cool
so i pought my phoen from ebay, is on orange.
will be getting hopefully tomorrow.
So first things first, i need to unlock it to work with my sim.
Once i have done this i need to put on the latest rom. Question is which one, as there is not one for three uk?? Do i just use another rom and manually change the internet settings etc so it works with three.
Is there any process i have to follow, or is there any easy way to get it set up with all three uks settings
these are the setting i have

This application should (which Runs from the PC) should put all the Three settings and others you need) if the auto configuration program does not pick your SIM up.

I don't think you need to update the radio but v1.00.25.05 is recommended
You can find it here Diamond Radios

What advantage is there to using this if your phone has automatically configured itself? Does it optimise the settings?

Can anyone get their cingular internet (edge) to work?
yea.. i did. you just have to extract the files from the Cingular EXT Rom. It includes a CAB to enable Edge and the Edge icon.
*In the attached EXT ROM, Signed_Edge_Icon is the Icon itself, and EONs is the cab that actually enables Edge. Install EONs first then the icon.
~Stefanelli~
Thank You !!!!!
Okay, I installed both like you said and it still does the same thing. When I click on IE, it says it can not connect with current connection settings. To change your settings, tap settings.
Is there a setting I still need to change? How do I access the edge icon you were talking about that.
Have you tried running this cab file?

am I supposed to do something after I install the cab file or is it supposed to work automatically?
You have to make sure that you have the correct settings in!
Go to Connections, then to advanced. Tap 'Select Networks'. Create a new connection profile, name it MEdia Net.
Then tap Modem and tap...
Create New
(name it Cingular)
Enter a name for the connection. From the "Select a modem" drop-down, select Cellular Line (GPRS).
Tap Next.
In the "Access point name" field enter wap.cingular.
Tap Next.
Verify the following profile settings, then tap Advanced:
Username: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
Domain: Blank
Verify the following settings and tap Ok.
Use server assigned IP address: Selected
Use specific IP address: Unselected
Use software compression: Unchecked
Use IP header compression: Checked
Tap Finish.
Tap Ok.
Give that a try.
Just so you know... Those settings are for Cingular users... not AT&T... so if you are AT&T tell me and I'll give you settings for that... but what you have said tells me you are Cingular. Hope I've helped.
I am cingular.
okay, when i attempt to connect to the internet, it says the answering modem has disconnected. to check your connection settings, go to settings...bla bla bla.
Is the password "CINGULAR1" was the 1 and caps typo?
no it should be caps and there should be a 1 at the end.. the settings i gave you are directly off the cingular support site.. so they should work..
-Stefanelli-
Oh good GOD, I was the one with the typo. I was typing WPA (like the encryption) instead of WAP. Thanks for the help. I'd buy you a beer if I could
If you simply run the cab that golfernutnflorida posted all those GPRS settings are there.
I'm on Cingular and I'll be damned if I had to put those settings in by hand the numerous times, sometimes daily, that I flash a new experimental ROM!
In other words, I keep that exact cab on my SC.
Exactly! The less I have to put in under a Rom Flashing, the better.

Hi,
I've got a french V1615 by sfr and an "illimythics" data plan.
I try to connect with palringo (http://www.palringo.com/)
but the connection is impossible.
I try to change the registery settings :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Parlingo/Settings
"Connection/Proxy/Host" : 195.115.25.129
"Connection/Proxy/Port" : 8080
"Connection/Proxy/Type" : 1
but i still got the " connection loop " problem.
Do i have to change the user agent ?
Opera mini works fine
thanks in advance for you'r help

Hi there,
I think you shouldnt set "type" to 1 (it means HTTPS)
Which I don't think is correct for SFR Proxy
Give it a try with type=0, and let us know how it works.
(comment based on http://forum.palringo.com/archive/index.php/t-64.html)
You may also find these (currently undocumented) registry settings useful:
Connection/Proxy/Host - The hostname for your proxy server
Connection/Proxy/Port - The port for your proxy server
Connection/Proxy/Type - 1 for HTTPS proxy
(all settings have string type)
This will allow Palringo to tunnel it's traffic through an HTTPS/SSL proxy.

re. The password: this will be obscured in future versions. Note, however that the settings are stored in HKCU, which by default is not accessible to other users of a shared system

thanks
It works now just by switching from 1 to 0.
gtalk is working like a charm
thanks again

I'm sorry to bump this topic again, but i need some help!
I'm using a limited connection as the one you've mentioned, it's an Orange network in Israel.
I use this proxy : 192.118.11.56:8080
Unfortunately this trick and registry change didn't work. I always get the "Reconnect pending" message.
I also tried to change the value of the proxy type to "0" as sebbes suggested, but nothing :S
I think that this WAP proxy is HTTP and not a secured HTTPS one. Can this be the reason for not working?
I'd like to hear suggestions on how to make this work.
Thanks!!!

You have to add the values manually
I recently attempted to move from my AT&T Stock ROM, but connectivity problems resulting from using a Cooked ROM had me give up and return to the WM6 stock ROM.
I am wondering if anyone out there has, or could, create a CAB which would basically store the network settings from the AT&T Stock ROM (MEdia Net, wap.cingular, etc), which could then be run on a cooked ROM to duplicate and install those settings?
Is this even possible?

Thanks
Denco,
Not sure why I would need to read the radio thread again, but thanks for the link. My problem here was not my radio (I had used both the one which Dutty included, and the xx.xx.xx.20 as well), it was the settings built into the Dutty Hybrid ROM. It had MEdia Net for some things, MY ISP (with isp.cingulair set), for others. It may have been the radio which always triggered an internet access even if WiFi was on, or a bug in that ROM. Regardless, what I am looking for here is unrelated to radio; but, again, pushing people over to the Ultimate Radio ROM thread is always a good move
BTW, please note that I loved the Dutty ROM. I think it is fantastic. It even offers to install "AT&T Settings" ... it just then does them wrong (at least for the US) This is in NO WAY a slam on Dutty or his ROM. This is just an unfortuante consequence of using the ROM (even with the offered AT&T Customizations) on AT&T.
Thank you very much for the CAB. Is there any place which explains what it has or does? As mentioned, I would love for it to just hammer back all the AT&T connectivity settings to override "incorrect" settings cooked Roms.
why use a cab when you can use your eyes and read at&t's site on how to set those settings up. when you do it enough you tend to memorize it as well. a lot faster waiting to find a cab
Sigh
dyetheskin,
Thanks for your response, although I am not sure how it helps. However, I will answer you.
Because installing a cab is probably less time consuming that attempting to pound through pages and pages of settings and numbers such as the following (which is probably NOT correct, and certainly does not say where each setting is ... its just an example)

I've used this cab in the past on a WM5 Smartphone and a Treo 750. I think from memory it's off iMate's website. Worked a-ok for me. Much easier than trying to type in the settings (when you can find them).

Not enough info in your original post. You just said " a cooked rom " . Many phone and connectivity problems have to do with people downloading roms with no or incompatible radios. The lack of information sounded like this was the case. Hope at least the cab helps
WIKI
Denco,
I was recently told I should do my part and update the WiKi. I now have TWO cabs from this thread. While I have no idea if they work, I will try to figure out how to update the Wiki with them. I will likely fail
No worries on your message, but I do hope my response did provide an answer. There are just far too many settings to do by hand; much less multiple times on each flash!
Combining a cab with Bengalih's wonderful Sashimi program would allow you to automatically reinstall the real AT&T settings!

It is easy to do, and the instructions are provided. Ask _Alex_, P1Tater, or AllTheWay,or one of the other Mods for help, I'm sure they would assist.
I did it
heres is the best one and it works with medianet and myisp. it came from alltheway.
I have tried this one, and it did not work for me...

BE VERY VERY, VERY specific on how. I really like this Duty rom, but I can't use it if i can't get this.
- - - - - -
Sorry about multiple posts.
I was able to resolve my issue, i think.
What i did was hard reset after getting the Duty Rom. After the connection wizard configured my phone for ATT i went in and changed "ISP GPRS" to use wap.cingular instead of isp.cingular...
IT WORKED.
not sure if it will help others.
Hi,
I've got ROM 1.38WWE with the current Telstra pre loaded software on the device. Everything works fine, included autoconfig and some other tools posted on here, (many thanks for them!)
What I can't do is edit the internet connection setting, the device says "this connection is pre-configured. It cannot be modified"
The reason I need to modify it, is to add a setting that will setup my direct push technology, so I can wirelessly sync with an exchange server. On the imate, once you add this setting everything works fine but here I cannot do it?
Any suggestions?
You will need to install a registry editing software, I used PHM RegEdit.
Once installed use the find function on "Telstra Internet"
and set the ReadOnly value from 1 to 0
It will be somewhere in :
HKEY Local Machine > COMM > ConnMgr > Providers > Random String eg. {7C4B7xxx
> Connections > Telstra Internet
Edit:
What setting did you need to change? i didn't have to change anything for my setup of exchange synchronisation on my Telstra TD.
I did notice however that I couldn't access pop3 and live messenger on the default proxy, having instead to change it to 10.1.1.181 - this allowing telstra WAP access/internet browsing/pop3/live messenger/exchange, but the Touchflo weather app has been "intermittently" working since... still nutting that one out.

Honestly you best bet is to drop the Telstra Rom and load Duttys rom.
You wont look back....
I have an unlocked T-mobile MDA Compact Iv (aka Touch Diamond) which is now on O2 with a web bolt on. I've configured it as per the instructions from O2 but I can not get the internet to work.
If I select IE, input a web address it says 'cannot connect'.
It does come set up with T-Mobile Web N Walk and when I go into connection settings it says T-Mobile Internet 'this connection is pre-configured and can not be modified' but it does allow me to add a new modem connection (which is what the O2 instructions say to do).
I'm guessing its trying to use the pre-configured T-mobile settings. How can I get it to use the new O2 connection I've just set up?
try this (see attached cab) it from my o2 ignito!
there is a cab on the forums somewhere ! i cant rememer the exact name its something like "setup operator" or "operator config" just do a search
oh yeah im assuming yopur in the uK with that cab
You may wish to look at the link in my signature if you're using the HSDPA (3G) connection from o2 UK.

Thanks. Can I install that straight on to my phone. Its still running the original T-mobile themed ROM. Should I back anything up first or will it just install a new app (which app is it).
I've found this on the forum -
Advanced Configuration Tool 2.1.0.0 [cab, 396 KB]
http://htc-diamond.sosref.com/downlo...ol_2.1.0.0.cab
Was this the one you were refering to.
dont bother with that cab just tried it on mine ! installs but doesnt work
the other point, No im not refering to advance config! i wll try to look for it again! in the meantime may be some else can find it for you
Managed to get it working.
If you go into Settings-> Connections->Connections
It say 'T-Mobile Internet. This connection is pre-configured and can not be modified'. You then have 'My Work Network' which is were I added the O2 settings but this wasn't working.
If you click the Advanced Tab and then 'Select Networks' the first question is 'Programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using -' and there is the choice of T-Mobile Internet (the default) and my Work Network. By changing this to 'My Work Network' it will pick up the O2 connection I have added under Work Network getting round the pre-configured T-Mobile settings.
