Hey xda team again,
Im looking for a dockingstation for the x1 on my desk. The only thing is it has to be in horizontal format. well, i didnt find any in the net. Does anybody know one? it doestn matter if it has USB doc, i just need something to place it opened on the desk.
Hiya,
at the moment there is no shop with a horizontal docking station
On SE-World.info there's a guide how to build a dockingstation Maybe in one or two months he goues into production.

well ive seen some selfmade variations but they look ugly xD
why dont the build one, i mean there is this great Holder for the car where u have a pivot function and u can even switch from horizontal to vertical etc.
this sucks :-(
I use Brodit holder, in the car as well as in my office.
Brodit have an adaptor (male/female sliding), wich let's you take out Proclip (the part that holds the PDA), from the part that sits in your car.
At the office, I have another female part, glued to a heavy glass photo holder, and slide in the Proclip suport. It works great!!!
Look for part number 213005 (2 females and 1 male), at www.brodit.com
Useful also for anyone driving more than one car.
well thats exactly what i meant. The brodit solution but actually its not the perfect solution.
hopefully they will bring out a REAL docking station soon...

I've found a couple online but was wondering if anyone can recommend a good set up. I'm looking for a windshield mount that will hold the Athena for GPS usage and does not bounce or shake when the vehicle is in motion.

There are a few on Ebay but the Athena is that heavy they do bounce, I have seen RAM MOUNTS in USA advertised but they look expensive! but very good

Jay

hi
dont worry, it will hold it. i use it now for a few month, as a portable soulution for different cars and trucks. its stable and holds the unit well, even when the road get worse. the only thing you have to care about is that you can only adjust it vertical not horizontal. so you have to place the unit well, because there ist no tilt to left or right.

hi, where did you get these from?
thanks!
I found an inexpensive alternative to a desktop cradle that works really well with the Incredible.
The photos below is of an old one I have had laying around, the one in the auction link below is black with grey inserts. If you search eBay, they come in different colors as well (I found blue and red as well).
It's a cell phone holder for a car (not designed for the incredible), you will need to remove the seat belts but they just pull out. It won't secure the phone but for a desktop cradle that's not needed anyway.
It works perfect for viewing videos and slideshows in landscape mode.
The only drawback I have found is that in Landscape mode the USB cable needs to have an up angle to not interfear with the way it sits (it hits the descktop).
To solve this I ordered an up angle USB Cable.

Here is a link to an eBay auction that is selling them for $8.50 with free shipping.

Here is a link for an up angle USB cable ($16.95 + 7.00 shipping) to complete the package:

Desktop man, desktop. Not floor top.
Seeing how flat and glossy that back cover is, I'm wondering if an "industrial" suction cup mount (like RAM part#: RAP-B-224-2U) would hang on to the *back of* the Samsung Galaxy Tab?? (Search gpscity.com for an example image & video... i'm not allowed to embed links yet)
I know there's all kinds of side-grip & snap-in tray style mounts out there already that should obviously work but I can't help but be curious... that RAM suction cup is so friggin strong... it would provide an easy entry into all the mix and match RAM parts I've already collected for my Samsung Q1U tablet (bicycle handlebars mainly)... and it seems like it might even yield a cleaner look than the more traditional alternatives.
Anyone have the actual hardware on hand to try this and satisfy my curiosity?
I don't know what exact model you're talking about, but I LOVE the idea! And I am quite certain you could put a suction cup straight onto the back of the tab without any problems. A double sided suction cup would be a perfect solution for car mounting...

Used this one for my HTC HD2. The Tab needs two to be held strong, but you're right its back surface keeps good suction.
I am sure it would work. I bought this small mount with stickem on the back and it works like a champ. I would think that a suction cup would be even better.

I saw a similar dock on youtube (thanks for the author), it was plain and functional.
Made mine with a little more fun.
There is a lego guy "in control" when docked.
He is really enjoying the big screen!
Have to find a magnet to try the docking feature of defy. There is room for the magnet...
If you like it, build your own and hit thanks.

I tried that too but it don´works verry good becaus the usb cable pushed the phone out of the Dock
To do this you'd have to have some curved cable I think... or the dock could be a bit higher so the cable would fit under it, but then it wouldn't be small good looking dock, but a big block dock
how to make to show only picture on dock??
Thanks a lot
I did load that wallpaper as image with the gallery to make the photos.
So I did not make any automtism there.
I try to find the wallpper and post it here as I saw there was a request for it...
The wallpaper
And here it is...
Hey guys!
My phone started having troubles with the touch (how unexpected right?)
Well, the thing is, when I was gonna remove the digitizer connector cable, I tried pulling the black plastic thing backwards instead of flipping it up.
Reason I did this was because I've repaired a few laptops and they had the type of connector were you pull the plastic thing back to release the connector.
The black plastic thing broke off in half so now I can't securely connect the digitizer anymore.
So, question is, can I get a replacement? I took one from another old HTC phone but it's not the correct one. (Lenght wise is correct, but not with the holes for the pins)
At 1:54 it shows the thing I'm talking about.
Youtube link (imbedded link didnt work)
Also attaches a printscreen of it for less hassle.

The black plastic piece that shows is the one I'm talking about!
Better view:
I don't even know the name of these parts so I don't even know what to search for. Please help me out guys.
Probably best way is to buy a new complete connector and remove the black plastic piece and fasten it onto the phones one.
Kind regards,
Tony
EDIT: Note sure if it's the same, but found this on ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/10Pcs-Clamshell-Type-Bottom-Port-6Pin-0-5mm-Pitch-FFC-FPC-Sockets-Connector-/231679255046?hash=item35f128e206:g:ry4AAOSwHnFV7Psd
Is this the same type?
Nobody?
