Hey folks, I got my Wing a couple of weeks ago and I love it. I had a treo before, and this makes me much happier. I had gotten into modding the UI a bit and playing around with the best combos of third-party software on my old treo, so I started playing with my Wing. Well, I've gotten probably mid-level with my technical modding competency thus far. I'm comfortable with most progs and mods I've found below actually flashing the ROM, and I'd think about that too, but I've gathered that most of the TF roms out have trouble on the Wing. So far, I'm overclocked to 260, tweaked some stuff in the registry, installed the HTC Touch UI minus the cube and all that, but I'm not quite happy. So, I have some questions:
On the HTC Home 5 tab skin:
1. Is there any way to put custom icons in the launcher area? Not just style-wise(though that would be good), but that link to things that aren't on the list? I'd really love to but a button that would take me to "settings" in there, like the one that takes you to "programs". I have a few other ideas too.
2. On the weather tab, I know there is a way to add cities to the "select city" list by getting the city code off of accuweather.com and changing the registry, but I can't figure out how to get the code for my city when I look it up on the site...I search it, and it comes up, but where is the code?
3. I put the HTC black theme on here, but I wondered, are there any others available? I know I've seen a blue one, and I think I've seen pictures of an HTC Touch that had a red theme....
Other Stuff:
1. I tried to up my page pool to 6mb like it says in the "all you need to know" thread, but the preparation app wont work....I install it, but nothing happens after that....I can't find it to open or anything else...Is installing it enough?
2. Is there any way to keep wm6 from putting the recently used programs on the start menu?
3. Is there any way to change the two links on the bottom bar that the soft keys are mapped to? Not change what the keys are mapped to, but like, change "Calendar" to "Settings" or "Contacts" to "Messaging", for example?
4. Is there anything out there that would let me navigate my phone with my finger? I know certain programs have this capability, like Opera Mobile's latest beta and PocketCM(which I use), but I'd like it on all windows that require scrolling....
Apps:
1. Anyone know the best app to use to stream radio and/or tv on my phone?
2. What's the best way to watch youtube? I wouldn't ask, but I've found like three or four different threads/articles on ways to do it, and I don't know which I should use. I prefer to use Opera as my browser, but I can use PIE now and then, if the process actually lets me watch it in my browser....
3. Can ya suggest any good games?
Well, thanks in advance for any help you can give. I've been trolling here for a while, so I know there are some very smart people here and I have faith. Sorry for asking so much, and forgive me if I should have broken this up a bit into different threads, but I'm trying to perfect my phone, and this was basically what was left on my list....Any other tips on how to achieve my goal of making a nice, clean, finger-friendly UI and putting the picking the best apps would be appreciated too.
Peace.
Ok, I figured out the HTC weather thing, and the today softkey thing, so I'm good there. Any help on the rest?
I can cover a few for you but any more's gonna cost ya....
flash your phone with either of the touch roms out right now and you will be able to finger scroll in nearly all applications.
try avotmv, or search using google for similar programs for streaming videos(avotMv includes youtube as well as google).
Many streams to tv stations can be opened with WMP directly which makes it alot easier to connect to them by saving them as PIE favourites. You just need to find 'em first, I would suggest doing that from your computer first.
I've recommended Flux Challenge before, ill do it again...apart from that I don't run too many games from my pocket pc. Seal Volleyball is kinda fun too.
Maybe some others can assist you with the rest
cheers
Hey i know people have gotten fpsece (wm playstation emulator if you didnt know) to work on the diamond and other wm.1 phones and i was wondering if anyones actually gotten it to run on the fuze ive been trying for like a week to get it to work and cant seem to find any help anywhere so if anyone could help me out or knows it wont work please tell me.
just copy your roms directly in the fpsece folder, not in the iso folder. where the exe is situated. worked for me but i say that the games are not that playable
ive tried that it still doesnt work
Victory!!!!!!!!! so stupid i should of tried this before i put it on the sd card thinking it would still work so i through fpsece on my phone memory and the games on the sd ant it works. awesome.

Not sure why, but I can run off the sd card no problem. Again not very playable with the roms i've tried.

same here. Anyone know why the site is down? I was hoping 1.0 would hit today since it will allow faster fps for games. Rumor is 1.0 is finally finished but there will be a pay to use version too..
its been down for 2 days now... i dont know how much longer i can keep hitting the refresh button
bios...
alot of people have problems with fpsce be cause they dont select a bios. if you go to ppcwarez.org-game releases- find fpsce 9.6-a couple of post down a guy posted a zip with like 8 different bios. just extract those into the bios folder. run the emulator goto choose bios. i always select the spch1001. it was recomended to work with almost any game. people haveing problems with fps need to mess with the settings. and frameskipi always set it on 2. hope this helps people. i gotta TP and i run it all off my sd card.
ya ive got it to run halfway decent if its really slow try at least throwing the emulator on your phones memory and theirs not much way getting around using the storage card for the games i got it to run on average around 30fps but im playing ff7 and when the battle starts and ends it drops to like 7 its not that bad when i set the frame skip to at least 3 but everytime i hit a wrong button it screw up so i started using the keyboard in landscape but i dont know how to turn the sound off or change the frame skip if anyone knows how please tell me.
oh and the sites back up
landscape
well you gotta map the buttons, and also i set the menue button to enter on the fuze keyboard. once you get into the menue it brings up the on screen keyboard that fills the screen. from there you can go into options to change frameskip and disable the audio, also exit the emulator or continue back to the game. 1.0 will be out soon and ill buy that ****! theres a bluetooth controller mgp 100or something like that just google bluetooth gamepad and you should find it. its cool cuz it cradles your phone and the buttons are laid out like playstation. all games on the 1.0 have a significant boost in fps. caint wait!!
thanks i figured it out after i posted that but when i open the menu sometimes it rotates the screen when im pressing another button and wont let me rotate it back and ya i wish 1.0 was out but i think theyve been saying it was coming out for a long time so i wouldnt get too excited about it.
You guys are getting 30 fps because of your cpu clock speeds wich is 528mhz default, if no2chem developes a overclocking utility wich i think hes about to do in the coming months, htc raphaels and other msm72xx cpu devices will gain huge fps increase, depending on what OC tables he can come up with, and also if a working gpu plugin that supports openGL ES is ever release that will give a even greater fps incrase overall , so if this two are release the msm7xxx devices will most likely be the best phones for fpsece.
And btw im going to buy a touch pro soon so il be join you guys pretty soon.
Regards
Rafyvitto
i just installed fpse 0.09.5 and when i try to load a rom the program close by itself and of course dont load the game any help?

That is most likely fake as no Alpha version of FPSEce was released today. Plus, you only have one post which reduces your credibility to nothing.

Hello all,
I recently started a course here at Purdue University on Mobile Software development (Windows Mobile).
I need some ideas for programs I should write. Please reply to this thread or PM me if you'd like.
I have experience with C#, VB, C++, and C, among other languages.
Thanks

how about a dedicated xda forum app?
How about a sports ticker. I'm still surprised there isn't one yet.
BTW, I think I saw a xda app when I was poking around the other night.
I'm trying to think of ideas but my minds drawing a blank...
Here's the XDApp
Gonna expose my nerdiness here, but you asked...
How about an app that accesses the D&D Insider online compendium of rules and data? Not sure what would be involved, but I'm betting that there's no API available, so it'll probably never happen.
OTOH, it would be nice to see a really high quality dice-rolling app that takes full advantage of the g-sensor and the hardware accelerated graphics...something that looks like dice inside a tumbler, you know? Maybe start with a really slick Yahtzee-style game, and build up to polyhedral dice for us game-geeks?
I'd be happy to provide you with some guidelines for building. I'm sure we could find you a suitably good graphics guy, too, if you're not up to that part (I could do that, in a pinch).
I want my phone to do this:
But until then, I would like to see an ap like Skype, but for mobile that will easily switch you from cellular network to VOIP.
I have two ideas:
#1 - I don't know if this is even possible, but an application that turns on WIFI and/or Bluetooth in a receive only mode briefly every few seconds and listens for user selected devices in range and then performs user selected actions.
The idea is that the it would use less power than leaving WIFI and/or Bluetooth on all the time, but when I get in range of my wifi router at home, it turn WIFI fully on and sync my phone. Or when I'm in range of the WiFi at work, it could turn my ringer to vibrate. Or when I get into the car, it detect my Bluetooth stero, connects to it, and opens the music player.
#2 - Probably simpler than #1, a program that turns WiFi and/or Bluetooth on automatically when the phone is plugged into a charger and then performs specific user defined actions, similar to idea #1.
I don't know if programs like this already exist, but I haven't found them.
Dylan
I like these ideas, please keep them coming. I am not sure what the requirements will be as far as our programming projects are concerned but from what I understand I have alot of freedom in project choices!
I am in another robotics programming class working with the iRobot Creates and I was thinking it would be really sweet to program something that could allow the 2 to interact in some way/shape/form!
I am also very excited about GPS technology I wouldn't mind programming something that would utilize the GPS or triangulation!
Thanks for the contributions all, please keep them coming!
~JFlitt
With all that programing skill you could create some pretty neat apps.
Ive always liked the windows desktop interface.
How about a windows xp-like launcher?
Complete with movable desktop icons, windows, etc.
I am aware that wisbar advance desktop allows you to do this, but alot of those skins are a hassle, and they are not very complete. Plus they dont exactly take advantage of any 3d graphic drivers..
But anyways back to the point, with a windows xp desktop like interface it would be easier to use the phone.
I would not have to stretch my thumb all the way to the top left of the phone.
Oh and you could possibly utilize the touch pros capacitive touch panel for controlling the mouse.
You could also get google android working with more functionality. I am aware that there is work being done on it, but someone with so much programing knowledge could really speed up the project.(Im android crazy)
Or, if all that is too much to complete in limited time, then how about an application that will allow multi touch using the touch panel?
And also, resistive touch screens are supposedly multi touch capable.
I hope i gave you enough ideas.
Good luck.

VOIP
Hi,
I have an idea and it is possible.
how about having an app on your phone to configure your SIP provider settings in it ( 5 different proxy ) and then when you want to dial a number, you can right click on it and chose " voip dial ".
Skype already gives you a the menu for skype calls when u right click on your contact .
if you can add a menu to TF3D settings->communication->VOIP and we can add 5 different proxy in it and we can activate more than one proxy at the same time in order to RECEIVE AND DIAL voip calls from our phone it would be awesome since microsoft is not allowing this kind of apps on marketplace .
Tnx
Thunder
a good "made for raphael" nes or snes emulator would be great since all the other ones out there are out dated and seem to work grat on old phones but are horribly laggy on the touch pro...wierd... the only good one ive found is a jap build of nester (nesterj4u) built for an hp phone or pda im not sure but the keyboard slides out to the right so landscape mode is upside down when i want to use the keyboard >_<
a good streaming media app thats a bit easyer to use than the one that comes with the phone would be great with some tv links on it like surfthechannel or tvdome would be great.
a youporn app to copliment the youtube app would be awsome
hmmm a good compass that simply points north (true or magnetic) with degrees would be awsome for when i drop mine on the roof trying to point my sat.
a simple freeware level would also be awsome since ive only found trialware levels so far
an hourglass would be a fun pointless app for when i get bored of pouring digital beer.
a goofy clip art picture editor could be fun just to mess with. maybe with some fish eye lens and carnival mirror opptions would be fun.
a free streaming radio app would be cool too....
sorry for the long list cant sleep ... figured the more ideas the better
ps. im not sure if any of these already exist havent checked lately so if anyone know if they do feal free to point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated
ok, I'm gonna try to have this make sense, but no guarantees. how about a simple titanium plugin framework? something that **doesn't** use mortscript? as mscript is good for certain things, it's not for others. this way there is an easier way for developers to make new plugins for it without having to use a slow scripting language. does that make any sense?
How about a talking GPS
I was out on my mountain bike today. I have a Garmin unit on the handle bars for navigation and listening to music from my Touch Pro in my pocket.
I was riding a fast downhill section through the some trees when I realized I was taking my eyes off the trail to make sure I was still on course.
I've used this http://www.basicgps.co.uk/ for Geocaching but it can only take you to one waypoint at a time. You can't use it to follow a route.
How about making an application which can steer you along a route using voice commands.
(Tomtom and others can only do this on roads, not off-road)
mixture of gps and accelerometer
well can u create an app the tells u ur speed while u are travelling like there is one app which does it in i phone it uses motion sensing and gps there are apis for both you can code it in c# with .net fw 3.5 and if u require help i am available i too know c# .
sound control
What about an app. that would control all of the sound feature such as the ear speaker, speaker phone speaker, and possibily microphone independitly, like bass, trebl, vol. That way a person could tailor the phone to sound the way they want it to sound when they are talking on it or whatever.
Just a thought.
Programing Ideas
A project that I have been toying with is a "Now" button for the calendar. Those of us in consulting need a simple and quick way to insert the current time in the Start Time and End Time field, which ever is selected. I've not been successful so far.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HARDWARE: AT&T HTC FUZE (Raphael)
Hard-SPL: AT&T
ROM: AT&T
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How about that app the iPhone has where you can transfer contacts by putting the phones next to each other and shaking it to transfer or sliding it across to the other phone.
All for now will think of more
*edit* Forget this its kind of pointless when we can send contacts via sms/IR beam
How about the ability to use our Fuze's as remote controls like you could with PDA's, open your garage door, turn on your 360 or TV, forgot to turn your laptop off, send it a signal to shut down from anywhere
There're some cool applications on Android. One application changes the ringtone based on GPS location. It sets ringtone to loud at home, lower the volume in office and automatically sets the phone to vibration when you are in a theater.
Another application is about setting alarm based on location. You can set an alarm about buying some stuff in a store, next time when you pass by the store, alarm goes off.
Hi all,
I have searched the forums, and tried a few apps and I haven't been able to find a solution to this - I was wondering if anyone else has or would want a way.
I like to listen to the radio to hear up to the minute local news, interesting local programming, some good new music and regular local humorous/comedy programs. And sometimes while listening to these I may get interrupted or may hear something I'd really like to share or refer to later - so in the past I'd just click the 'Record' switch on my MP3 player and then replay whatever I missed/saved later. Sometimes I also hear a good song and I'll record a few seconds to get enough of the lyrics to Google it later.
Knowing the X1 had an FM radio and WM6 I figured there must be an app out there to do this, the Samsung Omnia 2 apparently has this feature out of the box. I know some phones have the FM radio direct connected to the headphones/speakers, but I also know on the X1 has RDS and people have even found ways to use it as a TMC receiver on this forum. So I'm hoping there might be a way to record from FM - nothing fancy, not the full schedulers of the Chinese clone phones, but just some app that might at least let us hit a button and record a few minutes would be awesome.
Does anyone know how or if this can be done on the Xperia?
Thanks a lot,
Peter

Yes, I've checked many different programs and most that say they do record are actually Internet Radio stations and not FM. Actually when I clicked your link the first many results were already purple from when I searched it last week before posting.
One interesting thing I just came across is that Apple announced last week that their new iPod Nano will have 'Live Pause' functionality on it's FM tuner. That would be dream functionality for me, especially if it also included an actual recorder function to share the content later (which I doubt). But I really, really don't like Apple - and my X1 has let me leave my pocket digi cam, PDA, mp3 player and old phones at home and do it all with one device. It would be awesome if it could also record, even if rudimentarily.
99% of results you get with this search is either people who posted asking and were ignored, Internet Radio apps, info on clone phones or mp3 players or Call/Video recording software.
Thanks for your reply,
Peter
i used to have an ATOM exec that FM record function
go to their sub forum and see if you can get someone to make you a cab of their application. it might work
after this is done the next step would be is just to create a calander reminder to remind you to record

Thanks man, I'll do that . I'm ok with not having a scheduler attached, though it'd be nice. I'd really like to have the ability to hit a button and record though because sometimes there's some useful stuff on.
For example today they had a financial analyst on talking about GICs vs. Stocks vs. Bonds, etc..., and giving advice to someone on a situation almost identical to mine and he made some interesting points I wanted to remember to research further - luckily I was at home and had an old mp3 player that could record, but if I was out I'd just have to try to memorize it and probably end up just with confused recollections if I even remembered it at all. Missed a lot in the time it took to find the player though - just starting it from the Xperia - that would be awesome .
Thanks,
Peter

By the way, The Grizz, would it be the same application you were asking about in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493868&highlight=fm+recording or would it be something specific to the Atom Exec?
Thanks,
Peter
P.S. I see you were on the quest too man - good to know I'm not alone - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493761 - I did find the HTC/Diamond FM Radio App, which seems to work faster than the one with the X1 natively, but no recording, still looking around... Atom app seems to have scheduler, everything - would be awesome if we can just get this thing ported
I spent a couple of fruitless hours trying to find and fm_radio.cab or similar file for the Atom Exec - no luck, though a Chinese board seemed like it might have it, the page gives an error in Chinese when I tried to read it - either that the post doesn't exist anymore or you have to register or some such thing.
I found a couple of other FM apps that work, mostly for the HTC Touch HD and similar devices. I found about 3 others that don't work, giving various error messages about missing files or the Radio failing to power on.
I eventually searched for fmradio.exe and found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=284477
A lucky hit - "From O2 Xda Atom Exec..." - fmradio.exe + some dlls. I tried this on my X1 though and unfortunately I just get the message: "FM Radio requires Stereo Headset to be connected to function." I do have my headphones plugged in though. No idea if there is some way to get the app to bypass this check to see if the rest of it will run. It may also have something to do with where the dlls are - I just put all the files in my main Windows directory - no idea if they should be somewhere else, or if I should leave my original files as well. My X1 Radio is broken possibly from my previous 7 other apps tried - so this app might work if tried with a fresh flash.
So close
No luck, I flashed on WinMo 6.5 and then back to WinMo 6.1 with Jack's ROM - but I can't seem to get the O2 Xda Atom Exec FM Radio app to run. It just says that there is no headphone in the port. Is there a way around that or could I be missing some files? Or maybe I put them in the wrong path?
This is only one way to attack the problem - any other suggestions or ideas would be good as well.
Thanks,
Peter
A friend of mine lent me his Omnia, which can record with a click. I got all the files, but unfortunately it just gives an error that it is missing files or a trust certificate. I found the fmradio.dl file was hidden in the \Windows directory.
I found some other fmradio.dll files online for various Omnia models, but still no luck with those. It may be that they are not the right file for this program, or they are incompatible with the hardware. It's too bad I can't at least run the program, and then find the FM doesn't work. That would feel more satisfying then it not working at all.
So, so far no luck. Unless the creators of Power Radio here on the XDA forum do infact add FM Recording to their application...or we find another way?
Has anyone been able to find a way to do this on the X1? Or maybe perhaps the circuitry or software is different and it is possible on the newer X2 hardware?
Thanks!
I'm thinking, if it were possible, there would be an app for it. It's probably a hardware limitation of the X1 just like call recording. The output of the radio may not even pass through the CPU/chipset and goes straight to an output.
Resco Audio recorder records calls in X1
i can get the controller to connect, but none of the buttons or analogue sticks work. ive tried to manually set buttons and create keymaps but nothing is working , i just want to play modern combat 3 and GTA III ... and its driving me nuts , i cant even find a YOUTUBE video to guide me through it !!! plz help
if it counts ill hit the thanks button heaps lol
[EDIT] surely some one knows how they set up their SIXAXIS ps3 controller. i know it can work since on MC3 i push forward on my analogue stick and it sprints and if i move the analogue stick left the character ducks. I just cant work out the input mappings, all im asking is what people have used to get theirs working . im sure then its only a matter of getting the touch profile to line up.... plz plz plz help
Well i managed to get it working in the end, i'm posting this incase people in the future had the same problem as me as i was trying everything (i even reverted back to CM7.1 incase it was that), turns out i had a bad version of Sixaxis controller after speaking to the guys at dancing pixel. Once i had updated to the newer version 0.3.9 all i had to do was then create touch profiles and set the controller to a sixaxis controller (within the app). basically i would go into each game take a screen shot, go back to the sixaxis controller app load the screenshot and place the buttons correctly over the top.
And now its sweeeet lol
