Help!
Was changing the battery icon on my touch diamond and during copying a file to the windows folder, file explorer locked up.
I have managed to view the /windows folder on the mobile device using windows explorer and can see that the file I was copying did not copy fully I believe it's corrupted as it the copied file is smaller than the original.
I cannot delete the file using xp laptop windows explorer, no permissions/read only.
Nor can I access it using file explorer in phone as it keeps hanging!
Aaaargh!
Why is it the little things that cause such pain?
I feel a hard reset coming on, but will seek help here first.
Thanks
Why don't you try other file explorers that are much better than the default one in Windows Mobile?
Try Total Commander or Resco Explorer.

I have an AT&T Tilt. I am a long time BBerry user who never once tweaked a device.
I would like to install several things including the HTC home and at some point TouchFlo.
Let's use my challenge with the HTC home files. Regardless of whether I use the 1.0, 1.5 or 2.0 files I get the same result.
I copy the cab files to a folder. Browse to the folder using file explorer, click on the setup file and.....
it opens up in Internet Explorer, seems to hang for several minutes and then...nothing.
Am I literally this stupid?

Hi,
I copy the cab files to a folder. Browse to the folder using file explorer, click on the setup file and..... I assume you copied the cab files to your device?
it opens up in Internet Explorer, seems to hang for several minutes and then...nothing. I dont quite get what you mean by it opens up in Internet Explorer? Did you click on the cab file? It is not suppose to open up in IE. Please be more specific..
Cheers
Here's what I have
The folder for the HTC Home Screen has a file called _setup.xml and around 100 files.
I click on the _setup.xml file and it opens in IE. Nothing happens. There is no .cab file in the folder.

You unpacked the CAB file somehow (likely on your PC before transfering). Don't do that. Move the CAB file to your phone, not its contents. When you open a CAB file, it looks to the XML file for installation instructions. If you open the XML file, it thinks you want to read it, so it opens PIE.
So don't unpack CABs.

What do you mean you "Deleted" it. As far as i know it's not possible to delete things from the ROM. Is it???
yes i overwrote it using total commander file explorer if you could just post up a copy of your wmplayer.exe file then i could copy it back into the windows folder and then i can access windows media player again lol
Nevermind I found a cab on the internets.
I overwrote too my wmplayer.exe using total commander file explorer.
Could someone send me his wmplayer.exe ?
my e-mail is [email protected]
Thanks a lot
hmmm...errr...i think files on the ROM that have been overwritten can be recoved by just deleting the file...this will undo the overwrite and the original file from the ROM will pop back into place
Yes, you're right.
I just deleted wmplayer.exe with ActiveSync and I rebooted, and wmp came back.
Thanks a lot !

You dont want to remove the original explorer for several reasons. So either ignore it in your porgrams folder, or just remove it from your programs folder.
To do so, use resco to navigate to Windows/Start Menu/Programs and delete File Explorer.lnk
You have to change the resco explorer setting so that you can view hidden files.
I keep my File explorer in my programs menu because for some reason resco won't bluetooth files to my mac, so when i want to do that, i exit out of resco, open regular file explorer and send the files through that.
tnx a lot i appreciate your advice.. i wil foolow this step.
Windows/Start Menu/Programs and delete File Explorer.lnk
thank you mates..
whenever i try and drag files into the windows directory on the HTC Diamond Touch i get an error saying i do not have permission to place the files in that directory. how do i get around it?
I had the same, when trying to do the file operation on my PC (using windows explorer with the Diamond connected via USB). When I copied the files on the Diamond directly, using the win mobile file explorer, it worked fine.
is there anyone know how to install GAPI 1.2 into blue angel ?
you copy the gx.dll and the gx.lib from the ARM folder of your downloaded GAPI into the device's windows folder, thereby overwriting the original gx.dll.
if you are having trouble overwriting the file, because it might be in use, soft reset and try again. i also read, that devices with wm2003 or higher don't need the dll, since it is already part of the os. what do you need that for anyways?
i have already tried that way too but it still can't be copied. i need this two file to play pocket everquest.
you probably should not use the pc's explorer or the device's file explorer to try and overwrite the file, try a more advanced file manager, like total commander (PPC) or resco explorer, so maybe you can try and edit the file's properties, if it is protected, and make sure, to kill any other program running in the background, because any of those could possibly be using the file, so causing it to be protected.
