Hi,
I was wondering if it is possible to access the internet connection on my PC through the kaiser?
J
If you mean access your pc's web connection with your kaiser then simply use activesync via BT or USB.
If you mean access the kaiser's connection with your pc, then use Internet Connection Sharing on the device, either with USB or BT PAN.

Hi unwired,
I meant the first case, accessing PC's web connection.
So there is a way to do it through USB? how do I do this? can't find any info on this...
enable ICS on your lan/wireless network on your computer, plug the kaiser in via USB, and it should automatically have internet.
PC ActiveSync - in connection setings allow internet access and select profile internet.
Thanks! I will give it a try
Is there anyway to access internet on the HTC if you just have a PC connected to internet ?
using WM5 it's possible using active sync, but after i upgraded to WM6 it's not possible..
any clues ?
upgrade activsync
well....i downloaded the active sync from internet..
my IE on the desktop is using a proxy.. not sure if i need to configure something on the phone.
thanks for the reply
Is Active Sync required?
My nephew doesn't have AS installed (doesn't have a WM phone) and I wanted to be able to conect to the net without having to remember to taked an AS disk with me.
it's possible using wifi and routing the wifi from the pc to the isp
otherwise it's not possible
The only way how i know is whit bluetooth
Whenever I travel I take a bit of internet with me so I can use it in emergencies.
Another way to access the "computer's" internet over your phone is to use internet sharing from the laptop and create an ad hock wireless network between the laptop and the phone. That works great for me in places where there is no wireless but wired internet.
Check out this link if you would like to learn how to setup Ad Hoc Internet Sharing.
I can access the Internet whenever I have the HTC connected through my PC via USB and ActivSync.
Accessing the internet normally engages the GPRS data path, but with the USB to the PC (assuming the PC is connected to the 'net) it connects without engaging GPRS and routes through the PC.
It works on Vista and XP without any problems.
Another neat trick is using the HTC to allow me to access the Internet from my laptop when I'm away from the Office i.e. HTC -> USB -> Laptop -> IE Browser -> Internet. By using 'Internet Sharing' in programs folder.

Is this possible? If so how?
I would like the Diamond to use the internet connection of the desktop computer (cheaper) - and they see each other via bluetooth but it seems they both want to be "network access point"
Can you get the diamond to shut up and listen instead of thinking it is supposed to be the boss?
I actually discovered this today
If you connect with activesync via bluetooth, the phone uses the computers internet access...
well mine does... I don't know if this is standard, I just discovered it by accident
Damn, then I have to install activesync...
But thanks for the tip.
Well didn't work here. Must be some fluke on your system perhaps?

I've done this quite often, it's no fluke at all. Whenever I connect my phone to ActiveSync (or WMDC as I use Vista) via USB or bluetooth, it is able to use the internet connection from my PC.

you need to check active sync or windows mobile center(vista) options to enable data through
hmmm, that's strange ...
I'm testing it right now ... opening Opera, and there is the internet!
And I'm sure Its thrue bluetooth because my wifi router isn't connected
And when I disconnect activesync, no more internet...
Someone else that can check that?

Though just for knowledge, I'd like to know how to connect through bluetooth as well - any HTC relevant guides about that?
Have you looked into bluetooth PAN?
Some info here.
Or install a http server on the PC and set up a web proxy (PHP or cgi, etc), then browse through that..
I havnt tried either of these but its something to look into..

There's really no point in doing that considering ActiveSync/WMDC shares the connection when you connect, all you have to do is pair your phone with your PC then go into ActiveSync on the phone and select Connect via BlueTooth.
Was just throwing it out there for us non-windows users. I keep a dedicated VM for flashing, but avoid using it whenever I can.

So you have to have activesync installed as well to use Bluetooth - damn a lot of junk - but thanks for the tip

Hello
How to connect with activesync via bluetooth to use internet from the PC..I'm really like this..Thks!
Just like the title says, I have a question about getting an internet connection for HTC Dream (using a hero rom) via USB cable.
Why? Because I don't have a wireless connection, and I just don't want to spend extra $$ just for syncing stuffs.

Oh misunderstood.. hmmm yeah that's difficult. Is it a desktop or a laptop? If it's a laptop you can set it as an access point and have your G1 connect to it using WIFI.. other than that I'm out.. (again my bad!)
It's a laptop. Access point you mean ad hoc network? I tried to turn on in my laptop, but my g1 doesn't detect it.
Is there a way to use the internet connection from my desktop to supply my phone with internet connection via usb?
