tool to delete just cache - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It would be great to have a tool that deletes just the cache of the browser and not everything like cache cookies and browsing history.

There is....
Open the browser, press Menu, then tap on More, go all the way down to Settings, and then choose Clear Cache.
You'll see there's also a Clear History, and Clear all cookie data that are separate.

use better cut lets try to find make your own shortcuts

thats a DUH answer how about getting bettercut and go to ''make your own''
fill in the Action Data and type areas with the correct data now if only we could learn how to use bettercut
Is there a link to bettercut shortcuts or such now that would be helpful..............

[Q] Option to delete browser download history in froyo?

Guys, I'm sure there used to be an option in eclair to clear browser download history. I can only see cancel all downloads in froyo?
Apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere, I did try searching first :-/
I don't know if this is the only way, but it's all I'm seeing at the moment. Open settings, applications, manage applications, all, download manager, clear data.

Thanks for the reply, tried it & unfortunately no joy; download history still there
In browser, click menu> more> settings> clear cache, date, cookies, passwords, etc, is about halfway down (you have to scroll).
I would also close the browsers windows (in browser, click menu> windows, then x each of the windows)
For downloads, click menu> more> downloads, then longpress each file...

[Q] HELP! clearing search history in Maps App

I searched some places on the Maps app that pop up pretty quick in search history as you search for new places. I would rather these places not be shown to the wife when she uses my phone. I cannot figure out how to clear the search history. The places do not show up in my google map history...only in the phone. Can anyone point me to where that is stored so maybe I can delete the file?
Go into recovery and clear data?

Hahahaha looking up porn shops and "massage parlors" for a happy ending? Girlfriend's address/date locations?
lol jk
try to clear google search data maybe?
I tried the google thing...I cleared everything there...but it still shows up on phone. Where do I find recovery?
Menu> Settings > Applications> Manage Applications> All> Maps> "clear cache" and "clear data"
That should do it.

Yes I tried that as well. The first time I went there Maps was not even an option as a running program. I then installed an update and its there. But I have since cleared the cache...there is no option to clear data...only to uninstall updates...history still shows.
There must be a file this is written to that I could delete.
Titanium Backup Pro> Backup/Restore> Maps (Short tap it) > "Wipe data"
Maybe that will work for ya.
edit: Installed Google Maps from the Market, did a quick city search, it saved it to the history, then I did what i outlined above and ... Success.

Lg optimus black default browser cookies still not enabled

In my default browser settings, I already checked "Enable Cookies" but when I'm trying to log in in one of social networking site, it says my "Cookies are not enabled". How can I figure this one out?
Normally cookies are enabled by default...
So maybe you could clear data and cache in Settings -> Applications.
But beware! You will lose all your history, bookmarks, AND cookies during the process.
It SHOULD work after clearing the data and cache
Try clearing cache first and test, if still no good, clear the data.

Thank you! But sadly that doesn't work. Now it shows a dialog box when I'm loggin in, which says "Data Connectivity Problem: A secure connection could not be established." I don't know where to configure that allows the browser to proceed even if it's not secured.
mmm normally it writes this when their is no internet...
Just questions:
Are you using the default browser?
On which rom are you?

Yes. I'm using the default browser. I don't know what rom I have, my android version is Froyo.
I'm actually using a promo from my network carrier which gives me a free access to one of social sites using my old phone ( Nokia C3 ). And I'm using it for years. So I copied the link from my old phone to my LG phone and now, it doesn't work for my LG. so that's my problem. That issue above occurs.

How to delete watch faces

Hi all
I have installed the planets watch face, so I know how to do that but how do you delete it entirely from your watch?
Anyone? Is there a way to unistall 3rd party watch faces?
It should work like this: You only need to delete the application on the phone, the "companion" wear app gets deleted after a while.
Reality check: I had to do hard reset once when the apps were "stuck" and nothing new got installed and nothing deleted got uninstalled, this happened only once, though...

I'm not sure what you mean mate?
On the phone, open Android Ware and delete the face you want. It then automatically is deleted from the watch. There may be some delay so be patient.

That's the bit I'm stuck on how do you delete the watch face in Android wear?
If I click on watch face I have 3 options, show on watch, settings or hide on watch
Sorry, my error... You have to uninstall them as a usual app (if it's a custom face): forced stop - > delete data - > uninstall. The standard faces cannot be deleted.

Thanks for your time on this, where is force stop etc? I'm new to this
Well I'm a bit paranoid when I uninstall stuff. Go in to the phone setup, choose Application Management (I don't know the right terms as my phone is French). You will see all the applications you have installed. When you click on one, the details will show and you will find top left Forced Stop, center right Delete Data & Cache and top right Uninstall.

Have your cleared data on Chrome? Probably a website that's done it.
Delete cookies etc. I've never once had this happen to me in all my time since the inception of android, so not sure what you're doing but might want to change habits.
I'll try that now. It behaves like an app has opened it up and directed to that page.
Cleared data & cache for Chrome, has made no difference. I'm pretty convinced it's an app, but don't know how to find it

Ok so your app list may be needed, let's have a list please? Then we can help.
If you've an infection, chances are you should know what caused it. If you don't then you may be a little gun ho with your apps / cracks.
If that's the case then it could be absolutely riddled with malware.
At least : To be safe, scan it with something and see what comes up.
Best case :
Factory wipe, only back up docs / pics / vids / music.
No titanium restores, no restored of images from Google..
Check recovery of you're accounts make sure it's intact and secure.
Chrome > Settings > Home page, maybe?
