Is it possible to disable automatic syncing without having to go into each account and alter the settings?
I'd like to be able to disable my phone from checking work related email on the weekend and disable all my accounts from syncing at night when I'm sleeping.
I don't see any settings that do this, but I thought maybe this info is stored in the registry? If so, couldn't .cab files be created to alter the registry? That way, I can add those .cab files to my start menu and with a single click it will change the registry and no longer sync those mail accounts. Maybe I'm not saying this right... but I'm thinking along the lines of the Cingular Proxy cab that is used to enable or disable the proxy by using the start menu.
Is this possible?
if its via the exchange server you can goto (in activesync)
menu > schedule then adjust your peak times n make it manually for for off peak times

My accounts are IMAP and my two mail servers are not MS Exchange... so that won't work for me.
install phoneAlarm and you can set your email and activesync auto-update preferences for each profile.

That's pretty cool.. I didn't realize PA had the ability to change email syncing times.
One problem though... I'm using a manila ROM on my phone so I never see the default home screen. Is there a way to change profiles with a button?

OK, this is probably a silly question, but I can't figure it out for the life of me.
I have set up a mail account to Gmail. In that account I'm forwarding some other accounts of mine, so it gets pretty crowded.
What I would like to do is delete messages from my phone but NOT from Gmail.
Outlook Mobile offers two choices, as far as I can see: when deleting messages either
Move them to server trash, or
Delete them off the server.
Neither of those suits me. I only want to delete them from the bloody phone.
A further restriction is that I like to use my mail from TF3D, and therefore would rather not having to install another mail client unless TF3D can somehow be coerced into working with it.
Oh, and in case you wonder - I don't sync my mail with the desktop Outlook. I'm using Gmail more and more...
Thank you all for your help.
have you tried both options, and seen what the effect on the server inbox is?
ive thought of this before, and it annoyed me greatly, but i cant remember the solution. plus, we all know how wm doesnt word things correctly.

err... sorry.. duplicate post.. don't know why
Tap on mail (touch flo)
Inbox
Menu-Tools-options
Tap on Gmail
(setting should open up now)
Hit 'Edit Account Setup'
Click on next next next next next
(hide key board on Automatic Send/Receive screen)
Hit 'Advanced Settings'
When deleting messages: (drop down menu)
You can set it there to not delete the messages from the server
Hope this helps

Thank you for your answer. However, I only have the two options described in my first post. Can you see a third option there?
err.. oops. Just checked again
I could have sworn it was there!
Sorry mate. guess that was on the P1 or something.. not sure.
This might not be a feasible solution, but ... just a thought..
You could set it to keep the messages only for the last 4 or 5 days..
that way, they won't be on your phone, but will be on your server.
A POSSIBLE workaround.. definitely not a solution
Here is what I configured to use the diamond without loss of messages during their removal :
I created a special e-mail address to use with my mobile phone, like [email protected].
And I set up a redirect additional for all my messages to it.
Now, I can delete all my messages without erasing the ones on my main account.
Try to go to "tools" - "option". Click the account you need to edit. Click "send/receive schedule" - "advance settings" - "when deleting messages" dropdown menu.....

Same thing. Just the two options.
Delete from Server.. or Move to Server Trash
OK, I think I've got it. It all boils down to the fact that the default Gmail setup is IMAP. If you change that to POP3 (using the instructions from Gmail) you will be able to delete your mails on the phone only.
It would be nice if someone could confirm this. It certainly seems to be working for me.
EDIT: WORKS! I get "Keep them on server" now.
The problem is related to the gmail server own rules. I have just made a test account and there is no "keep on server" option on the WM mail client. On my other account (my own domain/server) there is no problem.
You could use another mail provider (hotmail, live) for example.

Turns out it actually is IMAP vs POP3. While IMAP is generally better, when you do something locally (on the phone) it is as if it was done on the server (a disadvantage in this case).
The key is to fool Diamond into not recognizing Gmail, which means giving the address as [email protected]gm.com, then put all the POP3 settings.
On the other hand, I've noticed it will only download the unread messages...
On my Windows Mobile 5, I had my Hotmail account in my Outlook. It looked just like any other email account. Now with WM6 on my Touch Pro, when I try to set up my Hotmail account, it just opens the web browser and take me to the Hotmail website, so I must log in there to get my emails. Just like any other webmail.
Is there a way to get Hotmail in my Outlook on WM6?
Have you tried logging into Messenger on the device? It should take you to the Windows Live setup screen, then select sync email (I disabled the sync contacts thing since it messed up my contacts). Hotmail should appear in your mail accounts then
Great! Thanks a lot, it worked
heya, I'm a first time wimo user and i tried to do the stuff you mentioned above, but it didn't work. I got into messenger, but it takes me straight to my contacts list. apart from that i couldn't find the option to sync the contact list. I accessed the messenger software through messages/messenger

While you were setting up your Messenger account there should be a screen that asks if you want to syncronise your Hotmail contacts and emails to your device. If you missed that you might need to re-do the signup process again.
actually, this does work but if u log out of messenger, the mailbox also disappears... hummm...... so its not a perm solution.
I encounter a similiar as you do. I have dl another version Windows Live from http://wl.windowsmobile.com, but you have to remove the HTC PRO existing version which have IM function, this one dl does not. [I use Ebuddy to connect my MSN instead.]

Hotmail location
I checked through my installed programs and the only messaging client i can find is the one with msn aol and yahoo bundled together. is it possible i need to instal a cab to get the messenger w/ hotmail working, or iam i not looing in the correct directory on the fuze?
Try Windows Live Hotmail for Windows Mobile
http://www.gowindowslive.com/Mobile/Landing/HMforWM/Default.aspx?Locale=en-US
the link should take you to the download of the program. Once you install you can set up your hotmail account in you phone and it should go through a process of accepting terms and conditions, etc and then it should appear normally in your phone.
Hope this works.
only 50 e-mails ?
although i got my hotmail in my messages inbox i can only see the last 50 e-mail messages, when i synchronise my hotmail on my Pro it stops at 50, but if i remove 1 mail from my device and sync again then the device only downloads 1 more email to top up to 50..
all i want is ALL my emails downloaded at the same time, not max 50.

Scroll to the "Email" TF3D tab. Once there, click "Inbox" (on the bottom to the left).
> Once inside your "Inbox", click "Menu" (on the bottom to the right).
> In the "Menu" box Highlight and select "Tools.
> The "Tools" box will bring another box, in it Highlight and select "Manage Folders".
> Once inside "Manage Folders" Tap and hold the "Inbox" folder.
> This brings a small box, Highlight and select "Folder Options" which will take ya to another screen Called "Inbox" options.
> Once there you can choose how many days to download or and whether the entire message or only its header.

Does this work if you want to add more than one Hotmail accounts?
You can also use the beta @ http://www.seven.com which will let you have several hotmail accounts. I use it, and it works pretty well.

Hotmail doesn't allow POP3 access so the only way you can access it is through a web browser. The solution to that is to get a less **** email service, Gmail for example allows POP3 access so could be set up to work through your phone.

GMail also offers IMAP.
Hi
if you dont already have the windows live apllication on your device, locate the cab in the diamond forum once installed and you hotmail add etc entered go to menu, options sync schedule and under sync frequency select "as items arrive". this will have you mail pused automatically to your device.

After upgrading to 1.93: No "advanved" tab in phone options, Push-email setting lost
Hi,
I have successfully upgraded the ROM of my unbranded Diamond to 1.93 using the German ROM file downloaded directly from htc.com. Everything went Ok, the phone is well and faster as before. However I notice the following things:
a.) In the Phone options (on the phone page, tap menu->options) I have all tabs from Phone (leftmost), Services, Network, etc. etc. and Others (rightmost) but next to that the "Advanced" tab is supposed to be there --- but it is not! (Of course the German version should show this tab as "Erweitert").
b.) Before the upgrade there was a "Microsoft Push e-mail" setting in the TFL3D settings page. This is not there anymore.
Any ideas anyone?
BTW: Can anyone point me to a page describing how to get push-email going with my diamond using a free push-email provider on the internet? Thanks.
Cheers // Tom
a) see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=429823
b) Advanced Config - Menu - More Settings - Comm Manager
Deselect something you don't need (so much) and select Push mail
Thanks a lot -- works flawlessly.
Where can I configure Microsoft Direct Push, though? I can't find that?
Thanks // Tom
Open Program Advanced Config (version 3.2)
Select Menu (left bottom)
Select More Settings
Select Comm Manager
Select button style ON/OFF buttons
Then you can select 6 choices
One of the choices is Microsoft Direct Push
OK
Done
Softreset
Ok - got it now.
A related question: I want to use GMX Push Mail using IMAP IDLE.
I've configured the account on the Touch Diamond but how can I enable IMAP IDLE on my Touch Diamond so that it doesn't disconnect the IMAP session and stay connected and immediately get newly arriving e-mails?
Thanks // Tom
Oh - and when I have multiple e-mail accounts, where can I select which e-mail account is the default for the TF3D display?
BTW: I love my Touch Diamond!
Tom
The default email account is the first one you add. The amount of unread emails is an aggregate of all your accounts in TouchFLO 3D.
About the push email, haven't used GFX, but with Exchange you just set Activesync sync schedule to 'As items Arrive' which turns on push email. Sorry I can't help more than that!
Ok, thanks but ain't there a way to change the e-mail account which is used for display in Touchflo 3D?
As for push-email. The HTC e-mail client is said to support IMAP IDLE, however I cannot find any setting related to that?
Any other ideas anyone?
Thanks again everybody for your help.
Cheers // Tom

I'm not sure what you mean, as 'multiple' email account can be shown in TouchFLO 3D? Once you set up more than one, you can click the little icons and the envelope will flip over to show you the next account? And like I said, the first account you set up is the one that is shown first on the mail tab. I'm sorry if I'm misunderstanding your question.

Ok, I was misunderstanding the Mail page in Touchflo 3D. I did not see the little e-mail account selection icons on the right border of the screen. I have my old GMX account on the top now and my new GMX Push account on the bottom and can select between the two.
Now the only thing left is the IMAP IDLE setting which I cannot find.
As a related question: GMX requires particular SSL ports to be used for sending/receiving mails. Where can I configure the mail server SSL ports?
Thanks everybody // Tom
Hi all,
There was a feature in old Exchange stock Android email app that I miss: "peak time"... You could define two different sync frequencies based on hours/days. I'm currently doing something "similar" with Tasker + Synker plugin, which enables you to de/activate android account sync... But It's not the same, as this way if I enter my exchange account and what to see my mails or write a new one I can't because sync is disabled... I would love to be able to change sync frequency from "push" to "manual" when out of peak hours... As you may know, exchange push is a little of a pain for our battery.
So: any way to control sync frequency from inside a Tasker task?
Thanks a lot!
Not exactly, but you can set up time-sensitive contexts and then enable/disable syncing using Synker.

Yes. That's what I'm doing right now... but then out of hours I can't use it as the sync it's disabled. I'm searching something more usable.
