...I'm considering getting another phone to replace the Diamond.

The Diamond has been with me ever since it was released in June, but there always seems to be this or that issues with every ROM release.
I'm considering the E71 as a replacement...but also trying to hold off on the purchase to see will the Diamond improve anytime soon.
Issues with my Diamond:
Accelerometer
Alarm sound not repeating
Memory leak
why everybody that think about changing the diamond feel the urge to announce it in a new thread that is coming to become a mess like all the same threads on the same subject? why? you are a senior member, you should know better.
i recommend you to read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=415852
and afterward do what u please. no big deal...good luck!
please keep the forum clean!
I "Should"? "Senior" member doesn't mean jack as it's only post count related.
I don't see why that thread is recommended...maybe I'm missing something?

and... ? This was so important that you had to open a new post?
Buy E71 and Good Bye Or maybe I should try to convince you not to do it or something
I will open a new post tomorrow saying what I've ate at lunch :]
The forum will be then definitely more readable.
100% AGREE wit KukurikU.
Simply the fact that this thread is useless, doesn't bring any information, plus the facts cited are plainly wrong in my experience.
That's all you're missing. Good bye and good luck with your new phone. The corresponding forum awaits you.
Hum...why even bother to reply to a useless thread?
Why have the urge to convince someone that your view is more correct than others?

Do you actually have something to say and contribute to this forum, or are you just trying to be controversial?

"contribute" in the form of "useful information": no.
But I do have a question: With all the devices from HTC in the past, do they perform better over time, with newer ROM releases? Does HTC bother much with ROM updates even after the launch of each product? I guess I should have posted the "question" in the first post of this thread...but then again...it wouldn't be considered as useful information. Given this, it's why I'm trying to hold off my other purchase.
P.S. Not directed at anyone, but, some people on these forums just have a "I'm better than you" complex and have the urge to reply to threads saying "why start a new thread". Geez...just don't reply to it, it'll eventually be history and move itself down the list of threads. Unless you're the administrator concerning with storage issues.
i want my 2 mins back...
well I dont have a problem with the Accelerometer or the Alarm sound not repeating, and the memory leak for me stabilises at 70% and stuff works fine and fast 4 me even then... go buy you symbian device if you want and perhaps get an iphone while your at it, good luck and good bye.
Leave the guy alone!
chatbox, i too just got the E71 after having the DIamond since its release, infact i think this will be my last Windows Mobile Phone well at least till windows 7 comes out.
I got so sick & tired of every rom, having either issues, or being slow at "certain" tasks & also the fact that with WMP's you need 2-3 steps to do the same task in 1 step on say a Nokia. Also once you use hard buttons like the keyboard on E71 you'll hate touch screen keyboard were its slow & many mistakes.
I will though miss flashing roms & trying diffrent tweaks in the registery etc..etc..
But honestly its a phone & i need 3 major tasks in a phone.
Simple, Fast & stable.
If u try the E71, i promise u wont regret it bro.
I think chatbox is desperately trying to find some solution for diamond problems he is suffering from using this thread. A last try just before leaving the boat.
I dont tink that is wrong from him. After all this community forum is all about assisting each other. If he is asking for help or openion that will not mess up the forum
Senior Members... we highly appreciate your contributions to make or lives easier using diamond and making this forum the most comprehensive information / tools source all over the web however dont expect that all other members are as good as you in the know-how issue so please bear with us
Cheers
Enough!
Enough of this!

Why this website is "not manufactured by htc = no xda support"???

Hey Guys
Could anyone explain why this website is "not manufactured by htc = no support" ????
i mean is it a technical problem ? maybe a flashing problem ? because the people who make roms etc ... im sure they would like to make roms for any kind of phone and not only for htc.
Second:
xda support... i don't understand the term really and it doesnt make much sense ... i think we're a community who owns xperia's and modify the roms and make customization and make it public ... just like themes, icons, programs... for example all programs or icons available as cabs or other formats they can be used by any wm phone.
And also registry tweakings, hw problems we discuss etc.
so my question is does this website have a policy not to create a section for non htc phones ? or there are technical problems ? If there is a policy then i think all people who buy X2 should find another website and create a new community and if it's more technical reated well i propose to make anyway a section for X2 and exchange ideas ... share programs tweaks... etc.
i guess the reason for this is to keep a tight community.
there are many HTC devices and enough people to service.
if you find a website on dogs then it is very understandable if they dont want posts about cats. you can however argument they should do a website about all animals because in general they all eat, sleep and ****. also you can add humans for this reason . if you think long enough then you need only 1 page for carbon-based lifeforms ...
its the internet. you pick a theme, create a page and (normally) stick to it. Its the best way to find experts in your field/theme.
- QuadWord
p.s.: i guess the X2 is a (first time) special case because it will be similar to the X1 in many ways. it is only a matter of time to wait for the first X2 owner posts here. then we will see if this forum tolerates cat/dog mutants ;-) the best compromise would be to add a small x2 subforum in the x1 section. the x2 software and rom will be an essential source for x1 modifications an therefore the x2 should have a small place here (my opinion).

I nominate you for best forum thread answer EVER!
I guess you missed the point of this site / forum: as from the beginning xda-developers has been the community for the XDA (like O2 XDA, Qtek, I-mate & the latter HTC-) users who wanted or needed their underperformed Wallabies to be as promised.
Later the BlueAngel, Alpine etc devices came out and this site is / has been the place to be for these devices.
I had the Blueangel, Hermes and now the Kovsky.
When i had a SE-P800 i knew the great cooks here dindn`t do any symbian-stuff so i had to go for an another site; this is (i guess) very normal?
Edit:
Of course i`m one of the Kovsky-users who likes to see the X2-stuff here ported for the X1 !! But no hard feelings if that`s not going to happen; the internet-village isn`t so big so we`ll visit a X2-related site also ;-)
All we are going to see is probably some stuff being ported from X2 to X1. So does the rom etc. I dont think we'll see any rom for X2 popping up here,or if there is it'll probably be in the off topic section.
i dont know much about technical stuff, but i remember reading it somewhere that HTC made phone have their own "different" bootloader thing. Thats why hardSPL on some htc devices is pretty much similar, different to other non htc device like omnia.
someone please correct me if im wrong.
cheers
we all need to agree on a X2 sight that we will all go onto otherwise we will disperse!!!

[Poll] New "Android only" forum?

Sorry for posting this here, but I couldn't really find a suitable place since most of the Android action is right here.
These past weeks I've noticed an increase of irrelevant threads and clutter being made in regards to Android development in the HTC Dream forum and every other Android development forum on xda. A lot of Android devices out on the market now are not made by HTC. This of course is causing a problem since this forum is for HTC devices only.
Maybe it would be a good idea if a new forum was created that accounts for all native Android devices (Motorola Droid/Milestone, Motorola Cliq/Dext, Samsung Galaxy, etc...). That way, a lot of the clutter would surely be resolved and a considerate load would be taken off of this server (Gotta hate the horrible load on xda these days...).
I'm sure there are quiet a few people on here that have an HTC device and are fully satisfied with it (Me included!). That doesn't mean that everyone else has to feel the same way. People that choose to go with Samsung, Motorola, etc. for their next Android device should not be left out. That's why I believe there should definitely be a forum that serves everyone.
To put up a new forum specifically for this matter takes no time at all, but it does take participation. So if you feel like this is something you would like to see, please feel free to leave a comment.
What are you're opinions on this matter? Agree? Disagree?
Discuss.
EDIT: If there's enough people interested in this project, would there be anyone willing to help getting things started in terms of hosting space or something similar?
my thoughts are that the few changes that have been recently made should help if they are utilized. now we have a forum for general android development for devs, and the rom releases are in the device specific forums. Here was my idea, but i think they made the right choice. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4795376&postcount=1

It's a start. But I don't think xda is going to put up more sub forums for each new device out there. Thus, development and ROM threads for Motorola and other devices will be left out. Unless I understood your post incorrectly
no, you're right, i just dont think xda WANTS to keep up with every brand that uses android. they apparently keep their focus on HTC devices. there are gonna be a FLOOD of manufacturers utilizing droid in the future, and unless xda wants to change their focus, they will stick with one brand

Yea that's exactly my point.
There WILL be a flood of Android devices from all kinds of manufacturers and it would be nice if there was a place for all of them come together. That way, everyone can keep track of specific development without having to switch between dozens of forums.
My $0.02.
good luck, my friend. Most likely it will take someone to else to start a new site to accomplish. funny, i was fooling around a couple days ago and did this. http://www.new.facebook.com/group.php?gid=176593179336&v=wall
not saying this is the solution, but you are not alone in your concerns.
I see that a few agree with me, care to share your point of view? Maybe it will spark this thing.

How many people are still in here.

I want to check how many people are still in here.
I'd like to contribute sth. for xda again and I dont know if I should post sth. for Android/Desire or WinMo/Xperia.
I'd like to cook a Rom or make Skins and Wallpapers for Windows Mobile, because it's easier for me, but if nobody is here anymore that will be lost time.
So please check in here and VOTE
I really hope there's enough feedback for winmo
yeah I hope so too.
You do realise this post is extremely biased because those that rarely visit the forum arent even going to see this thread!!
Yup I AM looking for more xperia 1 applications -can you please guide me I want to use the call recordern in win mobile notes - but it stops recording automatically after 30 seconds - please help reply to [email protected] - thanks in advance
HAHA, true. But it will be a good indication of just how many active members there are on the xperia forums.
I'm quite excited about the android development and when it is stable it'll be going straight onto my x1.
But for now, the winmo is the way to go.
Monitor how many posts the forum has per day and how much it increases every 24 hours, then you'll know how many folks are on it everyday and conributing etc might be more accurate method
still got my x1a. dont go to the xperia as often as i use to but i drop in every now and then.
bought an hd2 and so i visit that sight a little more frequent. but even before i bought my hd2, i didnt visit the xperia as much as when i had the xperia in the first year.
now today, im going to go buy the palm pre plus from at&t and so i will be frequently dropping by the precentral.net
sure would like to see webos ported to either the x1 or hd2
nobody here just us chicken
And me!
But I came here more when I just became a member. Now I only check the Rom development and the Android sections. And I think this is maybe the same for other users. You should check out those threads aswell. But it is allways great when someone new wants to develop for our devices! So please choose the Xperia!
I had my X1i for 8 month's now and had no problems at all and Android makes the X1i that much more enjoyable. I'm very happy to hear you want to make more cool improvements to are phones.

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ!!!

Hi folks,
I've spent a few days looking over the forum and have to say. good work
There don’t seem to be many issues, everyone seems to be getting on in the spirit of XDA.
I'm a firm fan of ‘if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it’ so I'm not going to be flying in making huge changes or swapping things around. this is your forum I'm just here to help keep things nice. if anyone has any ideas of how to improve things in this area - (not XDA as a whole) please drop me a PM, and we’ll put it to a vote. if it’s a good idea I'll change it if i can or I'll push for the changes with the senior team.
While this may be a legacy forum it’s clear there is still a lot of interest and a lot of life in this device still keep up the work and we’ll keep the phone alive I want to start on the right foot so a FEW IMPORTANT REMINDERS
please take the time to read - and for regular users - re-read the forum rules. it’s a good thing to remind yourselves of how we work http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=341
All the rules are important but to focus on a few.
we are here to help and learn. people do make mistakes. I don’t like users being flamed for asking a question. I'd rather we educated and pointed people in the right way to help them for the future. it’s OK to say use search - it’s not OK to abuse people
I also don’t like people putting a lot of work into something and getting flamed either - a lot of the work posted is a work in progress - people share this out of the goodness of their heart and also so they can get positive comments on how to improve. Again it’s not OK to abuse people cos they shared a work in progress.
sharing work - many developers are happy to share their work with others and in some cases one persons work is used as a base by others. - If you want to change someones work and then release it as your own - ASK FOR PERMISSION FIRST AND THEN LINK TO THE ORIGINAL DEV IN YOU RELEASE!!!
don’t post or link to warez - they will be removed.
Please report any issues or concerns to me as soon as you can using the report button or by PM- I'll deal with them.
Thanks
Chris
Well said bro!
This forum compared the Samsung Galaxy S2 forum is a lot friendlier. I used to use this Phone and I still help on Developing for this Phone
I think we are all glad to have a forum moderator. I hope we'll have nothing but positive experience.
