Different backlight manager, why? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

After Kaiser Tweaks installation, I had lot of problem with backlight management.
I had already solved the problem of the backlight dimming after locking, removing the registry item.
But after using KaiserTweaks, that key randomly reappered. Randomly, meaning that if I delete it now, then it comes back two days later, or 5 days later, etc...
Now, deleting and deleting it many times, maybe because of other options properly checked, that key is no more reappearing, and everything seems ok (Kaisertweaks had already been uninstalled since few weeks).
What I don't understand is the backlight manager. Tapping on the icon in the htc today plug-in, I usually obtained a form with two sliders, battery and plugger power backlight settings. Now, I obtain a different backlight manager, with only the checks for "switch off backlight when phone not used for... minutes", but no sliders.
In the settings tab, I have TWO different Backlight icons. One starts the original backlight manager, the other starts the new one.
How can I link the htc today plug-in backlight icon to the proper manager???
Bye
Alberto

Need Help with Vijay Lumos Workaround using HTC Home prog

With Kaiser not having a transreflective screen, I've really been missing the ability to map a key to toggle the screen brightness like I could with Vijay Lumos III on Hermes.
I don't use the HTC Home screen, but today I activated it and played with it some. I found that it has an app preloaded in the Launcher tab that toggles the display in 4 steps from Low to Hi and back. Using the add function I can see this application as "Adjust Backlight" along with most all of the other programs loaded on the unit.
I would like to create a shortcut link to this app and then map a hardkey to do this function, however for the life of me I can't find this program! I'm hoping that there is some kind soul that can help me locate this prog so that it can be used outside of the HTC Home Screen. I've been looking for a couple of hours and it's got me whipped.
In \Windows I found HH_Launcher Backlight.png which is the icon for the app.
Hopefully I'm not the only one who whould like to have this capability
bump.
Looking to do something like this as well.
found WkTASK (http://soft.photoracer.net/docs/wktask_en.html) which is a nice utility and is supposed to have a brightness and volume control. Everything BUT the brightness and volume control work on my tilt however.
Here's what I've done to work around this... using AE Button Plus, I've mapped the center dpad button ("enter") with standard behavior on single click, and I've mapped a press/hold to the "backlight" application. This brings up the app in settings that lets you set the brightness levels for "on battery" and "powered". Since it wakes up with the "on battery" section active, you then just have to use the "left/right" dpad buttons to turn the brightness up or down (and down/up flips between the battery and on power settings). Not quite a one-click fix, but a click of the center button, and a few of the right button will brighten your screen fairly easily.
The trick here was that AEBPlus didn't want to map directly to the backlight.exe file. When telling it to map the press/hold to an application, it simply didn't appear in the list (even thought I could see it in the directory). Perhaps it hides system files to keep you from accidentally doing something bad. So I had to make a shortcut to backlight.exe, then map AEBPlus to the shortcut.
Kind of a clunky workaround, but it works.

Turning Bluetooth On

Is there a program that will turn Bluetooth On/Off and when On, allows it to be visible to other devices? (that is ticking both the boxes on the bluetooth settings) ??
Anyone?
been looking for something like this for ages... there are a few options, neither of which were what i really wanted....
try btIO - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=284923&highlight=btIO
(issues for me : it runs in the tray with a tiny icon which is not so finger-friendly, and creating a shortcut to it with a bigger icon for the today screen just seems to launch multiples of the program rather than activating / deactivating the BT)
and there seems to be an HTC BT Today plugin somewhere...
i'm now using wisbar, and a shortcut on the screen goes to the BT settings pages. not ideal, but closest i've come to what i need...
edit -
try this, second prog down the list :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333237&highlight=htc+bluetooth+today+plugin
Ive just had a look at btIO, and Im og the same thought as you - not wanting it to be memory resident etc, so I tried the Smartphone version which cycles between the 3 states everytime you run it Eg Off, Connectable/Discoverable/back to off again, which is what I want, and it works on the PPC!
(actually its not 100% perfect, it goes Off/Connectable/Connectable/Discoverable/off, so you have to run it an extra time to get it to connectable, but it the best Ive seen so far.
AE Button Plus, does this easily and so much more, I have my Win button set for double tap=BT On/Off, tripple tap=WiFi On/Off.

Thanx dude....AE Button Plus is now a must have program for me This is what i call fully utilizing all the buttons on the Kaiser
Edit: Is there a way to map the button to turn on "Beam". Unless i'm expecting a file transfer, beam is normally off and would be great if i could just turn it on with two press of a button
WOW!
That really is a great little app saves so much messing around, top tip!

2 New Utils.. (BrightLock and TouchControl)

Hey guys, I thought I'd share with you all 2 new toys for our Kaisers/Tilts.
BrightLock is a small utility that gets installed in to your startup folder. It will stop the Tilt/Kaiser from dimming the display every time it is locked. It replaces the needed for a script to hack the registry each time.
Touch Control gives you an easy way to tweak your touch screen sensitivity without having to dig through other tweak tools.
Both are available on my RapidShare folder:
http://rapidshare.com/users/C7VW57
I'll put them up as packages for Chefs when I get a chance.
isnt the touch control already there when you have touch flo or if you have any kind of cube installed already...?
I don't know, I don't install either with my roms.
Thank you for both of those, I don't use the cube either. These will help man.
I don't use touch but BrightLock fixes the last (non-driver or lack of driver ) issue I have with the Tilt.
Thanks
TouchControl isn't related to the HTC Touch or cube. It's just for adjusting the sensitivity on the actual touchscreen. Same as recalibrating only you look at it as a slider.
brightview seems utility..touchcontrol seems bloatware
brightview seems utility..touchcontrol seems bloatware
thanks tho for the apps
BrightLock is a great idea, BUT it changes the backlight setting to 10 seconds on my TyTN II, an unacceptably short amount of time. Maybe there's a simple fix for this issue??
-Bob-
doesn't kaisertweak already give that change for touch sensitivity?
Can anyone give me the registry entry to try the backlight fix, since the BrightLock app won't work for me. I'm wondering if a manual edit causes the backlight setting to change to 10 seconds too.
EDIT: Found it!
HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\LockLevel
There REG_DWORD Key called LockLevel can be set between 0-10 (0=0%, 10=100% locklevel backlight brightness)
EDIT 2: It looks like editing the LockLevel has the same result as BrightLock, the backlight turns off after 10 seconds. I'm way too dimwitted to be able to function with only 10 seconds of backlight, so I guess there's really no fix for me.
Thanks.

TouchControl Requirements
I installed TouchControl on my Tilt and it is requesting a newer version of .NET. What version does this program require?
I am using the latest official ROM version from HTC.

They are compiled against .NET 3.5
Rebecker, that's really odd. All I'm doing is forcing LockLevel to 10 at boot then dumping from memory. It's a quick fix to save the user from having to setup scripting/etc.
LockLevel should ONLY affect the brightness when locked.
I tried "Bright Lock" and it changes the locklevel key to 10 (full brightness) at power On, but has the side effect of changing the key "Battery Timeout" to 7 (seconds) which dims the display in 7 seconds when the phone is unlocked as well as locked.
Haven't found a way to get a bright screen at power-up to see the screen to unlock it (with a short timer like 7 seconds), then revert to the backlight timer setting (like 30 seconds or more) once unlocked!
There is another thread dealing with short backlight issues and it seems that LockLevel and BatteryTimeout are linked somehow???
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=351709
What do you think the BatteryTimeoutTemp key does?
EDIT
In any case, if you REMOVE Bright Lock, then re-name the DeviceLock key like the referenced thread describes and soft reset, BINGO, the Backlight comes on bright for about 7 seconds when locked AND it stays On for the duration of the settings>backlight timer when un-locked!

Display always powered on

Hi,
first...excuse me for my very bad english!!!
I have the following problem: after installed some programs the display remain always powered on also after many minutes.
I think that some parameter in the registru have been chanched.
Someone know how can I resolve the problem?
Thanks!
Doc
After watching something in TCMP player I have that issue sometimes. The screen just wont go back to sleep. I fix it by going into the start menu > settings > power options, usually just going in there and back to the home screen will reset it for me. However when I first installed it I had the time out options set pretty high and it did not always power off after installing stuff. I lowerd those and have not had a problem since.
Could be a different problem though, what program did you install? What changes to the phone have you made?
this is a knows bug in the s710 and s730. programs like tomtom and TCMP player change the Display key to a high value and reset it to the previous. Th eproblem is the key doen't exist on there phones.
search for the backlight-bug in the s710 forum.
start menu > settings > power options > ok, then you have reset all parameters
Regards
If the light goes off, but the display stays on, you must lock your keyboard, display goes out after some time that way(like you've set in the "settings" menu).
look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=303778
To solve the problem get a registry editor and do the following:
HKCU / Control Panel / Power => values => LockLevel then you open the values and set "Display" to 30 (30 equals 30 seconds).
domenicostorino:
Thanks. I hope this finally helps.
Unfortunately the display's again on. "Display timeout on battery" and "Display time out on AC" are again (automaticaly) set to 30 seconds and the display doesn't go off.
Thats really weird, without changing anything on mine once I exit the Core or TCPMP player I just load the power options and click done, just going in the menu resets my phone to normal power off functions.
I wonder if in the regestry its not actually locking in the change like the call beep...

Diamond returns to Today Screen on device lock

Hi, the Diamond returns itself to the Today Screen (with the huge clock) every time the device locks itself. I did the registry hack "AutoDeviceLockEnable" to lock itself after it goes to standby (40 sec.). This also happens when LONG pressing the right phone button.
I like to stay in my apps after switching the device off.
I have NO PASSWORD policy on the device (I know there are other articles which claim password policy is the reason)
Is this Windows 6.0/6.1 generic or a "special feature" in co with the TouchFlo interface?
Maybe someone knows a reg-key to turn that off.
Would be a great help!
Yours B.
Untick the today timeout in settings > today.
??? This setting is to return to today screen after 4 hours of usage, that doesn't help!
pushing it up, can't believe no one has an idea!?
Annoying for me too. The other day I was editing some settings, left the phone for 30s so it locked and went to the today screen which messed my TFL3D for a little while.
Anybody have a solution please?
Has this been solved yet.
As I want to put device on lock with the application in use screen still displayed
still nothing?
This is standard WM behaviour, it returns to the Today screen upon locking. In my opinion, your options are (1) use a different lock or (2) use a task manager to easily switch back to the required program.
I don't use TF3D so it's easy for me to select the required program using a simple task manager at the top of the today screen. I use DevState 1.5, configured to show just a row of big task icons. This works really well in combination with SPB Pocket Plus, like so:

You can try TouchLockPro
This is special made for locking/unlocking with an running application active.
