Opentouch 6.1 - Wing, P4350 Herald Upgrading

Hi, not sure if this is the correct thread to post this, so feel free to remove it, pelase.
I just recently upgraded to the new opentouch, the one with the flash integrated..and I want to actually go back to my old version, the only problem is I don't remember which one that was.
It came standard black, I believe it was the first opentouch to include WM 6.1, there was none of that cube, scrolling, anything of that. It was plain, and that's the way I want my phone.
Does anyone know which version it was?

Sorry for double post, but to be more specific:
It essentially didn't really come wit anyting extra. None of the icontacts, none of that. I think the only extra programs/features it came with were threaded text messaging, and opera mini.

it has links to all of the open touch roms. they have descriptions and pictures. you should be able to find it there. it just might take a while.

Just look at my signature and it shoule have most of the links to my past roms, except for stuff older then 3.0.

Just wanted to say, love your open touch. But even 3.0 I think comes with a BUNCH of programs...even the cube thing. I don't like the new flash cube touchflo thing because for some reason it just keeps spazzing on my phone.

It pretty much is exactly that one..but with no icons in the middle.

Remember:
If you dont like what I have added, or what I have removed or w/e please dont spam this thread with lame comments.
Disclaimer:
I take NO responsebility if you brick your device, if you do search the forums before you come flaming me/us here at XDA.
IF you brick your phone (Brick=the phone can be used as a building brick, or maybe a paperweight? Because you cant start it up.) Its no others fault but your own.
Mainly the reason for bricking a phone is:
1. Not reading the instructions good enough
2. Not following the instructions.
3. Not having a RUU that can unbrick the phone (the official installer with the official rom for your specific phone, with your phones default language. In.ex if yu have a german phone by default, you need a german RUU, if not you will get invalid vendor error)
4. Not reading the instructions good enough..again
5. Not following the instructions...again
If you dont understand after reading CAREFULLY, then dont bother flash your device with this or any other rom.

DO NOT SPLIT UP AND POST THIS PACKAGE IN SEPERATE FILES.
Wow, dude. Awesome. And just in time for me buying my P4350 monday (or tuesday possibly). Not having tried flashing before (but already having read the instructions several times, even though I haven't actually got a phone to do anything on), I don't know the quality of your roms - yet I presume from what I have read that they are quite good indeed.
So thanks for your work on the roms, even though the P4350 isn't exactly new.
Just out of curiosity, is it WM5 or WM6 it's built upon? I can't seem to locate that fact anywhere in your post, but I might have overlooked it for some mysterious reason.
EDIT: It seems I was a bit too quick to post the latter about me not finding the information. I googled a bit and it seems that Kaiser OS of that build mentioned above is indeed WM6. So I guess I answered my question myself
EDIT 2: First (or well, second), I guess?
glad to hear that you're still doing work for us. I can't wait to put this on my phone.
thanks mucho.

Hm, maybe this should be stickied. Easier to find it, as it seems to be the final version ever to be released.
I am however curious, itje. What if bugs pop up, will you be fixing those? Depending on their size and reach of the bug, of course.

Well, it might work. If you find a language pack that works on wm6 then it might. Why don't you try it out? Just make a backup, flash, see if it works, flash back to your current rom and restore your backup. I'm sure it can't be that hard.
UAHUUUUU
I love the "READ ME-How To Upgrade" file
I love the new (light coloured) splashcreen and theme
I love everything man!
It is dumb saying so since it is the last version but this is the best release!
Installation went smooth! I really hope that this time everybody reads carefully the readme file since the package has the select OS feature.
Itje, come back to the herald whenever you want. I read somewhere that kaiser was way worse than Herald... I would think it twice
Great rom itje... I've founda little bug that becomes annoying when using CommManager: when I try to slect Settings -> Wireless lan nothing happens :?

So does this rom have the keyboard and stuff working correctly? I think it was a problem in the past, if I remember right. Just curious because I just had to hard reset my phone because it's being stupid, so if this rom is (close to) bug free, I will probably flash to this instead.

If you have a P4350, and its default language is english. There is no issue
What messed up with soft keyboard was the softkeyboard from touch dual, and I didnt include it in this release.
If you want it, get the cab. The same applies to other programs that ppl wants that is not in this release.

To be honest I don't really know what touch dual is, so I'm sure I could do without it. I've been running the regular t-mobile rom with just the page pool change and a few programs (htc home, etc), and suddenly started getting this problem where my send button didn't work right and my phone would make some weird noises. I just did a hard reset and it seems to have fixed that, so while I'm at it I might as well add a nice new rom.
I know you've been working on roms for quite a while here, and I was holding off because of not wanting to re-do everything, but now since I had to start fresh, I might as well add something like this.
Thanks for all of the hard work you put into this stuff. I'm definitely going to give it a try.

Update of TouchFLO by HTC (with video)

It says the updated version of TouchFLO will be launched in European market first, and then to Asia. More sensitive and fluent.... waiting
http://www.pocketpc.com.hk/news.php?id=1393
Isnt That Just The Same But With The O2 Skin?
Looks pretty much the same except the new skin/colour scheme. Performance doesn't look that different from what's already on our current Diamonds.
In fact, you can see (from the video) that launching Messaging is still slow. Showing the virtual keyboard is still slow. Overall, a lot of lags...
That is definately NOT the newest ROM- Version of the Diamon, the Video is a few weeks old. There will be Videos with the new ROM soon on http://www.theunwired.net/.
There may be hope yet for TouchFlo then
I was just about to remove it.
Lol - that site is not Firefox friendly - it insists I use IE7. Good thing I have the proper extension
And, by the way, I think the black version looks waaaay better!

I took mine off via the settings ie today...its just too damn slow for my liking but i havent applied the tweaks you mentioned in the other thread so when i get a chance then ill turn it back on.
Only problem is now it isnt so easy to get to the programs you want to lol...you have to go through the start menu to get to say the internet etc.

Wow that looks pretty damn good that does...i tried without touchflo and adding things to the normal today screen but it just doesnt look right...i guess i missed that clock and weather program too much lol.
Hmmm now im thinking of doing it myself. The more i play with this phone the more i fall in love with it...i think im gonna keep it to be honest...the bugs and quirks arent so bad...you kinda get used to them. Im quite surprised that ive taken to this phone as i was never a fan of WM but more of a symbian fan but since i first saw this phone...i knew i had to get it. Question is whether or not ill get the Xperia X1....silly question...i know ill be getting one of those then selling either the diamond or sending the Xperia X1 back...
The only major niggles i have with the phone is the lagginess of touchflo but as i said i havent applied those tweaks you mentioned...once i have then ill be in a better position to make a judgement. Also the phone seems to lock itself if you leave it etc, and the only way to wake it is by pressing the power button...dont know if theres a way of fixing that little issue.

Yep agree with you there, i have a Diamond with the newest rom and the touchflo is still quite laggy..i just tried opening the messaging and it does lag quite a bit.

Manilla - unsure, most roms seem to be manilla

Hey everyone,
Im using an old DUtty's rom (he hasnt made any in a while). I am wanting to flash with something new, but just about every one of the roms these days seem to be Manilla.
My question is, what is it like? at first glance i dont really like the idea of it.
CHeers
EDIT: and are you able to turn it off so it goes back to the htc home or whatnot?
i really like it, im using garmins with the opal dialer, easily customized with all the skins out there, (see development and hacking), much more useful to me than htc home, which i guess got old, just like the cube. my two cents,
Lupe
Thanks.
What about how it lists emails/sms's? does it just use that silly preview where u have ot go through each one? or can you open it to list the emails?
Cheers
Just flash one You can open it to see them all, or you can scrll through them all.
alright, u guys convinced me!
Going to flash one tonight,
any suggestions?
want one that doesnt lag, and landscape works (i use the keyboard for all typing)

ATT/HTC Pure - Questions (newbie)

Hi!
I am new to this forum but not new to HTC phones.
I just got a new HTC TD2 from ATT as the ATT Pure.
Great phone! and as of this Morning the MS Application store is working great.
questions I am sure many of us will have so might need a sticky
1. Bloatware - how do you get ride all the silly ATT apps/stuff?
2. if I load a new ROM from this sight will it be equal to or better then the RTM of 6.5? basically I don't want to loose the underlying features I just want generic + Radios + store (3G/4G)
3. if I load a ROM from here can I every go back to the factory ROM?
4. How do I: App-unlock, Phone-Unlock (if any) (not SIM unlock)?
5. Donation link - were is that!?
thanks in advance!
aethicus
Search is still king around here. That being said, there are unlock tools available. Check out the ROM development thread.
So far it looks like you are stuck with bloatware unless you flash a different rom.
Good hunting.

So you have a Pure did you reload it?
Not yet, still playing with the stock rom, I've installed my favorites to add to the flavor like Youtube, Wifi sharing and a few from the new MS Marketplace.
So far I'm happy with the ROM, but knowing me, I'll probably end up flashing it tonight.

Please let me know how the flashing goes, what ROM/problems, I know several of us would love to know!
there was a person on the bloatware thread that mentioned they flashed and got more performance. I don't want to loose features like the radios, the MS Store, and Exchange integration. but what I do want is Youtube, Flash, etc. I understand it is supported. the new Opera browser is pretty good and the new IE browser is no sloutch. I don't like the Mail/SMS list, I prefer the threading features of WM 6.1

Will do.
Any ROM other than at&t is going to give you alot better performance all around. When I had my Fuze, I was using NRG's ROMs almost exclusively. Very fast and stable and he always includes all the good stuff without taking up all the memory either.

GTK! when you flashwith another ROM can you still go back to the factory ROM using a master reset? One would thing you are replacing the ROM in Flash and not the actual "ROM"
When you flash a rom you can't go back to stock unless you have the stock rom on a cd from your profider, read de faq's dude
Unless you know how to dump and recompile your stock rom you can't reflash it unless someone on here shares the pure rom which I think they have. Check out the ROM develpment section for Topaz.
I think you will flashing soon because Manila 2.5 kicks ass and the pure don't got it.

Manila is Touchflo 3D. The HTC UI that sits on top of winmo

Playing With Pure
Hey again everyone,
Just got my new PURE yesterday, and went about loading up all my goodies from off my Tilt (anyone wanna buy a used Tilt???)...
One app I like using is WKTask, it allows the title bar to show mini title-bars for open apps (but I'm sure many of you already knew that )... anyway, here's a question for all those wonderful registry hackers out there who may also have just picked up a Pure/Topaz/etc. with a similar issue:::
I'm noticing that Opera 9.5 stays open in memory no matter what I do. I can use the exit menu item in the browser, I can use WKTask's Close or even Terminate, I can even use FDC Task Manager program to find Opera in the Apps list & kill it there... no matter what I do, it keeps popping back up, whether or not I have Manila running off the Today picklist.
The question here is: what is making Opera keep popping back up? Though I like the browser, I don't want it running in the background - until I want it to. Seems to me that maybe something in Manila is keeping a notification queue item rolling that opens Opera - but I've browsed through the notification queue and can't find anything that specifically mentions the browser...
This issue notwithstanding, I must say that I'm so far happy with the Pure (ex the bloatware of course). I've never been daring enough to flash non-stock ROMs... but maybe if the bloatware drives me crazy enough, I might just dive into the kitchen...
Any thoughts on the Opera issue? Thanks!!!

That was my first guess too. Check and see if push internet is off. I don't remember how to get there since I'm using 6.5.1 and Leo Manila but it should be easy.
OK... tried this, and WOW! The wonders of what you discover about your new device when you ask! (after searching, of course)....
I skimmed over the "Push Internet" feature in Manila settings somewhere, but didn't give it much of a thought, since at the time I didn't know what it was - hey, my Tilt didn't have Push-Internet. But seeing how freaking SLOW everything, including SPB Mobile Shell (which I somehow prefer over Manila - I know, it's sacrilege!) was running, I took the advice here about Push Internet, searched on how to disable it, found this link to an article on PocketNow.com which links to a file created by one of XDA-Developers' own, and voila! Instant gratification... and an over 10MB Program memory availability jump.
Thanks everyone for pointing me in the right direction! Cheers!

Custom ROM with NO Sense and NO Manila?

I know I'm gonna get slammed for even posting this but I'm hoping someone can make a recommendation for me. I've been using rom's from xda-developers for years on various devices and now have a Tilt 2. I guess I'm old fashioned because I prefer the WM5 style today screen (screenshot below) and don't like Sense, Manila, or even the default WM6.5 today screen. I'd love to use the Tilt2 roms but am not seeing any that don't include either of those.
Can somebody please recommend a solid and current rom that uses the WM5 style today screen?
Thanks very much...
Greg
just go into today > items and disable windows default on Titanium or disable toughflo on Manilla builds, you'll be left with the original windows 6.1 today screen which is pretty close to that of WM5.
Then you can install all of those plugin that you had there to make it look identical again.

I can do that but was more looking for a rom that didn't have them there to begin with because they may get loaded even though I'm not showing them on the today screen. That's a lot of overhead if they are loaded. No big deal if I'm wrong, I can certainly disable them that way.

Are you recommending the Firestorm ROM or one version of it?
You probably can cook your own from the official ROMs. Da_G gives out ROMs without manila, but it does have titanium in it.
I'm by no means an expert, but I would guess that titanium would be more difficult to remove from an OS build, as it comes as part of WinMo. Manila/Sense comes from HTC, so it is probably easier to break off from the base OS. I'm betting that if you disable Titanium as mentioned above, you'll remove whatever overhead there is.
Also, as mentioned above, Da_G's ROM is sans manila... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=577594 ... it appears to be made specifically for the Tilt 2, judging by the title of the thread.
Hi All,
I too am looking you for this, I can assure you I've flashed almost every rom out there... Da_G is indeed a clean one but I hate the new builds with the big buttons at the bottom...
@ Agent_47, is the rom you propose has this as well I suppose...
