Hi,
I need to change a Portuguese Vodafone trinity into english. I have tried to update ROM with the ones available on the FTP but all I got was the 1% -> reset problem.
Does anyone have a compatible rom for this phone?
Is there a way to change vendor ID?
Is there another way to change the language other than updating the rom... maybe by changing some files or something?
I think this topic is of interest to many people for different languages, I have seen questions asked over the internet but no awnsers given.
I asked vodafone to change the language but they said to look on the internet!! LOL

You won't be able to flash a rom in a different language unless you CID unlock your Trinity.
Replacing ROM files to change the language is possible, but AFAIK no one has done it on trinity yet, see Asukal's enlgish MUI on the Hermes wiki, probably you can do something similar for the Trinity ROMs.
I not found enlgish MUI, please help me. I using HTC P3600.

this thread as 2 months, SSPL_TRIN wasn't realised yet...
Now of course you can use the SSPL_TRIN to update to any rom...
Maybe this http://pocket-pc.penreader.com/index.html software can do what you need.

Hey VOLUME what kind of software is it? It is only 5,75Mb so i don't think it is a flash for the ROM
It is a software that change the language of your PPC, ie if you have English rom you can change to other languages for all menys, input keyboard

If enyone is interested, I managed to change OS language on my Qtek9100 from SVE to English. Many thanks to this forum and Isidoro whos tutorial was the main guide for doing the change.

As I said earlyer my Qtek was CID locked and had RUU_Prodigy_2170701_21707103_20710_QTEK_SVE_Ship.exe
I`ve followed Isidoro`s tutorial for ROM `cooking` and manged to update only OS and Extended Rom parts from RUU_Prodigy_2170702_21707102_20710_QTEK_WWE_Ship.exe.
Ewerything went OK, I didn`t get any error msgs.
My Qtek9100 has G3 version of ROM , IPL and SPL are 2.17.
Radio ROM stayed as it was 02.07.10, I didn`t change splash screen.
After all, I ended up with fully functional device with English language that I understand. Now, I can go further to SW install, tweaks, etc.

I used nb2nbf.exe to make a new nk.nbf file.

when I reading a topic name, I think you was change the Language if OS by any tweak, but you just flash different ROM like thousands people here :lol:
You`re probably right but, I spent 10 days of intensive search for solution of my problem, and this is the only thing that I understood compleetly as it was explained excelent, and once again I want to thank "risidoro" for his post.

imho it was much better (and easier) to upgrade to custom 2.26 wwe rom
I downloaded a few days ago a GPS enabled Radio ROM. I suppose it should be able to upgrade to GPS ROM just by changing the RADIO ROM.
Could it be done with the OFFICIAL Dopod ROM now available?
Would it work just by removing the non-RADIO files from the temp directory?
My goal is to KEEP my Trinity language unchanged, just enable the GPS functionality.
Any help is appreciated.

Yeah, have kind of like the same question... I've seen many update threads, but this is a very populare topic, so the threads are a bit hard to go through if you havn't followed them from day one...
so, question is as follows:
How to upgrade a Trinity and enabling the GPS without loosing your existing OS/language... A step by step guide for dummies like me would be _very_ helpfull, or just point me to the thread with the solution, that would also do the trick

If you have your .cab with your default language (it is before the dopod update in the extended_rom) maybe i can help you.
I did upgrade from my german ROM to the dopod one already but i want to have the GPS in a german Rom. is that possible?

I say up i nead the cabs in the extended_rom before the update.
To do something.
If you whant you can download the german rom and flash it in your trinity and after speak to me to tell you what.....
After will take the interesting think you can flash again the gps dopod rom.
EDIT: IF THE ROM IS BY DEFAULT GERMAN I CANT DO ANYTHING. BUT IF IS IN ENG AND AFTER THE FLASH ADD THE LANGUAGE MAYBE I CAN HELP YOU.
flashed it just now and found the following files in the EXTROM pp_defaultpage_wwe.cab, pp_extversion.cab, MP_CVSDcpl_20060920.cab and a textfile named config.
It did not ask me to change my language or anything like that

So your lang is default with out any cab install after the flash.
You can't do anything.
Nonono there must be a way. There must be any kind of file or data which tells the device to write "Kontakte" instead of "Contacts". Maybe we have to change it manually.
Does anybody know something about such a file, such data on the phone?

Look the translate is mui's files in the windows folder.
The mui file has the translated word's of the original dll's or exe's.
If your original dll's or exe's in the windows folder is german,
how you can take it out and after the dopod update add buck in the windows folder??.
You can't cause rom permision's.
If you whant you can find another away maybe a program to translate the win ce to your language.
search for that.

A better solution could be to let the original ROM installed and flash only the Radio ROM from the GPS enabled DOPOD ROM.
I do not know if this will work and if the original ROM "know" how to communicate with the GPS radio version - perhaps POF can give us the answer.
If there is no risk to flash the differnet radio ROM i will try it soon.
To get the radio ROM (Info from POF):
Use NBHExtract to extract GSM.nb from full rom, then use NBHgen to make NBH with radio only. Flash using SSPL-Trin.

Hi, flashing only the radio rom is not sufficient for the gps to work , we also need the driver in OS.nb
but from what i've read, for the moment it's not possible to edit the OS

It is look so simple to tell me the name's of the cab's included in your extended_rom.
After chek the name's of your's cab's and see if a language cab is there,i ask you to send me the cab and i will do my trick.
So the simple think is to tell me the name's of your cab's.

IMHO this is exactly THE OPPOSITE to what we a are looking for....
It says explicitly that NO ENGLISH ROMS are supported.... so no GPS ROM is supported either.
It might well be a way to investigate, but is not a solution now :-(

One thing at a time mate,
1st starting tomorrow 2/4/2007 you will be able to download a GPS enabled rom from the official HTC europe site (www.htceurope.com) .
2ndWWE stands for World Wide English and its the language your rom is written in ,since your's is English you'l have no problem in installing the GPS rom from HTC and you will have no warranty issues.
3rd SSPL is a program developed by Pof which enables devices to be flashed with a different rom from that which their CID supports.
4th CID is a type of lock which HTC puts on its devices to stop people from changing for instance WWE devices to FRE,English to French.
5th The Sim/Cid lock can be permanently removed by using pofs unlocker but you will lose your warranty .
If i were you i'd either dowload the WWE Gps enabled rom youl find in this link

and run it from my pc after first having charged the PPc battery 100% removed the sim card and synched to my computer using active sync.
Or wait until 2/4/2007 and download the HTC rom from the Htc site both roms are identical,its up to you.

I have just order my Trinity ,and i could pick both english and swedish version ..so i took swedish ,is there any diffrense?

Yes, the English ROM is in English and the Swedish ROM is Swedish.
The first poster asked if the WWE ROM is english. WWE stands for World Wide English, thats why!

Guess its a silly question, but I can use the hermes/tytn os and flash it to my p4350? I guess I have to answer my own question and say yes?
I want the norwegian base language on my phone
I have experience in flashing, so thats no problem, just wanna know if theres anything I should know that I might not know
Of course you cannot flash the Hermes OS to your Herald The Hermes has other drivers, and your phone simply will not allow it lol

No one found any other ROM's then posted in the WIKI (or just did not post them), I suggest you use IMEi-Check to CID-unlock and then flash etc..

I'm fairly new to flashing etc. so i guess i have to give it a try.
I downloaded aWizards tools for flashing. Can i CID unlock my device here ? I can upgrade radio rom and OS from here. Then install PDAVIETS wm60 rom..

Where? Other people is looking for other languages (italian...)
Got it from a norwegian distributer, brightpoint. They had it on their support pages..
I saw...no italian.....sigh....

hm, so wait, help me out here.....
i read these forums and hear from some ppl that say "no, u cant change the ROM language because htc built the original language into the phone, and u must wait for the HARDSPL"
and then tehres these threads with language roms....
so do these roms actually change the phone language??
All of these ROMS are made by HTC,
These ROMS are signed and everything, the one thing that might prevent it is if it is locked out in the SPL, from changing languages. But this would be it.
These ROMS are all signed by HTC though, and are all official ROMS.

No hard SPL
You can't change the rom ( language) whitout it.
Youre phone dosn't get broken, dosn't accept the new rom and wil do a reboot.
and no Goldcard service from PSAS (PSAS cant create goldcard... how I wish old QMAT times! (sighs))

I have flash the new 1.32.401.2
I have flashed the new 1.32.401.2 with success,
from 1.07.407.1 from GER ROM.
BUT after that, i have problem with RADIO, i can not get signal from the GSM network, i must say that i recognized the SIM.
There is a radio to flash alone, to fix it?
Or other configuration that i should do?

Did you put the cover back to your phone after flash ?
Also, you can install the hotfix from HTC site. It contains a new radio.
