When I get online I'm always going to two websites first. That is, Myspace and XDA Developers. And after I explore those two sites, I never remember what other sites to visit.
But when I'm here, I exaust almost every forum like several times looking for something new or something to talk about. I get tired as I sign on here several times a day, looking at the same crap every time, just hoping there's a new version of Slide2Unlock, PocketCM or just some new stable Wizard ROM. AND I LOVE IT!!!
I just want to express my concern and my OCD over this place. I am totally unsatisfied of this experience and ask that you may CONTINUE WHAT YOU GUYS ARE DOING!!! I LOVE YOU ALL!!!

Yep same here, ever since I bought my artemis and discovered this site I need to check daily the artemis threads just to see whether something great has come out. And then there is de development and hacking thread. I just can't believe how many talented people there are on this forum. It's just amazing what some guys can make and develope!

Ye u should b able to convert her over to ppc quite easily. Just find a feature she would find useful and then there's no switcing back to a regular phone after that.

I think that it would be helpful for new folks getting started.
I voted yes, but since david made the cab to fix keyboard for wing users Im not gonna cook wing specific roms. And all my roms will be posted in Herald wm6
I have voted no. My reasoning is that the most notable difference between the two devices are minimal (the keyboard mapping) which has basically been resolved by David Duprat. Although it may be a bit more organized, I think it would be a waste since the majority of the questions are not device specific. I would hate to have to jump between forums looking for an answer that could apply to all herald like devices.
But hell I'm flexible.

Ditto.......we've obviously all found it, why do we need a new forum with duplicate info?
I think if any we should ad another section under Herald (and possibly for other devices as well) that is dedicated to new roms and kitchens. This would clean up the existing forums quite a bit.

Agreed. There's no real reason. It's just going to slow down the production of new ideas since they'll be divided between two camps. It's the same device minus the keyboard driver.

The more I think about it, the more I want to take my vote back. Add one more to no and subtract from yes.
I voted Yes, just for the sake of clarity, and organized structure.
And it spares us many questions like : ''Will this work on my Wing/Herald?" wich,

But if they don't read the heading or the post that talks about it being a herald or wing item, why would they read the forum name? j/k
Personally, I think it would be ridiculous to open a new forum... Sure, it might make things "more organized" ... but its also going to be a pain in the ass... and besides the ROM, what other DEVICE SPECIFIC questions arise? NONE what so ever.
So you're going to split everyone and basically the only thing that's going to be happening in the new forum is a topic for Ivan's roms and a topic for ttran's roms...
I say keep it together, it makes more sense. I don't want to have to jump around yet another forum when the devices are the same, except for the keyboard problem, which has a solution now.
the only pro for me is - that noobs can find things more easyly.....

I'm going with nyitalian718 and ivanmmj's opinion of adding all the known names of the Herald/Wing to the list just like in any other sub-forum.
It's not too much ask if a noob has to read some pages/stickies. All of us started like this and gain their knowledge.
At the end every major topic/problem has been dicussed at least once.
And the last thing I would recommend a new PDA owner is to void the warranty by flashing his device.
He should first get familiar with his PDA and then read the infos on this forum.
Papamopps and the core members of the Herald/Wing community did a great job on writing guides and tutorials on...let's say on everything

i need your help i just bought an HTC Diamond yesterday and i am dissapointed, the device has a number of issues 1 is that the touch flo is not smooth and there is about 3 to 5 secs lag time, second is that the battery life is crap. anyways i read on the net that an updated ROM can fix these issues, the current ROM VERSION i am using is 1.35.456.3 WWE, please let me know if there are newer ROM versions and where i can download them,p.s. will ROM upgrade actually fix the battery life issues as well as memory leak. I really hope that the touch pro doesn't have all these issues.

Has it ever occured to you that one might be in a hurry to solve a big issue, if you can't help a new comer and direct them corrctly then u should keep your comments to your self. I mean we are humans and we all make mistakes but that doesn't mean you come out and bite people's heads off. Thats the problem with the world today instead of stopping and helping u choose to be agressive and blame them, anyways i am happy to say that other more thoughtful members of this forum helped me. If you can get 1.37 to load up and apply some of the settings in the Diamond Tweaks sticky you will find things a lot better.
I would stay away from tweak number two in that thread though as most people have found it renders their handset inoperable and have to hard reset. However, as you will have to hard-reset to upgrade anyway you might want to give it a go.
I agree with you about the aggression. I understand the power of search but when you're new, a string of posts telling you to use the search, when it would have been quicker to answer the question, is unnecessary - and not really community spirited.
Sorry to flame, but in about 3 weeks, this forum has degenerated from a place of discussion to a place where noobs just ask and don't search. And thats slightly annoying.
But, I'll say no more.

And the thing is, like I said, normally I would search myself, then post a link, but when there's an actual forum called Diamond ROM Development, I couldn't be ****ed.
And you say its posts like this which have made me senior, but you're wrong.
Granted, I tell people to search, and I should probably just say nothing, but before, people have told me off for describing in detail something which can be found by a 2 word search or in the wiki.

You should put ur self in my shoes, i just purchased the diamond its expensive and its not working propoerly so i was freaking out and was trying to get help as quickly as possible, if i had time on my hand i would sit and search and go through the whole forum. There is no need to go around calling people names we are all mature here and name calling is something we all left back in junior school, by you going around the forum and calling people noobs just displays u as an unprofessional character, This forum is set up so that people everywhere can assist each other and share the knowledge, so please lets burry this hatchet and try our level best to maintain strong good community. Yes it looks great.. and the 3d touch flo looks great.
But the blo*dy thing is crap at doing what it is designed for... being a phone.
When trying to get it going after it has been sleeping it can take an age... totally unresponsive...
I need a phone to work properly and not just sit there and look shiny!
I have added the enhancements and am using the Elite 2.0 rom..

At original poster, if what I think you mean is you want to use it to call straight away after waking it up - I share your frustration. It does seem to take a while before I can get it to call out after sleeping and I've used HTC, Elite and TLR roms and it's all the same for me.
What network are you on maybe that has something to do with it - I'm T-Mob.

I am thinking of buying this phone as i'm fed up with waiting for the i900 Omnia and this thread has been usefull. Now, thanks to reading this thread I am warned about slow "wake-up" of the Diamond and now more hesitant, almost to the point of not buying it.
Sadly though, you seem to judge everyone else by your own standards.
Ericsson68 was indeed trying to be helpfull by two things:
1; confirming that he too has a slow "wake-up" e.g its not he op's phone itself
2; Offering a possible explanation "What network are you on maybe that has something to do with it - I'm T-Mob. "
No one is forcing you to read these posts and no one is forcing you to write a pointless reply. It is often said by wise people (and those with friends!), if you have nothing constructive so say, don't say it.
So Erricsson and TrevorM, thanks guys! You've highlighted to me that this phone may have an issue, even with the latest roms applied, in that its slow to wake up. This is EXACTLY the reason i'm here along with many others!

Dude listen the way i see it is that if you havent got anything useful to say or post then refrain from doing so. People are going to complain no matter what you or anyone else says. Like Monty says people have different ideas as to what is good for them and what isnt...fact of the matter is everytime i see you post...your always having a pop at someone who asks a question or slates the phone. Do you actually own HTC??...because sometimes your posts come across as a HTC fanboy...so what if people are saying the phone is useless/rubbish.
I'll say this about the Diamond, i love it but its hard work getting everything to run as you want it to. Personally HTC have alot to answer for, their QC testing is quite frankly crap and rubbish. They were in such a hurry to get this phone out...it seems like their engineers/designers fell asleep for a few months. The stock rom has too many niggles and problems with it, thankfully we have a place like this where we have some excellent guys who are making the Diamond a more enjoyable product due to their new roms. I swear if places like this didnt exist...HTC wouldnt be in business for much longer.
With regards to the OP, as i said before the phone is hard work...sometimes i struggle to do anything with it but i still love it. Perhaps try the TLR rom...its much faster and seems more smoother. AS for the sleeping issue??...it does take a few secs to get it back up and running but i can live with that...its not like it takes forever...well mine doesnt feel like that.

I see already a thousand threads about the things that the Diamond does not fulfill. If you start reading them it is amazing what people whine about! "My phone does not react instantly after waking up", "My phone does not go to vibrate when I flip ip when it rings", "my phone is not the chickmagnet HTC promised it to be, I stil do not have a girlfriend" ...
So you use the title "poor performance" and then that is your strongest statement to back this up ??? nice one mate!

Buy the phone, play with it, use it and then decide! What other people think might not always apply to you. I do not even have much issues with the battery.
If your want your phone to fly you to the bahamas then I suggest you buy yourself a plane.
This is at this moment the best phone you can buy! no doubt about it, I had the iphone for a week and then got this one. Now I only use the iphone for cutting bread on!

MisterSosa, it does have reviews of it and so what? Peoples(Owners reviews) and more importantly, there day-to-day comments and experiences are vital. Its these bug reports/issues/compliments/"wow look at this feature" posts that help some people decide and whats wrong with that? Like it or not HTC does not make perfect gear, if it did, there would be no need for this site. The bugs people discuss on here are read by the people who create ROM's and sometimes fixed by them. TBH, I wouldn't be suprised if there are HTC developers on this site everyday. I certainly know that Toshiba devs monitor myg900.com
I do agree with you 100% that people see phones diferently and whilst it works for one, it won't work for another. That said, to be "the best phone you can buy!" would take some doo'ing! My experience with HTC hardware (not software) is that this is unlikely to be the case purely on reliability, 10 months down the road it will probably develope hardware failures just like my previous 3 HTC phones (and that doesn't include the factory replacements). Also, "best" depends entirley on your needs. I'm still tempted to wait for the Omni as it will have a 5mp camera built in to it, something that doesn't seem to of sunk into HTC yet! Not to say I won't buy this, I like the form factor and the screen res (im used to 800x480 so this would only be a small downgrade).
However, I now consign myself to the fact that HTC phones only last at most a year and IF I buy this, it will be with that in mind.
This site in particular and similar sites do indeed help people choose there next phone - assuming they are informed enough to look for sites like this and even the OP's post is usefull. Read into it his frustration: Can you not see that his post is actually a complement? It says to me that the OP thinks its an awesome phone .... except this one really minor but pain in the arse thing, the wake-up delay.
Yes your right, i could buy it and then send it back if I don't like it (assuming the shop are going to allow me, they don't have to) but how many times am I going to do that before I get told to get stuffed by the shop(s)? Also, I may also not discover everything I need to about the phone in the two weeks, usualy accepted by shops here in the uk, that I need to and then i maybe stuffed with a phone I don't want.

Completely and utterly wrong...this is a forum, it may very well be a developer forum but as of yet i havent heard any of the moderators in here say that we cannot give any opinions/views on what we think of the phone.

Maybe it is useful for the DEVELOPERS to know how things are working (good or not)??
I have had any number of phones over the years - WinMo HTC, non HTC, Symbian etc. and this is the first one that I am really struggling with.
It is correct to say that it is hard work to get the equipment operating smoothly. The problem I have with that is, even after applying improved ROMS, performance enhancements, registry tweeks etc. the basic function is simply not working correctly. Why does it take so long for the phone to become ready for use?
Maybe a vanilla ROM will improve things, but then again I am left with a shiny shell which is a good phone (I may as well buy a cheap nokia!!).
I would be interested to know if other Diamond users are experiencing terrible lag, long delays and unresponsiveness..

Sorry to hear that Monty, as you can see by my signature I have owned all manor of HTC phones and i havent had to send most of them back (admittidley the C500 had to have the rocker stick repaired on mine and my girlfriends phone but I dealt with HTC direct as orange didnt want to know and HTC were very helpful and within 5 days I had the phone back)
I don't suffer from the lag that a few people in this thread are mentioning.
Ive got a WWE Touch Diamond with Rom Version 1.37.405.1 WWE, ROM Date: 06/10/08 Radio Version 1.00.25.03 and im on tmobile UK. My TouchFLO 3D version is 1.0.1630.23.
Ive NOT applied ANY tweaks to my phone at all, no registry edits, hacks or Rom updates and my phone works without lag when trying to make a phone call.
How long does your take, in secs, from when you have pressed the power button at the top to wake the phone up to when you press the Phone button (the left phone softkey?)
Where do you experience the problem? Do you find its when you use TouchFLO 3D? Or can you goto ALL PEOPLE from the PEOPLE TAB on TouchFLO 3D and its still laggy?

Only time I've see a delay in opening the phone app so far (3 weeks) was when I received a phone call AND a txt msg almost simultaneously...just as I was trying to copy/paste some info from Opera into a reply to a previous txt msg.

I have experienced growing tensions in this part of the forum for a while. People flaming each other here and there because of things that is best left ignored or easily solved. I'm not perfect but here's my way of thinking and I think this forum would thrive if all flamers would stick to it.
Be positive. Have a gentle mindset when it comes to reporting bugs/issues you might have. If someone tells you to search, try yourself, ask them for a search term or just explain what you searched for and how you could not find it. It someone asks you something, don't go hating on the person for asking a dumb question, you have the choice to either ignore or help. Flaming should not be an option. Today, someone expressed their feelings about itje's Touch IT 9.0 ROM and this has led to Touch IT being a closed ROM only availible to those who is friends with itje or those who he chooses to take part of his release group. This could have easily been avoided if certain words hade not been put into use. Please, think for a second before posting you negative answers. It has effects on other cooks and forum members.

I am very new to this forum. This is only my second post. But i have been here for 1 month now and i agree with you.
I have been on many forums that has users who uses negative answers and forgive me if i sound little harsh to itje and all others who coock ROM's. But this is the internet. There will always be someone who don't like what you or me are doing.
Sure i would also be sad if too many say they don't like what i am doing but this would aspire me to do better.
If i could coock ROM's like you in this forum could then i would do so even if someone doesn't like it.
Sorry if someone doesn't like what i'm saying but i have been on many forums where people have left because someone doesn't like what they are doing.
And i don't understand that. I'm sorry but i don't.
That's all for me. Hope itje will release his ROM's to the public again becuase i like his work.

funny that! i have been saying this all along! look at my post in the old thread 'everyone is a cooking master these days'. now there is a thread that should never have been started but which highlighted they way things have gone on here! some people who have been on here longer than others for some reason class themselves as above others and feel they have the right to make assumptions about people by their posts!. some might have seen my post in the touch-it 9 thread re the sms issue that was plaguing latest rhodium manila. if ya look you will see fards response to me posting my issues in that thread! basically he assumed that he knew about who i was by that and told me that i needed to get married etc to understand how itje felt about people posting probs over and over again. now i got offended by that cause one he doesn't know me and 2 what gives him the right to address me like that! NO ONE AND I MEAN NO ONE has the right to disrespect anyone's opinion or choice to do what they want on here within the regs. i will not stand any **** from anyone who thinks they have the right to chat to me like they know me! i try roms in fact i try all the roms posted on here just to see how they work! i hooked up wid WC because he respects me and vice versa. this place is about sharing and helping others and unfortunately we must have been like that once - a noob! remember your 1st flash and somethign went wrong! how panicky you felt and ya just posted without searching as ya may have felt ya broke ya phone etc. we all do it and thats what make us human! i respect everyone and i have no bad vibes wid anyone........... WC I love ya man. took me on face value and showed me love!

You have the right as much as anyone to get angry, but this is not what this thread is about. I am, through this thread, asking everyone to reconsider the things they have written before they post it so that we can avoid leaving cookers, hurt feelings and sold devices. Simply a request.

misunderstood mate as always! i totally agree wid what you said and was listing an example of how i have experienced what ya chat about! never angry mate as words dont bother! just dont like assumptions being made about me by what i have posted! rememba i am cool, live cool and dont stress anything!
so you are suggesting that 'cooks' have sold devices because of what people post without thinking? come on man i assume we are all mature on here and have some form of tolerance level for the things we expect to get on here be it negative or positive! in life we have take the good and bad in everything and everyone! you need to know what to ignore and what ya take on board! it is all about choice mate everything in life is about that!

To further answer, what I suggest is that fards sold his X1 for a Touch HD, if it was because he was tired of the mood in this part of the forum or not I do not know. itje has chosen to not make his ROMs public and as a result of this I read that one person was planning on selling their X1. It all has a domino effect. If it is right of these persons to react like they do is debatable, but they are entitled to their own reaction. The thing is that I don't think that people are aware of the consequences of being rude.
That is why I started this thread - so that people can avoid to piss each other off and so that we can have a helpful and productive forum.

do you think that requesting donations has some part to play with the way people post? i think that no money is free and certain people donate and expect something in return! if they don't get that then they seem to get angry and it reflects in post! i am not saying that only people who donate do that in any way. i honestly think that donations should only go to the people who started this whole xda thing and keep it running! also the people who release the kitchens as they make rom building possible! i just feel that when you take from people even if its donated there is a certain amount of pressure and expectancy that comes with that! when it is not delivered the reaction can be severe thus the recent backlash in certain threads! only my opinion!
@ your response to my question - people change their phones all the time as i get bored wid phones so quickly thats why i got so many! 2 weeks max and i need something else to play with! so if i get em all then i can use a diff one everyday! i am sure the people who suggested that they may sell their phones or who already have done are mature enough to recognize that it was not this forum or anything said in it that caused that to happen! any way i'm out! said ma peice and thats that!

What about to set some report thing that would make like a % warn except it would say % flamer and than people would wach their reputation?
Also you could click report flame/spam post and if enough people would think it is spam it would tag the user and make that post fade.... (like on thottbot http://thottbot.com/i13262 you can see the good comments are yelow and comments with rating lower than 5 arent even shown (but you can change the treshold)
Maybe a filter "do not show post from users marked flamers more than 30 times"
This is a developers forum; I'm sure there is some folks who can write a thing or two to make the forums better
Just throwing ideas here, because I belive people can't change based on one post (specialy the flamers and spammers don't), so why not a more direct approach...

I Love the roms and support the likes of (but not limited to) ITJE and fards contribute to the forum, and respect the work that they do, as such i would never flame them, everyone should have this level f respect and in return the cooks and specialist should return the favor
this is why i have suggested in the past that cooks have read only release threads, this way, found faults, fixes updates etc can be kept together. a seperate thread can then be made to discuss faults.
I dunno just rambling now and adding no value, please ignore me

I think that made perfectly good sense man Thanks for understanding what I meant with this thread.
I dont know, but flaming goes both ways in this forum or any other forum as a matter of fact.
a. A newbie comes in and asks a question, some chefs flip out and be like read the bloody first page or other works I did in a not so mild manner. True I believe that they should have read the instructions on the first page in highlighted color, but no need to come off as an asshat towards anyone.
b. a newbie flashes their rom to one of the customs, I believe that the guy who flashed their rom have no right to be like this is **** i lost some of my features. That is a serious slap in the face for the chef who put in their hard work to create this rom. Remember chefs are doing this for us for free, we are not obligated to flash ... we flash by our own accord and have to agree to some sort of disclaimer about device performance when flashed. So if you flash, and have some issues, take a look at the first page for their bugs, if not do an in thread search for the exact same problem that you are having, chances are you would find the solution.
c. This one is a classic ... someone asks a question, quickly some guys reply, do a damn search, stating comments that people are idiots or something to the sort ... basically flaming the question poster hard making it seems that the question poster wasted this amount of time or bandwidth on their part. I swear some flamers are extremely melodramatic, waiting for every chance to get off on someone and secretly high five someone in their society.
bottom line is guys, chill out take it easy. this here isnt a life or death situation, you wont die if you do a quick search on something, nor you wont die if you just help someone in a polite manner or maybe just ignore them.

that's the problem. Imho this isn't anymore a developer forum. In the last 2 year as winmobile widely spreads up (because of carriers, mode, prettier devices and so on) this has become a 50% dev and 50% leech forum. 20% of leech are going to become future devs and want to "learn", the last 30% are only noobs who wants "free lunch" and pretend to be 100% assisted to make their device cooler. I often read "sorry but I can't read 50 pages of thread..." WHAT?!?!?!?! Someone has spent dozen of hours to cook a rom or develop a program and you deserves yourself the right to don't read?!?!!?

so because someone writes this does it give anyone the right to disrespect them and talk down to them! what right has anyone on here got to talk down to anyone because of what they wrote! no one has the right end off! can you imagine your reaction if someone spoke to you in a similar fashion because of a stupid post! so called devs need to understand that because of the quality of work they produce they have amassed a following. that in its pure sense is a compliment to their work! learning to embrace whats pure and shun whats not is they key! in life there is good and bad in everything and people never remember you for the good you do in life. they only ever remember that one time ya slipped up, fuked up or didnt live up to expected standards! thats human nature and we all have done it at one time or another in our lives! ignoring the stupid posts, pm etc is the key! block dem of your messenger etc.
