*EDIT#2(25.09.08)*
Best to change reg like this HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager\TextColorSetting = FF FF FF 00 FF FF FF 00 FF FF FF 00 99 99 99 00 99 99 99 00 99 99 99 00 99 99 99 00
Changing the top bar font to match m2d font also would be good but i cant find where to change it.
*don't know what solved the text color problem cause as first registry edit didn't work*
*i changed start icon then wanted to turn it back so deleted shellres.96.*
*then copied other icons and after one of the resets the comm manager colors changed - strange but i like the result
Here are the files, just extract to \Windows

Looks good!
Great job

no, it doesn't.
as You said, black font is wrong and switch colors are unacceptable.

The settings icons are the original but inverted i posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2678276&postcount=877

Please some images.

good work but I would suggest making a cab with the registry changes as well or at least upload a modded reg key to your 1st post
EDIT:
Here is a modded reg key. Just extract it onto your device and import using your fav registery editor

I edited the reg key with the new color value but it's still black... I've soft reset twice now. Any ideas?

That is from WM6 Black 2.5 I think. That may help you track it down.
change the file extension from "zip" to "tsk", copy to your device and select as your theme. to get the deep black look, you'll need a registry editor to change the "basehue" value to 160. Enjoy!... this is what it looks like on my device.....
How do you change the base hue value?
thanks...what reg key do i edit and what program do i use to edit the reg?

first, you'll need a Windows Mobile registry editor. i use the registry editor that comes with Resco File Explorer. Google registry editors and you'll find several... Use the registry editor's search feature to locate the "DWORD Value" BaseHue and then change the "DWORD Data" value to 160.
found resco, worked great
Good work fellas, love th new look of my Tilt!
This theme looks nice... but for some reason it just wont work on my device. ATT Tilt.
Brought the file over to the phone. changed to .tsk.
Ran the tsk file.
BlackGlossy came up as a theme option.
But when i select it, it just gives me the ATT theme!
I tried deleting and reinstalling.
Also tried renaming it to something else.
it works on my friends tilt.
Im also able to load other themes onto mine... except for this one.
Any ideas why it would be doing this?
EDIT ----- JUST STARTED WORKING! THANKS.
For those who like the Black Theme, I've attached a zip file with a small program that JJ had created to restore BaseHue (the Black to the Glossy Bars) easily. Just put it in your phone's windows folder and run it when needed to make the bars black again. There is a shortcut as well that you can put into the Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder if you want to be able to run it from the programs menu.
Also PocketCM with the "Black Vista" theme goes very well.
I've got a black dialer, but it's a bit complicated.
where did you get the black dialer, I didn't see that anywhere
Registry path for the Base Hue is HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Color
thx for the location

Anybody tried using the black theme with Magic Button 2.1? It's one of my favourite programs but i just can't get the colour to match on the taskbar and this only happens when i use black. Red, green, purple or any other colour works fine but not black....it just does not match. Anybody knows what's the closest value to put into the basehue?

how do i change the file extension. i feel this should be easy and im missing something.
EDIT: already figured it out
i'm lost and I feel stupid, how do you change the file extension?
Just unzip this file, then copy the blackglossy.tsk file into your documents folder on the phone. Then select this theme in your today settings.
Once the theme is up and running, go back in this thread and get the "restore glossy bars" prog, copy it to the phone and run it, it will make the top and bottom bars black instead of the initial grey.

TF3D Start menu HELP

I have spent the better part of 3 days trying to find a way to change the color of the FONT on the start menu in TF3D...
I cannot find it anywhere...
Here is an example...
Without TF3D I can read my menu ok.

With TF3D its VERY HARD.
What manila files control the font color on the start menu???
Or better yet, does anyone have a list of what manilia files (the mode9 ones) do what?
Do you have a theme installed?
yes. i have the star wars dark side theme installed.
i love the theme, but i want to change the font color on the start menu.
it is not a .theme installed with tf3d config, its just manila files copied over to my windows folder.
I have now downloaded a lot of theme editing apps and i want to start making my own as well...
task manager - hkey current user/software/htc/taskmanager
change ManilaCustomText to 00ffffff (dword value)
start menu - hkey local machine/software/htc/enlargemenu
change ManilaCustomText to 00ffffff (dword value)
these values changes the text to white while manila is running
after you make the changes soft reset your device

Change the Enlarged Menu Highlight Color and the main system one too!!

Ok so this was my contribution to the thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442286
I figured I would post it to see what others get out of this. It works perfectly for me.
Thanks to mouki_9 for pointing out the Syscolor registry link.
I noticed that the green color's hex was 5A A2 00. Going off of that I took a gander in the Syscolor link (HKLM\system\GWE\syscolor) Note: you have to click on GWE then it is a registry link named Syscolor inside of it.
Edit it and look for the line with 5A A2 00, I switched it to 00 66 B3 which is a decent colored blue. After a soft reset, Viola!!
Note this does not change the highlight color of the large menu, I am still working on that. It does however change the highlight of everything else, including the landscape start menu highlight color.
Ok It is not an exact science yet, but I have the jist of what is happening.
This is for the Raphael by the way, incase its different (dont know still a newb).
Anyways. So far what I have figured out for the Enlarged Main menu, is that it does not go off of the reversed number of your hex code, which is what some of us thought. It seems like instead, it goes off the INVERTED COLOR.
I tested this by going into photoshop, going to the color pallete and putting in the color 0066B3 which is a very nice blue (not too dark not too light) imho.
I then filled the layer with that color then went to Image>Adjustments>invert. Or CTRL I. This turned it into a bright orange with the hex of FF994C. I tried that hex (the one for orange) in the phone... and guess what!!!
It turned BLUE. However it did NOT turn the same blue as 0066B3 is, instead it turned to a lighter blue.
All and all I am still tweaking with this to see if we can get this down to a science of finding what color we want precisely. For right now I am happy with a lighter blue then no blue at all..
WOOO.. Ok so, it takes a little bit of work but you can get almost your exact color (based off of how good your eyes are).
Step 1. Go to this website http://www.2createawebsite.com/build/hex-colors.html and find out what color you want your menu to be.
Step 2. Using PHM Registry Editor Navigate to HKLM\Software\HTC\EnlargeMenu.
Step 3. Scroll down to ManilaCustomHLDown and ManilaCustomHLUp Edit them with the color you want. Make sure you select Hexidecimal as the value. This will give you the opposite color.
Step 4. If you dont have it download My Mobiler for your phone. This is a great program that lets you view your phone on your computer!!! Linky: http://blownfuze.org/ (Thank you Doug you rock) Scroll down the page its under the Basic apps and Tweaks section.
Step 5. Go back to the hex-color website, with My Mobiler up and running close out of the registry editor if you havent allready. click on your start menu. Now the opposite color should be seen. (this is were good eyes come in) Try to match up the color of the menu, with the hex-color website as best as possible. Once your finished jot down that hex for the color.
Step 6. Go back into the Registry editor and put in this new Hex. The opposite color should come up... which... (depending again on your eyes) Should be damn close to the color you were looking for.
Another way to do this is to take a screen capture with My Mobiler, and use a image editing program with a color picker. I have photoshop, I believe GIMP has this feature. Hopefully others can chime in on free programs that have it. Pick the color and get the hex for it.
And yet another way, if a programer could make a color picker for windows mobile. I cant remember the name of it, but there is one floating around for regular windows that allows you to pick any color anywere, whether on a website or your desktop, if something like this could be made into a cab for WinMo getting the colors would be a cake walk.
Hope this helps somebody out!!
Merc.

How do I make this black text become white?

I've been trying to change some of the text colors in a dark theme I'm working on, but I can't seem to get certain text to become white. The text I'm talking about is the black stuff in the screenshot below. I've used the color changer tool, but it doesn't seem to be able to change these colors. Either that or I'm just not finding the correct option. Can anyone help and point me in the right direction?

xml edits. Been 100 threads started for this same question. Please feel free to search for one of them.
Ignore the previous post, I am not sure why noobs feel a need to come on here and be a d*** when they have no clue what they are talking about. Search as you like, unless you are going to compile your own ROM from source, this cannot be accomplished through an xml edit. Though these font colors are initially in xml files, after the ROM is compiled they are in .dex files. Search for baksmali.jar, which will decode your .dex files so that you can find the proper file (there is also smali.jar to compile), then search on how to edit the .dex files. This is not easy, but can be done. To be honest, for my theme I found it to be much easier to just change to color around the font.

Hey, if ur using cyan's rom then just run colorchange.jar....itll do this and much more
since no one will actually give you a straight answer. to change the text from black to white for those items, then you will need to edit
framework-res.apk/res/layout/status_bar_expanded.xml
framework-res.apk/res/layout/status_bar_latest_event_content.xml
also for market downloads
DownloadProvider.apk/res/layout/status_bar_ongoing_event_progress_bar.xml
change the 6 digits after 08 00 00 1C to FF FF FF to achieve the white text.
Thank you, David, for that not so useless reply.
Should be obvious to anyone who read my first post that I've already done searching and worked with the color changer BEFORE posting.

My device has met with QC issues and I've elected not to replace it. Development on this project may stagnate
LogoPlus is an Open Source Alternative to the stock Razer Chroma Configurator app and corresponding service
The latest version can be downloaded from GitHub (cant load XDAs upload plugin in my browser for some reason)
Demo video attached to post #2
The current feature set includes:
Select custom notification color per app
Set LED brightness
Up to 4 apps' colors on the logo at once
5 different passive effects
Animation for phone ringing, with different colors per contact
Pocket mode. Lights turn off if placed into a pocket or bag
Automation integration (Tasker/Locale)
Charging animation
Custom effect programs
Music visualizer (controllable via automation plugin)
In order to use the app correctly, please disable the "Chroma" system app
Currently notifications will only be displayed when the phone is locked (screen off or on lock screen)
Also please enable notification access for the app as it currently doesnt ask for it automatically
Also please disable battery optimisation for the app so Android doesn't kill the service
Also I haven't done apps for a while, so please excuse the very messy code

Changelog:
v1.0:
- Initial release
v1.0.1:
- Improved service coordination
- Code cleanup
- Added passive effects
v1.0.2
- Bug fixes and code cleanup
- Service co-ordination improvements
v1.0.3
- Moved to Room DB for persistence
- Support libraries migrated to AndroidX
- Various threading and coordination improvements
v1.0.4
- Main service is now a proper state machine, allowing for functionality to be more easily added in future
- Notification listener caches settings in RAM for better performance and efficiency
- Various bug fixes
v1.0.5
- Tweaked microcode to be more efficient, as a result, 6 colors can now be displayed at once for app notifications.
- State machine paths improved
- Separation of concerns in state machine, allowing for more possible backends for controlling the lights (such as stock ROM system services)
- Phone ring animation! Complete with specific colors per contact!
Disclaimer:
This build contains dormant code for both the rootless mode and music visualizer, 'cause using feature branches would mean I have my life together. I'll activate them when they're stable enough to actually use.
v1.0.6
- Pocket mode! When the screen is switched off, the app will query various sensors for a few seconds afterwards and if it is determined the device is placed in a pocket or bag, the lights will be disabled, which can save battery.
- Some explanations added for the 2 toggles in the passive effect screen
- Service worker wakelock renamed to more accurately describe its source
- Code cleanup
v1.0.7
- First stable release
- New icon
- Automation integration (Tasker) first phase
- In order for automation to work, the "Allow Automation" switch must be turned on from the main drawer
- New "Roll" passive effect
- Code cleanup and optimization
v1.0.8
- Charging animation
- Various improvements to state machine
- Now asks for exemption from battery optimization
- Sped up fadeout effect
v1.0.9
- Dependency updates (newer libsuperuser)
- Added custom effects!
NOTE: Custom effect programs must be compiled with Texas Instruments' Lysti compiler which can be found on the support page of the LP5523 controller.
See my Chroma research thread on XDA for details:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/razer-phone-2/development/research-oss-chroma-service-t3890290
v1.0.10
- Limit of 6 apps on LEDs at once has been reduced to 4 in order to generate higher quality microcode, as there was an issue with timing before which could make it unclear what color the logo is flashing
- Now uses E164 format phone numbers internally for comparison. This should make number identification for ring animation more reliable.
- Notification preference for apps now previews the color on the logo while picking
v1.0.11
- Music Visualizer! Toggle the visualizer switch in the drawer and then play some music!
Side note: I'm pretty sure this is bad for the LEDs. Use sparingly
v1.0.12
Now asks for recording permissions!
Also BitDefender didn't mark it as malicious! I have literally no idea!
v1.0.13
Added ability to control visualizer state from automation plugin! (Tasker, Locale)
You may wish to disable the toggle for automatic visualization state control in the main UI as this may interfere with your custom logic in your automation application of choice.

Creating custom effects
The app supports loading of custom microcode programs into an effect slot. This allows for many possible lighting effects for the passive effect.
Please note that creating custom effects is very advanced! One should have at least some knowledge of assembly, programming and integrated circuits in general. Reading Texa Instruments' literature on the controller is strongly advised, the LED controller is very constrained in it's abilities.
In order to begin, you will need the TI Lysti compiler. You can find a link to it in post #1 of my Chroma Research Thread under "Controller OEM support"
The compiler compiles an assembly style language called Lysti into a .hex file. Rename the .hex to .txt and place the file somewhere on your phone's internal storage, then click the "Load Custom" button from in the app and select the file. The program will be validated and you will see either a success or failure message. Once loaded, the program will play as the passive effect if you have the "Custom" effect selected as your passive effect. Only one program at a time is currently supported.
Below is a sample of the "Pinwheel" effect used by the app in Lysti:
Code:
ENG1: dw 0000000001011000b ; R G B
ENG2: dw 0000000010100001b ; G B R

amazing work!!!
working on phh-aosp
Awesome work! So glad someone has taken this on. Will definitely watch this thread and look forward to future updates, feature expansions, and bug fixes, etc. Good job so far.
Will it always be the case that the app requires root access?
I keep getting this when enabling the service

It might be possible to implement the functionality in a daemon, or even as a system service for custom ROMs where we can add source code (this is how Razer did it).
It's also probably possible to use Razer's own system service, but that's a lot of reverse engineering on the Chroma Configurator, and won't work for custom ROMs. Using root seems more aligned to the purpose of the app at the moment but I'll consider alternatives. Most of the magic was figuring out the microcode anyway

Just realized I have release builds up so the logs won't even be much use... Sorry about that, you can try clearing the app's data and see if it'll cooperate. I've got another version soon. I'll remember to enable debug build
Awesome work! This is functionality that should have shipped with the phone from the factory. Been running the pinwheel animation for the past 1.5 days and haven't noticed any increased battery usage.

Ok maybe not soon soon. But definitely this afternoon
OK, new build is up! v1.0.3
This is mostly just trying to stabilize the app. New features should come soon
If the release build gives issues, please switch to the debug build and capture some logcats. Only logcats for the application package is sufficient
Lastly, as I've changed the persistence system, unfortunately settings from v1.0.1 wont carry over

I'm gonna level with you man, I don't understand a lot of this. I was hoping it was as easy as having one that worked on custom ROMs and another that could be sideloaded as another app on the stock non-rooted RP2, but now that I'm thinking about it I suppose you are controlling a pretty odd piece of actual physical hardware that isn't exactly standard on phones.
I'll keep this thread around and check it every now and then to see if a non-root version ever comes around. It seems super cool, and I'm glad someone is tackling the logo, even if (at least right now) I can't take advantage of it. Keep up the cool work, dude.
For anyone that hasn't given this a go, try it! It's spectacular. Exactly what the Chroma app should be. The pinwheel effect is sexy af too! Good work, keep it up.
Briefly had a issue with it not turning off when screen was off, toggle seemed to do nothing, reinstall fixed it. No issues otherwise.
v1.0.4 has been uploaded
Still mostly a bugfix build
