bittorrent program to Diamond? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hello.
Where can i download a program like utorrent or azureus to my HTC Touch Diamond // Windows mobile edition 6.1?

is there any point? you would just get billed thousands from your operator for data charges.
even still, i have no idea.

I Could see some validity in this..
Suppose you had an unlimited data plan, you could download files you need on the move.
However you wouldn't want to download large files as this probably would kill your battery, even worse if you are using WiFi.
If you still want a such a program, try this one: http://www.adisasta.com/wmTorrent.html
A simple search in Google for 'bittorent for windows mobile' brought up many programs.
Hope this helps

the downloadrate of diamond is to slow. 200kb....

Regrettably "unlimited web" rarely means just that, theres usually a "fair use" policy applied to you contract so down loading torrents would reach that very quickly. 02 say your data use must not harm the quality of service for other customers.
Ady

"02 say your data use must not harm the quality of service for other customers."
> If it does harm quality of service for other costumers, it just means their network is crap

P2P and Voip are often forbidden by operators (for exemple Orange and O2) even with unlimited dataplan...

Indeed, I'm not allowed to use VOIP or use it as a modem for a laptop or PC. P2P however..

WM6 and ATT Data Usage

Does anyone know how the new WM6 upgrade is going to affect the Treo 750. With WM5 we could use the BT DUN and not be charged for an upgraded Tethering plan (I used Personal PDA Unlimited plus 1500 messages Bolt-On). I know with ICS some other members are saying it's going to be monitored and charged differently. I would love to know!!!!
I copied this from another forum.
The ATT upgrade does NOT include Windows Live (not really sure why) and they've also locked down the Internet Sharing application such that you cannot tether a computer unless you pay $15-20 more for a 'tethered' data plan. The unbranded version is not crippled in this way. I haven't seen this addressed anywhere else in this forum. I am wondering if this can be tweaked or corrected, or if I am better off just using the 2.23 ROW unbranded version instead. Peolpe seem to like the AT&T 2.25 a lot. Does creating a "Vanilla" version eliminate the situation???
I updated to AT&T 2.25
Didn't see much change, maybe slightly better battery life. Though it is a newer version the calls sounded the same, same performance...
I ended up just switching back to ROW 2.23 because of windows live. I may try the Rogers rom, after some more feedback
just pulled the ethernet wire off my laptop at work, and started internet sharing on the phone. Got 792 kbps download and 269 kbps upload speeds. seems tethering is not restricted with the official 2.25 ROM...

But the question is, are you paying for the tethering plan? Or do you have the basic data plan?? I don't yet have a data plan, but it is my understanding that the use is not restricted, but the tethering is not allowed on the basic data plans with 2.25
Good question. We shall see when I get my next phone bill. I'm not sure but it seems like they don't charge you because it wasn't on my last bill.

I just copied this from the Palm web site for the new ATT 2.25 upgrade.
Internet Connection Sharing - Utilize your smartphone capabilities by using your phone as a high-speed wireless modem for your laptop(4).
(4) Within coverage area only. Requires tethered mode data plan Additional service charges may apply.
Can anybody verify this information?? Please??
Thanks a lot
Ive been using it paired via BT on my Mac since the first leaked WM6 back in June or so - so far no additional billing from ATT. I upgraded to the official Palm unbranded version and still no problems. I have the unlimited data plan (non tethered). I only use it occasionally (maybe 4-5 times a month) for a total of about 4 hrs. I assume if one uses it as a primary connection, there may be problems. I recently read that 5GB was the red flag point for excessive usage, so buyer be ware
OK, the official question is... With the "new" AT&t official release (2.25) is it possible to "tether" (with a wire or bluetooth), while on the "basic" unlimited data plan, ($19.95). (not PDA connect or Laptop connect or whatever they call it)
If it is not possible to do so. Can this be corrected by removing the AT&T stuff? Or by making it "Vanilla". Or a cooked ROM or ???????????
Thanks a lot everybody

tethering w? tilt

Hey all , ive been trying to tether my laptop with my tilt...now i go into wireless modem and choose the usb type connection. is there additional software or a program i need to install to make it work (and i dont have the tether option on at&t will that make a different ?)
thanx in advance for those with serious replies.
Don't use wireless modem!!! Won't work right. What you want to do is find the program shortcut in ythe \Windows folder called Internet Sharing.lnk.
Copy it & paste it to your program directory located \Windows\Start Menu\Programs, paste the shortcut there.
Launch the Int Share proggie, hook up to pc via usb, select usb as connection type & MediaNet as the connect to. Press connect & activesync will drop out & you will be connected.
It works great...I'm wondering if AT&T can tell that I'm tethering or not when I do this. I really don't want to pay for tethering.

No they can't. I mean they can see how much traffic is going through but after all, you're paying $30 for internet on a tiny device! Thats the price of home DSL internet!
I've been tethering for ages
i've been tethering for a while (and also use data like crazy on my devices) i just make sure to disable to the proxy first...
also once i was in the ATT store making some adjustments on my plan and the guy noticed the high traffic use and was gonna force me to upgrade to PDA connect for $50/month. I just told him that i bought the device with that plan and why would u charge me more if they advertised it with the medianet package...
he let me keep the medianet package and warned me saying that if i get caught then they'll charge me per kilobyte... that day hasn't come yet..
why would i disable the proxy ? thanx for the replies they were very helpfull !

This really deserves a knuckle rap because it's posted about a thousand times. There are two cabs. Disablehiddenproxy.cab & Restorehiddenproxy.cab.
If you have a stock tilt you need to run disable every time you reset because the proxy is default. If you have a modded rom, just the opposite is true & you need to enable it to use AT&T proggies/sites.
READ & SEARCH!!!
Forgive me bra! Your right I should have looked harder .

Yes, I've been tethering ONLY when I go on long road trips, like from DC to NYC and/or DC to NH/VT. I have not been charged extra by AT&T (I'm on the Unlimited PDA Data plan... $40 per month) for tethering, but my understanding is (according to another post I found in XDA-Developers) that if WE UPGRADE TO WM 6.1, AT&T WILL BE ABLE to know when we are doing tethering and when we're not. If tethering... they'll charge us extra. :-( I really think it's unfair! So, these bastards are pretty much asking us to pay $40 for the unlimited PDA plan, which they misinterpret and misadvertise as our having "the internet in our hands"... which is true, but that means we can only get a certain amount of packets per second! By tethering, we're getting more packets per second and that's when they simply do not like it! BASTARDS! Well, those are my 2 cents. Please let me know if it's true about the WM6.1 upgrade and/or if anyone finds out based on real-life experience! (whether or not they got charge for tethering after upgrading to WM6.1)
what exactly will disabling the proxy do?

Any way to disable GPS on my Tilt?

I have just received an AT&T Tilt that I bought from eBay. BUT in my country, they did not allow me to get the phone because it has GPS and GPS is forbidden in my country unless you pay for an authorization ($300 per year) which I find completely ridiculous !!
Anyway, I just wanna disable the GPS on my phone (I don't really need it anyway !) or at least try some sort of trick to convince them that I disabled GPS. Is there any way to do so ?
I heard that GPS on Tilt is locked so that it can only be used with AT&T ot Telenav or something. Is it true ?
You live in Egypt??
No, in Tunisia. In Egypt, they have an HTC representative and they sell Pocket PCs with GPS, whereas in Tunisia, there are no Pocket PCs at all !
But how would they find out if you have GPS?

The Tilt's GPS is not locked to any app or carrier, you can use any app you wish, on mine I have TomTom, Google Maps and Windows Live Search. As far as disabling the GPS, you can always tell them it only works if you use a GPS based program (which is true), and when you show them your Tilt make sure no GPS software is on it, you can later install the GPS software after the "man" is gone
What a load of bullcrap.. ever thought about emigration?
now seriously: cant u set it to external antenna without an antenna installed on the back?
gps is not a service that a country (apart from usa ) control
and it dont transmit anything it only recieve
i doubt very much that the Tunisian goverment would or could detect if you use gps there
WOW, I'm just curious, do you have anything we could read regarding this law? Do you have to have your phone inspected by someone? Any reason to not allow GPS? What else can't you do?
http://www.subzeroblue.com/archives/2008/01/tunisianas_gps_weene.html
I found a little something about GPS in Tunisia.
SO, if they are making GPS for that area why can't our friend use his tilt?

They are trying to build some sort of monopoly so that we all have to buy GPS from here (a simple GPS device costs $800 !!). I told them about that but they replied that companies providing GPS devices are paying the $300 thing each year, which I didn't !

So your tilt is still at the post office? Like a gadget prison? NOOOOOOO FREE THE TILT, FREE THE TILT,FREE THE TILT,FREE THE TILT.
So far they haven't let me get my Tilt. I told them to erase the software, but they want me to remove the hardware part. Is this possible ?
I don't think so. Send it back dude and get another phone.
As far as I know, the GPS is part of the CPU chip, thus impossible to take apart!

gps app and google maps?

is there a free gps app to use w/google maps?
i am not going to pay ATT montly for it.
im talking about iGO , tomtom , etc--but free.
this is on kaiser..
thanx
Huh... Google maps is a GPS app...
Google maps is free, and will use the signal from the Kaiser's GPS, but the drawback is that you need an active data connection for it to work, and thus need a data plan or something which you'll have to pay.
Other programs don't require anything during usage, but you have to buy them in the first place. There's no free GPS navigation app that I know of.
So.. the matter is choosing between a free program but that you'll have to pay something when you use it (note you'll be able to take advantage of the data connection for the net etc as well) or a payware program that you pay for once and are then quiet with.
what would be one of those payware programs?
suggestions?

I've seen a freeware proggy about that allows you to drop in map images i.e. lifted from google. But it would be limited to a single image and only simulate google maps until you ran off the page ... actually this would answer the question 'why did the ancients think the Earth was flat' !!
Which GPS app do you guys think is the best? Garmin, iGO, TomTom?
I would recommend dl'ing tomtom7 for the diamond. it's a "taster" edition where you need to dl voices & a single free city map. After you decide that you like it, you can buy full maps of the US & Canada, Europe, etc...

No, he's just saying that to use Google Maps or Live Search you need an active data connection, which means that you're paying for an unlimited data plan through AT&T or whoever your provider is. If you already have the data plan then you won't incur any further charges for using a GPS program.

Just to add to your explaination...
The maps on Google Maps, and Live Search are updated/uploaded via a internet connection. They are not kept in internal memory. Hence the reason for having an unlimited data plan.

My Mobile bill explode!!!help?????????

Hi i've got my diamond for a few days an now my mobile bill explode, because i've opened googlemaps application, wich dowloads in 10 min. ca. 5 mb mapsmaterials. So my bill is going huge.....I thought, that my Diamond will aks me, when it use the mobile service to connect to the i-net. But it did'nt, so i need held.
I'm looking for a program, which ask me everytime when my mobilephone will connect to the i-net with the mobileconnection, if i want this or not....or better which way to connect it should use(when WiFi is aviable)???
So does anybody know of a program like this....or could write it...?
looking forward
Carriers always like that because you get billed without knowing it. Use Modaco Nodata to block internet usage. Call the carrier and say you didn't know and they will probably let you go this one time.
Just install diamond tweaks http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=409540
There is a setting to turn your mobile internet on and off as you please.
Hey guys
i use this internet page since last week and i know a lot more about my diamond and have found a lot of great applications...this forum is great...
and thank you for your great and fast answers and the great tipps...
i think i love this forum.....
or use spb gprs monitor to monitor your data usage. great application which enables u to get reports on how much you've used every day/week/month, and alerts when you've use more than an amount of data you have specified. You can also enter the rate at which you are being charged per MB (or per month if u have a fixed allowance) and it will tell you the cost of what you've used.
I have used it for the past three years - it does not cost much and it is a great investment.
Ohh okay... ithink i will test it..in time i use diamond tweaks great tool but i would like it if my mobile connection is turned off and if any programm will start the connection, a tool ask me which connection should be used (wifi or mobile) and i have to click okay when only my mobile is aviable...does anybody know of an Programm like this...?
Diamond tweaks have the problem that u have to turn it on and off how you need it, so you have to start the Programm every time.............................not so comfortable
Does your carrier have an unlimited data package? That would solve everything...
or get an unlimited data package from your service provider and then you dont need to worry...
that's sounds nice but i'm student and not millionaire........
I think that it's a murder to buy a device like Diamond without having at least a small dataplan. It's a very web oriented device, so go to look a volume data plan...even small...you will enjoy much more. Find a little job and go for a dataplan
I pay €9,95 a month to get unlimited internet access. It'd take me 100503 months, or 8375 years, to pay a million for unlimited internet. Somehow, I don't think I'm gonna make that...
*cut* dang, double post :S
use monaco nodata software
