Working WM6 "Black" Dialer (without Video)

I've patched together a working version of JJ's Black Dialer from some cabs of his, plus some patched bitmaps from me. If you follow these instructions exactly it will work. I did this within days of getting my TyTN II and have yet to need to do a hard reset, it's very stable.
I posted screen shots of it in the themes thread and have had PM requests for it so here goes. If someone with the skills could make this into a single cab, I'd be jazzed as I don't have those skills...
Black Shadow Black Dialer CONFIGURATION - Installed on Kaiser**
BACKUP FIRST!!!!!
1. Install Part1.CAB then Soft Reset
2. Install Part2.CAB (**Kaiser installs but says it fails) DON'T Soft Reset (press cancel after it is installed --> then go to the next step)
3. Install Part3.CAB then Soft Reset
YOU MUST FOLLOW THE ABOVE EXACTLY TO THE LETTER OTHERWISE IT WONT WORK.
Once the above procedure is completed, it takes around 2mb of storage space.
This non-video dialer is the basic WM6 (Crossbow) one and on Black Dymond 3.5
He was actually trying to port a dialer that matches the current NON-VIDEO one in the Shadow.
This was unsuccessful due to complication with incompatable DLL's for video telephony etc.
NOTE: Once you have completed this procedure you will permanently lose (well until you HR) the DEFAULT big-button dialer in your PPC.
After installing this, you will find that the background is too bright in the upper right corner to see the Bluetooth Headset Icon and Call Timer
as the original Black rom had black icons and Kaiser has white icons. I also found that the end call buttons were the wrong colors on certain screens (like during a call, the End Call button was gray when it should be Red). I modified the affected bitmaps to correct all of these and include them as the last step.
4. Unzip the fixed bitmaps and copy them into the Kaiser's windows folder and the dialer should be complete.
As I say, it's not very clean to install, but it works very well for me

Here's the screen shot again. I also attached a shot of the contactCM with the WM6 black theme cause they go great together!

Can someone make an OEM of this?

One of the guys over at Modaco has tweaked the Orange video dialler to black. It isnt quite as smart as the black dialler, but it works - with video!

Finally I got rid of that horrible AT&T WM5 dialer!

I've been using this dialer for quite some time now and it's great. But recently I don't know what happened.. some of the boxes like call history, speed dial, etc all became a white box.
Do I need to install the files again to fix it?

What uninistall that tool??

I haven't seen that before, you can try a re-install. If that doesn't work, then I think hard reset and re-install may be the only way back.

Not sure what you mean, did you install the 3 Cabs first, then copy the bitmaps into the \windows folder on the phone?
As far as I know, the only way to remove this dialer is to perform a hard reset.

couple of problems from a new user (slow,contacts,shortcuts)

i searched and searched and searched this forum for a few days, but after many tries i didn't find the answer for a few problems:
1. The main problem with my phone (this is why i'm little dissapointed in swaping from my P1i to a pocket pc device) is that sometimes it is pretty slow and it is not responding for pressed keys or screen touching. For ex. when i was setting up my T-Mo MMS settings i pressed the "Connect via" drop down list and my Kaiser responded after 4 or 5 press. the same happens sometimes with a start menu or task manager or anything else. it is really annoying...Do you have any idea for that? Aha, i've made a Clear Storage for a few times but it didn't help. it is still the same...
I guess that i have an at&t ROM (i'm not sure because it is my first phone with pocketpc) but it is unlocked.
ROM version is: 1.57.502.2
ROM Date: 08/25/07
Radio ver: 1.27.12.11
Protocol ver: 22.45.88.07H
If you need any more info, please tell me,i'll check them.
I really like all the features of my Kaiser but it is veeery annoying...
(i also have a t-mobile dash which i get from t-mobile and it seems to be a lot of faster than this one)
2. Second thing: when i copy all the contacts from sim card to the phone they are doubled. is there any option to turn off visibility of sim-contacts?
3. Next problem is there any application like Resco that shows some shortcut icons on the today-desktop screen (for ex Phone shortcut and contats) but which looks better than Resco.
4. And the last thing is how to assign PTT hardware button to:
- short press -> show today
- long press -> go to vibration mode
i've read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=356322 but when i go to windows folder (using Resco explorer) i can't see any of those files listed iin the first post ?!?!
for ex Short_PTT.lnk (push to talk button)

Try Flashing your Rom
Look through the kaiser wiki....that will show you how to install a HardSpl
software problems:
1) the stock rom doesn't have ways to fix or hack to take care of your problems
2) everything your talking about can speeded up . wiki,wiki,wiki.....will show you how to fix these problems and how to flash your rom
3) need extra help...pm me and I'll do my best to help

ok, my kaiser is flashin (64%) into Duttys 6.1..we'll see

Regitry key to edit htc home plugin

hello,
i just flash my Kaiser with the new rom from htc, before i had the nothrill release, but it was time for me to change and he seems to be dead or something ....
So my tab misse calls on my htc home plugin display the misse calls, if i want to have all calls, i have to enter menu/filterby/all calls.
ok but the thing is it didnt save the last choice.
Could someone tell me what key i have to edit for the last choice to be remembered or at least all calls choose by default.

i just put in my kayser the new rom from htc.
everything's fine , I have just 2 little problems:
on the htc home plugin , there is a tab who display missed calls (by default)
i'd like that tab displaying all calls (by default)
i discover another singularity, in photo mode the screen is black, i could take photo, but i dont have a preview

I don't believe there is a way to do what you want with htc home, the remedy for the black camera screen is to flash a compatible radio rom (do a search for the ultimate radio thread.

How to reinstate commander and zoom button on shift ?

Hi there all Shift owners and developers ,
My shift is installed with xp tablet , wm6 - ioo rom . When i click on the zoom button ( the second top right button ) it will resize the screen to a smaller and sharper display and another click it will go back to the normal size , And when i click on the commander button ( the first top right button ) it will display a bat. something ! file where i can switch on / off wifi and bluetooth by tapping on the screen . Since i have change the user setting , i now unable to get any response when i clicked both the buttons , Is there any way to restore or reinstate this earlier function to both the buttons ? Please assist me as i am a newbie to Shift , thanks and kind regards - jimmunsw

Not sure.. but if all else fails you can try a factory restore
Remember to backup first though

Had this problem. I reinstalled the drivers from the HTC website and that restored the button functions.

I had the same problem. Using XP you use the modded control center. just look in the .bat file, i installed them in programs folder, not in root c:\, which causing the error you have, I just modified the path to controls in .bat files, everyone of those 4, wifi on, off, bluetooth on, off. And had no problem. However I agreed that Windows 7 is more suitable for this device because of the great touchscreen support so... Windows 7 it is

What you need to do with it:
1. Extract android 20100430.7z on your computer.
2. Copy all files and directories to the root of your sd-card. Do not create any directory, just copy them to the blank sd-card.
3.On the X1 open the sd-card and run haret.exe. You will get alot text running across the screen.

Android (Xperoid) is allmost at the stage to be stable enough to use day in day out!
Not everything is working, like camera, headphones (or) WiFi, but it doesn't bother me that mutch.
I can call, text and use the internet so i`m fine
The few things i've encountered and tried to solve (most answers came from this topic)
- WiFi
If you want to use WiFi, use the kernel of the previous version (you can't use headphones anymore, but I prefer WiFi above that), also turn on WiFi in Windows Mobile before you hit HaReT.exe

If you want to use your data connections from your operator, you need to fill them in manually.

Some problems I've ran into that I don't know how to fix:
- Screen never turns off, it just turns black, but it's still on.
- Market fails sometimes, you have internet connection, but market gives you errors
I've encountered more problems but atm I don't remember so they weren't huge fails I guess
I`m not trying to be like "This sucks and that sucks" just trying to help improvement.

is there a way of running this from the Phone memory and not from SD? do you think it will going to enhance the speed?

no u can only run dis from sd card
it is not a complete replacement for wm as u can not use camera , gps , and key mapping is also not proper

Just downloaded the file from Hotfile and it says it does not contain archives...

Thanks Sanjayecb. It works great. Sound and wifi are both working. It's also quite fast. I think it beats Winmo 6.5.3 at speed.

no difference as such i just helped the dummies.

Do you mean the keyboard? HTC lacks few characters, some of which important - like ` for example. This is why I don't like HTC one

during past week we've tried Android 2.1 with HTC sense on X1 and is working quite well however, with once again, the screen upside down...
You have worked a lot with it and had to patch android driver to initialize the panel the correct way would it be possible for you to share with us the patched driver or point us to right direction?
