Activesync with Lotus Notes - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I'm wondering how to active sync with lotus notes?
I'm intressted in getting my calendar into my diamond, and have the contacts on the computer incase of an accident.
Any good way of making this work?

Activesync won't even sync with windows mail, only with outlook. Even under Linux it was not possible to sync anything.
I know this is not a professional answer - but I think it's a no go...

Upgrade your Lotus Notes server to version 8.0.1 and then utilise Lotus Traveler (which is included with 8.0.1) to sync mail/calendar/contacts, etc, with your phone after installing the Windows mobile Traveler Client...

Not sure what server we have at work, I'm home right now. Will check it out monday. Thanks for the tip captainsensible.

I used mNotes by Commontime for years - it's pretty good software and has been around for ages.

Will it work with lotus notes v 6.5 ?
This is the version we have at work so I guess the traveler client is out of question.

Yes it works with all versions of Notes, they have a free trial too so you can try it out.

sorry, but this is incorrect!
I regularly sync my XDA Diamond with Kontact - the KDE PIM
distribution is OpenSuse 10.3, you need "opensync" and "synce"
the installation is quite a pain and it took me some time to get it right, but it works!
the good thing about opensync is that it is a universal sync tool, once you connect, you should be able to sync with any application a plugin exists for (be it evolution, mozilla, palm, other mobile phones, syncml, ...)

hi if you want remote sync (OTA) you should use Notes Traveler, if you want local sync - you can choose Easysync pro from IBM. http://www-01.ibm.com/software/lotus/products/easysyncpro/

sync with Lotus Notes

HI,
i have a new Wizard. Former i got a MDA III with windows mobile 2003. Now i have the problem that the sync SW is not working anymore syncing with Lotus Notes. Does anyone has experinece which peace of SW does work to sync especially contacts and calendar.
greetings
Commontime mNotes
mNotes does work. It's not great but may be the best. An alternative is a link M$ provide to Outlook which is free and may work for you.
I have mNotes and it now works after I had some trouble installing it.
What else could work is the latest version of intellisync.
so long...
IBM has a sync tool called EasySync Pro. It is a bluewashed version of XTNDConnect. I believe XTNDConnect has WM5 support as the IBM version of it is being beta'd now... I'm using the IBM beta version and it seems to work well.
Another vote for mnotes. It works very well for me. Have used it with an imate jam and cingular 8125.
I use IntelliSync with Groupwise and it is pretty smooth. You might take a look at the free trial http://www.sync.com/is_desktop_main.html
What version of mNotes are you guys using?
I tried using 4.2.0 which works ok for a couple of hours but then I dont seem to be able to run mCentre, mStatus etc. I had to downgrade to 4.1 to get a more reliable solution.
Also how is the push email working out for you? Mine works flawlessly as long as the device is awake...After it is in sleep mode (i.e screen off) it can be very hit and miss. I keep finding that I need to wake the device to check my email - which kind of defeats the object!
Shamus
Sinanju is correct that XTNDConnect PC works with WM5 devices. I tried several programs but eventually settled on XTNDConnect PC to sync with Lotus Notes 7 (only calendar syncing). I had been using EasySync Pro 4.2.3 with my HP iPAQ 4155 but once I bought my MDA, I had to find a new solution.
I wish I had access to the EasySync Pro 4.2.4 beta but for now I am happy with XTNDConnect PC.
I also have to agree Mnotes is the best, a little expensive though and the 4 weeks trial period is a little short.
If, however by accident, your computer thinks it's already living in 2010 before you first install it, it lasts a little longer.

I've used XTNDConnect PC (extensively), Easysync (briefly), Intellisync (briefly) and now mNotes. If you are looking for power and flexibility, mNotes is by far the best, IMO. And... the best thing about it is that it allows you to sync to your Notes client computer over WiFi! I love that!
Dont use notes!
We have notes at work. I downloaded the Outlook connector for domino, and now i use outlook 2003 instead of notes. My Varo syncs withouth any issues to outlook.
Its not perfect - but its MUCH better than having to use notes.

I did that for a while. My issue with it was that folks in my office like to use multiple-line subjects in calendar entries. The Outlook connector will chop them off at one line and that gets sync'd back to Domino... even if you look at the calendar in Notes, the data will be gone. Unfortunately, that was a deal breaker for me.
You might want to look into Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook (DAMO)... it's an IBM product that will do what the Outlook connector will do without nearly as many limitations.

Sync with Lotus Notes for WM5
Hi
Try xtndconnect pc desktop from ianywhere.
http://www.ianywhere.com/products/xtndconnect_pc.html
Exelent
Here's another path;
I really don't like Notes so I use Outlook as my front end but everyone needs to see my calendar so what to do. I found a program called doublelook, it syncs calendar & contacts between notes & outlook & works great.
http://www.companionlink.com/
It doesnt do email so that could be an issue for some. I had created an agent to bounce my emails to a pop3 site but some IS weeny freaked out and took away my agent privilages, anyone know a hack around on this?
Another vote for Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook.
I HATE Lotus Notes. The software is so ass backwards and archaic looking it makes me nauseaus every time I have to go into it for something, but I digress....
A buddy of mine first told me about the MS Outlook Connector from Microsoft. I really liked that one as it gave you the cool translucent popups for new mail notifications in Office 2003, but after installing it I could not see all of the mail folders I had setup on the Domino server, as well as I would occasionally lose a folder or two along the way. This also happened to another co-worker. Totally unreliable and needs much work. Frankly, I think they ought to pull that connector until such time as it can be made to work correctly. (Usually I'm a huge proponent of anything MS.)
I spoke with our Domino consultant and he gave us a copy of Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook. This is a decent little program that works great. It does not require you to have Lotus Notes installed on your PC at all. Since installing it, I use Outlook exclusively. It gives you tons of functionality that the MS client doesn't, and most importantly I can see all of my mail folders. It has some shortfalls, like I can't look at some shared departmental calendars as they don't belong to a specific person.
For syncing with my Wizard though, it works like a champ and gets me out of using that dreadful Notes client.
Your IT admin may not be as receptive to the idea of you using/installing Outlook. Fortunately for me I am the IT guy and it's not an issue
i had this same problem yesterday, i downloaded Intellisync 5.5 and it works great with Lotus R6 and T-Mobile MDA

HTC TyTN II with Lotus Notes/EasySync Pro

Hello,
has anybody already succeeded to sync his Kaiser with Lotus Notes? If so, how (I think I have successfully run the application unlock and switched the device to a One-Tier Security), but EasySync keeps claiming that the device is not connected or ActiveSync is not running ... neither is correct. Thanks.
I'm using Nokia Intellisync handheld addition v6 to sync with Lotus Notes.
The only problem I have is that I sometimes have to soft reset the kaiser so it can re-connect.
Dave, thanks for the hint ... I may have to resort to that if I can't get Lotus Easysync to work. Did you have to do any type of Application Unlocking ... or id Intellisync just work? J
I use EasySync Pro V4.24 and have not had any problem with it sync'ing with my Tilt. Didn't have to do anything other than load the app on the phone. worked right out of the box.
Hmm, no, that doesn't solve it. Just installed Lotus Easysync Pro 4.2.4 and the error is the same ... 'Unable to connect to device. Verify that ActiveSync is running'.
This is how I did it:
1. Install MS Outlook 2003 (maybe 2002 will work)
2. Install Lotus Notes connector (free download from MS).
3. Connect them up and sync the 2 apps.
4. Run Outlook and sync the PPC with Outlook not Lotus.
You can always just keep Outlook running in the background all the time if you are one of those unfortunate people who doesn't think Lotus Notes is marginally worse then gouging out your eyeballs with rusty nails
Cheers,
Joe
[EDIT]You will need to upgrade to the latest version of EasySync which in compatible with WM6 - I think this is 4.2.5 or 4.2.6.
If you don't want to pay IBM approx. 50ukp for the privilege or can't get your employer to buy the license, try Googling "PDASync" which comes in a 'free' evaluation version or I paid about 30ukp for the full version.
This works fine for me!
I've been syncing Lotus Notes 8 with my kaiser using Easysync Pro 4.2.5. No issues so far.

It works straight out of the packet, and it's very easy to set up.
Ok, I downloaded a Trial version of PDASync 4.1 ... and it works right out of the box. I would still be interested to figure out why Lotus Easysync 4.2.5 is not working. Would be greatful for any additional clues. J
Just curious- have you disabled your software firewall? Had many PDA's hang on that.
I use Mnotes from commontime it works well
I just use a program called Mnotes -> http://www.commontime.com
Easysynch Pro does not work here either - something to do with mishandled Notes permissions I believe - Noyes 8 client here.
But I've cracked it here with XTND Connect - very well behaved both with my old Treo and new HTC Ty TN 11

did you enter the notes id file password in the easysync settings?
Thanks - but yes
Possibly not helped by my Notes install being a bit odd - multiple address books for example
try the visto solution...
go to preview.wirelessinbox.com
1) sign up an account
2) download the desktop assistant
3) you can sync your kaiser with lotus email, contacts and calendar over the air (aka push email with PIM functions)
i am using exchange plus a couple of other internet email accounts with this.
hotmail, gmail and yahoo mail is supported directly on the visto application on the kaiser.
Only ONE Thing is important
If you install Lotus Easysync and it installs itselves to the PDA, you're prompte if you want to install it into the Memory or onto the Card.
NEVER INSTALL IT ON THE CARD.
Otherwise you have to hard reset your PDA and re-install everything. I tried every other hack and fix and application and more and this is how it worked. Just installed it after a hard reset of the PDA and installing everything else, into the memory and it run.
No Prob using MS AS 4.5 + IBM ES PRO
Hello All,
Greetings from sunny Greece.
Downloaded Microsoft ActiveSync from MS website, installed IBM EasySync Pro v4.2.6 (on TyTn II --> device, NOT SD).
Works like a charm with Lotus Notes 7.0 (did not try 8.0 though).
Just had to provide my Lotus Notes Password.
Unable to connect to device. Verify ActiveSync is running.

Sync Google Calendar with my HTC Diamond

Ca you help me, to find stand-alone mobile software to synchronize the diamond Outlook with a Google calendar.
I am not looking for a web site solution GooSync like.
I have tested GmobileSync, but it makes me some synchronizing errors…
Any information is welcome.
Thank you in advance
Hi, i use OggSync 4.19. It is easy and dont make any errors.
So you aren't interested in using a Exchange type solution? Like https://www.nuevasync.com/. It works flawlessly and can sync your contacts too. And it's free.
It's offline right now for a database rebuild (http://nuevasync.blogspot.com/) but try it out.

I use OggSync too. Free version only syncs contacts though, the Pro version costs ~£30/year and can sync multiple calendars, even ones that have been shared with you.
It works well and you don't need a connection to a PC etc. I just wish there was a one off payment. I might look for a free alternative when my sub expires as I don't update my calendars or contacts much.

Just had a read and it only syncs one calendar. Doesn't look like it syncs contacts either, I know it's not what the OP asked for but I prefer the all-in-one solution.
I use oggsync with google calendar and its great. No errors. The pro version will allow you to sync contacts and multiple calendars.
My set up works well for me
WM Pocket outlook syncs with outlook on my home pc
google sync (official google app & free) syncs with outlook
Therefore everything gets synced !!!
second on oggsync. works great even with free version. Pro version can setup a auto-sync. you can keep it in background, and it will sync every given interval

1) Its not for Linux
2) Its paid, and i know there are solutions available which are opensource/free
ScheduleWorld
I use ScheduleWorld. It's free, and there are plugins for Lightning and WM. Google scheduleworld and sign up for a free account. Install the SyncSW plugin in Thunderbird. Install the Funambol and the compression *.cab in WM. It syncs Calendar and Address Book with no issues for me.
Hope that helps,

Just to add to eras2r's comment, as i was also going to suggest using the funambol tools as well, is that you don't have to use scheduleworld and put your data online. You can just run the funambol server locally, and use it as a focal point to sync TB and your device to.
As for a direct sync between TB and your PDA without the funambol server, i don't think there is anything else available yet for open-source/linux OSes.

Apologies to the OP - the result of skim-reading....

my only requirement is to sync the calender items in thunderbird (using lightning) to my kaiser in a linux environment....if there is no option for thunderbird, i can also try sunbird for my calendering stuff

Scheduleworld is a service on the internet. You install SyncSW in thunderbird and configure it for your ScheduleWorld account. You then install Funambol + compression cabs on your kaiser and configure it for your ScheduleWorld account. Both thunderbird and kaiser sync to ScheduleWorld over the internet, not to each other directly. It's not a local sync. (Or you can run your own Funambol Server if you'd like). Hope that helps.

Alternatively dump TBird for Evolution and install "Synce" on your linux installation.
It allows you to sync contacts and calendar info using any PIM based software to your Win CE device.
PS: Google is surprisingly helpful with this....
Info for FinchSync, opensource and you should be able to get it to work with Synce on Linux

Sync TYTN II on Linux

Hello,
Is there a way i can Sync my contacts and calendar on my TYTN II on Linux.
I use OpenSuse 11.1 and would love my contacts and calendar items on KMail.
Please do let me know if anyone has done it already.
Secondly lot of applications need ActiveSync. Is there a way of doing it on Linux?
SynCE
Ciao
The best solution for a single desktop sync is WinCE http://www.synce.org/moin/. Consider that the project is still in beta
I tried many times to figure out how to sync WinMobile with linux (evolution or thunderbird)
My personal solution is to use SyncML. I installed Funambol (www.funambol.com) server on Linux and than I'm able to sync with all the platform supporting natively SyncML or using a specific client.
The clients connected to funambol server are:
HTC tytn II - Win Moble 6.1
Motorola V3 - Java
Evolution - Centos 4.2
Thunderbird - Windows - linux
Outlook - Windows
Ciao from Italy in a sunny day
Thanks ton Ciao...

Any updates on whether this worked or not? I am running Ubuntu (Ibex) and have been looking for a way to sync my ATT Tilt II
It has not worked for me using Synce. The device is not getting recognized even after troubleshooting it.
Trying to sync with funambol now. Will update by end today.
Hi,
I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 and I'm almost fully working. I've not tried to sync my contacts yet but I can view my device from nautilus.
Add the following to your /etc/apt/apt.sources.list
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/synce/ubuntu intrepid main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/synce/ubuntu intrepid main
sudo apt-get install synce-trayicon
sudo apt-get install synce-gvfs
synce-tray is found under applications/accessories. I can view whats installed / Battery Status, but it will not create a partnership. Not tried yet to get that going.
Well it has not worked for me. Plain and simple.
I am on OpenSuSe 11.1 with KDE 4.2.
Fraginhell must be using Gnome as his desktop version because Synce-trayicon is for Gnome and not for KDE.
syncevolution, funambol and www.scheduleworld.com
Right now I am using the Funambol client to sync with the on-line calendar from Scheduleworld. The package evolutionsync syncs with Scheduleworld also.
Works like a charm. You can set your phone to sync say every hour, sync evolution with one click on an xterm command on your desktop, and view your contacts and agenda on-line where ever you are. Isn't that sweet?

not exactly what you want, but what i do is use mochasoft's ftp server on my kaiser and just connect through nautilus.
ATT HTC Tilt (8925) on Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty
I got my setup working with Evolution pretty well. I'm syncing my contacts, calendar, and Tasks using OpenSync, Synce, and the evo2-sync plugin. I'm also using the newer synce-gvfs package so you can mount and explore the mobile filesystem
I haven't go the Notes/Memos working yet. Another problem I haven't solved is getting my Birthdays and Anniversary from my address book onto my the phone calendar. I know I can just copy them to the Personal Calendar, but they wouldn't update automatically. I'm sure there's a way to use the file-sync plugin or maybe a bash script. I'll update the steps once I get that working.

Hello,
I would like to sync my TyTN II using Synce with synce-kpm in KDE4.
Internet Connection Sharing works very well, but when I connect the Kaiser to the PC in Active Sync mode, it is not recognized and no interfaces are coming up.
The only things I can read in dmesg are:
Code:
usb 8-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 8
usb 8-1: no configuration chosen from 1 choice
How can I get it recognized?
I only need to synchronize the calendar, so evolution support is not needed.
I use the synce 0.14 and opensync 0.22.
