anyone care to chime in on this??? Is it worth going to the spb? Can you install over top of latest Dutty? Looks pretty cool!
Dutty is a rom..... SPB MS 2.0 is a program. It'll run on any rom.
Yeah I know that it is... I guess I was meaning how does it compare to just running HTC home? Worth the buy?

You can download a trial for it. Mods please move this thread the Kaiser Software forum.
but this has nothing to do with dutty's rom..
for me its worth the buy...read more on the spb website
sorry..
Guess I should have posted over there sorry..
SBP products run great and are essential for any phone but I only use SBPdiary w/HTCH on my Today screen. Most of their products run great in the background, SBPTime for powerful alarm clock, stop watch, and world timer. SPB Phone Suite excellent calling features that can run in the background as well.
I typically enjoy HTCHC but from time to time I wish I had the artistic and technological skills to create something different
I have a Tilt, and I tried installing both SPB Shell 2.0 and SPB Pocket Plus 4 on Dutty's April 1st rom, and they worked but did one weird thing, when the phone would boot up the signal would go in and out, flashing there, then not there, then there etc., it would do this for almost a minute before finally locking on a signal.

I would say that the SPB Mobile Screen 2 program is awesome! I have been using it on top of Dutty's Light rom and it works great. Real smooth and responsive, lots of customization options as well as nice fit and finish which is hard to find on a WM6 product.
If you want a free version you can always check out .... to find all the crack codes for almost any software package out there.
As far as the downsides go, it eats battery faster than normal, it does not run on your today screen which bothers me and you can OK through it and go back to your today screen. That problem is slightly solved by SPB making it your default app when you start up the phone and bring it back from sleep which elevates most of the issues.
I just flashed my phone and am going to try giving HTC Home Live a chance, but if I do not think it is customizable enough I am going straight back to SPB... Before I forget to mention, SPB has one of the best opening screens I have seen so far, it has a email, missed calls and text messages right on the front, as well as weather, call options, clock, and the best part a calendar with dates and your schedule all in an easy to read form.
I hope this clears up something for you. Hopefully you wont have to pay for it, but if you do, I would actually say it is worth the 30 bucks.

That's because weather updates on bootup.
It sucks but does level off & then everything works.
Besides that, they both work excellent for me together

I tried the spb mobile shell trial and it's also nice.
Try Pointui as well, you might like it and not buy spb mobile shell at all. The last time I tried this was when it just came out in Alpha stage and it did quite well and was fast with the original, slow wm6 OS that came with my Tilt

Ahh, so that's what's causing it, I was going nuts trying to figure out why that was happening with them, thanks dwny! It does level off after a minute or so like you said and then it's fine, I was thinking it was screwing with my signal or phone, but if it's normal and not a problem, I am putting them back on. I am so glad you posted this, I was missing my SPB stuff, HTC Home just isn't cutting it for me. I had hard reset the Tilt and reloaded Dutty's Rom, and left off those programs because, like I said, I thought it was an error.
Edit-If I shut off the weather, will it stop that behavior? I don't use the weather on SPB MS, It doesn't have the weather for my town of Redwood Valley, I use Weather Bug and Weather Watcher for that. It's weird, I didn't have this issue when running MS or PP on Laurentius's ROM's. I take it that the signal thing is only visual, ie.the signal is actually okay, but while it's updating at boot up it "shows" it as going in and out, no?

Be careful with Point UI, it's tricky to uninstall (there is no uninstall for it in the "remove programs" page), and it leaves pieces of itself of it allover. I tried it too, and it has a ton of potential, but they really need a way to get it off the phone, right now it's an exercise in frustation.

Quick question, what did you think of Point UI? worth installing and flashing again? I am fumbling around with a lot of different UIs? I have tried Ultimate Launch (bit too complicated for me to setup the way I want, SPB Mobile Shell, (but it drains too much batt), HTC home (not customizable enough.) If you could let me know a little more about the POINT UI that would be awesome before I put it on my phone. Thanks buddy.

you tried htc home customizer w/ quick launcher?
There are many customized icons, clocks, backgrounds, and weather views. In addition w/ quick launcher you have an extra row of tabs, which you can change to go to any program (and icons of course).
I stuck with HTC embedded inside Ultimate Launcher.
Ultimate Laucher is not that complicated if you look carefully a little bit of patience and you'll get the hang of it, moreover you could just copy your Ultimatelauncher.ini file as backup to have the same setup each time in case you like flashing roms a lot.
For HTC Home there's HTC Home Customizer, lots of icons to download.
I've tried most of them, but i always end up with the simplest setup I guess I got tired of fancy sliding and multiple clicks, the fewer clicks to find what I need does it for me.
Btw, there's another nice today app I'd like you to see it's rlToday Check it out

First I need to say that I really liked Touchflo3D a lot and I didn't stopped using it because it looks bad or may slow down the Diamond a little bit.
I stopped using it because it reminds me too much of the iPhone...unfortunately minus the iPhone usability.
After I went back to the "classic" stylus and thumb operation, my lost happiness using the Diamond returned back. I also enjoy to be able again to easily read all my appointments and tasks which was almost impossible with Touchflo3D.
Tochflo3D looks great, in my opinion better than the iPhone GUI, kudos to HTC for that.
Unfortunately it doesn't offer the same comfort and usability of the iPhone GUI, so it is useless to me. Once HTC succeeds in integrating WM6.1 into Touchflo3D(or vice versa), I may give it another try but right now, it is just a fancy but pretty much useless GUI which reminds me too much of the iPhone comfort and usability and which of course starts to annoy me once I realize that it doesn't work even close to how good the iPhone GUI works with touch operations.
So if you're annoyed by Touchflo3D but still use it because it looks so nice...STOP using it, you will be much more happy with your Diamond, believe me. Once Touchflo3D is gone, you don't compare it to the iPhone anymore, reminding you of the "good old" stylus/thumb operation days and how good the Diamond can be used that way compared to older devices.
Try it, you may love it.
Good call.
I have done the same and only really miss the cute SMS graphics...
HTC obviously CAN do good interfaces as the old TouchFlo was excellent, but this one just isn't quite there yet, and also feels somewhat fiddly compared to the iPhone.
In the meantime the TD runs much better without TF3D, and you can start realising its full potential. Also you are not tempted to use their somewhat flaky audio player etc and can start to look at other alternatives.
If you want gestures and nice graphics, try SPB Shell 2. Works very well and looks great.
Otherwise, try using the device as the WM6 phone it so obviously is, and start to enjoy it...
from the first i didnt like the Touchflo3D its buggy so i disable it and use the normal mode
Yeah, I do fully agree to that!
The "classic" windows mobile interface looks very well on the diamond,
and without TF3D it's fast as hell!
Spb mobile shell is the best interface.
Touch Flo 3d was slow and killed the diamond.
Have to agree with most of the posts in here, TF3D is nice but its such a resourcce hog that after almost a day of using the Diamond...the phone becomes so sluggish even with the tweaks enabled.
Im seriously considering going to the normal non tf3d screen as it doesnt eat as much memory/resources as the tf3d does.
Seriously just try leaving the phone for most of the day and u will see that from 50% it goes up to 70% and makes the phone very sluggish.
Saying that i do hope HTC fix it with a future rom update or perhaps one of the guys in here can do it becuase its a nice interface when it works.
Registry switch for toiuchflow3d?
Does anyone have the registry switch details for touchflow 3d? Thanks.
windows mobile is one ugly thing and the stylus...no thanks...
when i get the touch pro..tf3d it is.

Pardon my earlier stupid question re a registry switch for touchflo. It is of course, as pointed out, simply a today plugin, easily disabled by a t(h)ick!
Well, apparantly some people haven't heard of flashing your phone. My TD with TF3D is fast as hell with my new rom.
Hi
I also disabled Touchflo3D. Is there another possibility to access the weather-application from Touchflo3D? Or does anybody know a similar programm running with WM 6.1?
after you install spb mobile shell, how do you disable/remove touchflo? and make spb shell the default one etc
Settings-today-items:check SPB and remove the check from tf3D ..DONE!

Which ROM are you using?
Using TLR now, and I really can't stop using TFLO3D.
It's damn fast here, and really, getting the everyday things done (read sms, read mail, launch a navigator, make a picture) TFLO3D is really, really good.
No buggs at all, and really fast. The first ones were a bit sluggish, but I can wipe my finger "left-right-left-right" in 1 second, and TFLO3d follows it perfectly.
In terms of usability for me, it gets at least 8 out of 10. There are some things I miss, like reordering my tabs and GETTING A DECENT CALENDAR but for the rest its great.
It brings back the simpleness of a mobile phone to the foreground, while still you have a suberb device at the background.
I quite like it too but I do miss the exact things you have just mentioned. I'm not looking for a replacement, but I do wonder can it be hacked so we can get more out of it? Or must we wait for HTC to listen to our cry for help. This is my first HTC device so I don't know, but from what I hear we should not be holding our breath. This surprised me, as I buy other HTC's for my staff at work, and HTC's reputation to me was exemplary, and they are the market leaders. Then I came here, and now I hear so much bad stuff about them.

You never used an iPhone, did you?
I'm using the TLR ROM too but Touchflo3D is C.R.A.P..
I owned WM phones before(TyTN, TyTN II, i780, etc.) and I like Windows Mobile, version 6.1 is really a good step towards a finally very well working phone OS, I just can't wait to see WM7. Like I said before, Touchflo3D LOOKS great, much better than the iPhone GUI but operation SUCKS bigtime, not even close to iPhone. Don't forget that HTC started the whole "touch" series because of the iPhone, not because people really asked for it. That said, a comparison to the iPhone is mandatory and yes, I know, the display technology is completely different and WM6.1 lacks a proper finger touch operation API, right.
I removed Tochflo3D because I wanted to have an almost perfect "classic"(stylus, sometimes fingers) Windows Mobile phone, not a half-bread iPhone wannabee.
What can I say? I'm a happy camper now, especially since I can for example see five different calender events on the same page without having to touch the unit.
Regarding Touchflo3D improvements: I'm not sure we're going to see substantial improvements to the usability(speed isn't really the issue), unless some genius programmer finds a clever way to cope for the different display technology and missing "real" finger usage API of WM6.1. I also wish somebody here on xda-developers with brains and time on this hand could "integrate" WM6.1(icons, etc.) much more into Touchflo3D, so Touchflo3D doesn't look and feel sometimes like a simple GUI "cover" only.
I'm pretty sure that Windows Mobile 7 will be the answer to all our questions and hopes but til then...well...hello Touch Diamond II or whatever it's name will be.
Ok so this is actually my first time posting in a long time. i do regularly flash the great roms on this site and use the cabs that are presented here. wonderful work guys.
ok so my question is, is it possible for someone to write some software for some widgets like the ones on the new Samsung I900? I know that it runs off WM 6.1 Pro. But is the today screen widget system a flash program? or built in somehow? it would be so cool to have something like that on the today screen of my 6.0 kaiser. ive seen so many different UIs its hard to name them all. they are all pretty cool in their own ways, but if someone made this as a cab that would be awsome. i know someone will be dumping the I900 rom sometime soon. hopefully!!!!
thanks,
vince
i dont get it, so nobody thinks this is possible? any takers....bueller...bueller...

well. the Omnia I900 is a new phone that is being put out by Samsung. If you watch the video posted above youll see the widgets that i am talking about. they seem to be flash based. sort of like the ones in vista. i wonder about how much memory they take up. the phone has some other cool things as well like the screen rotate transitions. i love the one from this device. hope some programmers here can chime in on this one.

Apart from the dragging and dropping of widget from the sidebar, everything else is able to be reproduced on wm6 using various methods. rlToday and MobileShell are starting points. The i900 is not that great of a phone.
I figured out the Widgets app is called TouchWiz. i was wondering if anyone has been able to make a cab out of this? i would probably use it if it were available. ive tried a lot of shells, launchers, plugins, they are all cool but none seem to be the end all OS-replacement. by that i mean that they cant do everything yet. some will do some things good and others do other things good, but none do everything good! i know its a lot to ask for from just a shell, but if the next iphone (not 3g version) is any good with a 3rd party following thats growing, i might jump on. its gonna take some great plugs and an awsome os update to keep me on the windows mobile wagon.
i really wish they would start to try and move away from teh stylus usage on their future OS versions. like the Omnia. this would make alot of people happier i think.

-Price - Currently over $1,100 in Australia vs. TyTnII free on most caps. Ouch.
- Poor finger menu navigation. Like most WM6 devices, the underlying OS is designed for stylus use, not thumbs. Comes with a stylus but no slot to put it in the phone.
- No physical keyboard, and dodgy software keyboard which cover 3/4 of the screen making it impossible to see what your typing underneath.
- Haptic touch is cool, but the glossy body is really bad (good?) at collecting fingerprint smudges. Carrying a cloth all day is pretty lame too.
- Battery life is ok, except when using GPS or 3G/HSDPA- reports of going from 100% to fully flat in under 40 mins while using satnav & about 3 hrs talk time on 3G. Cant personally verify this because I only played in-store for about half an hour - google around though..
- Can't use it as a bluetooth HSDPA modem for laptop/PC. Even my 5 yr old nokia can do this..
- Annoying automatic screen orientation, way too sensitive when you moving your arm around and the screen starts freaking out and spinning.
- Reports of random shut downs. Cnet reviewer had 2 in 3 days & pressing the Power On button does not help - have to physically remove and re-insert the battery to reset it.
- Useless "widgets" - Stock ROM does not include Calendar, Messaging or mainstream apps. Like the nazi-esque licensing for the iphone app store, you're not allowed to add / develop non-Samsung-approved apps. So for the time being you have a fancy looking but useless desktop. Standard WM6 "today" screen & various plugins is much much more usable.
Bottom line is its fashion over function. Some will love it, but there's too much iPhone mentality going on to even consider it for folks like me (I like to tweak and fiddle with everything to make a system that suits me perfectly - way better phones already out that can do this easier (TyTnII, imho) )
I do like the camera though, and the weird not-quite-VGA 240x400 resolution.
I agree. I am not interested in flashing a new ROM but would rather customize a few features usings cabs and so forth.
There are some widgets that I would like to use myself. This is very similar to the Vista sidebar that I have become familiar with and appreciate now.
Hi,
i found the related widgets, on rapidshare or megauload.it works fine
on a Qvga pda, but on mine (I780) i have resolution problems
Bye
Herc.
yeah i found a thread in the general-hacking and development section where someone has already made a cab for the widgets. after installing you have to reset your device for them to appear in the today plugins selection. the widgets are really cool but not being able to edit the apps they control at the moment kinda sucks. some of them dont do anything because they are supposed to be connected to programs in the Omnia I900
Hi, not sure if this is the correct thread to post this, so feel free to remove it, pelase.
I just recently upgraded to the new opentouch, the one with the flash integrated..and I want to actually go back to my old version, the only problem is I don't remember which one that was.
It came standard black, I believe it was the first opentouch to include WM 6.1, there was none of that cube, scrolling, anything of that. It was plain, and that's the way I want my phone.
Does anyone know which version it was?
Sorry for double post, but to be more specific:
It essentially didn't really come wit anyting extra. None of the icontacts, none of that. I think the only extra programs/features it came with were threaded text messaging, and opera mini.

Hi everybody, I recently got a Diamond2 and found that the enormous amount of expertise and help available at xda-developers have really helped me enjoy this phone. The phone is not locally supported by any carriers or retailers in Canada so the availability of these forums have been a real help. I've run through most of the issues I've had with the phone (really like the Pro2 Interface better but was way to bulky) but have a few remaining that I haven't been able to find satisfactory answers for, hope you guys will be able to help.
I've downloaded and played around with what seem to be most of the prerequisite softwares: Advanced Config Tool, Klaxon, Changescreen etc. and have also made a couple of registry modifications to enable TF3D rotation and things like that. Here is where I'm getting into a bit of trouble. Although changescreen is a great app I just don't like to install a lot of things on my device and decided to try the regedit. After a soft reset it seemed to work great but was quite slow in switching over to landscape and back. At first I though this was a problem with the g-sensor so I opened up Opera to try it out and found that it was much faster. Obviously it's a lot less graphically intense but I was playing around with a Touch Pro2 before I bought the Diamond2 and it is also significantly faster, with the same processor and everything. I've tried to reduce the sampling time for the g-sensor down from 200ms to 100ms in ACT but that didn't really seem to help. Also I get some really weird lines across the tops of TF3D pages in landscape; in the All Contacts page for example the bar that contains "Search Contacts" will have at least three sets of distorted lines across it at regular intervals across the page. The wallpaper also seems to malfunction as instead of staying as it was, it will stretch across the width of the screen and as a result become extremely distorted. The dialer doesn't go into landscape but that seems to be a common issue. I've downloaded the Rhodium Phone Dialer although I haven't had a chance to install it yet, maybe that will fix the dialer issue.
I do have some app installed that changes the background of all tabs to be the same and this seems to have messed with the transparency of the tab bar and, occasionally the phone will fail to respond to screen swipes that would usually cycle through the tabs without using the tab bar. Maybe this app is also causing the other problems.
The help on these forums has already been a great asset and I was just hoping that I would be able to get some simple fixes for the issues with the landscape thing without having to install more software. Thanks in advance for any help, its all appreciated. Cheers.
PS, rom is 1.39.421.0 (47382) WWE
what you can do to improve things:
1. ditch stock rom and use tess rom
2. install flipit for rotation software - its better than the rest IMO
Thanks for the quick reply
Thanks for the quick reply, sorry I wasn't able to reply right away, got a bit busy at uni.
I was a bit apprehensive about installing a new rom but the one you recommended is amazing. The speed increase alone is unbelievable, doesn't even feel like the same device.
Everything is working great and the rotation is really fast now on everything except TF3D. It almost looks like it attempts to rotate and then fails. The title bars rotate around and then rotate back. I've added the regedit, manually removed and added it back into flip_it, but nothing seems to be working. Aside from that everything else seems perfect. Hope you'll be able to help, and once again, thanks.
oh yeah.. forgot to mention about manila in landscape
go to search and look for At0mAng & Danny_and_2 TF3D2 Tweak cab for topaz
install, and in the list of programs, there is option called Manila Rotate ON.
and thats it, you are all set...
hope this helps

I am also new to Topaz.
Running on stock ROM
been reading around. reading on the various rom threads to decide which to use.
I am looking for something stable, fast (aren't we all?) and 6.1. Still got Manila and hopefully with Titanium built in. Also if possible with ringtones removed.
What would you recommend?
Thanks

Almost there
Thanks for the tip about the tweak program, installed it and followed your directions, manila is now rotating. However, its still incredibly slow; in the range of 3-5 seconds for transition to landscape and then around 1-2 seconds back to portrait. Also, those distortive lines I described earlier are back.
I was hoping for the kind of speed seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPVgN5QuzO4 but I do realize that its a different rom. I've disabled and enabled TF3D and also done a soft reset, but no speed increase. I was thinking it may be a hardware issue but everything else works fine. One thing I have noticed though is that since installing this rom some programs get stuck half rotated and the other half of the screen will display the TF3D home page. Once again, thanks for all the help so far.
P.S. If I disable TF3D the blank today screen will rotate at the same speed as in that video if not faster. Also before when the menus rotated but not TF3D they were rotating at the same fast speed.
yes, I know what you mean.. at this stage, manila rotates pretty slow for me too...
I guess at the moment, we have to live with it... the slow rotation only happens on tf3d2 rite? the rest is ok...
as with hardware issue, I am sure it is not, cause topaz is still relatively new...
btw, Manila 2.1 is around, and manila 2.5 is coming too... so, maybe they would give better performance .
btw, the youtube link is a rom made by Tom Condon, and as you probably know, he is very active in building rom for topaz too... why dont you give him a message, or try his rom...
Tha
sorry double post again..
Sounds good
Glad to know that it wasn't just a one off issue. I'll give his rom a shot, was kind of wary b/c of the comments that said WM 6.5 was slow. Would you be able to direct me to somewhere that I'd be able to download TF3D 2.1 alone without a rom upgrade or anything or maybe even cooked into the TESS rom. Thanks for the incredible quick reply and for all the help so far.
