Hi,
I currently use VLC to stream video and music from my fileserver to my laptop when away from home.
I noticed that the phone has an application called Streaming Media, but can't seem to get it to pick up the media stream from VLC. Not sure if i'm doing something wrong.
Is there a VLC app or similar for WM 6.1 which allow me to watch these streams?? would make thing a lot easier!
For info, I am connected to the fileserver via Hamachi VPN software!
did u try from VLC RTSP ?
As I know the streaming application comes with Diamond support RTSP, In fact I didn't try it.
I used in the past (with P3300) streaming with SHOUTCAST
(only music) , and open it with TCPMP (CorePLayer today)
There is SHOUTCAST (or ICECAST open source) for TV as well
Try it and let us know
OK,
I tried with VLC and it's working, here is small guide:
1. open file(s) you want to stream
2. select Stream/save and open properties
3. select MMSH and put your Internal IP (192.168.x.x)
or something else (127....)
4. select the port number
5. Encapsulation Method select mp4
6. Video Codec mp4v Bitrate 96kb/s (If you have High
bandwidth you can put higher to get better results ofcorse..)
7. Audio Codec mpga Bitrate 16kb/s (If you have High
bandwidth you can put higher to get better results ofcorse..)
8. Press ok
9. define in your Firewall what u need
(open the port and forward it to local IP, If u using Wifi in your local network so no needs..)
10. with CorePlayer (I think with TCPMP is should work as well) open URL mms://your_host_name : port (without spacing)
and here we go!!
Good luck !!
Right, Have manage to get this working in a fashion, but could only find TCMP to download on here.
I managed to get a a streaming picture, but no sound. Also, the picture kept buffering every 10-15 secs.
Not sure if this had anything to do with using the phones HDPSA connection to stream the film over or not.
Does anyone know where I can download a copy of the coreplayer from for WM6.1 to try.
Has anyone ever tried streaming with Windows Media Encoder to the phones media player? (not too sure if this can be done?)
You should search plugin (s) for TCPMP , it should fix your Audio ,
It's importent to install all on the Device memory, otherwise u may get Audio problems..
or:
http://www.coreplayer.com/
but It cost $$ ...
how much is the coreplayer and is it worth the money?
U can find the price in the site, on the other hand, TCPMP (0.72RC1 ) with all the plugin(s) (aac, ac3, flv) doing the same..

I haven't been able to get any audio or video streams to work on the kaiser. I have tried both IE and Opera. With my treo 750 windows media player would open and the stream would begin. With the kaiser, I get a message re: save or open stream. Neither selection works. Any thoughts?
Bump please. I can't figure this out.
Pocket Player will stream .pls and other formats as well as wma. I found that the best way to do it is to set up PP as the default device associated with all media types (omfg I wish I could uninstall WMP). Then maneuver to the streaming link on your mobile browser (dito for Opera over PIE) and click on the streaming link and PP should open and pick it up. Works like a dream.
I always use KCRW to test streaming capability - it's the most reliable and stable I have found (not to mention it's also an awesome station...). Click on the "Listen" link and then look for the "Stand Alone Player" links. I prefer mp3 streams.
Hope this helps.
On my Kaiser I took some movies. They were in .MP4 format. I copied the files to my PC and when trying to play them on the PC (by double-clicking on the file in the windows explorer) - I get this error message in a dialog box:
Title: Error
Text: Error -2041: an invalid sample description was found in the movie (VIDEO_011.MP4)
When I try to open the file in the latest updated version of Windows Media Player 11, I get an error message saying it cannot play this sort of file. I do have MP4 codecs on my PC as well.
Lastly, when I copy the files back onto my PPC and then open the camera application, I am still able to open and play the files with no problem on the Kaiser.... so there is nothing wrong with the files... so what the heck?!?! HALP!
try quicktime it does a good job with mp4 files
people been reporting mixed results getting mp4 codecs to play
in other players sometimes there were no audio somethings it dident work
at all
Perhaps you could try googling 'K Lite Media pack'. This is highly recommended by many, and it works great for me. It plays so many different file types, such as flv files (say if you downloaded a youtube video and wanted to play it straight away) and I'm pretty certain, MP4 files too. The player you play videos with is called 'Media Player Classic'.
yes, get k lite mega codec pack
Tilt MP4 Videos unviewable on PC - Vista Ultimate Upgrade results in...
I even upgraded to Windows Vista (via download) to try to get this to work. I figured waiting long enough after it first comes out (it's been one YEAR), they would have ironed out all the bugs. Also figured since Vista SP1 was about to come out I could stumble along with whatever my issues were until it was released in case I still had problems...
I am more gutsy than most to do things like this with my PC because I automated a backup of only files that have changed, the first time I turn on my PC each day, to an external drive which I can just grab and run with in case my home ever catches on fire, etc. Runs in the background and only takes about 10 minutes, that has saved my butt more than once...
I specified only upgrade rather than a fresh install, so none of my programs or data would be lost:
1. All my data was lost anyway !!!!! Thank goodness for the backups!
2. All my browser favorites were blown away !!!! Thank goodness for the backups!
3. Almost everything also worked except for several drivers that I had to go to the vendor's website to download an upgrade. Good thing I am not using any hardware from vendors that have gone out of business. (I had to replace an old leading-edge technology $2,000 flat panel monitor because of that once.)
4. Tilt MP4 Videos unviewable on PC !?!!? AARRRGGGGGGGGHHGGHGHGGGHHHHH!
I'll try the "K Lite Mega Codec Pac" but have a couple of questions in the next post -

K Lite Mega Codec Pac
What "K Lite Mega Codec Pac" do to your PC? Is it removeable? Does it overwrite other codecs you might have? Does it come with a program for managing your codec settings and what is in use vs. not in use, or what?
Let me know, I really want to try it but I will wait for your response/s...
i would advise against using k-lite codec pack, if you really want a good codec pack, try cccp.
however, if all you wanna do is just watch the mp4 files, i suggest that you just use vlc, linky
Why is cccp better?
Why is cccp better, and how do I removed the codecs which I prefer not to use?
well, cccp is technically not a codec pack......its a filter pack, and has quite a few endorsements, its definitely the way to go if u need to play multiple video formats. the problem with most codec packs is there's high chances of damaging ur system if you dont know what you are installing. you may end up having multiple codecs for one video format. most ppl would tell you to avoid using any codec pack because the problems it would cause, i used to think the same, until i discovered cccp, seriously excellent when it comes to mkv playback.
however, like i said, if you're worried so much about codecs being installed on your system, just go ahead and use vlc, its a standalone player with its own decoders, doesnt install any codecs to your system watsoever.
Hey! Just transfered a video as I did record with my TD, but I can't play it on windows? It neither says how long the video is, or can see it..
You'll need to download divx codecs.
http://www.free-codecs.com/Codec_Pack_All_In_1_download.htm
For some reason windows media player can't recognize video taken from a PPC by default. It also can't play a DVD by default. They make you install all this extra crap before you can get to the meat & potatoes.
How shaggy! But thx though ! ^_^
Download
Should the codecs be downloaded to my laptop or the diamond, are the codecs for the diamond or laptop?
Codecs are for your PC/laptop. Just download, install, & open the files you want to play.
since I am no friend of codec-pacs... would you be so kind and let us know exactly which of them is used?

many thanks!
Ok. I recorded some video on my AT&T Tilt with a memory card. It plays fine on my phone. Well I want to get it on my computer. When I tried to, it was in the MP4 format. So I opened it with Quicktime and iTunes and it wouldn't play. It said there was an error. So I was gonna convert it. I tried to, but it gave me a warning saying that it would have no sound, so I didn't do that. Then I downloaded VLC Player and when I played the videos, they didn't have sound. I tried putting them in Windows Media Center, didn't work. I tried ActiveSync. Didn't work. There has to be some possible way to do this. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!
Same thing happens to me. Now I just record in the other format, QIF I believe. And that works fine.
THANKYOU!!!!!!!!!!
how did you even get "good" video playback?
how did you even get "good" video on the TILT? is it the change in file type that makes the video better in itself? where do you change it?
You can change to CIF by selecting it from the Capture Settings menu (hit menu when the camera is running) under Resolution. The capture format can be changed from MPEG-4 to H.263 if you go to Advanced > Capture Format.
Recording in a well-lit environment helps. I'm not usually affected by placebo, but I and a few other users have reported increased camera performance after installing the latest test drivers for the Kaiser from htcclassaction.org. It DID seem that the framerate was higher. I can't rule out the possibility that updating to windows mobile 6.1 may have made a difference, but I know I don't keep apps running in the background and the comparison whilst not scientific would be pretty fair.
What can be used to view H.263 on the home pc? Will media player play it? And is there a good reason why it just doesn't record to .wmv or regular old mpeg? As you can tell I am a moron when it comes to video.
VLC will read it

QuickTime will play H.263 encoded files.
The Tilt does not use WMV or MPEG because they do not have formats optimized for mobile devices, so the files end up being huge.
Thanks, that makes sense!
my mp4 videos run fine on wm player! try downloading the vista or xp codec pack which is available on most torrent sites
I know its old but anyway...I record video w/ my kaiser, bluetooth the video over to my laptop, convert with WM convert, open w/ movie maker, edit then post. Sooooooooo easy and no cables required!
You're all going through waaaay to much by using converters & what not. When recording in mpeg4 format just rename the files to ".3gp" after you transfer them to your computer and they will play regularly through quicktime with sound & everything intact.
download K lite codec pack: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_lite_codec_pack.htm
it will allow windows media player to play ANYTHING, throw and file at it and it will play
VLC Works for me
VLC works for me, try it

Use a converter to be able to edit the video in windows movie maker, it takes like 10 seconds to convert a MPEG4 to WMV. (i've got the codec pack but in order to edit the video you need to convert it.)
Hello the program "mobile Streaming" is preset with the rtsp://
I tried this one to stream rtsp://mobilstream.antenne.de/antenne.sdp and it fails allways to connect.
I thought the rstp is a real player thing. SO what exactly is the application mobile streaming try to do ? Anybody knows more about it ? IS this a real player aplication, and if so why not working if not why is it preset with rstp.
Thanks
I'm no geek but I think it may be all about the file being streamed.
I have had no problems with CorePlayer, HTC own Streaming Media and VLC.
One thing that I have been doing is emailing the stream info to my mobile from my PC and saving .pls files to the mobile.
The only thing I do with realplayer is to get live bbc london radio from the .ram, hope the above helps.
Your rtsp link just don't work. It's either firewall or a router problem, but not of the player.
What does the player do ?
Well it supports rtsp protocol to read H264/AAC (and maybe other) files.
Please note this has NOTHING to do with a real application.
These protocol and codecs are fully standarized, and are the most commonly used ones. (I'd say it's the only proper way to stream actually.)
