Hi,
My Kaiser has suddenly changed so that when I wake the phone up, I have to unlock the keypad by hitting unlock at bottom left and then unlock again mid way up the screen.
It never used to do this - simply pushing the power button woke up the screen and the keys were no longer locked.
The phone is set so that all keys are locked except the power button - which is what I use to wake the phone up.
Can anybody please suggest what could have changed and how to set it back.
Thanks.
What software did you install lately? Or maybe it was a feature in one of the softwares that you have, and you just enabled it!

Hello everyone. I have an AT&T Tilt, and it's great so far, except for two issues:
1) After I end a phone call, the backlight seems to go off and the screen is very dim. Pressing keys does not bring the backlight back. If I power the screen off and on, the backlight comes back on and the screen is at its normal brightness.
2) I lock my AT&T Tilt using the "Device unlocked" area on my home screen, and when I unlock the phone, sometimes it asks for my PIN, and sometimes it just shows the unlock button on the screen. My settings are for a 12 hour timeout.
If anyone can shed any light on possible fixes to these issues, that would be great. Thanks!

I have the same issue after a phone call....
Same issue here too... it doesn't happen when on USB-power... and I don't remember it doing this before the security-Exchange policy was forced onto my phone.

I think this happens coz the phone goes into standby / lock mode during your phone call. Just press the on/off button to turn screen off, and press again to turn on. Now your phone will be responsive again.
Minor bug.
Or you can just scroll the volume wheel to turn it back on.

thanks everyone for your replies. I will try the StayUnlock application.
I still don't understand my second issue though. If the bug is causing this issue, shouldn't it at least be consistent in either requiring me to type in my PIN or just hit the unlock button? I have set my phone to lock after 12 hours, so it should never ask for my PIN, just the unlock button...
I now see that people have been having the first issue since the Cingular 8125 but I have been unable to find any references to my second issue.
ATT Til and Backlight
When making a phone call, once connected, about 12 seconds later the screen goes dark regardless of the setting on the backlight. I am not using a password, and the only way to get back is to use the power button. using the phone button puts the call on hold
Okay, I'm having an odd one and searching around here for about three hours yielded me nothing, so I'm going to lay it down here:
The keylock on my Diamond fails to function at all. I've got the New SwiftBL Diamond ROM 6.0 installed since yesterday, and I think that is also when this started. I will also post this in the ROM's topic.
I checked the following settings:
- Settings, Long Press End Key is set to Automatically Execute: Lock Devie
- Settings, Key Lock is set to Lock all buttons except Power button.
I get no error messages, the only thing I see when holding the End Key is a short flicker of the screen, after which the Home Screen comes up. Do note that the keys are not appropriately locked.
I do not wish to use S2U2, and I am wondering why locking my device does not work. Anyone having any ideas?
you get this is you put a pin or password to protect your diamond and use one of the cooked roms, most roms have this bug now and i'm yet to find a fix other then to remove the password/pin completly
yeah, i have had this issue, its the rom. just let swiftblade know and wait for the next release
Able to lock (with issue)
Hi, I agree this is a bug. I configured my exchange account and have the lock policy enforced by my server. With the stock ROM there was no problem at all. But after the upgrade to the RUU_Diamond_HTC_WWE_2.03.405.3_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.51.25.26_1.09.25.23_Ship ROM, the Long Press End Key no longer works to lock the device (the screen flicks).
I found a **workaround** (but not solution ). Long press the end key (as you normally would) and wait for the screen flick, press the power button (it have to be the first key touched after the screen flick). That's all, the device should be locked now.
I know we can lock the phone by pressing the end button, which turns-off the screen and locks the phone.
The problem i have is,i want to be able to unlock the phone "only" by using touch screen, by dragging the HTC curve-bar on the lock screen. This works but the real problem is you can also unlock by pressing the Menu button twice in succession.
Is there any way to stop the unlocking via Menu button ?
I've messed around with remapping hardkey actions via this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695936
Short answer: no, you will always need some button to initially turn on the screen on before you can swipe it, and by default whatever hardkey is assigned the MENU action will also unlock the phone with a subsequent press. If you want, you could edit your heroc-keypad.kl and remove "WAKE_DROPPED" from the line
key 107 ENDCALL WAKE_DROPPED
That way pressing the end button will lock your screen but won't turn it back on, leaving you with only the menu button to turn on the screen.
the new "fresh 2.3.3" rom has that perk.
i'm not sure if this answers you question, but usually i push my home button to wake up my phone then slide the screen to unlock it, just like how i do with my iphone previously, no settings is done with my phone
Yeah, same, I always unlock my SGS with the Home-button..
Oh. Did not know that. I don't have the phone yet. Was just reading some people's thoughts about the phone and they were annoyed about the Power button being used to wake the phone. Guess, I should've researched it some more. lol. Thanks for the info.
Either way, I think I figured it out on how to enable/disable the other buttons waking up the phone if I wanted to in that thread I posted. Should be able to wake it up using the other buttons as well instead of being limited to the power button and the home button. Just gotta have root and edit the keyboard layout then push back.
the menu and back keys are capacitative keys, not really ideal for waking with if the phone is carried in your pocket or something
I am tired of sending my N1 back to HTC to have the power button repaired.
At the moment it's very hard to press so I am using custom apps to power off the phone with a widget (or long press on Search) and power on with the Vol Up key.
That works fine but means I can't have a PIN lock on the phone and means I can't connect to my work's Exchange server.
Is there a custom ROM out there or something that requires ROOT access to the phone that allows you to power on the phone with a different key but retain PIN number access? Somebody mentioned on another thread that this was no possible with a stock phone and it had to be rooted but I can't find an application that has this functionality.
Thanks
You are referring to waking up the phone correct? cause powering on is a totally different thing and I don't think you can power on with any other buttons if the phone is completely off.
If you can flash CM7, you can have trackball wake than unlock via pin code or pattern.
Sorry I meant waking the phone up not power it on which can't be done with software of course.
When I get my phone repaired I will look in CM7. I would prefer something else than the trackball to wake the phone since it's easily pressed. I do like vol up that one tool provides.
Yes, as baseballfanz mentioned, CyanogenMod has the ability to wake up the phone with the trackball (I also believe they recently added in the ability to wake it by the volume buttons). And it is built into the ROM, so there aren't any additional apps necessary for that.
They also include a notification widget to turn off the screen (it shows up in the notification drop down along with other buttons - similar to the power control widget). I also got an app called Lock Screen which allows me to place an icon in my main dock (or anywhere else for that matter).
EDIT: I just checked, and I do have the volume wake option on my phone. I am running nightly #151. I am pretty sure it is not in the stable 7.0.3, but it might've been put in before 7.1 RC1. If not, it will definitely be in RC2.

Sounds good. What I want is to be able to unlock the phone with the power button (I press the trackball too easily) and when that button is pressed, I am presented with the standard unlock screen with PIN number entry.
At the moment I have a free app from the market that unlocks the phone with Vol Up but then it's completely unlocked with no PIN entry. Putting in a PIN number disables the app.
Hopefully with CM7 I can have both going?
Yes, the volume wake is just that. It wakes up the phone, but doesn't unlock it. And I thought the same thing with it being too easy to turn on, but I've only ran into the issue a few times when it has turned on in my pocket, but the screen has a relatively short timeout before it turns off (I think it is 5 seconds), so it hasn't ever really been an issue.
But either way, it does have the volume wake (and not volume unlock).
