Yeah, I don't understand what's wrong or stupid about that question.
My Brother thought the device could read your fingerprint... I thought it would be cooler if it could but I understood that it was a question they were asking google. I typed in the one about "what is in a hot dog" and it autocompleted for me LOL then I had to open a page... I think it would have been cool for google to put those as codes to talk about the device. Like if someone enters that in it will tell them the answer then tell you about the G1 like a marketing ploy.

Except for fact that those marketing dollars would be wasted on people who've already purchased the device.
Not really... people seeing the commercial would see it as well when they type it in to google... not to mention those using the G1's at the store.

there is a pdf viewer in the android market. its not all that....but at least one has been released now. so thats a plus

Nope, not possible. No touch screen in any phone on the market today is capable of recognizing a fingerprint.

As Black93300ZX said the touch screen can't, but biowallet uses the camera to scan the retina so maybe the camera could be used to scan fingerprints as well. I think people are going to look really stupid taking pictures of their eye.
they prolly wouldnt have to "take" the picture. it could be used in the same fashion as the barcode scanner is.
Whats the bets that with the retna scanner, the conversations of eye cancer will atleast triple! Just me?

I must not be an expert with the needs ot "most" people then. My email works, my text messaging works. The speed is great!
My games work. My GPS works. My TOMTOM works.
My internet - works!
My PHONE - well - that works as well.
I am totally happy.
Now - my battery life - I would like more than a day and a half on it - but... My SONY laptop never gives me more than 2 hours (even with a new battery) - so batteries are batteries.
Some day - I hope to be as good and needy with my phone as you are and THEN I can complain that it fails me.

i have been thinking that a programm turning your x1 into some sort of spy cam would be a coll idea. if you dont know what i mean by that:
it should for example be able to
-take photos at a user defined time interval
-set the camera resolution
-hide the camera screen on the display
-save the pics to a specified folder
-maybe start taking pics at a certain time
-etc
this would also make it possible to easily take a series of shots over the day or even week to see a plant growing or what so ever...
unfortunately i didt have the time to really get into wm programming but i also didnt want withhold my ideas from you all and maybe somebody interested could even try this out.
so let me know what you think, plz.

I just personally feel that this program is seriously asking for legal troubles. And you'd be surprised as to how many sick, perverse people there are out there who will easily abuse this "program".

Yup, every thing he describes is more for taking naughty pictures than for plants. BTW, what's so embarrassing for being honest?

Besides, if you want true high quality video with millions of frames you will need a professional camera that can record videos 24/7 and you would need to keep it plugged in 24/7.

And how exactly is this useful? This is not a real-time feed. I doubt it'd be useful if your baby has been murdered and then you watch the video of it happening (you'd obviously want to prevent it). Same goes for your house. Moreover, if your phone is sitting there recording stuff, how exactly are you going to communicate anyone? Purchase another phone? That sort of defeats the purpose of even buying a pocketpc to even begin with doesn't it?

Nice way to seem like an elitist douche bag. If you clicked the video for two seconds you would understand what he'd like to have done. You seemed to go out of your way to type up your ass-hole post, would it have been much harder to click the video and get the gist of what he wants? Sure he should have said a brief description. What specifically can you control with the phone? Only thing I would be interested in would be a full DVD remote. I hate navigating the menu trying to find certain features while the movie is going.

Yes, if a co-worker comes up with a ridiculous idea, I tell him/her right out that it is a ridiculous idea. It's not rude, it's direct.

In my opinion, it brings no value to this phone to have it act like a Playstation 3 controller. An app that could access files on the PS3 (ie gmote) would be interesting, however.
Well, this app has more purpose than controlling your ps3 (which I have, btw). But basically, this app is able to mimic other bluetooth devices; from keyboards, mice, even a ps3 controller. the use for such an app is actually amazing. having an app like this means i don't have to buy that $40 keyboard attachment for my controller. furthermore, i wouldn't even need to buy another controller.

id be real interested in an ps3 app that i can use as a dvd/br controller so i dont have to spend 25 on a remote, and using the hardware keyboard and the touchscreen as a ps3 keyboard/mouse... because as pointed out, im a broke mofo that shouldnt have a smartphone or a tmo data plan because i cant afford to pay for a snes emulator atm...
Here's the official word from the dev himself:
Short answer: BlueMaemo can't be ported to Android. Maemo and Android are not compatible in any way.
Basically you've to write everything from scratch you can't use any of the BlueMaemo bits, first you've to make sure that the Bluetooth stack in the Andoid platform is already fully open, last time I checked it wasn't, thus impossible to make something similar to BlueMaemo .

I have to say the iPod Nano in my opinion is a step backward, Multi-touch on a screen that size with my thumbs isn't gunna work so well
It so funny how Steve Jobs stated that people loved buttons on previous iPod shuffle, so Apple brought them back. Few minutes later he announced iPod nano without buttons but with small, nearly unusable touch screen. Plus they also remove camera and somewhat good display.
Apple finally did it. They made iWatch with iPod functionally

LG actually made one of these things. A phone watch which allows you to listen to music. Whether you like it or not is up to personal taste. But it's definitely super geeky...

I was wondering if anyone is aware of any World Building Apps for the Xoom. Preferably one that I could sync with an application on my PC, but it isn't required.
My specific use would be for creating a world for a story I am writing. Although I could think of a few other uses as well
@Mythico: I know it may be obvious to you, but most of us have no idea what game/system you are talking about.
World builder as in Minecraft I guess.
I never heard of any, though.

I am actually not refering to any game/system. I am looking for a generic world builder. I am writing a story for a book and would like to find some tool to assist/layout the world I am creating.
If there isn't a generic one then I am fine using that is designed for a specific game even though I have no intentions of using it for said game. It doesn't need to be to detailed. I am more using it for a rough sketch/reference point.
Do you have an example of the type of software you're referring to on another platform?
First thing I thought when I saw the title was how much I want SimCity on this tablet.

Unfortunatly I don't have any example as I have had troubles finding something for my PC/Mac. I mean I could technicially could use paint, but would prefer something a tad more complex then that
It doesn't need to show elevations or be 3d or anything like that. Although if it is something complex it is welcomed. I just want something to be able to tell this is where a house,castle,mountains,or forest is. So that I try and rough idea of the layout of the world. That and so I don't send a character into a forest that doesn't exist.

I've never heard or seen of such a thing, and as a prolific amature writer, I've never considered the need for such a thing either. I either visualise my fictional world in my head, or I make notes.
Try pen and paper. Sometimes, technology gets in the way, y'know?
minecraft is supposed to be coming to android soonish.

It is what I do now. I normally just make a mental note or if need be a physical note somewhere. It just got me wondering if there was an application that could allow you to layout everything. Sounds like I may be stuck the old fashion way. Plus as you said sometimes it can get in the way hehe

what tha **** is this guy talking about?! First we figured one out in Sim City now he says thats wrong because he is writing a book but doesn't know how to because he can't write it with a world app, that both doesn't exist on Android or PC/Mac.
Here's a hint, you want to create a world that you can't write with a paper n pen take up drugs. Closest thing to you making sense.

What is with all the hate seriously. First I didn't say I couldn't write it with pen/paper. I am just looking a tool to assist and help when needing a quick visual reference. I will just stick to pen and paper, was just curious if such an app existed on the android market.
