Hi,
I have a CDMA Touch from Telus Mobility in Canada.
The issue I am having is # rings with incoming calls.
I am using latest Jawbone Bluetooth headset, when I have an incoming call, I receive 2 rings and calls goes to voice mail.
I have called HTC Support and Telus support, they have no solution.
Is there a setting to modify the number of rings for incoming calls?

If you're talking about the number of rings before the voicemail kicks in, yes there is a solution if your phone number is in Alberta or BC.
I dont know what Alberta or BC is...
but on my phone i do it like this...
Start->Settings->click phone->'Services(dono if it's called this, second tab)
There is a list, in that list there should be (again, dono the english word) 'forward to'
click Get Settings...
now u can set the number of secunds before it connects the call to voicemail..
with the intervals 5,10,15,20,25,30 seconds (at least with my phone provider)
hope this helps
thanks nisse thats very helpfull.
by the way forward to is call forwarding.
Excellent!!

3 rings delay in incoming call
Hi,
This might be due to another related issue:
There is delay of 3 rings before the diamond actually starts ringing.
i.e, after the caller has heard 3 rings, only then the diamond starts ringing, and by the time you pick the call, there will be many rings and it will go to answer phone as usual.
As soon as there is an incoming call, the light starts blinking. But there is a delay in the ringer/vibrate. You can try this out by calling from another phone.
This might be cause for your issue.
I too am having the same problem, and I'm searching for a solution. Maybe some cab which fixes the 3 rings dealy in incoming call... I'm sure there must be some such cab. Still going through the threads in the forum.
Could anybody please point us to a fix if you know...
Thks,
Sandeep
I've got the same problem on my touch pro..
It's even worse actually - I'm experimenting, but it seems like half the time the phone *never rings* when wifi is on and if it's asleep...
What the???

I think that he's referring to the 3 second delay built into most phones. On earlier devices this was fixed by changing the polling time in the phone programming. (often referred to as the Slot Cycle Index). I haven't tried it on my Diamond as I haven't noticed that much of a lag.
Since I was thinking about it, I decided to try. I changed my SCI from 2 to 0.
I did look and found that I don't have that "Forward to" option in my phone settings. Probably a provider change.

I got everything working the way I want on my new Tilt. I already created a thread about email not working and I have already been helped on that one (thanks again).
Since then, I decided to use a new rom (Schaps WM6Pro Kaiser 4.21 WWE Full). I am really liking it.
First thing I noticed is that AT&T's Media NET connection was no more, it showed up as CingularGPRS. Although all the settings were right and I think I have everything setup right (data works great, SMS/MMS, incoming/outgoing email, incoming/outgoing phone calls).
But the voicemail isn't working. Phone rings about 12 times, and instead of going to vmail, the caller gets a "The cellular customer you are trying to reach is unavailable, please try your call again" message.
If I press ignore on the phone, the caller gets a busy tone.
I tried searching (really, I did) and didn't find anything.
Any ideas on how to set up voicemail?
Thanks in advance for any help.
My VM got messed up after AT&T renewed my contract and updated my account. Call customer support, I called them last night.
Voicemail is a carrier issue unless you have the wrong number set to dial your voicemail??

I would have no idea what number its supposed to dial.
But thanks for the help, I will give AT&T support a call and have them fix it.
BTW, is this something I did by messing with the phone, or was it probably not set up from the get go? i picked up the phone a few days ago and never received a voicemail and only found out today because a friend called and got that weird message so he texted me instead. Just dont want them accusing me of any
I have the same problem when ignore (red button) a incomming call.
It works good when I don't pick up, then it goes to voicemail after 30 seconds, but when I push the red button it give a busy tone...
Does someone know a sollution for this?
I have the right number in the voicemailbox settings...
When you are calling someone that has another call (Call waiting), your PPC do not show in a notification or beep that the second party is having another line.
This is available on any very basic symbian phone.
Is there a cab to fix that?
Share a solution if you have one..
This is a feature from your carrier.... Call waiting works just fime on my Kaiser

Call waiting works fine on my Kaiser as well.
The carrier here has this option.
This is not the problem though.
The problem is when you call someone up from a PPC and that party has another line.
You should get a beep or a visual notification showing that the person you are calling has another line (my call is waiting on his phone).
So, if someone has a solution for this; please share.
Ok what I think your talking about is when you call someone that is on the phone, you hear a quick beep indicating that they are on the line, correct????
If this is what you are talking about, YES it is carrier specific. For example, when I call my father on Verizon and he is on the phone with someone else, after each ring there is a small beep. This is telling me that he is on the line.
There is nothing you can do to the Tilt to change this, it is carrier specific.
True... and there are also some PBX systems that provide the ring/beep when you are the call waiting. It usually depends on the phone system of the person you're calling.

I think that is carrier specific too.. if I am calling some someone who is busy on another call, I get a completely diff to ringing tone.. Infact in most cases I get a audio message that the person I am calling is busy on another call and I should wait or call back later... Atleast thats what we have on all major carriers here in India...
ok we know that carrier has to support it, i know t-mobile does...
i used an old nokia to check and it works, it beeps and the whole screen says CALL WAITING, then it starts ringing...
i haven't seen any Windows Mobile touch screen or not that can do this
so its a carrier thing, yes t-mobile supports it.. windows mobile doesnt support it though!!!
so there is no way to make a .cab or something to fix this problem
It's not broken so how can you fix it? It's just not a feature that is offered.
it is not about the carrier. for instance when i had a nokia, when the other party was on the phone i had a beep in my phone, but with the WM devices, you cannot see that you call is waiting.
Not all the time, just occasionally. I will go to make a call and the screen says that it is dialing, then connected but there is no sound from the speaker.
It also happens occasionally with incoming calls, I see an incoming call and answer it and it says connected but no sound. A soft reset always fixes the problem.
I might have to reset once a day to fix this, but when I went to a nearby city I had to reset at least 6 times during the day.
I have searched the forum but have not been able to find another problem quite like it. Have I missed it?
Cheers,
Fred Wade

When i am using my Kaiser and i am in the middle of a conversation, and there is a incoming call i get to know about it but the caller does not get a busy tone instead he gets a normal ringing tone.
This creates confusion as the caller feels i am ignoring his call, whereas actually i am in the middle of a conversation.
How to ensure that the caller gets a phone busy tone when i am in the middle of a call?
Cheers.
Start>Settings>Personal>Phone>Services
Click on "Call Waiting" and click Get Settings , enable "Notify Me"..
Read the WIKI and STICKY for more info.
he actually asked how to let the other caller get a busy signal... he seems to be seeing the call.
to answer the question. i think you need to set it with your operator.
Sounds like you're wanting no "call waiting" at all. Best bet is to ask your cell phone company if they can either remove that feature or disable it.
I didn't see any phone settings in my Tilt that would allow the user to do so.

When i enable the call waiting notification, and i am on a call, the other caller gets a busy signal (you get to hear beeps and not the phone ring)...& i get a missed call from the caller on my phone...
That's what i thought i thought the OP wanted...
thanks reaper it is working now.
Most welcome mike...
Every time my wife calls she says she can't hear me for perhaps 2-3 seconds after I think the call has connected.. My previous phone did not do this, but the Nexus One does.
Anyone heard of this, and have any suggestions? I have Google Voice call on by default, but she's calling my cell number so I don't think it'd affect anything. As far as I can tell, the call is connected, but she can't hear me say anything for several seconds. I usually wind up going "Hello? Hello? Hello?" and she finally answers.
Glad to see I am not the only one this happens to..well not glad but i just hope this means its not just my phone.
I know when they call one of my numbers (either Google Voice or Cell Phone # not sure which) it says incoming call from <Name> press 1 to answer and press 2 to send to voicemail
@sandtiger
this is from google voice it is a filter setting you can change by going to to the setting on the google voice website.
But this is a different issue (im assuming) then the OP

Yeah, I think I muddied the waters mentioning Google Voice, but these are calls directly to me cell number..
I might try disabling Google Voice just for S&G just to see what happens.. Seems when I place calls, they're connected when I expect them to be, but the delay could be more critical when answering.
I haven't yet, but going to try calling myself from my work phone to see what kind of delay I'm hearing.
I am having this problem also...did you ever find a solution?
Using BT headset by any chance?
In that case, it's normal.
Nope, no headset. Just the phone.
I need to test some more, but I think this has gone away for me.. Delay answering, plus the other party was "dropping out" often, ie: if it got quiet on their end, their voice disappeared entirely, and sometimes faded in or out while doing so.
Only thing I've changed is I disabled Google Voice as being my default call method, but this thread is about answering calls so I doubt it matters, especially since the calls were directly to my cell number not my GV number.
I might turn GV back on the way I had it and test some more, but maybe it was something weird with AT&T?
Im noticing this problem too, both on 2.1 and 2.2.
It seems to be a problem specific to AT&T N1's.
I also experience this. I've adjusted to swiping the answer button, pausing, then saying "Hello." I typically pause about 0.75 or 1 full second, and rarely do I need to do it longer.
The opposite seems to be true of the vibrate-on-connect feature: about 1 second after the person picks up, then the phone vibrates in my hand. How is that useful?! =P
