Look for a sturdy windshield mount for GPS usage. - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo Accessories

I've found a couple online but was wondering if anyone can recommend a good set up. I'm looking for a windshield mount that will hold the Athena for GPS usage and does not bounce or shake when the vehicle is in motion.

There are a few on Ebay but the Athena is that heavy they do bounce, I have seen RAM MOUNTS in USA advertised but they look expensive! but very good

Jay

hi
dont worry, it will hold it. i use it now for a few month, as a portable soulution for different cars and trucks. its stable and holds the unit well, even when the road get worse. the only thing you have to care about is that you can only adjust it vertical not horizontal. so you have to place the unit well, because there ist no tilt to left or right.
regards mad

On SE-World.info there's a guide how to build a dockingstation Maybe in one or two months he goues into production.

well ive seen some selfmade variations but they look ugly xD
why dont the build one, i mean there is this great Holder for the car where u have a pivot function and u can even switch from horizontal to vertical etc.
this sucks :-(
I use Brodit holder, in the car as well as in my office.
Brodit have an adaptor (male/female sliding), wich let's you take out Proclip (the part that holds the PDA), from the part that sits in your car.
At the office, I have another female part, glued to a heavy glass photo holder, and slide in the Proclip suport. It works great!!!
Look for part number 213005 (2 females and 1 male), at www.brodit.com
Useful also for anyone driving more than one car.
well thats exactly what i meant. The brodit solution but actually its not the perfect solution.
hopefully they will bring out a REAL docking station soon...

Does anyone know where to get rubber plugs that fit into the Micro-B USB on the bottom of the HTC HD2?

don't think there are any, thethickness of the empty spaces beside the contacts is too slim to have rubber parts slide inside, IMO...

The company that makes the ones above are currently getting the tooling, dies, and molds together for the Micro-B plugs but they are about 3-4 months away from having their first run. I was trying to find some before I get my phone to protect against moisture/dust from the day it was removed from the box.
Thank you,
Monnie
Interesting news, thanks for the update.
Oddly enough I stumbled across this via google while looking for the same thing for my Desire. Would you mind passing me the contact details of the company? If they're selling small quantities then I'll order some when they're available.
i think topi covers has what you are looking for. they sell both mini and micro usb covers. Can't tell if its type a or b though.
google topi covers to find their website.
will this do?

This one? Its kinda universal but it looks like it would do.

Looks like its for the BB Playbook, Dell Streak and the Galaxay Tab.
Like a universal mount, given that the dimensions are in the same vicinity.

Looks very bulky, especially the back part. Samsung's original car mount is also on the large side, but considering it has built in charger, I suppose that's understandable.
I know RAM mounts are very high-quality, but I can't see something this big standing on my dashboard.
I think I'm going to make my own mount from available RAM parts. A double suction mount seems like a perfect solution and size footprint is very small - basically it's going to have a suction cup on both ends, one for the glass and other to be used straight on the tab, without any adapter. Since GT has a very smooth and large back surface I am sure it will stick to it without problems.
That might work on yours. On my AT&T tab, the back has a very small cross-hatch pattern, and isn't smooth like glass. I don't think that would work on mine.

Perfect Universal car mount.

Just though I would post a really nice mount that works well with the Note II from any carrier as well as nearly any other phone, Happen to come across this while looking for Christmas present ideas and picked one up for myself and love it so far.
It uses a nice small metal plate that you can put in the back of a case or even a smaller round one that fits perfectly between the back cover and the battery/housing then holds the phone securely without any bulky snap in annoying part. Here's an URL (since I can't post links just yet) to the page for it as well if you want one which I really recommend since its only like $30 and way better than those cheap ones you can find at Walmart or anything you would find for more.

Let me know what you guys think. Hope this helps some searching for some of you!
Here's some photos of it for a quick glance.

THis has been posted before. The problem with this is that its magnetic and will at least while in use cause your spen and compass to not work. Not sure about long term effects , but samsung warns against magnets.
Iphone SUX
I havent see it effect anything while using the gps at this point. Still trlls me where im going and where im at but ill up date if something changes.
And k.0.0.l iphones do sux but why they still post them in photos of stuff I could not say why.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
I posted this earlier in another thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1973792
It really is the best universal mount. It does NOT affect the compass because our device uses GPS. It only affects the s-pen if the magnet is close enough to the tip (probably not close enough if using a case).

DIY Phone Strap

Made this for the safe keeping of my 8T. I was using a Gordy's leather strap, but my 6mo puppy ate it. *facepalm*

You want a multistrand braid tether attachment.
Monofilament nylon fails with little or no warning.
I used 500lb nylon. Do you think that will work? I definitely want it strong, so looking for opinions here.

Obviously that's not able to hold 500#.
The problem is the monofilament, it's all or nothing. Multistrand usually shows signs of abrasion and impending failure.
Clear nylon is also UV sensitive and doesn't weather well in dry environments.
You want a tether preferably that has no metal rings or such that can scratch the phone. Most phone cases lack good attachment points or accommodate only ridiculously thin tethers. I want at least a 50# tensile strength. First time it gets snagged on something you'll know why...
The weakest link theory applies very much to tethers.
I wear BDU cargo pants so I just use a good case and the thigh pocket. This works well even with large phones and they don't drop out but are still easily accessible.
You'll need to put some thought and searching into this to find the best solution for you.
Thanks for the assist. This strap is mostly to get me through until my new Gordy's arrives. His straps are built like tanks.
