Is it just me or is that really high? Or is that just what they go for over there? (I paid not even half that amount for mine)
Plus if someone is reading the Kaiser forum isn't it safe to assume they already have a Kaiser?

Brand new TyTN II's retail for around £450! I paid £460 for mine in Feb, then the price jumped to around £500 now its back to £450. The Touch Pro I want to upgrade to costs £500 at the moment.
I see you are a smart Alec but do you realise many people check this forum for info before they buy their devices just like I did and there are also many people with broken Kaisers that may want a replacement. I find your comments a bit uninformed for a senior member.

Honestly that is a little pricy! check gumtree to have an idea of price (just an idea) some may be fake, but i think its just a little over the top..#

Seriously man, you got ripped off.
That is not what they cost.
I did a little price checking and I couldn't find any online that are close to that expensive.
You can buy them brand new for cheaper than you are selling yours used for.
And yes, of course, there will be a couple people here that might possibly be interested in buying a Kaiser, buy the fact is that percentage of the total users here will be very small, and you will have more luck posting almost anywhere else.

Well I must admit the price is in the top for a used Tytn II... However saying that £300 is a price that is more than a new Tytn II just isn't true!
In Denmark the TYTN II costed about £ 520 when it was released around a year ago...
Now I'm not sure if you guys that say the price is to high have thought about that the £300 is without any contract? And saying that I actually find it very strange that many people in here buy their phone cheap but commits them selves to an expensive contract for 2 years knowing many of you will look after a new phonemodel after 6 months... ;-)
I would like to know what the total price is for a £150 TYTN II after the contract is over? If it's under the £300 then you're right the price is to high - if not then it must be ok... (saying that though the price for a used TYTN II is about £200 - £300 depending about the quality and extra stuff)

For reference my used Kaiser cost me $190USD which is about £120. So less than half of what you are asking.
£300 is over $600CAD. Yes I absolutely CAN buy a NEW Kaiser for less than that (no contract)
Maybe the pricing is different in the stores over there, but online that is what they go for.

In the UK, a Kaiser brand new offline definately costs £350 plus. If you buy off ebay they will around £200 depending on condition and if you buy/upgrade with a 12 month contract you can get it free but it may be a Vario3 etc.
So £300 is at the top end but depending on condition you might be able to sell for close to that on ebay. Especially if it is non branded and sim unlocked and includes your satnav software.

Maybe you checked some online stores in Kabul but if you look at the reputable and hTc recommeded sites I have listed below you will find out the cheapest one costs £435.

Got a new from ebay for £299 about a year ago. Lost it in a taxi last week, got another new one from ebay for £217 a couple of days ago. You can get a new touch pro for around £400 on ebay now.

Hey m8 dont wana ruin ur chances of selling but im from east london as well and bought a tytn2 off a mate for just under 150. writing this on it now and it also isnt scratched etc.
300 is high imho 200 is a reasonable amount maybe pushing 250 with ur co pilot stuff

I think that the OP understands the opinions on prices, but this is not a set market, and he can choose to sell it at what ever HE feels is fair.
so lets quit with the thread crapping.

No one was hating, I was just asking if that was really what they go for over there. Apparently it is. But then again I have sold phones for well over market value a few times as well.
$580USD for a used one is crazy. You should buy them from over here and sell them there you would make a killing. You could easily make $200-$300 profit on each one.

Indeed, European prices are ripoffs... Here a new Kaiser at retail price without contract is still $900 now! You can go down to about $450 with a 2-year contract.
However it's interesting to see that the used market prices are very low, no way you'd sell one at the price the OP sold it for, they usually go for under $400.
There are already concurrent offers (some guy sells refurbished/as new ones for about $280 with 1GB card and in large quantities...) or people get them off ebay.

This thread is madness!
I don't know anyone that would pay 300 quid for a used Kaiser.
I got mine over a year ago (the week they were released in the UK) free from T-mobile!
They were selling it then for 350 without contract!
You must have found a complete muppet to pay that much, good on you!
Seriously, just have a look on ebay right now - the most expensive one (out of 53) is 230 pounds!

300 euros for used?
kaiser can be easily found new for less than 400$ (~277euro)

[Q] Contracted Galaxy Note UK

Had anyone ordered a Note with one of the major UK companies? I'm waiting to see if Orange will be getting it, no one seems to have heard of it in Customer Services. And there's no info with O2 , Vodafone or T-Mobile.
Any info greatly appreciated,

Clove will have stock Thursday 11/3. Unlocked mobile will send its second shipment early next week. First shipment sold out and sent 10/28.
Have a look here - http://www.onecompare.com/phone/samsung/galaxynote/monthly-contract
Higher up front cost and lower monthly here - http://www.onecompare.com/phone?hs=...=30&contract=&gift=&extra=1&cashback=&sortby=
The Note has only been announced as being available on O2 in the UK so far based on Samsung's London event last week, the launch date was originally due to be tomorrow but has been moved to 03/11, however this device is not showing on the o2 coming soon page. It is however showing on internal stock checking system with no release date..
Phones4U only have Orange on their website, however it has a deliver date of 23 Nov...
I'd love to hear about contract versions of this phone and when all of the information will be released. It seems strange that with the phone's imminent release that none of the stores appear to have any information and all of the company websites don't appear to be showing any dates.
For such a powerful/expensive/flagship handset the PR and marketing for the masses is terrible in the UK. No store is advertising it at all :/
yeah i've been to high st shops today in London. carphonewarehouse , phone4u , o2 , vodafone but non of them know what galaxy note is ,,, lol oh well,
ps. on carphonewarehouse website the galaxy note is on comingsoon page.
I've met samsung representative on 25 Oct (Friday) in Carephone warehouse with galaxy note in his hands.
When I asked him about availability he told me that it's going to be in on Monday 28th Oct, which didn't seem right. Been there again today and they still are waiting for the stock.
Hopefully it'll be in on Thursday so I'll finally judge whether to pull the trigger and take it.
I'm waiting to see if the GNote will be made available on the 3 network, to make the most of the "all you can eat" data plans.
I'll wait until I see it in the flesh too - having read some of the posts on here, I would imagine Shaq would struggle to hold it!

It's a shame that the only options for "real" unlimited data plan is either 3 network or giffgaff (you'll need o2 locked or unlocked phone for this one tho) :/.
It's so easy to exceed more than 1 GB bandwidth, especially with downloading apps, wallpapers or watch some videos on youtube.
on buymobilephones.net can preorder contract Expected on 19/11/2011 , on vodafone, Tmobile ,orange and o2 network.

Thankyou for all the info guys. Really hoping it turns up on Orange so as I could upgrade soon, I've delayed that option for a couple of months in hope of a larger screen device.
Once again, thanks

Shame is so expensive! You can usually pick up high end phones for free on £25 a month I'll have to pay £100 upfront and £31 p/m to get this!

This is at the top end of high end phones and is brand new with limited stock at the moment. SIM free in the UK it is at least £540 unless you look to import it from abroad. Whichever way you cut it to have this phone and airtime is going to cost.
£100 + £31 x 24 = £844.
You must be getting a lot of minutes/texts/data for that price. There are contract deals for a hair over £700 over two years, but that's £210 up front and then ~£20 per month. If I wanted a contract that's the way I'd go, but instead I've bought SIM free from amazon.de (£486 for the phone) and will be using giffgaff to run the phone. Worst case for me is that I pay £10 per month to giffgaff for a goody bag, but in practice I don't need much mobile data and can get by with even less cost by paying as I go. It's also worth considering buying SIM free and then looking at 12 month SIM only contracts, which can net out to around £8 per month with cash back. Check out http://www.hotukdeals.com/mobiles/deals/hot to seek out some good offers. Example - http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/t-mobile-300-minutes-300-texts-choose-your-booster-1050776
My last branded phone (Orange San Francisco) was so riddled with network operator crud that it had to be rooted and modded to remove the toot. Orange have never released a ROM upgrade for it in over 12 months so I'd still be stuck on 2.1 Eclair if I'd played by their rules. Now I'm running CM7 on it and all is good. It would need to be a persuasive contract deal to make me want to put up with that crap ever again.
For anyone wanting to go the contract route you can use cash back websites to take a little of the sting out of the deal. I use TopCashBack and Quidco. Probable savings are a minimum of £30 and possibly over £100, although the cash back is not guaranteed.
Just to elaborate on the last post...
Amazon.de is cheap... £470 for the note...
Since my T-Mobile contract is up...my £15mnth contract can go down to £9 automatically...if I haggle..then much less.
£9 x 24 (New Galaxy Contracts are 24mnths) = £216
+
£470 for the phone
= £686
Most retailers in the UK are selling the Note for £570-650 so £686 with a contract is a bargain. So it is better to buy the phone sim free and find a cheap contract.
The Note contracts are £35 minimum for 24 months plus they make you pay for the phone. 35 x 24 = £840 !! plus £30-£120 for the phone = EXPENSIVE..
Thing is will there be a difference between the German (EU) version and the UK version in terms of the look/feel of the software and the updates?

^ Seems like a decent contract to me (suits my needs...) 24 * 25.54 = £612.96 + £129.99 for phone = £742.95 .. £56.95 for expensive but it saves me £470 upfront costs... but I will ring the T-Mobile upgrade number to haggle...I don't want to pay for the phone...

What about this one - 18 * 25.54 = £459.72, plus £179.99 for the phone = £639.71
That's pretty good... only downside is its 300 / 300 ... I can live with that... but in case you do ever need to use more the charges will rack up.
Right now for £9.32 a month I get 600mins, 500 texts, Unlimited Internet (1GB) , Unlimited Landline Booster... Usual cost of this contract excluding landline booster is £25+ ... and they only give you 500mb instead of the 1gb I currently enjoy.
so it works out better for me to buy the note sim free from Germany.
May be when O2 / carphone warehouse etc reveal there tariffs we will have a better idea of what to do.

My phone depreciated in value more quickly than my computer.

I remember back when I sold my N95 after two years of ownership I got about 60% of the purchase price back.
I bought my HTC HD2 T9193 for about $550 a little over a year ago. You could say the more generic T8585 (int'l version) went for maybe $450. I'd probably be hard pressed to get more than $200 for it now even if it were in immaculate condition. That's 36% of what I paid after just a little over a year, or 44% if you consider it tantamount to the more common variant.
I have an Intel Core 2 Quad system that I built for around $600 total. Parting it out, I made about $400 back after over two years of ownership. That's 66% of what I paid.
My i7-920 was purchased at launch for $290 and change. I got $150 for it pretty easily -- still over 50% over three years later.
I guess what I'm rambling about is that mobile phones are moving really fast technologically. The competition is great and it's awesome to see yesterday's high-end become stupidly affordable now for pretty much anyone.
It seems the only smartphones that hold their value nowadays are iPhones, and that's only until the next incremental generation is announced. Once 1280x800 phones become the norm even the venerable Samsung Galaxy S II will probably be worth chump change.
I'm never going to pay more than $300 for a new smartphone (unsubsidized and contract-free).
Welcome to the phone world

I've had my captivate almost a year now.
It is probably worth half of what it was then.
Doesn't really bother me at all honestly.. I wanted to get the best tech I could and the atrix was still unreviewed.. so I got the best I could and have no regrets.
I wanted something that had great organizational abilities and to be able to play a few games.
Couldn't be happier still with ics rom running oses that aren't even released yet.
The rat race is for rats who can't research a device, and then be happy with it.
I made sure there was great 3rd party dev support upfront and I couldn't be more pleased.
a $600 phone worth less than $300 after only 8 months
welcome to the android world
Value is subjective. It only becomes an issue when market forces are called into play. For instance, my car is worth more to me than it is in the market. If i crashed it, my £2000 car would get back £1000 from Insurance, and an equal replacement would cost me £3000.
A new car will lose 80% of it's 'value' after a 20% of it's useful life.
If you want value for money you buy old, and keep it until it's dead. Early adopters get the worst economy, whether tech or cars.
Dirk posted some words of truth that are pretty priceless.
Another great option is to buy "recertified" type things.
I got an "open box" set of headphones that came with manufacturer warranty. MSRP was 360$. Average price new was roughly 260$.
I found them for 170$.
Always pays to do some research and find out what your options are.. sometimes you can get it "new" almost half off if you read the fine print of "open box."
Early adopters always get screwed though.. not just in cost.. Highest chance of malfunction ect ect.
Also.. especially in the phone world.. a lot of "upgrades" are really more flash than substance. Something else to keep in mind is that computers are stationary.. less likely to be dropped and whatever else.
Damn you Dirk! I was gonna do a car analogy.
Guess I'm stuck with this point instead.
The HD2 was, and still is, a MASSIVELY popular device. That has a huge effect on the market as everyone's 18 or 24 month contracts have come to an end so ebay is flooded with the things. You stick a "buy it now" price that you think is fair and you get some rich arse who doesn't give a toss and starts bidding at 1p, with no reserve. You can't compete with that.
This is just one of the many reasons why your phone was worth diddly-squat. I bought a HD2 on the UK release date for just under £500. I sold it 18 months later for £200 to a guy that made me feel like I'd just pimped my daughter when he asked me "So what's this Android software that's on it?"
There's plenty of other reasons, but this is one. Sad but true.
Edit: Incidentally, the guy I sold my HD2 to was holding an iPhone when he answered the door. I didn't just pimp my daughter out. I pimped her out to a serial killer.

Is Best Buy (US) getting this?

Title says it all. I'm following this thread, no one from BBY US is answering, which is strange. Even more strange that BBY Canada was taking pre-orders, but no one at BBY US is saying a word about it.... I've got $100 worth of rewards certs to use, would like to take home a $100 Nexus 7 someday!
Any insight on this from all the Nexus nuts here?
Probably because US BBY can't charge $100 extra for N7s. Seriously, I haven't shopped BBY for years. There is simply no point shopping there. Obviously most ppl agree and BBY sees great profit loss and laid off huge amount of employees recently.
I find their service in local stores to be great and prefer getting tablets and phones from them due to 30 day return and no hastles.

I got a 4:3 ratio dvd given to me for Christmas that was bought from BB online. I went to the store because they had both versions to trade it for a widescreen copy. They told me I have to give the gift back and have them return it online and get the copy I wanted.
I went next door to CompUSA(been a few years lol) and they swapped it out even after telling them the story. That was the last time I went to BB to buy anything.
Best Buy isn't that bad guys, nor is it really the point of this thread.... I'm a former CompUSA employee and think BBY has the upper hand, if you don't agree, you like rooting for the underdog more often than not! Anyways, I have a Silver Rewards account and $100 worth of certs to use on a device that BBY will price match "anyone, anywhere," so what's not to like about that? The best CompUSA would do is knock $50 off the SGSIII for me, I had $50 worth of certs at BBY and $50 off for their Phone Freedom promotion made a $200 phone cost $50 after doing the same price matching as CompUSA could, so which company would you have bought from? What's the return policy at CompUSA compared to BBY's Silver Rewards? Only 30 days vs 60 means at 59 days, I get a brand new device just for kicks.....

I am also a former CompUSA employee. It was a much better company than BB was.
On topic:
I have no idea. lol
I talked to few people at best buy tonight and they said that it will a while before they get it. The reason is because they haven't got a agreement yet with Google to sell it but they will be selling it soon hopefully.

I'm hoping BBY US carries it, I have about $100 in gift cards I need to burn.

Nexus 5 - Best Buy Price Match - Share your story!

New Nexus 5 owner here. I was a Nexus 4 owner until yesterday. I sold the N4 (8GB) to my co-worker for $200.
Well... I went yesterday to my local Best Buy (Laredo, TX) and went to the Mobile section and this (pretty) lady was at the desk. I told her that I wanted to get a Nexus 5 without a contract, cash. She took the keys and opened a drawer behind her and took the N5. I asked her for the price and she told me it was $450. So, I opened the browser on my phone and searched the N5 on the Google Play Store and told her that Google was selling the phone for $350 and if it would be possible for them to price match the phone. She told me that it was possible. She took my N4 and verified the information. She called the manager (a rocker-tattooed kinda guy) and he authorized the price match. They have to put the store to be matched as Other.
Success!
My recommendations. Be polite. Just act casual and don't be nervous.

Yes, they do match prices of other online stores, but the list of the stores they match is limited. The Google Play Store is not included, so, this is why the price match of the Nexus 5 is YMMV.
From Best Buy:
"Amazon.com, Apple.com, Bhphotovideo.com, Crutchfield.com, Dell.com, Frys.com, hhgregg.com, HP.com, HomeDepot.com, Lowes.com, Newegg.com, OfficeDepot.com, OfficeMax.com, Rakuten.com Shopping, Sears.com, Staples.com, Target.com, TigerDirect.com and Walmart.com. We will match prices between our stores and BestBuy.com®. We will also match prices post purchase if we lower our price within 15 days of your purchase."

Try to flirt or something with the BB employee. I think I did that inadvertently.
Worked for me in Madison Heights, MI Best Buy. Picked up a 16GB Black and sold my 32GB black I had purchased from the PlayStore. I did not need the extra space as I still have 10gb free on my 16gb.
Comes with a Sprint SIM in the phone but no SIM tool, so just used a pin, popped it open and put my AT&T SIM in and have been using it since.
$370.99 out the door after MI 6% tax.

Nice.
When did you get it? I got it yesterday at 7:00 p.m. approximately.
If you can price match the phone at Best Buy, it is a way better deal than getting it from the Play Store. You don't have to pay shipping and you don't have to wait!
Back on November 20th, I believe (receipt is at home) . I had to stay late for an evening meeting and stopped by BB after reading some posts about people PM to BB on another forum. Took all of 3 minutes or so. Manager came over to authorize the $100 price match to online price with no questions.

Its always a gamble......HaHa, see what I did there?
I got Best Buy to price match the day it came out. They didn't really give me any issues. Yes, there is a list of sites they price match, but if it is a reputable site, they don't really care. I also had a $100 BB gift card for switching my electric company, and I sold my N4 for $200. My out of pocket cost was like $70 after taxes..

Now that's a good deal. Hopefully N5 retains a good resale value in a year or 2 as well.

Got a second one for my girlfriend (secret Christmas present) today, price matched at the same store.
Not nexus 5 related, but last year I was able to buy to S3s for 2¢ using price match off an Amazon deal...

Not that awesome, lol. But I did go with sprint and just recently cancelled. They waived my etf by returning the phone, which was a cracked screen disaster. So it was sorta like contract free...:victory:

I'd go in person and say the same thing. When the sales associate won't listen, ask to talk to the manager. Say the same thing to him. When he won't listen, bring up the Play Store, and go to technical specs. At the same time, go to Best Buy's site or Sprint's site and go to technical specs (whichever will show the ACTUAL specs; BB's site doesn't seem to go into too much detail). Then just Google "Nexus 5 versions" or "Can unlocked Nexus 5 be used on Sprint?" and show the results. Basically show them that everyone knows that the devices are identical except them.
Of course, showing them that is no guarantee that they'll honor the price match. As this whole thread states, YMMV when it comes to them price matching.

Note 4 - UK - £599 - 03/10/2014

It seems that you can now pre-order this phone SIM free from Unlocked Mobiles for a 3rd October delivery, which is sooner than what some are expecting.
I am not aloud to post links on this forum yet it would seem, so go to Unlocked-Mobiles dot co dot uk and then select the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in the Model drop down box at the top of the page.
Seems exspensive, about 1000 USD after tax or 750 EUR.

They listed it right after the announcement so I suspect both the price and the release date are subject to change.

Media Markt / Saturn in Germany - can be ordered now for 700 €. In stock on November 1st.
Still too expensive. I counted up to 650 at most.
Price will drop a bit till then. 650 still a lot (for not-iPleople )
I paid £630 for my Note 3 on release last year... 5 weeks later people were picking it up for £580 or so, price will drop it always does.. I'm toying with it.. Not a major Samsung lover these days though. So will be a tough decision.
I found some prognosis of the price searcher. It says Note 4 will drop significantly in first 3 months, like previous ones:

Yeah it will be 40% cheaper after Xmas.
After my N3 experience I am reluctant to spent that kind of money again on Samsung.
N4 is only worth £350-400 at most.

Well UK Samsung store availability is 9th October only if you pre order.
850 euros in France
First shops are showing a price of 850 euros. Doubt that a lot of people will pay that price. Samsung is playing the game of Apple!
Should be around 600 euros to be a success. Note 4 does not bring enough plus compare to Note 3 and has lost USB 3 which does not make sense to me! That was of a big help mainly with huge SD Card it can support and huge video files you can capture...
I predict the price will drop faster this year thanks to the iphone 6 plus

This is all very conflicting. The UK launch is set for the 10th of October, I know that the Experience Stores often do a special opening the day before which ties in obviously with the 9th but this information along with pre-ordering isn't anywhere on their websites. at £599 it appears to be more expensive than many other price quotes too.

£629 same price as Note 3 at launch last year. If you want it cheaper wait 3 months.

I am talking about the OP quoting a £599 price. Where did you get your £629 price from? I realise waiting 3 months will be cheaper obviously! But Clove Technology for example, are quoting a £575 price Inc VAT which again is all conflicting.

£629 is the price you need to pay from the Samsung UK Experience stores when you go to preorder in store.

I also noticed that only the Samsung pre-order allows purchase of the gold/bronze version (the one I ordered). Other sites such as Clove and Amazon Germany only offer the black/grey and white options.
I still find it bizarre that the price of the Note drops everywhere but Canada after launch. The Note 3 has stayed at $750 since launch here. Good for early adopters at least.

Thanks. That makes it clearer. Though why Samsung can't offer better deals to pre-orders I don't know. I think it might be better to wait a few days and save a lot of money.
Good to see you by the way, it was all about the K Zoom I believe last time we spoke??
