Howdy all!
Just found the forum via a Google search and was wondering if anyone can help - MANY apologies if this problem has been posted elsewhere (im a newbie here so please be gentle!), but ive just had a look but couldnt find anything......so here goes...
I've just got myself a XDA 2i today and having active sync'ed Tom Tom 5.1 to it i've come across a "program may not run correctly as its set up for older software" message. After running TT anyway it does indeed start, but cant seem to connect my wireless GPS receiver to it, and im just worried (having read elsewhere here) it could well freeze up in use if i perserve with it. Anyone have any advice?? Please??
I have a XDA 2 and my Tom Tom 5 runs perfect on it.........but am now left considering selling this new 2i on eBay (instead of the other one i'd intended) as i just want something that works. Can anyone help? Im just looking for some simple advice..........id REALLY appreciate it
Thanks in anticipation ............
Ant
Ps, I guess my main issue is just advice whether i should perservere with the XDA 2i (i just want Tom Tom to work!) - or sell and just stick with the XDA 2 that 'seems' to be less problematic. Im soooo desperate.........help!
Upgrade to 5.21
I'm not familiar with the Alpine but one thing that you should be doing for sure is to install the upgrade to 5.21.
Hope this helps!
Connect Tom tom Wireless Bluetooth GPS
Hello
I had TomTom installed in my Qtek 2020, and it worked.
I had a problem at first. I wasn´t able to connect with my wireless Bluetooth Gps, but then i set up the connection by setting it as "other NMEA cable GPS", strange, but it worked. I never could connect it as a "Generic Bluetooth Gps". I have a Pretec Gps Mini
I hope it works
Have you made sure "Receive all incoming beams" is NOT ticked in the settings - connections - Beam - menu? that is the normal culprit that we all forget!!!
Thanks SO much for the help guys....the 'incoming beams' thing did the trick......and it now recognizes TT5. THANKYOU!! Here's hoping it doesnt freeze up on me....! :?
With regards to the updated XDA2i not being compatiable with 'the older software im trying to run' would anyone recommend getting rid of it and sticking with the XDA2? The 2i is certainly the business with wi-fi, etc....but having uploaded a Commodore 64 emulator from Clickgamer (and having the same message pop up) i just dont know if im going to run into any other issues with this newer version of Windows its running. Any help would be really appreciated....thanks again
I would not worry about that pop up, it does it with loads of programmes, my 2i is very stable with tt5.2, even when using the phone via a BT headset and I have other programmes running in the background - the choice is SD card is more critical - Transcend 80x's seem to be the most stable.
Excellent...thanks for the advice!
Btw, just noticed the 'radio' thing in your signature......is it part of a download for the xda? Any other websites you'd recommend? My 2i is brand new out of the box and needing some cool gadgets put onto it! 8)
Thanks (again!) for all the help
Theres some good stuff on this site pdagold
It is freeware as well.
As for the Radio, I, along with many others have upgraded to Pugs rom, this seems to be the most stable one around, you can get it from the FTP part of this site, then just follow the instructions to reflash your rom.
a MASSIVE thanks for this.........sorry to be such a newbie, the advice here has been fantastic. Thanks alot!! :!:
i recommend pugz rom
i was using the o2 rom with tomtom 5.1 and and i kept loosing connection also had bluetooth issues, once installing the cooked rom, i've not experienced any problems
damned tt5.21
the problem is that I'm trying, at least, to let the O2 2i working with tomtom5.21 and fortuna clip-on gps receiver...
I read a lot of posts, so my beam settings are ok...
seems that tt5.21 don't want to communicate with the gps.
In fact the gps fixes (red light), but tt5.21 don't want to see it. It continue to say "no gps receiver", "signal lost from..." or, in the configuration, "Gps signal not good (or something else, I'm translating from italian)", and the small circle on the left up corner rolls, rolls, rolls...
so has any ideas? I'm not sleeping since 4 dayz....
tnx for all
pugz rom?
and where can I dl it? can so plz post me a link? tnx
*ant if you have problems with tomtom locking up swap sd card for a mmc card I was having problems with mine have had no lock ups since I changed to mmc

I had plus services working great for my trip from Texas to Virginia up until I hit Alabama. Now I get the error stating the services are "not available in your region (yet)." I have tried everything I could think of or find. I tried reinstalling 6 in which the plus services worked fine. I reinstall 7 and get the error above.
Anyone else experiencing this? Is there a fix for it? Or is this a way TomTom is regulating tt7?
I live in the US and have legal maps.
Thanks!
Alan
i live in georgia, and have a similar situation. i used to have traffic working with tt6, and after upgrading to tt7, it is giving the message above. seems it is happenning to a lot of people.
suggestions welcome
anybody on this?
It could be because we released TT7 in the U.S. before TomTom did. I remember it was not even available on their website until a couple of weeks ago. I think we rushed their plans.

It is.....
edit: actually, I have no idea. I do not use tomtom home because it messed up my gps using tt6. Check TTH.
I've got the same problem and I'm in Texas. I've had it tell me that and error occurred when connecting, and it won't even accept my user name and password. Haven't been able to figure it out at all.
I've got the same error now as well. When i first changed to TTN7 from 6, it worked and would tell me the traffic only had a like 2 week or 1 month trial or smth, but now it gives me that error all the time, i've tried reinstalling TTN7, redoing the map and none of that changes it.
I see they now have TTN7 listed for PDA's, so hopefully when its on the site for WM, this will be resolved.
Uh. So when traveling back from Virginia to Texas, plus services started working again once I hit west of Birmingham, AL. I don't know if it is coincidence or not.
Are others still having this issue? How about people in the south east US (Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Georgia, North/South Carolina, Virginia, etc)?
Alan
Well, now it is not working! It has worked fine in TX up until this morning. It all of sudden started giving me the same message.
Anyway else? Anyone have a solution?
How does tomtom determine your region? Device setting, network, gps, tomtom setting?
Alan
Add me to the list
My TT Traffic worked fine through last Friday. Yesterday morning, it stopped working and gave me the error message that we are all seeing. I'm in the Dallas area and am running the stock AT&T rom. I posed this question to TomTom UK to see if they could solve it. Hope there's a fix soon.
--Queso
still a no-go in athens, ga
It's as if TomTom configured their plus services servers to deny access for US users. I called TomTom US support, but they counldn't figure out what was going on. The guy I chatted with thought that the problem might be in Nav7. He suggested I email the UK support folks as they have the ability to look into the Nav7 stuff and he didn't. I'll let everyone know if / when I get a response.
Queso
After a some run around I am back where I began. TT US said to call UK because it's supported there. TT UK says that they don't support it, Germany does. When I called them, none of the options were in english, so am at an impass. I re-installed TT6 and low and behold, the traffic works. So either there is a timeout in the ripped TT7 or TT is blocking TT7 from its Plus Services servers. Bummer either way.
-Queso
Bummer,
Yea TT6 def works. TT7 must communicate with separate servers.
Is there a way to install both TTN 6 and 7 without one overwriting the other and/or forcing the other to be uninstalled? That way I can use a local city map for traffic in 6 (for my commute to work back and forth) and the entire 7 maps for my more extensive travels.

I have both installed and they work fine. There are two caveats though, on reinstall of TT7 I used the original release that installs to "internal storage." Also, the install stomps on the existing shortcut for TT6, so you would have to manually recreate the shortcut to get TT6 to run from the program shortcuts
Anyone have the time or skills to see if TT7 can be made to point to the TT6 plus servers?
Queso.
trial or paid subscription?
Just curious, is everyone that is having problems using a trial or have paid to subscribe to the traffic service. I have a trial of the traffic and have run into the same problems and now all TT Plus services indicate not available in my region (yet).

As do I. My work around is that I use Nav6 for traffic to / from work and Nav7 for everything else
.

installing both TT6 and TT7
TT7 seem to keep uninstalling TT6 - did you install TT6 to SD?

Hi,
I've installed TT7 onto a Diamond (From the cab here), bought the West Europe Maps and plus services, including traffic and speed cameras.
TT works great, as do the cameras, but traffic doesn't work at all. I get an error code 1506 and told that the services can't be activated on the TomTom server.
Searching the forums shows people who have had the same issue, but I can't see any resolutions. Has anyone got this problem resolved (Without warez please!)?
I think that is because the diamon have no TMC reciever.

AFAIK TomTom Traffic has nothing to do with TMC. It downloads traffic data from TT via data connection.

Which is correct, looking around it looks as if there may be different servers for TT7 traffic.
BTW, MarcLandis do you have the XDA Diamond and if so what's the TomTom version number? I just want to check that the version on here is the same version supplied with the XDA Diamond.
Am I correct that TomTom v7.450 (9028) was supplied with the O2 XDA Diamond (Please only answers from people who have the XDA Diamond)?

How many tweaks did you have to do to activate legitimate maps? Were they W Europe v7.xx?
Tomtom Error 1506
Does any one have an answer. Please.............. ???
Anyone has tried TomTom Navigator with the raphael?
How did u success?
I've installed it once, but had some problems that made it kinda useless, very bad gps lag and the signal level indicator was missing (IE. saying no signal).
EDIT: First post in this area, yay
TomTom installed just fine and worked fine yesterday, but now it can't find any satelite signals. I had the same problem on the Tilt. Guess I am giving up on TomTom.

HTC TP TomTom works just fine
Hi
Yes I'm using TomTom almost every day to/from work and it works just fine. TomTom had a major update a few weeks ago and after the update it works perfect. I bought the map-version on their website and had some struggle to install it on my phone, but after activate my SD-micro card like TomTom explained on their support site, it works just fine. It has fix on at least 5 satellites in less than 30 sec every time. But it's important to have a radio that gives you that the possibilities to have just that. There is good information to find the best radio in Raphael WiKi forum. TomTom has included traffic information as well, so I use any suggestion in order to avoid blocked streets.
Sincerely
Morten from Oslo, Norway

What version is it? I'm still using one the binary I found here in the forums as I thought there wasn't an official one working yet. (i.e. you have to use application binaries from phones with it preinstalled.)
Mine works fine as well though, but it's always nice to go "official" when you have bought the maps anyway....

After I added the tweaks for TT (mentioned on XDA) TT works much better. Better responce and accuracy. (on MDA Compact IV original T-mobile NL rom)

Mind to show us the way to that tweak? Mine TT7 on my CDMA TP works just fine (it finds satellite quite quickly) but there is some noticible lags.

I ment this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427888
Thanks GVR! Seems like that solved the lagging problem on my CDMA TP! Now TT7 is much faster in terms of updating my location.
And that was my only issue with the GPS here, I was able to get a fix with 9 satellites INSIDE a highrise in downtown in less then 5 seconds.
Awesome! I'm going to save that and hope someone can create a cab for those edits.
Hi guys
I have recently purchased HTC Touch PRO (Raphael) and tried to install TomTom Navigator 7.450 (9028) for Windows Mobile with Tomtom Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB_810_1940 but can not do it.
I mean I have installed TOMTOM all fine but it shows me that maps are not supported by this device
Can some one help me and point me in the right direction on how to install these maps ?
Cheers and many thanks

You took a map version 8.10. That will not work

After a major update true TomTom Home 2.4 I've got version 7.910 (9185). That is the official version and I'm using maps for western and central Europe bought from TomTom. I started with the TomTom CAB application found here in the forum, since there wasn't any to download. But last week the program (CAB) in my HTC TP was updated automatically using Home 2.4. Even my maps are now automatically update once TomTom relizes updates.
I have a signed CAB version in my PC and HTC TP from TomTom now, that came with the update, but I do not know if it can be used by others. Maybe it is signed to be used only with my TomTom maps?
The CAB file is named navcore_7.910.9185_TT_SIGNED.htc_raphael.CAB
I will not upload anything until someone tells me wheter I am aloud to do so and that it will not be a violation in this forum.

Im afraid to say you will not get much help because these are maps that werent purchased or obtained legally, hence it falls under the Warez category. I kindly advice you to stop asking instead before you get banned. Have a nice day
I installed TT7 and ran a test 2 days ago. The result was GPS show me 500 ft ahead
Can I please get a link to this program?
Link to TT7
you can find it in this forum

I think it's Xtreme XL post.
FYI ... TT7 is backward compatible with the 6.75 maps.
Hi, I wasted an entire weekend trying to get TT VERSION 7 to work. I have downloaded TT_Nav_7.450.9028_repack3-vga-black and I have a Southern_Africa_v7.20.1862 map.
After installation, TT goes through the process of choosing lang, speaker etc.It then asks me to download a free map, Southern Africa is not located in the list.
Can somebody please please assist and tell me what I am doing wrong and How can I activate the Southern_Africa_v7.20.1862 map.
Is there a way where I can just use the Southern_Africa_v7.20.1862 map and not download any others? Another issue, How do I activate my GPS unit?
Thanks in advance

I'm gonna get my TD2 tomorow morning.
I think it should work with the right app.
I'll post my findings here.
Grtz, mayen
some news? static navigation possible? does it show low speeds about 2km/h and updates small changes of coordinates when walking ? someone tried geocaching?
im thinking up buying it if it is usable for geocaching.
thx & greetings
bubbas
I use mine to do geocaching using MemoryMap works great
Geocaching software
I didn't use my TD2 for geocaching yet...
But i allready installed some apps:
GCz (for Geocaching) for WM5/WM6 (freeware)
and
VITO Navigator II 1.33 (shareware)
They both work good on my TD2.
Another thumbs up for GCz here. I have been using It and it works great, quick and easy to use.
so you switched static navigation off? does it show very low speeds and when u walk around slowly?
thanks for your responses!
greetings
bubbas
I already got my TD2! I tried BeeLineGPS and the results were great as opposed to my experiments with a Touch 3G. Low speed and small distances are now detected.
Seems like this device is ready for some serious geocaching
thank you very much for your response! i'll be soon with td2 on geocaching tour then
GCz is a great app but I can't get it to work with my TD2 on a 3G connection. It works fine at home on WiFi.

The message I'm getting at the moment is "Cache not found", previously I was getting the error "Internet open url failed", but this is when my connection wasn't working in any application.
It's strange as I can use the 3G/HSDPA connection in other apps without issue and when I switch back to WiFi GCz works a treat.

I'm not sure if this is the solutium, but it's worth trying :
GCz uses a proxyserver: Menu> Option> Proxy Setting
Try unchecking "Use Proxy", or use your own / another proxy.
just wondering if you guys can help
i get the error message
COM port open failed
[COM0: 4800]
any ideas?
The GPS on the TD2 is on COM4, not COM0, so you need to configure your app for the correct port.

I found a very nice freeware geocaching application ... its optimized for touchscreen and has many features, although still in development:

Thought could be intresting for some other people ...
