Hi all,
I've just downloaded the latest ROM BIOS upgrade for my XDA2i (Xda_IIi_Upgrade_v111169) at the UK's O2 website which includes some Blueberry things I believe - but haven't checked yet. :?:
I think I may have found a small glitch if anyone can help. :?
The glitch is in Windows Media Player 10, as setup by a clean reinstall.
When I click on WMP10, it does not display a 'file open' option.
The 'file open' icon is 'greyed out' and only the icon which connects to Windows Media.com on the Internet works.
As usual I can double click on some media files (eg wmf, AVI) in File Explorer and have them open in WMP10 as expected, - but I wonder does anyone have a fix so I can make it work by opening files in WMP10 in the normal way?
Although I don't use WMP10 a lot, and prefer others, I would like to get it going because I believe it is cludgy or difficult to remove.
But I may be wrong....What do others think ?
Thanks
Open MP10
Goto (from Main Screen)
Menu/Library/Menu/Open File
Works for me
Whahey!!
Works great.
Thanks. Much appreciated!
Does it work when I use in different region (Asia)?
Hi all,
I'd like also to upgrade this rom v1.11.169 from O2 UK.
Does it work when I use in different region (Asia)?
Many thanks

HI Clickhari
I'm not an expert so my reply may not be accurate!
I rang up O2 and asked whether my XDA would work in Asian countries, and they said yes. (after ensuring my contract gave me access to international calls)
I asked whether it would still work with the upgrade, they said yes.
More than that I don't know. My approach would be backup everything, and then be able to install whichever works there.
If that's not what you meant, then maybe someone else can help.
wat is the improvement they provided inside this new ROM? i live in singapore, can somebody tell me is this can be use in asia?
Hi andriangunawan
 On the UK website http://www.my-xda.com/xda2i_soft.html

The latest XDA IIi System Software is available for you to download.
New and changed in this version of software, v1.11.169 are:
BlackBerry Connect v2.0
This software is for Xda IIi in UK and Ireland.
German customers should visit: www.o2xda.de
Asia customers should visit: www.SeeO2.com
for ROM upgrades for those countries.
I don't use Blackberry but I took some screen dumps of the Blackberry setting if it helps. They are attached.
More than that I can't really say.

Hi!
I have down load this ROM and update to my PPC. But the Radio was v1.00.00 instead of my old version is v1.00.3. Finally I back to old vertion.
The new 02 upgrade only seems to have the Blackberry upgrade? Does anyone know if it contains any further fixes and if it does how can I upgrade the Radio portion to1.03, like the previous cooked 02 ROM?
Thanks
Found one answer, not possible to update to v1.03 radio, doesn't seem to work with new 02 ROM, I wonder if that is why 02 did not update radio themselves?
it's been a couple of days since i bought this device, and i thought i should summarize some findings.
1) you cannot skip autorun process. if you soft reset during autorun, the device will start the setup process from the beginning.
2) if you turn off security in registry (HKLM/Security/Policies/Policies/1001), it will refused to connect to desktop pc. you need to leave the security setting non-0, if you need to sync with your pc all the time.
3) sspl does work although it gives you a black screen.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408621
4) softbank ap is hidden. you can make it visible, with the usual trick of ConnSBM and wifiwake.
5) internet sharing is removed out of rom as usual.
6) mms client is made by arcsoftware, and integrate to messaging. but this app doesn't seem to work without softbank certificate.
7) it seems like most of the oem apps are signed by softbank, and they don't run without the certificate.
8) good news is the japanese thumb input works without certificate so that it can be run on other wm6.1 vga machines.
This is a very important post -- thanks so much for being a Guinea Pig! I was going to get the Raphael (X05HT) when it comes out in early December, but may reconsider if it is not possible to even upgrade a rom. (the Diamond/Rapheal are very similar). However, before we come to that definite conclusion, can you describe the problem with sspl? What is the error? Are you trying to upgrade using windows xp or vista? As much information as possible would be helpful. I am sure somebody here will be able to solve this!
As far as it being locked goes, I was sort of expecting that (After the Hermes fiasco). My main irk though, is possibly not being able to upgrade even a rom....
One more thing: how is input using the keyboard? Does it do a good job?? (Especially in Japanese). That was one reason I was going to wait for the X05HT -- not to mention it having more memory to work with. Cheers!
Not 100% related, but I recommend the Emobile version of this phone. I still have a Softbank phone, which I now use exclusively with a white plan to talk to my wife, but I much prefer the Emobile packet-hodai plan to the gimped Softbank version. With my softbank phone, packet-hodai only covers sms/mms and Yahoo mobile browser, if I used the "PC site browser" I could get charged a lot more.
Anyways that thread if anyones looking for a Diamond that is easily ROM upgradeable in Japan (believe it's also coming out on DoCoMo): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=440684

there is no error. sspl starts, but it does not go to the bootloader screen (the tri-color screen), but remains blank. the backlight is still on, but the screen is totally black.

you mean, software keyboard? finally, it has japanese ezinput with japanese/english dictionary so you can type both japanese and english. the difficult thing with this thumb input is switching between words and numbers. the mode changes like alphabet(english only)-number-kana-katakata. so it is a little troublesome to switch english/japanese/number... better use qwer software keyboard to type passwords or email addresses.
it is kinda slow, and seems a little unstable. need to find a way to burn my own rom...
Did you read this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=440684&highlight=emobile
Emobile also carry the same phone. Especially, see post 3.
Hopefully are able to solve this and tell us how you did it. Good luck and keep us informed. I look forward to having the same problems with my new X05HT in a few weeks..... :-D
Edit: or try this to unlock it: http://www.mobilefixed.com/shop/pro...id/39?osCsid=06590ca850536441a4721bc41a6d2fd9
I read elsewhere in this forum that it works.
i should have read the threads more carefully. i could install hard spl! the black screen was ok.

So you solved it? No problems? Let us know how a new rom goes! For Japanese input go here for a one cab install of the latest IME. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2905264&postcount=1
As for your data connection installation (should give access to unlimited packet rate, too) go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441400
Do let us know how it goes with a new rom. Speed better? More stable? Amount of free memory better? etc. Cheers!

i created a test rom based on the official htc wwe rom, and successfully burnt it on my x04ht! the original x04ht rom gives you only 20+mb free ram, but this wwe rom gives you about 50mb free ram. also, touchflo responds much faster!
as for japanese input, i am thinking about copying ime+ezinput from the softbank rom which i backed up.
will report more when i am done with my own customized rom.
i could successfully rebuild x04ht rom from the dumped raw files!
summary can be found here.

Did you ever do this? If so, could you please provide a cab? I am also trying to do a similar thing for my X0ht. The IME in the new models is a lot better than the old x01ht one. There are also plently of others who would love a cab if you can do it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=445550&page=2&highlight=x05ht
Oh, and did you ever work out the settings for Arcsoft so we can use mms? It is exactly the same for the x05ht. (I really don't want to have to use mmslite after I flash it to English).
Best!

first, i thought i would use my x04ht with a wwe rom cooked with japanese functionality and apps from x04ht. however, i have changed (or had to change) my strategy since many oem applications in x04ht including arcsoft mms are security signed and cannot be ported easily, which means they do not run on other roms without softbank certificate.
it was a little time-consuming for me to figure out how certificate works, so i figured out how to port sys & xip from newer roms to x04ht instead. my x04ht is still japanese, but os is from a newer build with softbank certificate and "full wm6.1 functions."
having said that, i think it is possible to change the language of the rom quite easily once you can dump the rom and cook it yourself. the language is simply a matter of mui files and [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\MUI]. all 409 (english) muis are available from any shipped wwe roms, anyways.
as mentioned above, i have not figured out how to port oem apps without softbank certificate yet. also, i don't have dev environment to make a cab myself.
additionally, i found out the slowness of x04ht is due to default disk cache set 0. gps takes dozens of minutes to start working, which is almost useless. i tried to use it last night, but it was searching the satelites all the time. finally, gps started working when i finally got to the place i wanted to go to. i guess i need to replace the radio rom, but i have not figured out how to make a radio rom backup yet.
also there seems to be some memory leak, but i don't know whether it is the rom or htc apps... free ram of my x04ht is currently about 10 mb after one day. this is unbelievably bad.
hi to all xda friendly users,
I am newbie with cooking but pretty familiar with wm phone.
I have a brand new reseted xperia with r2aaaa10
All I need is to install remote tracker and some how import it to my rom so as after a hard reset rt and its configuration remain to our phone and be able to track it.
I pretty sure this has been discussed before but i cant seek it.
Is there any friendly tutorial - program to do our job?

ive searched, and searched and searched, but cant find an answer...
ive got a tilt using a custom rom, and i have an x-tra tilt currently runing the stock rom.
what i would like to know is if its possible to use the CV (Cingular Video) link on the custom rom or the media.net link to check account status and stuff
i can switch the sim card between the units and the CV and medianet work fine on the stock rom, but if i manually type in the url's into the flashed tilt, the links dont work.
i cant imagine im the only one that ever tried to do this, but im at a loss on how to make this work?
any ideas would be appreciated

That's because we have no idea what you're talking about.
Links? As in something you click on in Internet Explorer to get to another web page??
Or do you mean an application?

100+ reads and this is the first i get? well its a start...silly me, i thought ANYONE that has used the AT&T Tilt for more then 5 minutes would of seen the cingular video and media net links...
allow me to clarify...
htc/att winmo 6.1 rom found on the HTC site, version 3.57.502.2, released 08/21/08
Cingular Video:
from the start menu, click on programs, and then click on the cingular video icon. that opens up internet explorer and the link (URL) is http://cingularvideo.cingular.com/ from the HTC/ATT rom the link takes me so i can watch a variety of videos online
MediaNet Home:
from the start menu, click on programs, and then click on the media net home icon. this opens up internet explorer and the link (URL) listed is http://device.home/ from this page i can check weather, phone bill stats and usage of other phones on the family plan.
both of these work on the factory rom, but i havent found a single custom rom where i can type in these links into a browser and they work...

There is a good way to get continued help, whine about no one helping you and then be obnoxious to the first person that tries. I have had a Tilt for 2 years and had no idea what you were talking about. Mostly because ANYONE who has used the AT$T Tilt got rid of all the AT$T " crapware " after about 4 minutes.
The fact that you cannot open it using other roms and the fact that you cannot open it on your PC should tell you that they are proprietary links that are interdependent on other bloatware installed with your AT$T rom.
Unfortunately if you want your bloatware, you will probably have to use a crappy AT$T rom.
yeah sounds like device.home would be something that is installed on the actual phone, so reload the att rom and start digging.
Thank you come again.

Cingular video and Media.net are provided by AT&T are propriatary to AT&T and only work from an AT&T stock rom, and since they both suck; none of the cooks here are going to put it thier roms. The only way to get them is to use the stock rom.
Insted of Media.net use internet explorer and insted of CV use Youtube or Hulu. They work a lot better
Hulu works on the Tilt?
Hulu works by way of skyfire. youtube works via lots of ways now, but I prefer kinoma play - buy it, it's worth it.
As to your original post, I know what you mean. I liked cv video too. I read something about being thru a proxy or whatnot and you had to edit some settings. But the other posters are right, it is att and not really worth the hassle of cooking it or making a cab for it.
Also go get Opera as your browser (if you haven't already) - load a testing version and work with the display options to get just what you want.
These will make your tilt much more usable.
How can I change my HTC Touch pro 2 phone from it's designated orange UK network to the Aussie 3 Network so that I can access my3 and 3 planet apps.
The phone does work ok with the Aussie 3 sim card.
Will I need to update the Rom or upgrade the firmware ?
If yes where can I find the downloads to do this ?
I'm a bit of a novice so if you can keep the info in simple terms please

That wouldnt be necessery as the handset is already unlocked.
Firstly i would install Hard SPL
Secondly i would start looking for either a standard HTC ROM or Custom ROM to remove the Orange branding, this should make things easier. With 3 AUS not selling the TP2 getting into my 3 may be awquard and i cannot help you there.

AFAIK you can access it via the browser, i know that my Orange UK stuff is accessible via the browser so i dont see why it should be an issue on 3, especially when in the UK a lot of GSM handsets are connected on 3 and can access everything.

Nope that aint true, all I did was call 3 and customer service will put you through to the internet tech support people. I told them I have a TP2, and they sent me all the settings by sms so I can use my 2 gig data plan, surf the my3 website, send and receive mms. If this doesnt work for whatever reason, pm me and I'll try get the settings for you.
As a side note, 3's data plans dont include free use of skype and msn messenger for the TP2 because the phone wont support it :S

How does the phone not support it? Palringo is a mutli-protocol IM client I use with the TP2. I also used it with my old Hermes. It does MSN, AIM, ICQ, and a ton of others. Also, there is a Skype application for Windows Mobile that is made by Skype, Inc. You can download it via their website at www.skype.com. And Palringo at www.palringo.com.
Many of these providers have 'custom' apps that they imbed into their shipped ROMS. As there is no shipped ROM from 3 AUS for the TP2, you might be pushing **** up hill. Of course they will support the device as a handset as it runs all the right frequencies etc. There's probably a proxy involved as well - that's how Telstra do it anyway for their apps like Foxtel.

That is true of what seems to be all providers with regards to the custom embedded apps, but to say that it isn't compatible with a program, is going a bit far. As for the proxy, AT&T here in the US uses one too, if I remember correctly.

What I meant was, on my 2 gig data plan, if I was to use a nokia phone for example, the data used for communicating with msn messenger and skype is not taken from the 2 gigs because there is unlimited free use of it since 3 have their own software which the user must download off their websites. There isnt such software available for windows mobile from 3, so data use for skype and msn on a win mob phone would take away from the 2 gig plan.
This is rediculous! It should be included, how hard is it for them to make a win mob version for their customers, the operating systems shouldn't affect compatability.

sorry, I wasn't saying the handset isn't compatible, but rather that it might be difficult to get what is required from the network provider, esp if it is an app.
hopefully carpkernel will be able to get to what he needs through a browser, thus removing the need for any custom telco provided app.

Ah yeah. T-Mobile in the US has a similar thing. The IM app they use, uses your text messaging as opposed to data. Thank goodness here we have unlimited data, so no need to worry about limits.

"Reasonable price" are two words that cannot be used in a sentence to describe Aussie carries for data plans. We dont even have unlimited internet plans for HOME cable and adsl 2, without the provider capping our speeds after reaching 60 gigs on most plans... how backwards are we.

The free minutes that 3 (Aus) provide are only available if you use their custom skype client which uses a dialup-gateway for access to skype network.
EDIT: I did post a whole lot of info about using iSkoot to connect to 3skype but it seems that 3 have now thwarted that so it is hopeless. You can (apparently) still use one of the java clients intended for other phones but I cannot confirm this (the old LG Shine jad I have doesn't run on my JBlend java and even if it did it would suck without any touch support or D-pad)
Thanks for your help everyone all sorted...Found the info on the Aussie 3 website. Not exactly the easiest info to find on their site but its just a simple case of putting in your mobile number on the 3 site and they supply a code. They send you a message and you type in the code and the settings are changed Automatically. Planet 3 settings are also sent to the phone so that I can use my pre paid plan. For anyone who has had the same problem cut and paste the link http://www.three.com.au/care and follow the instructions. Thanks again much appreciated.
glad it worked out for you
Thanks for posting that info, am on the 3 network too and this worked for me.
Just received my Touch Pro 2 today from an Australian online store, but I note phone has a Singapore 240V adapter and am downloading the WM 6.5 upgrade from the Singapore section of HTC after punching in the SN. Won't let me download the WM 6.5 upgrade from the Aussie Download area.
I must admit with this non aussie ROM the reception is better than my old touch pro. Carpkernel do you have access to the aussie WM 6.5 upgrade via your SN on the HTC website?
