Hi,
I purchased my Kaiser in Germany and I would like to switch the language to English.
Can I do this without flashing? Is flashing another Rom legal or are there any licensing issues?
And:
Why is the Kaiser so awefully slow?
I have heard it is because of bad graphics driver!
Can a custom rom help?
Thanks!

changing language to english: if the os is in german flashing a official rom will do the trick. If you want the keys remapped to english characters change the keyboard layout in registery.
flashing a rom legal or not: it will void your warranty.
kaiser is awefully slow: mine is fine .. put yours on crack it will work better.
bag graphics driver: the rom's with newer drivers seem to do a better job but again this is a dead horse beated about a million times..
can a custom rom help? why would developers invest their time if they didn't???????????

Hi,
but I have read that you can undo all the steps so that your phone is ready again for warranty! Whatever, HTC does not answer my support requests anyway!
Where is the registry? Do you mean the control panel? Which Rom do I have to take, the first of the official HTC 6.1 roms here 3.34.721.2?:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_ROMs
which rom do you use? Oh, I see you use your stock rom! "put yours on crack", do you mean I should use a custom rom?

Hi,
I need to change a Portuguese Vodafone trinity into english. I have tried to update ROM with the ones available on the FTP but all I got was the 1% -> reset problem.
Does anyone have a compatible rom for this phone?
Is there a way to change vendor ID?
Is there another way to change the language other than updating the rom... maybe by changing some files or something?
I think this topic is of interest to many people for different languages, I have seen questions asked over the internet but no awnsers given.
I asked vodafone to change the language but they said to look on the internet!! LOL
Thanks in advance for any replies to this topic.
Cliff
You won't be able to flash a rom in a different language unless you CID unlock your Trinity.
Replacing ROM files to change the language is possible, but AFAIK no one has done it on trinity yet, see Asukal's enlgish MUI on the Hermes wiki, probably you can do something similar for the Trinity ROMs.
I not found enlgish MUI, please help me. I using HTC P3600.
thanks

this thread as 2 months, SSPL_TRIN wasn't realised yet...
Now of course you can use the SSPL_TRIN to update to any rom...
Maybe this http://pocket-pc.penreader.com/index.html software can do what you need.
Have a look at: http://www.sunnysoft.cz/download.php
if you want to change the language of your Trinity
Hey VOLUME what kind of software is it? It is only 5,75Mb so i don't think it is a flash for the ROM
It is a software that change the language of your PPC, ie if you have English rom you can change to other languages for all menys, input keyboard
Greetings!
There may be similar question, but please accept my apology as I am new member of this forum.

Germany (Dutch)???!??!! (thought it was Netherlands (Dutch) and Germany (German))
Most custom cooked ROMs are in WWE (World Wide English), so if you flash them you'll get the English language on your phone. There isn't a setting where you can change the language from German to English for example. But you can also download and flash an official English ROM for X1 (find latest in sticky by PavelX1).
If you want a cooked ROM in Dutch or German or any other language you'll have to search cause there aren't many floating around.
REMEMBER READ THE STICKIES BEFORE STARTING TO FLASH / HARDSPL!!!

Lol, thought the same Was wondering if they could understand me in germany when speaking dutch
definetly u should try... otherwise wheter u ain't happy enough... come back to stock ROM
Don't be shy, c'mon !!
Flash a STOCK (Sony official) WWEnglish ROM or a cooked one
Your choice
We are all here to help each other
Have fun !!
Yes, just take a look around here and read a bit and choose your favorite rom and flash it!!!!
Well, it much depends on you: are you ok with you stock, standard phone? do ypu use your X1 just to make/receive calls?
If yes, so probably you are ok with the stock ROM (however... why do you bought a PDA to only receive calls?!)
Otherwise yes, you definitely should try as many ROMs as you can. It is like a suit: you can buy the stock, standard one or get one that really fit you perfectly (that is, a cooked ROM!).
flash...flash....flash

should make that you want even more heh
i could not wait for the next version of the rom im currently using; and have yet to be disappointed. unlike the stock rom, which was utterly laggy.
with custom roms, they a lot more optimized but with a very small sacrifice of losing some features which can be negliged or replaced depending on the rom your flashing.
just be careful and follow each step precisely and you wont hit any brick walls.
read the instructions a couple of time before you attempt to flash it. make sure you hard-spl first :d
if you decide to flash it, which i definitely suggest, then be aware of some incompatibility issue between some roms and certain cabs (due to existing file or clashing of those installed files).
installing such prog can slow down the performance overall; but of course, these cabs/progs can easily be uninstalled
please do ask us questions if you need help and advise :d
DO IT !
I was just like you today....I was not sure if I should flash my Windows Mobile 6.1 to a custom 6.5 Rom with TouchFLO 3D. (manila)
I just said to my self...DO IT NOW !
so I did...
Turns out the phone is sooo much faster and better to use ! its so worth it man,

No, you would want more and moree It's an addiction - but don't worry - that's happiness with no side effects
u should try it dude yeah.. whats the point of getting an X1 right? Xplore it!!!
Is there a problem with the keyboard if you flash from for example a Swedish ROM to a WWE. Will I still be able to use the Swedish letters or is there a fix I need to apply? I want to try a ROM with WM 6.5.......

Very true
On another note, for the OP:
German = Deutsch.
Dutch = Nederlands
The languages seem kind of similar, but one telling detail about Dutch is that it looks like they just randomly double every other vowel in a word.
Just in case i dont like it or am i stuck with cooked roms thereafter?
Yes, Once installed HardSPL, you can put on any rom you wish,
This means, that you can flash Official Roms (Perhaps to change language) or Cooked Roms, As long HardSPL is on your device, you can reflash any Rom that is built for your device
Since HardSPL cannot be removed by flashing a rom (you can remove it with the removal utility) you don't have to worry about Official or Cooked roms ;-)
Hey!
Thanks for such an informative and quick reply!
I'm just thinking about my warranty etc and also whats the best 6.5 to try whilst i have your help?
Does Dutty not do Tpaz roms?
Cheers

W.r.t warranty, if you ever have to send your phone in for repair under warranty, be sure to remove hard SPL with the removal tool first
Thanks mate, whats the 6.5 rom you are running like? is it fast? any benefits?

Dutty does not work on the Topaz (yet? xD)
I still use a highly (self) customized stock rom,
If you want to use a 6.5 rom I'd recommend Tom's or udK's roms.
And indeed, if you ever need to return your phone, Try to flash a stock rom & remove HardSPL from your device, and you should be ok ;-)

I am running Tom Codons' latest 6.5 ROM - Biggest benefit to me is that windows media player appears to have more video codecs than before - I can now play vids that would not play on 6.1.
Toms ROM is genreally fast and bug free and he includes a registry editor for your convenience!
Ok great thanks guys!
As HTC dont supply a stock rom are the original rooms on the wiki mirror the same?

The ROM's which names start with RUU... are official ROM's from HTC. The question is if you find the original ROM that is on your TOPAZ right now.
If it is not listed yet, you might not be able to get back to your original status once u flashed a cooked ROM.
A possibility is to dump your original ROM and try to create the files for reflashing it. I never tried by myself, but I see in the threads of "TOPAZ ROM development" that it is not that easy.
At the end it's your decision to accept the risk.
Great thanks!
Well im flashing with Toms 6.5 rom and yeah i have hardspled
Cheers guys!
oh and i have a tomtom 7 version, what sat nav you all preferring? need to get an 'extended' version ideally to play with
I had some voice problems with tomtom, So I use iGo8

Not that much *rolling eye's*
Although tomtom is fine with the fix...

I use Garmin XT - it works flawlessly and I'm very happy with it.
I was previously using Tomtom but had the voice command cut-off problem and the fix available here didn't fix it.
@ Garmin XT users,
I don't know that particular GPS software,
And have 2 questions about it,
1) Does it have Dutch voices?
2) Does it have a Belgium only map?
If you could answer these questions I would be very happy,
Cause iGo8 isn't the best there is either

Yes, the Netherlands is listed in the voice options. I don't think a Belgium only map is available. I have the Europe map with mine.
aww, thats sad, I only use a Belgian map, So I don't need all the others...
Well I'll look into it ;-)
Thanks for your reply!
*edit* It seems like they have Benelux maps... Which is Belgium Netherlands Luxembourg
Lets fire up that search engine x)
any rom is recommended to flash the X1 (with WM 6.5 and Sense)
, fast and stability??
thats my first time trying flash, i can accept in english rom,
but must be able to view and type chinese,
well i from HK
(As you know ,it is important to sms with my girlfriend)
furthermore, any rom and retain the panel function? is it possible??
thanks for helping
i think the energy rom will do the trick and the experilo once it's fixed Experilo looks sweeeeet but energy is more stable i think about the language no idea im dutch so doesn't realy matther for me hehe
instead of making a new thread in the rom DEVELOPMENT thread you could've just read around for roms with chinese support.
but i'm sure there is a rom with that
maybe this one, i'm not sure http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624506
I'm not satisfied by the out-of-box apps from official rom. But I need this rom because it seems to be the only rom that is in English locale (for work) and support Chinese viewing/input.
Any help?
Thanks!
It doesn't exist! I looked forever and didn't find anything. This rom is the best stock rom for Rhodium, but nobody has made a cooked rom based on it. I had to install Energy Rom. Follow my instructions here to get Chinese working on Energy. You don't say if it's simplified or traditional, though.
In this thread I asked the same question. You can check there for the replies: not much help.
Yes, you are right. It is the best official ROM I've ever used.
One thing I'm concerned about is that, if you hack the non-Asian ROM to support CJK font, the ActiveSync will stop working since due to locale inconsistency. That happened for my old HTC Wizard. This is why I'm looking for a English ROM that supports CJK natively.
Or does ActiveSycn to Exchange work for you?
Ah. I'm not sure. ActiveSync works, but I only use it for file transfers. Microsoft Exchange is a dangerously insecure piece of software.
