Ameo Microdrive broken-not sure - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo Accessories

Hello XDA People!
I have since yesterday a used German Tmobile Ameo X7500.
I'm not sure, but I think the Microdrive is broken.
What does not help:
- Formatting
- Hard reseting
- See or open MD in Explorer or other Apps
- USe WM5torage (he freezed)
- Tested ROM's: Orig Tmobile ENG WM5, WM6 HTC Orig ENG, Orig Tmboile WM6 ENG.
But strangely enough, does the VueFlo sensor, and its inside the MD or not?
I appreciate your help!
Regards

BlueAngel WM5 on FTP!

There is a file pda2K_2k5.rar on FTP that contains the WM5 ROM for BlueAngel. Origin of the file is unknown, flashing it to my device showed that it is really a WM5 ROM that is working. The OS version is 5.1.1700 build 14343, it has MS bluetooth stack and no camera. The camera drivers are present, so I think it would be possible to extract app from Himalaya ROM.
It has no MMS application and no SIM toolkit.
I've repartitioned DOC, so now I have 61Mb storage area and 128Mb RAM that are fully accessible.
All hardware buttons are working, and the keyboard is working fine, though there is no control panel applet that allows you to turn off its backlight.
Making hardreset is tricky - you have to press camera, record, power and reset buttons simultaneously. There you'll have a choice to use debugger (something about KITL), reset registry and format built-in storage. Navigation in menu is done with camera and record buttons, exit - "mail" button.
Thanks download now .
great it working thanks
So glad I worked late tonight...
Unbelievable!
Awesome etc.
I think the simplest thing to say is: THANK YOU!
That will not stop me from buying a native WM5 PDAphone like the Universal or the Wizard, but still I'm really happy this happened. If only that could force O2, I-Mate, Qtek etc. to sell an official upgrade, that would be nice...
Until now, I had to put my BA in reserve and used my XDAII for everyday for a single problem: BT!!! Maybe the MS stack here will do as good as the one in my XDAII 1.72. Just need my GPS and headset to work properly. The rest is luxury at this point.
BTW, Mamaich, is the procedure similar as the one for Himalaya WM5? Any difference?
Cheers,
Hal
Mamaich, it's time to make tweaking for the camera and especially the O/S speed.. :?
Did someone take down that RAR file? I can't seems to find it anywhere under BA section on the FTP site.

It would not work on any device other than BA.

At first we need a ROM image rom Universal or better an official ROM update.
unbelievable brother mamaich...but its true...
Erm...
This is not the same file as on Buzzdev.net is it?
The version is different.
Think I'd have better luck with this one?
Hi Mamaich,
I installed WM5.0 on my PDA2k but unlike you, i only got 49MB storage space. How is it that you got 61MB while i got only 49MB. What did i do wrong?
Also, why am i not able to synchronise with outlook after the rom upgrade?
Thirdly, i can pair my BT headset with my PDA2k but it does not transfer any calls to the headset. I tried using a BT GPS and that works perfectly fine. What do u suppose the problem is?
Would appreciate your comments.
UD.
Has anyone here yet or not weather or not this will work with Sprint or Verizon CDMA phones yet?
Wherez the ROM on the FTP, i searched but i couldnt find it. Its not under BA. Where is it? Is it different from the one that Buzz had on his site?

Still no luck with VZW CDMA, and I haven't heard of a successful case yet.
Yes, the file is the same as the one on Buzz's site.

Hi all
I´ve searched the registry with no luck at all... Is there anyway to lower the backlight brightness? Cause like this it drains the battery really fast! Rudra was right :?
Hey btw i´ve tried my Bt headset and it works better than before!! at least i can go like 5 - 6 meters from my phone and still hear the caller

sx66 (PH20B1) problem in WM5 ..

Dear Friend ,
First of all thx for all expert here of their hard work in WM5
I have install the ba_wm5_fix_v3 ... it got the backlight opition , but cannot adjust, is it a known bug of SX66 ?
I check the wiki and old post already, seem all PH20B work find ... just wanna ak how about B1 ?
thx
sorry for everything if i done anything wrong , since it is 3:38AM now in Hong Kong, I am tired ....but excited for WM5...thx every expert
It's a known problem that the backlight cannot be adjusted easily.
That said, somehow I am able to set my backlight options now (time outs and so forth).
It may been some software that I installed and remover (Battery plus or Spb Today Plus?)
Hi, since yesterday I've installed the WM5 one more time, and I installed "SPB Pocket Plus 2.5" (works great) and I have no problems to adjust the backlight with that tool

Is there any NO BRAND ROM for Alpine?

I hate branded roms like O2 and others. I like unbranded roms like qtek I-mate, etc. Unfortunatelly i don't find any for Alpine. Any help?

The solution is simple - make your own. 8) That's what I did anyway.
Just remove the stuff you don't want from an O2/T-mobile or whatever operator's ROM, change the splash image, and add any other things that you find useful. Then burn.
Even as a newbie, the only thing which I found difficult was changing the splash image, but I eventually worked it out. If you need a detailed explanation, just shout!
why did you buy one from them
i have a imate alpine for just that reason and i am happy
bios backup via rawwrite method in addtion to sprite backup onto 2gb

help with spv m700

can someone pls help me with my m700
i want to put the phone pad and t9 on it
can someone explain to me in plain english how to do this, as new to this.
me too
yeah i want to do this too. I was thinking of upgrading to dopod rom to get this but i want to be able to go back to the original orange one if i need to.
progress
Right i have been playing around tonight and this is what i have found.
Orange M700 with ext rom installed - phonepad installs but doesnt work
Orange M700 with ext not rom installed - phonepad installs but doesnt work
Orange M3100 with ext rom installed - phonepad installs but doesnt work
Orange M3100 with ext not rom installed - phonepad installs but AND WORKS
i can only assume that there is something in the m3100 ext rom that is stopping phonepad from working and that it must be natively there in the m700. I even tried my installing my m700 extrom on my m3100 and phonepad still worked after this.
So my conclusion is that there is some update or something in the m3100 extrom that is natively installed on the m700 that causes phonepad not to work.
this is about the end of the road for me, someone with more brains than me will have to take over.
never found out in the end how to do this, so i've now sent the phone back!
someone must know how to do this.
It has been on these forums for a while now. Me and the others who were looking for it all got ours sorted i think after someone told us how.
What i did was to
1. install G4 SIP software
2. soft reset
3. install phonepad, english or the multi language one.
4. soft reset
5. go into settings, sytem, and load G4 SIP hide. In there make phonepad the default.
Should all be done then.
Works everytime for me after i have hard reset. Which in the last few days has been quite a few as i have been testing things.
Hope this helps.
ps. works on hermes too.
I have the SIP program installed but the Phonepad never runs - keeps bringing up the standard keyboard.
Any ideas? Thanks
finally thanxs for all your help make the phone worth having now
So can anyone help me? THe phonepad simply doesnt do anything on my M700 - it justs brings up the keyboard.
I cant believe this thread is still going. This is the same problem everyone has if you dont follow the instructions using SIP tweak.
Just follow my instructions above. So far it has worked for everyone who has tried it that i know of. I cant believe your phone is the only one that doesnt.
oh and i notice that you have posted asking the same question in the other forum about this. Dont double post. What is the point in confusing the situation.
If you have installed the phonepad and you have installed g4 sip tweak and the phonepad will not show then i would have said you probably havent changed the default setting in g4 sip tweak.
OK apologies I was only asking a question. I have since hard reset my device and installed the SIP tool and phonepad as the first things. It now works OK. Thanks for your help.
good good, thats what we like to hear.
Sorry to sound moody, i know it is an arse when you cant get it to work. Me and Warnysouth were asking around for a few days before the solution came out.
Good to hear you got it working though.
Rob
Sorry to bring back this thread, but, I have followed the steps exactly and the keyboard is still the default application...?
Still not working
Mine also will not activate the Phone Pad. It lists it, but everytime I select it, it brings back up the keyboard. I followed the instructions exactly. I even tried Hard-Reseting my phone and then installing g4 SIP, soft reset then Phonepad (which then restarted automatically) then soft reset, changed G4 SIP setting to Phone pad and still the same old keyboard.
It's a Trinity Orange M700.
In 'about' it say my phone is:
OS 5.1.342
Build 15096.3.0.0
Please can someone assist us?!
there is somthing inherently wrong with the Orange (out of the box) ROM, it can be made to work, however many have found it easier to change the rom for either MUN-RUS or LSVW's WM6 which have the phone pad built in, AND will let you select it and the change sticks.
As for warranty, I wouldnt worry, for 2 reasons, they are more likey to want the phone backa dn send you a replacement, and IF needs be there is an un-official Full Orange rom knocking around here in case you need to go back

If you also install this file along with the G4 SIP tweak it seems to work consistanly, even after resets
I extracted this from mUns WM5 rom and use it on my M700 with the original Orange ROM
oooo good work that man
Fixed! But how dumb...
Thanks for your additional tips.
I managed to get it to work in the end. Firstly I was using G4 SIP from program files, when I should have been going to it in Settings. This didn't fix it initially, just got me closer. Then I found out that if I use G4 SIP to hide everything BUT Phone Pad then Tada! it worked! I've unhidden the keyboard now and it will quite happily switch between the two. This ROM is a pain.... I will look into some of the WM6 ROMs kicking around and weigh up if it's going to be easy for me to flash it using Orange. Ta Muchly!
Thanks for the instructions Rob - I got my M700 at the end of last week - installed PhonePad as per your instructions - works fine. Having a spot of bother dumping the ROM - but I'm sure i'll get round it. Thanks again.
Cris.
Why dump your rom... there is already an orange ROM out on here, one of the chaps dumped his for us before he re-romed.

Help Improve My XDA2i and Wi-Fi Problem

Hi
I havent performed any upgrades to my XDA2i (official or otherwise) for at least 3 years - are there any upgrades I should consider?
Here is my Device Info
ROM Version : 1.11.00 WWE
ROM Date : 01/27/05
Radio Version : 1.00.00
Protocol Version : 1337.39
ExtROM Version : [THIS IS BLANK]
Model Number : PH10C
Also, I am unable to connect to WiFi with my XDAIIi
The device finds wifi signals and sometimes will make a connection - but when I try and open a webpage I get a screen showing "IIS7" and nothing else.
Here are my settings for WiFi :
Network Card Connects to tiacxwin Campatible Wireless Ethernet (for both The Internet and Work).
Power Save slider is set for Best Performance.
Thanks for any help and advice !!!
Paul
I am in a similar position Paul.
I have been given a 02 XDAll by my company to use for recording surveys.
Its bog standard like yours.
I'd really like to upgrade it but the problem is there is almost too much written about it on these forums .Most of it is so old and out of date that all the links are broken. Its hard work trawling through it.
What is needed is a simple basic upgrading overview listing all the options but I suppose everyone has moved on to more recent PDA's and are no longer interested in these
I've posted a similar request in the Himilayer section .Maybe we can share what we find
Nick
Nick, do you have a Himalaya or an Alpine? PH10B or PH10C?
The Alpine is stuck on WM2003, perfectly good for its task just not upgradeable to WM5 or WM6.
As for customising it realy depends what you are looking for.
Hi DeeDee thank you for responding. I feel guilty hyjacking Paul's thread.
Mine is a Himalaya 10B
with following spec
02 XDAll
2Gb SD card
Rom 1.72.00WWE
Date03/15/04
Radio 1.17.04
ext Rom 1.72.18.1
Ram 128Mb
Model PH10B
I just wanted to improve the Active page if its possible .I cannot read the tiny text so large button icons like the Diamond would be useful
I cannot set the Internet access up either ? have tried for hours.
I have a Netgear Wireless Modem router DG834G but neither the manual or quick guide explain how to set up the XDA .
I have spent several days trawling this site and the net.
Any help appreciated thank you
Nick,
No problem joining in - if we can get the WiFi problem sorted I would be more than happy.
DeeDee,
Should my ExtROM Version be completely blank?
Thanks
Paul
Hi Paul
you're up early !
I have used WM5 on an XDA Mini S (Wizard) a couple of years ago. I imagine that most of the current software and apps are written for WM5 orWM6 so it will mean I'll need to upgrade to WM6. Presume that means flashing the Rom which judging by the number of disasters on this forum is not something I'd do lightly.
Particularly as there are virtually no answers to requests for help.
I found a statement last night that basically says unless you are a software developer you arn't welcome on this forum which probably explains the lack of help.
Yours has the 128 Rom as apposed to my 64Mb which is a big advantage. I have gone off the idea of buying a Himalaya or an Alpine as they are too antiquated really which is a shame as I love the build quality and screen size.
I'm going to look for something a bit more contemporary I think . In the mean time I'll enjoy using the works XDA ll
Hi
Flashing the Himalaya to WM5 or WM6 is painless and it has to be said slightly addictive, you will try many ROMs until you find one you like. Think I have tried most of the ROMs for the Himalaya.
The lack of help has NOTHING to do with not being a developer, i'm not one and have had lots of help. The problem is probably due to the lack of people using these PPCs. i have to confess my Himalaya is purely there as something to muck about with, work didn't want it any more. i have a Trinity as primary PPC phone and an Alpine with an application that doesn't work on WM5.
You won't get your Himalaya to connect to your WiFi as it doesn't do WiFi without an add on card.
DeeDee,
Should my (Alpine) ExtROM Version be completely blank?
Thanks
Paul
Hi Paul
Can't remember and my Alpine is at home, but i don't think so.

Thankyou DeeDee I appreciate you taking the trouble to answer silly questions by a noob.
I have downloaded and printed out a 140 page manual and there was nothing clear about connecting to wi-fi
If I have to carry this Hima around with me all day I might as well have it working as well as it can.I had intended to purchase a 3g Iphone for myself but now I'm not so sure I might buy a HTC instead if I can find one with 3.5" screen and wi-fi and a reasonable interface like touchflo
Nick
i have to say the smaller screen on my Trinity is perfectly adequate and that the larger form factor of the Alpine/Himalaya means you need a headset/handsfree kit to really use it as a phone.
It's also not pocketable, which my Trinity is, just.
If you can find a decent mobile shop and have a touchy feely sesion with as many as you can.
thanks DeeDee thats excellent advice. Photos never give a good indication of size and ease of use . The size is a bind like you say its heavy and too big for a shirt pocket but it is easier for me to work with using reading glasses.
I got an 02 XDA mini S when they first came out. I found the screen too small and fiddly and it stayed in the box unused for 18 months when I sold it on ebay for nothing so I have learnt my lesson.
DeeDee may I just ask one other question please. I have trawled through the wiki and various other sources but I still haven'y founf an answer to my initial question on the Himalaya board.
Q1 How do you install a new app on the Hima or Alpine ?
Q2. where does it get installed to ?
Today we lost the special survey App again Grrrrrrrrrrrv because the flippin battery went flat.
My boss is hopping mad and blames me !....I blame IT cos they installed it.
There must be somewhere we can install an App to that is non volatile and is not lost every time the battery goes flat.
Presumably the same place that WM2003 is installed ? How is it done ?
To install an app either:
1 - use Active Sync to install it if necessary
2 - if the install is a CAB file copy it to a memory card and then click it on the PPC to run the install.
As for the where it installs, when you run the installer it may ask where you wish to install, either Device/Storage Card. Make sure both batteries are charging. In all honesty it's not your fault that the end users aren't charging their Alpine on a regular basis.
