Rather new to this..I've searched around but I do not see anything that tells me the very simple steps i'm sure on how to flash your radio. I want to place the 1.71.09.01 Radio on my AT&T Tilt "T-mobile's Network" running 3.57.00.00 Stock ROM. What are the necessary steps for me to accomplish this rather simple goal. I see people on here flashing radios faster than they are pissing. Thanks ahead of time and please don't yell at me or band me or tell me to look because i've tried.
This is all covered in this thread.

Hey Dave that thread is 50 Pages deep my good man
Which page gives you step by step instructions on how to flash your radio? I already know that the Radio Version that I picked works with the ROM Version I have...I found that on that thread an hour ago..I just need the step by step instructions on how to change it.

Step by step? Here... well....
No no no dude, read the Wiki.
Come on Kriss..don't be like that dude
Do you have a link for that specific wiki page? I'm still searching that one link by the way Dave..each page..to see if I can see specific steps on how to do this. See I know both of you guys know how to do this with your eyes closed...could you just tell me please...oh and i'm not being a butt about this like i've seen a few guys up on here do.....I have thick skin..but please don't take me down a road where you'll purposely brick my phone because I asked how to do this.....now then and only then will my skin start to slide off at that point! LOL!!!!
Also keep in mind i'm a newbee!
I don't know what SPL means or stands for.....I don't know what it means when you put the words "HARD", "SOFT" or "JUMP" in front of it either. Whats the difference and what are they used for?
In that post there is some snippet's of what you need to do
1. Install Hard SPL (Read the ROM Development Stickies for how to do this)
2. Download Radio
3. Run KaiserCustomRUU on your PC to flash the Radio (or follow the SD Card method in the thread I posted).
EDIT:
There is an SPL Questions on the Wiki that explains all about SPL's

Dave
About flashing:

Its about SPLS:

It is really easy to find.... you must just WANT to do it.
Hey I just found that WIKI Thread
right before I checked back to see if you responded...thanks alot..I'm checking out the other one right now.
Hey Kris I know how to put a ROM on my phone
All I have to do is click on the .exe file. Now cooked ROMS thats where it gets interesting. However I'm more interested in the RADIO's. I don't want to change my ROM..I only want to change the RADIO.

The process is the same.
The only difference is what you download to flash.

Hey man I know exactly what you mean....Take a look at this thread and post #10. Gives you step by step instructions on flashing a ROM/SPL/Radio. Without it I would still be on the stock ROM as trying to piece together 500 pages of "Wiki" is not very helpful at all. My personal appreciation to mbarvian who took the time to put it down.
Anyway hope it helps you as much as me.
Now see VolleyKing you are the shizznick!!!
Thank you very much...thats all and everything I had asked for. I needed it explained to me in "your stupid terms" I got it...and I just flashed my 1st Radio Version 1.71.09.01. Testing it out now.
Congrats Baby Face...without the step by step instructions I would have been to chicken to try flahing a new ROM....which I am enjoying immensely I must say!!
Thanks goes to Mbarvian who put it down without being critical of the person who asked for it.....you my hero!!
I honestly dont know how in the hell people have such a hard time finding the information on this wiki. I mean for gods sake, did you EVER look at the VERY first page of the kaiser WIKI?????
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser
In this 1 very first MAIN page of the KAISER WIKI, the links for detailed explanations with all of the answers 90% of the time 1 link deep is right there. See? Look. There is a section called ROM UPGRADING.
Here is a quote from that page
"
1.
Don't know what a ROM is?
* Watch this first, and read the ROM Flashing FAQ.
2.
Don't know what a SPL is?
* After reading the basics if you are still confused about SPLs, or which SPL you want, read SPL Questions?.
3.
Upgrading your ROM can void your warranty. Worried?
* Browse through how to revert back ROM and SPL for warranty return before you start.
4.
Think you're ready?
* Read some things to know before and after you flash.
5.
Ready now?
* Start here with the Introduction to ROM Flashing to find out!
6.
Still confused?

Worried about too much flashing will brick your phone?
* Read about the effects of ROM flashing
"
See?? All of the major information is right there ! Dont look to the forums for answers ....... try starting at page 1 and seeing all of the wonderful information there
I think at least part of the trouble people have with the wiki is a 'comfort zone' with the language.... as a total novice you can read 10 threads explaining how to flash... but only need to read one thread saying that someone bricked their phone to throw you back to 'compleatly unsure of what i thought i had learnt...'. this is frustrating for senior members and techno boffins because they are soo comfortable with the language that they don't see it as different to their every day language... so to them the wiki looks 'and IS' a step by step process....
for the novices there is only one solution to this problem... as everyone keeps screaming... READ READ READ ... then ask some stupid questions.... hide you head in shame... READ READ READ... and it will slowly take shape and make sense... The information is ALL there... the xda team and the community have done an incredible job here and as a novice you may not realise how much time and effort (off their own back) has been put in to get all the information, roms, patches, fixes and just plain information and make it availiable. it really is not as hard as it initially appears because of the wiki and it info... and if after all that reading it all... you still can't bring yourself to take that step... well....... maybe you should just leave it alone
for me... i have been reading these forums for only a year now and can see i have only just begun my education
I am a total novice but may be able to help with any one who's just starting out.. pm me and if a can help i will be happy to.

Ultimate radio thread my friend
Excellent points in regarding newbie's, it is a bit over whelming when you start the first step up the ladder, the language does takes quite a bit of time to get a handle on...
simpler terms do help greatly...
Hmmm....

I let one redundant thread pass, then trying to be nice, I let the second redundant thread pass. Now, you've created a third. Enough is enough.
Now, I have merged the 3, yes I can't even believe it, redundant threads in to one. This makes it much easier to CLOSE THEM.
Consider this your official warning. Do not create a thread, then when you don't get an answer, create another thread.
Have you ever considered that if you posted in the CORRECT thread, that you might get the answer you're so incorrectly looking for?

kais 130 please help
hi i know you are fed up with me but pls be patience with us new bees and my problem is am unlocking kais 130 and am on step 2 number( 8) when i run kaiser-simlocker.exe on my pc the dos software comes and disapear i ve try on a different pc but still the same problem plsssssssssssssssssss i need your help to solve this problem thx in advance
are you referring to use instructions:
(originally by jockyw2001)
8a. right-click activeync icon and uncheck "Allow USB connections" from Connection Settings
8b. On your PC go into the "step2" directory and run "kaiser-simunlocker.exe". If all went well you will see the unlockcode on your monitor and your Kaiser is being restarted automatically.
8c. right-click activeync icon and check "Allow USB connections" from Connection Settings
i got them from this post and assume you are using this unlocker:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=361039
now i don't understand how you can not complete the process IF you followed the instructions properly, maybe elaborate a bit on how you started. and secondly to point you in a easier direction: who is your carrier? i ask because most carriers will easily provide you with the sim unlock code for your device.
I have att and they gave me mine after 2 days of starting service (not that i needed it ).
p.s. did you remember this step: Make sure you installed HardSPL as follows
kais130plselp
10. Download the original radio from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349375 to the "step3" directory on
your PC and flash it with KaiserCustomRUU.exe i ve downloaded the original radio version to step 3 folder and now i dont know which one to flash it with, should i flash only the kaiserRadio only or the kaiserCustormRUU which is in the directory already anyway thx for the quick reply

you can't flash radio without kasiercustomruu that is the program that starts the process. Your radio file will end in .nb and you paste that into the step 3 directory so now you have the kaisercustomruu and the radio nbh. Sync device to pc and click on the kasiercustomruu and follow the prompts.

Hey I just got my TyTN II yesterday and I am completely unhappy with speed and functionality of the standard OS (or ROM??)
I saw ThrottleLauncher and by the looks of it it is amazing, now I went to their website and saw the small tutorial.
Instalation
* Uncompress the zip file and copy both cabs to the device and execute them from the device in this order
1. ThrottleLauncher-0.9.3.CAB
2. TL_TouchFLO3D.CAB
* Instalation to device storage is strongly recomende

This is the installation instructions but after I downloaded this
ThrottleLauncher_0.9.3.zip (1.751 KB. Contains 2 CAB files. Install both, see instructions below)
Click to collapse
I unzipped the ThrottleLauncher_0.9.3.zip file and within were 2 more zipped files, not two .cab files as the tutorial says..
I assume I just unzip these two folders and then copy the whole folders over to my phone..?
One other question, are there any backup/safety precautions I should do before installing ThrottleLauncher?
The reason I make this thread is because I'm unaware of what ThrottleLauncher really is, is it a ROM?? an SPL??
TL is pure software, you won't flash/overwrite anything that can't be undone.
If you're unhappy with TL and can't remove it, just do a hard-reset!
Stefan
Hey thanks for the reply, but its still quite unclear to me how to begin using TL.
Do I need to CID-Unlock my phone?
Is this a HardSPL or SoftSPL?? (Not even really sure the difference between the two..)
Can I make TL run automatically rather than having to open the application through WM6.1?
An SPL is a bootloader, so no, it's not.
About the usage:
I found it too slow and not useful so I removed it after a few minutes (had it cooked into a ROM, so I don't know about the installation process).

hey firstly welcome to xda! may u enjoy your time here. TL is purely software so no spl or cid unloks are needed this is only to flash a new rom. (i highly recommend L26 v10 with throttle launch btw). its ace and hs TL built in and running ace. but if you dont want to go that route fair enough i nearly had a fit when i first did it to my new baby. sounds like you got most of it instaled it shud now be a program u run from programs or if u you go into settings then today then on the other tab at the botom (cant remember the name) you shud be able to tick TL and have it boot on your today screen. but as the other guys sed sorry dude forgt your name. it will be incredibly slow i had that problem aswell. And in my opinion you would be better flashing to a new rom. ( follow wiki word for word) i hold no responsiblity to what ever happens to you phone tho. i will investigate the zip file you got and see what i can turn up about the zip files.

laurentius26 KDV10 (throttle launcher) has throttle launcher built in with an ace diamond theme this is what i am using at the moment. because its embedded and has had tweaks so it runs alot faster than just instaling it on to a stock or flashed rom. if you are coniderng flashing you have to remeber that a. it can all be un one for warrenty reasons just make anote of radio and rom numbers. and b. it can be dangerouse and brick your phone. just make sure you follow the wiki way to the letter!! i did and flash nearly every 2 days but am loving the rom i hve at the moment. if u need any more help fel fre to pm me. i didnt mean to scare you with the bold text i dont know how that happend i didn do it. but as befor im not responsible for wat happens to your phone. but at xda your in safe hands and as said befor follow the instructions by the letter dont skip anything and you will have a very happy afternoon.
dont forget to let us know how it goes
Hey alright I flashed L26 onto my TyTN and the skin are working and it seems to be functioning and responding a lot quicker.. One thing I don't understand is that I have to open ThrottleLauncher to be able to use touch flow and the features from throttle launcher??
here are some screenshots to show what I mean.
This screenie is of my today screen with ThrottleLauncher running as an application, how do I make it run as the basic today screen so I can use task manager while in ThrottleLauncher??

Can someone please send me a link to the correct rooting instructions for my phone.. i have seen threads and posts all over claiming how to root your rogers dream but everyone one so far has had some people ending up with bricked phones.
also id like to flash to xROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=543621 ) after rooting if this is possible afterwards, unless someone can suggest a better ROM to run. thank you for any help..

try this to get the 1.33.2005 spl on your phone, then follow the guide he links you to after that.
"Try" ??? lol please excuse my skeptisism and hesitation, like i said ive already bricked one phone and not looking to shell out a few hundred dollars again for replacement #3..
can anyone verify this works FOR SURE and/or if it doesnt work, will my phone be bricked after a possible failure trying to do so?

"try" = look at this thread. if you are afraid to do it then simply don't, there is always a risk you can brick your phone, that is why everyone has a disclaimer.
i have helped someone root a rogers phone using this method, but that doesn't mean it is 100% going to work.
ok.. but will a failure while updateding the spl result in a bricked phone or will i be able to revert back to original settings?
thx u so far.. im reading VERY CAREFULLY.. lmao, ya im kinda scared..

its never a good thing when the spl fails during installation but haykuro said in the thread that is linked in the link i gave you earlier that the 1.33.2005 spl was safe for all rogers devices.
if the spl gets messed i would imagine it would result in a brick, so you will want to read up the process a good bit before you try it.
ok thank you.. 1 last question. suppose i want to keep my phone as stock as possible just want it to be rooted, what rom would i install. His instructions (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544654) say
IMPORTANT: make sure you have the rom you'd like to install in the root of your sd card as update.zip (YOU WILL NOT HAVE A ROM INSTALLED AFTER YOU COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING STEPS, YOU WILL HAVE TO USE THE UPDATE.ZIP TO GET ONE)

does that mean i HAVE to flash one of the roms floating around here...
baby steps for me, would just like root first and a working phone b4 i start experimenting with ROMs
thank you again..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=538456
enomther's rom are very basic but still have root access. cyanogen's stable is very stable and fast. but if you want as close to a stock rom as possible then i would go for enomther's roms.
yes flashing the 1.33.2005 will most likely wipe your phone and you will need to flash a custom rom to keep root access.
oh ok....
well that shed's a whole new light on risk-to-benefit ratio. i thought i could have a stock rom with EVERYTHING guarenteed to work that came on the phone while enjoying benefits of root access. after reading prob's with 3G etc etc etc.. im gonna sleep on it b4 i jump into rooting/flashing.
although cyanogen's stable does look promising, i think running into issue's and finding things that dont work would drive me crazy. lol
thank you very much david, really appreciate your help/advice. Your the kind of member that everyone hopes to hear from.

So please tell me whats the best to do and give me some guide to flash.

Lol, that's nice, you have the phone for a day and you already want to flash it. Welcome btw!
First of all, get the 3 button download mode working on your phone, and if it's working you can think about flashing. You'll also need Odin for the 1st time(it's a handy software to flash your phone).
It's quite a hard to tell everything, so all I can recommend it to search through the sticky posts in the development section(and generally everywhere). After that you'll have a rough idea what to put on the phone and how.
Hi and welcome ,
If you don't want to brick your phone, first of all and mother of all custom flasher is to read all sticky topics here (twice or more if possible, in particularly the 3 Combo one): http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=657 .
Remember it's better to ask before a flash than being sorry.
Enjoy your flashing.
Thanks for the replys,
Yes I want to flash it the first day because i had a htc hd2 before this one and I had android on it (flashed) and I liked it very much.
I have an 3 button boot and I come in an boot menu whichs looks like cwm but with less options, ill check out odin. Any rom or kernels you guess suggest?

Doc rom kitchen will help to choose the best of them the easy way:
http://romkitchen.org/m/index.html
The combo JS7/Speedmod is a good option to start.
Howto:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817703
Agree Rom Kitchin least problems but do read all the FAQS on the pages to decide what to put in your rom .

I tried to use odin and I got this:

What to do? Do I need a kind of driver?
If someone wants to help me flashing my sgs through msn send a private message please
Odin don't detect the phone, simple, and yes it's a driver issue.
No offense, but sorry i'll not help you further more until you read the basic (your issue is a part of the basic btw). Careful you'll end with a brick phone!!! (don't want to be responsible of that)
At least give me a link to the ''basic''

Oh really??? come on!! take your time and read carefuly, with rush you'll end with a bad bad surprise. But well it's up to you.
In the same page you spot and read right now i can quote this:
Prerequisites: The android SDK, which you can download from here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html and the USB drivers for your phone, which you can get by either installing Kies or by downloading and installing these drivers: http://www.mediafire.com/?a6ni32dk6nn953b (password is 'ragin' -- I didn't test them, so feedback on these is welcome).

hi
i took a backup from recovery mode.
and then tried to restore it from the rooted CWM throught gingerbread 2.3.3 by chain fire.
now while restoring it stuck on the first samsung screen. that just displays galaxy tab logo (black and white one)
its not going to recovery mode now and keeps on jumping back to the first screen when i press power and volume up key.
i m hoping to flash it again to 2.3.3 as its still allowing me to go to the download mode.
will that help ? please let me know any alternative.
your help is highly appreciated.

1st of all , this is not the right place to post your question ... u should post it on Q/A Section
2nd , yes u can go back to download mode . why u didn't try before u post ?
am sure if u try it , u shouldn't post this thread from the 1st
go back to download mode and flash gingerbread back
Cheers
Yeah, go into Download Mode and flash this ROM http://www.multiupload.com/F6D7U1RUHD via ODIN or Heimdall. let it boot one time. After that you can install any ROM you want. If you need help, try the Overcome Guide, it shows you step by step what you have to do.

many many thanks for noticing my humble thread. i apologise for not asking in the relevant section. the only reason was that i thought since its part of the flashing customised gingerbread rom thats why i thought of putting in this section.
so first time i flashed the gingerbread via odin as put by chainfire in his post. is there any other way i can flash it. pardon me for asking noob question i just moved to android community from symbian.
thanks and regards

And if everybody thought like that, this section would be completley useless as all we woudl be able to see while browsing is topics about, "how do I do this?" "How do I do that?" , "HELP please" , "ive bricked my tab, help!" etc etc etc, This section is for devs to post dev projects and reference, nothing more.

a) I have no desire to be a forum mod although if I could I would happily move them. I own and run my own non-mobile related forums and other sites. I'm simply pointing out what SHOULD be obvious to anybody who uses this forum.
b) The thing they should be "remembering" for next time is use the Q&A forum not the dev forum.
Hopefully all this will be solved once the Developer usergroup is created and then they can restrict the creation of topics i here to that group only. That will solve all the dilution of the section.
To all of the senior members contributing to my thread:
First of all thanks to you guys, specially Maxis for providing me the info and i am back to my running galaxy tab .
Secondly i apologised for any inconvenience once again. i merely thought that all the gurus like you guys are attending the development section more than a question answere area, and that since i upgraded throgh that section i should get my query answered more quickly.
i did raise a question few weeks back in Q.A forum. I respect the forums policy and trust me i am a gentleman techie.
But in my point of view if so many rules and regulations are applied then the actual purpose of acquiring information would be more difficult and less effective. but yes i think it has to be related to what the information is required in what manner.
starting this thread may have got me few senior member's notice me and may be you guys will allow me to messge you personally just incase i m to brick my galaxy tab again, cuz i think i will .
thanks again , and for your patience in bearing with me if i can be of any help just let me know any time
cheers
