E-mail setup on diamond - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

For some reason whenever i set up my username and password on my diamond using the wizard, the password field keeps resetting to something random! it's about 30 characters long and even though i put the correct password in and click the "save password" box, it still resets to the wrong one! am i being stupid here?
Thanks for your time.

Its normal, windows masks it with a whole load of ****** no matter how short/long you password is.

ah... ok i thought it was resetting it do a default or something! lol hmm.... still wont work though. it tells me to check that i have a connection and that my username and pass are correct i'm confused what username and pass to use... the one to access my emails?... it's signing in using 3g. is there a step by step i could follow?

[Solved] Att Tilt won't Sync with e-mail

OK, my 8525 used to do this very well. I just got a tilt and installed several roms and they all did the same thing (duty, ATT org., and DCS) when I setup an email for a yahoo account and try to sync it says it cannot connect under these settings. But they are the default settings for att. I also checked with att and my settings are all correct. I was using the 1.58 radio now I'm starting to use 1.64 to see if that works any better. I don't know if this is a radio issue or whatever but I really need help att support isn't doing anything so I'm turning to you guys. (btw I've reset everything many many times getting the same error too)

Did you not learn anything from your 8525....?
You need to provide more info if you want help.
Start by creating a signature summarizing your device's set up.
Default is not always default....keep this in mind!
I don't know what data plan you have but I'll start with this:
Start > Setting > Connection > Connection > Advanced > Select Networks > In the Drop down box...you probably have Media Net, Try ATT Wap or vice versa.
This all I can do for you because you failed to provide more info. Based on the radios you've tried, I'm assuming you're on WM 6.1. Also, you need to address this issue in the thread of the Rom you're using.
You've said also that this issue repeats on several Roms.....What are you using to configure your Network settings?
Either Network Config or your cab file is not working properly you. You may have to manually input your settings. They are located around here somewhere or google it.

I'm sorry I thought I was providing enough info. I used the network config ROM that was built in to most of the windows 6.1 ROMs but I also used the "default" settings from att. (I ment defauld because that is what att shipps)
But if you want more info here is my network settings
When I first hit "connection settings" I have in bold "MY ISP" and "My Work Network"
if you go to manage "MY ISP" it has the config for att's isp. here are the settings:
Access Point Name: isp.cingular
UserName: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
(also set to use server IP)
_________________________________________________________________
Under the "Advance" tab I have 3 choices for each drop-down menu they are "My ISP" (which is selected for the top "programs automatically connect to the internet"), "MEdia Net", and "My Work Network" (which is selected for "programs that automatically connect to a private network)
the "MEdia Net" settings are as follows (and I have switched between using ISP and MEdia net in the drop down menu for internet and get the same problem)
Access Point Name:wap.cingular
User Name: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
(also set to use server IP)

I hope that is enough info like I said earlier my roms is currently DCS v1.7 and I'm running radio 1.64 as a side not it doesn't seem like my GPS is working correctly since it hasn't found a lock in 5min. But I think I've found the thread to help me with that. Again I'm having trouble with only syncing my e-mail althouth internet works just fine
I'm in your boat too. I have the same settings but under media net. I read one place to use the username and password you have but ATT says to leave blank and then run some cab file for proxy info. (I didn't do that) So far it has the exact settings you have, my PIE works and everything. Just can't send receive mail.
At this point though, mine just says connecting, and then asks me to verify my username and password, then I get ..
"Messages cannot be downloaded to your movile device. Make sure you are connected and that your email account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again. "
I've tried 2 different email addresses..

that's actually the first time I heard something about proxy settings. Where is that cab just in case (I'm willing to try anything)
I didn't use that cab but I did try Cingular PDA MediaNet MMS Settingsv2.cab
it should be attached.
EDIT
I know what solved my problem, paying a past due bill.
Problem Solved
OK, one piece of info that I didn't realize was important was that I am on the unlimited MEdia Net plan (which uses WAP.CINGULAR.COM) and the PDA plan, which is way more expensive uses ISP.CINGULAR.COM apparently I needed to change any network that was WAP and change it to ISP to get my pda to use things that I guess are usually covered in the PDA Data plan.
Thanks for your help everyone and I hope this can be used for someone else as well. long story short.....
media net=wap.cingular
pda plan=isp.cingular

Email connection problem

Hi
I've been trying to setup an IMAP account on the built in email. But can't seem to connect to it, it says:
"Cannot connect to the incoming mail server. Be certain that your login information is correct, then try again to send and receive email"
But I'm definitely sure all email account info is correct.
Wierd thing is, when I go back to the email Accounts setup, I notice the password there rather than ******* 7 characters long password it is like ********************** 20 characters long. I've tried changing back to the real password, but still don't work and if I check the Accounts setup again, the password, again shows really long like ***********************
I've tried accessing my IMAP email account through the internet on the phone via Opera, and that's working OK.
Any ideas?
Mmmm...
Can't really help you with your settings, but I can answer one question for you. The masked password is always a long string of ****'s. This is so no one can guess the actual number of characters in your password.
I've never set up an IMAP account, as I use POP3. I had an issue years ago when I was first trying to figure out how to set email up on these things, but I'd just got the incoming pop address wrong. I went on the internet and Googled the proper settings. Sorry I can't be of any more help
During the email set up there is a link for Advanced Server Settings. There there are settings for Require SSL for Incoming/Outgoing email. You might try toggling those. It depends on the IMAP server setup. Which IMAP server are you trying to connect to? I run my own IMAP server. The difference between IMAP and IMAPS (i.e. with SSL) is that you connect on a different port. If your IMAP server only accepts IMAPS then it's listening on one port but you're asking on another.
I've noticed that the email doesn't work when using activesync for network, but it's fine if using WiFi for example.
Actually, the problem is probably Activesync itself, as I have network problems with it... Activesync seems unable to remember proxy settings, its like it works after the initial setup , for a few minutes, then any proxies that were setup there are gone a few minutes later, just dissappears and consequently the network won't work anymore until I manually set it up again

IEE 802.x1 radius not stable

I have the HTC 730 with the Alcaline rom which works like a charm but...
The wifi connection which is configured to connect with the network of our company is a disaster.
We use personal certificates and radius accounting but when I try to connect to the network the device asks me over and over again for my username & domain.
Sometimes I am able to make a connection, but the next day he settings seems to be lost because the problem is exactly the same.
The odd thing is that the username to which the certificate belongs is my window account name (for example ABC1234) en the name which is automaticly filled in the name dialog is my e-mail name whithout the domain suffix.
It has to be my windows account name because thats the only way the connection is created. The only time I am able to create the connection is when my windows name is automaticly filled in and I,am able to push the OK button within a split second.
Is there an application which stores these settings for me? for example the Odyssey client or is it possible to add these settings to the registry or whatever.

yeah same problem with me...but i found a way around it
you have to go to your outlook and in the connection settings, enable outlook anywhere
i'll tell you step by step but the site does it better..
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HP101024441033.aspx
once your done, put the domain in your phone (the https site without the https)
let me know if that works

hi zidane,
Thanks for the instructions. However I tried the method in the website, but still din work for me.
can you tell me you settings?
email: [email protected]
server address: xxxmail.com
domain: xxx
username: abcde
password: **** (includes a dot.)
SSL selected
At my outlook:
connection tab -> selected "Exchange over the Internet"
Under connection settings: Use this URL to connect to my proxy server for Exchange -> "https://xxxmail.com"
Proxy authentication settings -> NTLM Authntication
for the url, if the https:// is already written on the side you do not need to re-write it again...
then u tick the use SSL box, then tick the box under that and write "msstd:xxxmail.com"
and keep everything else the same...

Trouble Using MagicJack with Sipdroid

I have everything set up correct and Sipdroid works with VOIPBuster and it dials out using my MagicJack trunk, but when I dial, after 30 seconds I hear an error message.
I have all of the information for Username and Password and my proxy is correct. I even changed the proxy to the actual IP address and it still does not work.
Assuming I found my Username & Password and the proxy are there any other tricks I am missing while using SIPDroid?

I read that MJ folks changed to rotating password.. You may have it running until they rotate the password, and by not having the MJ itself, you get logged out. No solution currently, and it was made so to promote magic talk. it sucks because i don't want to make calls from my laptop, and there is no solution for mobile. NetTalk works, but has echo issues, latency is horrible, and it is Wi-Fi only..
