anybody knows how to solve it?
why don't you guys try kaiser tweak, i believe it's got some options for disabling and enabling gprs and activesync. http://www.jongma.org/KaiserTweak/
I've solved it. on my phone at least: i activated the internet sharing via bluetooth, connected, dosconencted. set it to usb and connected and disconnected again and after that active sync worked again....
but thanks for the tool, i'll try that out, too. (maybe there are some other interesting things, too ;-) )
Connecting and disconnecting worked for me too

really strange problem with diamond

Hi guys,
i've this strange problem - when my diamond is connected via usb in my PC with windows vista x32 I connect it via device center .. everything is fine BUT ... when I remove the cable (disconnect the device) my internet connection brakes and the internet disapears, and I have to diagnose and repair it after every disconnection of my device .. how to fix this problem
check the options in active sync or wmdc in control panel, one of them has sumat to do with sharing the internet connection with the device, mess arround with it see if it changes anything lol
i'm not saying that I don't have internet on my phone - the connection is fine - there is internet and anything via device center. The problem is when I disconnect the phone from the pc , then something happens with the connections in network and sharing center and the internet stops at all . I have to reset the internet connection on my PC to run internet on it again.

Yeahhhh, wot im saying is when you sync your diamond with your pc it shares ur pc broadband connection, this mite be causing the trouble (firewall issues ect) you can turn this off so your diamond still maintains is own data connection, therefore your pc's connection should be untouched .....
