hi,
Can someone tell me how to connect to WLAN ?
the connection disconnect every few seconds, why ?

Maybe you used wrong settings, you are (nearly) out of range or the accesspoint uses a MAC-Filter.

Use Internet Sharing via USB or Bluetooth if you laptop supports it. Works great. No need for cabs or anything. You may need Active Sync installed on your laptop (can't remember since I have it installed anyway).

what ecltech said. And YES you need activesync installed or else your pc won't realize your device and ask you to add new hardware. With activesync it updates the usb drivers to recognize that you are connecting your device and sharing its internet.
Haven't tried the Bluetooth way yes so I wouldn't have an answer for that one.

Thxs ill try it
Bluetooth works fine. When you configure the Bluetooth on your laptop use advance configuration so you can use the WAP setting. Otherwise it defaults to the modem and asks you for dial settings/etc.

using tytn II as modem in vista

Hi!
I'm having trouble using my tytn II as a modem in windows vista. I had no problems in windows xp but since i installed windows vista and use internet sharing application this is what happens:
I get connected and a new networkadapter (NDIS) is detected
I recieve a local ip-adress of 169.xxx...
This is making me crazy and i've searched the forum without beeing able to find anyone with the same problem...what am i doing wrong??
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
I understand, you use it with USB cable, may be using it with Bluetooth will be better, because in this case Windows will recognize it as a modem.
Please provide some more information about how did you make the configuration.
Did you make it as it was described in the user guide?
Hi!
I did make the configuration exactly as the manual describes it and my device is syncing correctly and everything. It even installs as a network driver when i use the internet sharing application. But it just wont give me an ip-address...
I've had this issue for over a month now and it feels like vista is blocking the service or something, but i just cant figure it out...
PLEASE advise!
I have the same Problem as you !
As a matter of fact, I have an ip but vista says that I'm connected to local network but not to the Internet.
But at the same time I have an illimited data plan that runs perfectly when using Pocket ie...
Still searching for a solution...
But i'm sure it comes from vista...
megaman
No problems!
Hi guys.
Ive used this feature with vista with no problems at all..
Just turned internet sharing on and it connected to the network connection then vista aked me what kind of network it was (Home, Work Place etc) and hey presto it worked.
Mine is a T-Mobile Vario iii btw.
Never really had a problem either though it's much too slow compared to a "real" USB-3G/HDSPA-modem. (I max out at 1.2-1.8 mbit/s but when I use my dedicated modem I easilly reach 4 mbit/s)

Yeah this is killing me! I get the same as you, i get a IP-address but its a local one 169.xxx.xxx.xxx and vista says its a local ip-address...
I've started looking for services that may be stopped and such in Vista, but i still cant get it to work
I also can't get it to work, so if my WiFi goes out and i need internet, i just reboot to XP... Obviously not a solution, it's very annoying. I'd love to figure this out. I think my friend said he got it working, i should get details from him!
-Taylor
Guys, this is not the solution, BUT, until someone finds it, this is a awesome way to get around the problem! Just install the application, start it and tap connect. Now on your computer you'll find a new adhoc network using wifi, connect to it and your ready to go!

Is it possible to use my Kaiser to connect my laptop to the internet to make browsing easier than looking at the small phone screen. If so what software/hardware do I need.

hmm ... did u search or bother reading the manual that came w/ the kaiser?
the answer is yes and ur carrier will charge extra for this ... unless u r smart and don't download 10gb of data using ur phone.

Umm....yes. It's in the owner's manual that came with your device. The program is Internet Sharing.
Hardware needed= 1xKaiser and 1xLaptop/PC
Software needed=Bluetooth on Laptop/PC
Method:
1. Enable visible bluetooth on Kaiser
2. Enable visible bluetooth on Laptop/PC
3. Go to START>PROGRAMS>INTERNET SHARING on the Kaiser and CONNECT
4. On Vista go to Network connections panel and choose Connect to PAN Buetooth network.
Should be done. Just beware of your data usage as you could run up a heck of a bill if you go crazy surfing and downloading.

I don't see why you would want to do that. A computer is way cooler then a silly xda.

When your PDA is connected to ActiveSync it gets access to the laptop's internet connection, so yes. Install ActiveSync and connect the phone. No partnership needed, guest is ok.

uh..doesn`t this defeat the purpose of unlimited data plan or are they really that bad? I pay $30 for the unlimited data plan with AT&T for 3G (even HSDPA) in my area. Heck my home DSL costs me about same and sometimes I download like tomorrow isn`t coming. lol.
Has anyone ever had a problem with this before?

i am using dutty's diamond v1 which does not have internet sharing anymore. how do i put it back?
WMWifirouter is a great app for tethering. I use it all the time and version 1.20 comes with some great features for usb/BT tethering that kick the **** out of internet sharing that comes with WM

Not to be a complete smartass, but Bluetooth is a physical hardware radio device....not software ( via an internal card or USB adapter). I only mention this in the case the original poster ( who obviously didnt open his manual or do any sort of research ) thinks he can download a piece of software to make his PC have bluetooth.
Again, not flaming or picking a fight ....... just making sure he has no confusion
Ciao

i now reached the begging point to help me with gps

hey guys
so many posts from me to ask your help for a newbie to install and set up a gps for my shift. I live in Israel, and I ask you kindly to tell me step by step guide to have a gps running on the vista side.
I really now reached the begging point, how much more humiliation do I need to show before someone can help
I am running age of beauty from thaihugo
Did you follow this?
http://www.paludour.net/GPS2BlueFAQ.html#USB
if not, tell me where you are stuck.
Otherwise, click on the gps2blue icon in the htc debug tools on wm side.
Make sure you install a gps progam on vista side. What's your choice?
Google Map
You should try google map. It's lighter and easy to use. Kindly ensure you activate HTCgps tool to connect with google map. It's easy and fast.
We will wait until the sd card available in our WM then we can use other GPS like garmin or others.
Cheers.
Don't change any settings in gps2blue. it must be com4.
on pc, the com you set is for your gps program. if you say com9, then configure igo to com 9.
gps2blue and pc side use tcp/ip to communicate. Have you established and activesync connection using usb tools before running everything?
just one more question, if i want to use the gps do i need to have access to the internet.
If yes, how can I use the GPS without internet, like I use it on my htc touch hd
thanks thaihugo

you don't need internet access. Just make sure you leave it a long time in an open area to get it's signal.
