Hey all, my wife's original Droid has had one of the pins in the USB port fall out. No charge, no PC connection. Still usable by taking the battery out to charge, though.
I was cleaning it up, unrooting to re-root when this all happened.
Now, I can't get it rooted. I allowed OTA updates (stupidly) and it's at 2.2.3.
I've tried every stock update I can find from 2.0 to 2.2 and I keep getting an error:
error in /sd/card/update.zip (Status 2)
or Status 7 sometimes as well.
So, two questions:
1. What to do about the broken USB?
and
2. How can I root it without connecting to the PC?
All apps and data are backed up through Titanium, but can't get to them.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Eric
I have the same question. Minus the broken usb of course. Ive been unable to flash back to any previous os as well.
Can we get some help?!

You can try z4root by getting it from 4shared otherwise you can try and buy a broken droid from ebay for the usb port and replace it or if you still have you warranty you can try and bring to motorola or something
USB port broken
Well, as I mentioned, I stupidly allowed it to go to 2.2.3, which means Z4 and UniversalAndroot neither one work. They stop at 2.2.1 (or .2, can't remember).
If anyone knows of a phone based root that works for 2.2.3, PLEASE let me know!
And just a reminder, no USB port means I can't use Super1Click or SBF.
Also, we only have about 2 months to upgrade and can't really see buying something right now if we can get this to work.
Thanks for your help!

Hey guys. I recently made a USB otg cable and I have TRR 1.5 ICS rom. when I plug it in Clock selection dialogs pops up. question is Which Rom and kernal paired... would run the USB otg host mode???
I'll appreciate for the help...
AFAIK many had tried to get it going on various ICS Roms, and no-one succeeded. Do let us know if you manage to connect it.
Sure dude... But its the ICS kernal which doesnt have OTG support right... ???
Galaxy note
Yeah, it seems so.
hey guys,
First I think I dont need to open a new thread for my question. So asking it here.Has anyone managed to connect another android phone as host to your note?I tried with my old nokia 2700 and it works and when I tried to connect my sgs it didnt but it charges in ac mode.So anyone tried to connect your android phone to your Gnote?
hi i received a i9000t, that is in 2.1 and i need to update to 2.3.3, but the tricky parts is that usb doesn't work and it does not have 3 key combo, so it doesn't go to recovery or download, what is odd is that as well as a i9100 water damaged i received, both phones have a clean and well soldered usb conector, but always usb not recognized, but if i use a uart conection like an unlocking box with a rj45 cable it reads phone info, but that is no good to flash or anything.(just to let this info know).
but my question is can i, or should i try to update through cwm, already rooted it with z4root, i would like an official 2.3.3, but i think not possible, only modified rom, as well mobile odin doesn't support 't' version of i9000, so what should or can do?
thank you very much indeed for help or guide

Have you installed the Samsung drivers on your computer?
Edit, my bad, didn't see you can't get in download mode
Maybe this would help you:

If you are more technical you could try this:

Hi all, before you starting kicking my ass, ive tried to search through this forum and couldnt find related issues. I just replaced my USB port and just discovered i can charge but cant get a usb connection with my computer or any other (i was able to do that previously). I also tried different cables all to no avail. Anyone know how to fix this? or is there any other way to flash custom & stock roms without connecting my device to the computer? thanks in advance.
did you replace the port yourself or from a service center?
For installing custom roms, you dont need a pc.. you need to use the CWM recovery. For stock roms, you can use mobile odin to flash rom direclty from phone.

no, i gave it to some dude who claims he could do it. will try the other method you mentioned.. just think i might need another replacement.. thanks for your help.
These issues can happen if the replacement part is not genuine.
Here is the fix.
buy the usb port from these 2 sources in ebay.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/271148163771...84.m1497.l2649

Get the cheaper of the 2 and make sure your original usb port was rev 1.0. These 2 sellers are the only ones who sell genuine n7000 usb ports. I had bought like 6 ports from other sellers and all were imitation ports and non of them worked properly. These 2 sellers are the only ones I have found who sell the original usb ports. Note: these ports are rev 1.0 (revision 1). So make sure you had revision 1.0 on the original port.
I ordered ports from both sellers and both usb ports were exactly like my original one and worked like a charm.
I had my family borrow my tablet and they accidentally deleted my os from it. I can still access Download Mode and TWRP, however it suffers from the red X on the battery issue. No usb cable can make this tablet work with odin. I have installed the official samsung drivers and I'm hoping someone could make a stock T817T zip I can flash via TWRP. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
I don't think there is a twrp flashable marshmallow rom for 817t.
Is it possible that you just have to charge the tablet a bit more from wall charger before connecting to odin?
After contacting samsung, it's apparently a manufacturer's defect. I was out of warranty but they happily replaced it free of charge. Thanks for help regardless
