no gsm connection, but umts/hsdpa works - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

i've got the htc touch diamond. the problem is, that calling (active and pasive) via gsm does not work, but there are no problems when i've got umts coverage.
if there's no umts coverage, the mobile connects without any problems to the network but i can't make any calls and receive any call.
the simcard is ok, in an other mobile it works witch gsm.
if i use another gsm-only simcard with the diamond no network is found.
if already flashed it with the newest rom of the htc-website.
any ideas ?

no Phonesignal available since Update to 20070327_WM5_AKU3.3.1_LVSW_v1.24_WWE

Hello,
i got a Big problem, since i updated my trinity to 20070327_WM5_AKU3.3.1_LVSW_v1.24_WWE, my phone provider is E-plus ( Germany) and i got two sim cards, one delivered with the trinity (umts) and another gsm card. But with both i can´t get a connection to my Phone provider.
I also tried to install a rom, which has worked in the past DOPODASIA_WWE_1.23.707.6_6275_1.35.00.11_108_Ship and
HTC_WWE_1.23.405.2_103_6275_1.38.00.11_108_GPS but no success.
Only with the original rom, it will find a signal, but only for few seconds and then it disapears again, or it keeps changing from G to 3G and back, when the UMTS card is inserted.
But the connection isn´t stable.
In the meantime i tried all roms which i got, but none of the are stable.
By the way, the GSM card works fine in my other mobile Phone.
So it´s defently no problem by my provider.
Try manually disabling the 3g and using only GSM.
Thanks, it seems that this solved my problem.
But i´m wondering, it worked before with UMTS, that means that i got
3G on Top, in the past and didn´t experienced any problems.
But now not even with the original Rom without GPS, i can get a connection using 3G.
But nevertheless with GSM it works fine, i appreciate!
Try getting a 3g connection on an another phone and with the same provider because it may be a network/provider issue and nothing to do with your phone.
my other phone is a sony-ericsson k750i, so it´s not UMTS capable.
But i can try to switch back to umts later, to see if this is a provider problem.
thanks and regards

dropped calls

Does anyone have the same problems with the breeze that when you make a call it can drop it with no warning show "No service" and suddenly get it back straight away?
i have radio 1.38 installed, using a ORange UK 3G PAYG sim in a full coverage 2G area and 1-2 bars 3G area.
i have tried to set the thing to GSM only and 3G only but this doesn't solve it. has anyone......anyone out there figured a way to sort this?
or does anyone know of the possibility of getting a replacement from HTC that works?
cheers to anyone who can help
Dan
Same problem here, with Orange also, although on contract with them.
Please let me know if you find a solution. I emailed HTC, which I already know you have done, and you have had a replacement handset. This is not a good start for me
I had the best luck with my Sony Ericsson K610i. It was the best 3G Bluetooth Modem ever.. shame no Exchange ActiveSync/DirectPush
I have exactly same problem. Phone calls are dropped with no services message. And I have to restart phone at least once a week because my phone will fail to find any network. After reboot it works fine for a while. I have latest firmware with 1.38 radio. Phone is from O2 CZ.
Hi guys,
did you try to switch from 2G and 3G connection to 2G only? I assume this problem is caused by the network coverage while the Breeze is switching from 3G to 2G and vice versa. Me and some friends (Vodafone and T-Mobil) didn't discover these kind of problems.....
Cheers
Michael
Yes, I did it. But I still have to restart phone every week because phone lost signal.
I'm thinking about to flashing newer radio.
Hmm, we are using this version: "MTeoR_Upgrade_1.34.251.1_1.38.00.10_EUR_SHIP.exe" and it works well......

3g problem

hello. just wondering if someone has the same problem or any special advise. i Have a kaiser branded by vodafone, still using standart rom, and i have an issue regarding 3g. it seems that it is impossible to disconnect. the phone is using the auto functin to search for network, and has usual when he finds perfect network in 3g i have no problems at all. When 3g is not available and the phone auto switches to gsm it indicates perfect reception but i´m not able to receive or to make voice calls. i have tried the same sim card in other phones ando there is no problem when i switch to gsm only, so any sugestions?
This is something you should probably take with provider unless you want to void your waranty. If you are not bother about waranty I suggest change the firmware/radio. I use my on 3 network and on vodaphone and have had no issue like this at all. My firmware is Hyperdragon III. Hope it helps.

Using a UK HTC Touch Diamond in the US

Hi all,
I'm new to MDAs and to these forums so bear with me. I looked around quite a bit and have been unable to resolve my issue. I obtained an HTC Touch Diamond (a T-mobile Compact IV) in the UK and am trying to get it working in the US. While in the UK there were no connection issues but as soon as I got to the US the connection is unstable. I have managed to make about 10 calls in the US but they cut out after a short time and most of the time I cannot make a call or cannot connect to a network at all. It can always see Tmobile and AT&T but can rarely connect, and when connected can rarely call. I have flashed the TLR 3.08.07.16 WWE ROM and updated the radio ROM to 1.09.25.23
Any help would be greatly appreciated
from my basic knowledge of radio, uk networks use gsm while most us networks use cdma that mite be your problem!!
try going to start>settings>phone (in the personal tab)> scroll to the band tab and change ur network from auto to wcdma!! you may also have to change the band setting your using, but u may have to check with your network on what frequency they use
Thanks for the suggestion. Thus far I have only been able to connect on GSM, CDMA has never worked. I also have been using the 850 1900 band which I heard is the one used in the US. I have connected occasionally but am still having trouble.

No Incoming Calls or SMSs

i m from qatar. recently i shifted to another apartment abt 500 away frm my old apt. in here QTel(operator) is having 3g network.
normally, wen i m out i get good 3g signal but at home i get edge or gprs.
in new apt i m facing strange problem on my TYTN II. wen i enter into living room, the edge or gprs signals also get lost but phone shows good signal strength for GSM. once the data signals get lost i stop getting any calls or SMSs but i can call out.
i had original HTC WM6.1 rom downloaded from HTC having radio 1.65.17.56. i thought upgrading the Radio shud resolve the issue so i upgraded the radio by downloading new official HTC rom frm this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=439408 but i m still facing the same problem. my current radio is 1.70.19.09
guys, any solutions for this issue???
Cheer up my friend!!
Dear friend,
I live in Serbia,Europe and I have faced the same problem many times...I just wanted to tell you that your phone is perfectly fine, and work great. However it has a network problem. Network signals, especially 3G sometimes make a lot of mess and confuses the phone. If you leave your appartment and if your signal is fine and phone behaves well, then,it is obvious that your network has bad coverage in,or,around place where you live.
Cheer up my friend,HTC works like a charm.
Other Phones Work fine!!!
thnx for ur reply. i know that i looks like a network problem. thats y i disabled 3g using Bandswicth Appln. but i face same problem. also if i put the Sim in other mobiles they work fine though i don't get 3g which i really don't need. i just want all voice calls n sms to work OK
Isn't a network problem
There isn't a network problem!
I have 2 phones a HTC Diamond and a Nokia, and problems appear only at HTC (Nokia works perfectly).
Why Diamond is only affected by network problems?
