hello couple weeks ago i found htc s730 in Norway but the phone have password
when i turn it on it says :
Password
denne enheten er last. Skviv inn enhetspassordet, og klikker du meny> Avbryt fot du slar nummeret.
My question is : is it possible to "unlock it" or mayby i have to install new ROM?
thanks for all your help
You found the phone just laying around? The owner who lost the phone probably locked it.
I would do a hard reset of it to wipe the data and start over. If theres any information you can see or use on it to return it to the person missing it that would be good. Otherwise hard reset and enjoy.
yes i found it on sidewalk with empty battery and without any simcard
ok. but i have no idea how to do this.
can somebody tell me how to do the hard reset s730 ?
thanx 4 all ya comments
...
Everything works fine
restart to the factory settings hepls awesome.
thank U once again
Cant do hard reset ..
i have the same problem..
not that i have found a phone but that it has pasword on it and they person who has the phone cant remember the password..
we would loove to do the hard reset.. but it doesnt work..
holding down the two soft buttons and then holding down power button for 1 sec.. it does nothing at all...
anyway else to do it ?
remeber,, i cant get into the menus due to the password..
The sequence of pushing and holding down is key to success:
1.) switch off
2.) push and hold l+r softkey
3.) switch on (no long push, just normal - but keep L+R pushed)
4.) wait for the prompt for reset
5.) release keys
6.) follow instructions on screen (could be "press 0 to ...")

HTC Wings S730 Soft reset
Restarting your Phone
Restart your phone when a program is not performing properly or the phone is not responding to any keypresses.
To restart the phone
1.Remove the battery.
2.Wait for three seconds, then reinsert the battery and turn on your phone.
WARNING! If the phone is restarted while a program is running, unsaved work will be lost.
HTC Wings S730 Hard reset
Press and hold both soft buttons + press POWER button for 1 sec.
Resetting your Phone
Resetting your phone will remove all the data from its memory and restore the phone back to the factory default settings.
Important If Encrypt files placed on storage cards is or was enabled before, then backup all files from the storage card before using Clear Storage, performing a hard reset, or updating the ROM system software. Otherwise you will no longer be able to access the encrypted files on the storage card. Use ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center to transfer files between your storage card and computer. After the procedure, copy your files back to the storage card.
WARNING! All your data will be deleted, it is recommended that you back up your data first before resetting your phone.
To reset your phone
1.Click Start > Expert > Clear Storage.
2.Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the phone. The phone will restart after it has been reset.
thank you Tobbie and Hakim Rahman for trying to help..
but it doesnt work..
it just boots the phone.. then asks for the security code for the phone..
Then the softkeys seem not to work ok. They are used very often and usually are the first to quit their duty. They will not work in the applications later as well, so possibly this is the reason why it was lost.
Another idea (not sure if THAT works): slide out the qwerty-keyboard and use these softkeys for the excercise, maybe that works?
A definite way to come to a hard reset is to put a new ROM on the phone. It will however only work if the phone is either CID unlocked (permanently with SuperCID or temporarily with GoldCard) or you have the original CID matching ROM update at hand.
Go to http://www.shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=windows mobile&model=Wings and pick one that fits.
Then perform a normal upgrade. If that is not possible due to the locked phone, put it in bootloader mode first:
- push and hold camera key
- switch on or insert USB cable
-> you should see 3 colour screen
From there you can start the ROM Update.

I think you need upgrade SPL to HardSPL...
This look at the Threads of Jockyw2001 :
Wings SSPL and HardSPL
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The attached SSPL and HardSPL are based on the Wings MFG SPL v0.91
- download the attached files
- REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS !!
- connect usb cable
- create a SPL backup by running spl-backup.bat from SPL-backup-kit (make sure you Wings is "application unlocked", run the attached SDA_ApplicationUnlock on PC)
- copy sspl-0.91-wings.exe to your device and run it
- after a few seconds "USB" appears on the display
- unplug and replug the usb cable
- if you only want to test the sspl try flashing the attached splash screen by running CustomRUU.exe from flash-splash-wings
- you can now flash the hardspl-0.91-wings.nbh by running CustomRUU.exe from flash-hardspl-wings
- after installing the uspl or hardspl you can flash any rom, cooked rom, radio or splash screen
Note:
The HardSPL is never overwritten which in case of flashing trouble is a great insurance. Should you want to flash another SPL or USPL you must run the SSPL.
Features:
SuperCID / Security Level=0
Does not check NBH signatures
Based on 0.91 MFG bootloader, rtask, fat2sd, sd2fat enabled
Accept any password
Model ID check only 4 chars
SPL overwrite DISABLED (to bypass, use sspl-0.91-wings.exe)
Bypasses "Task 2A" (this formats entire flash which renders your Wings into a brick, we don't want that)
Important:
Use at your own risk! I'm not responsible for any damage to your device caused by using the attached files
Hi Hakim Raman,
...the suggested procedure will not work as you must have access to the device first for application unlock and executing applications. This is only an optional procedure if the poor guy wants to play with custom ROMs later. One step after the other...
I have a problem and I've search the forums and search google and I find people with somewhat of the same situation im in... but the methods to fix them don't work.
My problem is,
I have a T-Mobile WING (Herald)
I am flashed on soft SPL with SPL 4.70.Yang
I am ROM flashed to Touch-It WM6.1
I want to flash back to the stock T-Mobile Rom
I run the Stock RUU and it enters the bootloader and at 1% the wing resets
I then get a connection error 260 and the flash will not proceed.
I have tryed restarting my device/computer. unplugging my usb putting in another slot... and still nothing. Any help would be appreciated I'm really unhappy with Touch-It and want to go back to stock and do some customization that way.
you need to extract the .nbh file from the stock rom using 7-zip or winrar on the ruu executable. Make sure you don't extract the spl.nbh file. I think the file you want is something like RUU_signed.nbh
then put it into your HardSPL folder and flash away
Yep. Besides, 4.70.Yang is a HardSPL, not a softspl. If you want the SPL to also return back to stock for warranty issues, then just use USPL along with the tmobile NBH. If not, do what fzzyrn said for the best results.
Got to this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=421304
Go to post #2 and download the Herald-USPL-beta3
extract the nbh file from your rom and place it in the ruu folder that is located in the flash center folder.
run the utility.

The S620 is not a herald and every phone is different, so I'm not sure if we could help you out. Does your phone have a HardSPL? Have you used HardSPL before? Even if the activesync icon doesn't start trying to sync it doesn't mean that it's not connected, it just means that it has nothing to sync (since it's in bootloader mode.)
I FIXED
I Did These Steps:
I Turned My Phone Off
I Pressed The Camera Icon Button
I Turned The Phone On (no Loose The Camera Button)
It Got Into Boot Mode
I Plugged To The Usb Cable
I Oppenned The Ruu For My Phone Version
And Wowla Fixed
Thank You Guys For Your Help
The Answer is in a Careful Search
This post is being made to you about... a month too late. But that's because I just got the Wing yesterday and started trying out roms today. Anyway, ran into the same problem earlier today and found the answer in the forums. I've written the following for those who might need all the steps. In your case, read from step 3. Anyway, in case you still have this problem, here's what you do:
1. Hold camera button when pressing the soft reset to get into the bootloader; it should be in red blue green and white. something like that.
2. Connect the usb to the computer and run the stock RUU Utility (this can be found on the official t-mobile website. look under something like support/downloads for the Tmobile Wing)
3. When it hits the 1%, the phone will automatically restart. When it does this, it breaks the connection between the computer and the phone. At that instant, hold the camera button and the soft reset button. Then, when you let go of the reset button, it should go back to boot loader.
4. At this point, the Rom Utility should give you the error. Do not take out the battery as instructed. Just disconnect the usb, reconnect the usb, wait for the computer to recognize it (it should appear in my computer) and then just continue the utility.
Good luck. =)
i had the same problem flashing my P4350 yesterday. tried a lot of different things, the solution for me was:
1. start flashing from the bootloader
2. just to hold the camera button when the phone restarted after 1% (nothing else, no soft reset or anything).
this resulted in the phone restarting in bootloader again, and after that it just resumed upgrading the rom.

This one works for me. Thx!
I got a Upgrade ROM code error, please try again.
any ideas on how to get this to go away and return to my phone?
Hard resets dont work
I have tried the other things listed from the other "I bricked my phone"
Unluckily I'm using Vista and currently don't have an XP ready computer to use. I've removed the battery and plugged the USB cable in and I still get the TRI colored screen with no connection to Windows Mobile Device Center
I did notice that with the memory card installed, the TRI colored screen does go away for a second, but goes into a Loading... and that's all the phone does
from my experience tis happened when the hspl didn't flash correctly. my best suggestion would be to try flashing hspl following the instructions for vista, though it may be easier on xp.
btw, the boot looks for an image on the sd card to flash that's why you get the different behaviour.
i'm not sure if it's possible to flash hspl via the sd card only.
Thank you for the advice
I will try and execute that, but im pretty sure it wont work. the phone wont even connect with my computer
?
when trying to connect to your pc, is it in bootload? if not try that (vol down & power same time till boot screen appears). once you connect it should show in the white area the words "usb" after that try running the ruu.
problem solved!
apparently I didn't realize that I was on the stock 1.14.0000 SPL and that I had to flash the stock rom...
I then flashed the stock rom and re-did the SPL to the Olinex one and re-flashed a cooked rom
Thanx for all the input fellas
Please help, I was uninstalling some applications from my HTC PURE and had to restart the phone, when it was rebooting it hung at the ATT screen and there was small red text in the bottom left screen.
I had previously installed HardSPL 1.83 but relocked it via instructions in 2nd post because I'm still deciding if I wanna keep the phone and didn't wanna do anything for warrenty reasons.
I have the stock ROM and never installed anything except the HardSPL and the revert.
Please help me, I have tried to load the ATT Pure Stock/Shipped ROM I found here but everytime I try to in the bootloader mode it says either "no image file" or hangs at loading depending what I've tried to name the file. Also I've tried to run customruu.exe to install the stock ROM and also tried to install HardSPL 1.83 but it hangs at 0% and eventually wants to do recovery on the PC.
How do I fix this problem, and preferabbly get it back stock. I do have a warrenty, well unless I violated it by installing HardSPL then doing the revert.
Thanks

Of course you hard reset?
Make sure your SD card is formatted to Fat32 and you may mant to try a different card, 2gb - 4gb.
What does your SPL say now in bootloader mode?
Yes I tried a hard reset. I can try another sd card the one I used was fat32 and 2gb. I believe it says 1.33 can't look now but I know it's not the same as an untouched pure.

You are not the only one who is having this issue. I am frustrated beyond frustrated. How are other people flashing their out of the box ATT Pures using the same exact steps but I can't? It's making no sense.
1. I turn off firewalls.
2. I've tried both usb and sd card boot, didnt work
3. I installed the enablerapi cab
Nothing works and I am having the same problem you are having...it stays on 0% forever and it doesnt even prompt me saying there is an error it just sits on 0% until I unplug it...

Are you trying to HSPL or flash a ROM?
Well
According to what i've read, you have to do Hard SPL before you flash a rom, so i've been trying to HardSPL and it doesn't work! I even tried to skip the step and just flash the rom and it doesnt work..
Now, I also have an ATT Tilt to and I JUST flashed a rom 30 mins ago, so it has nothing to do with firewalls or anything as far as my computer goes, I think its the phone, so what can I do?
How to flash HSPL.

Its a good thing flashing the ROM didn't work, you'd be bricked.
For flashing HSPL, it seems that newer phones are having an issue.
Something may have been changed that is preventing the unlocker from working.
Do the following;
1. Hard Reset
Instructions:
- Soft reset with stylus
- Hold Vol up & Vol dwn simultaneously until white screen appears
- Following screen prompts, Press Vol up to confirm.
2. Go to bootloader mode.
Instructions:
- Turn off your device using the power button
- When the device is turned off, simultaneously press the Vol dwn + Power button
- Your device will startup in Bootloader mode
Should say SPL: 1.33 or something.
3. Sync your phone to your PC.
4. Install enablerapinew.cab
5. Unzip both Topaz_CustomRUU_v1.1.zip & SPL_183.zip to the same folder
6. Run the CustomRUU.exe
This process should install HSPL and now when you enter bootloader mode you should see something like SPL: 1.83 Olinex.
If so, you're ready to start flashing custom ROMs.
If not, please report all errors to the HSPL thread or PM Olipro.
**I take no responsibility for any loss of data or functionality of your device.**
See, the problem with your instructions are...
1. You cannot soft reset with the stylus, I don't see a button anywhere on the phone ( ATT PURE not Diamond 2 )
2. Holding Vol up & Vol down simultaneously until white screen appears doesn't work. The only thing that works is when I hold Vol Down and the screen with the colors come up, not a white screen.
So i'm still lost. Thanks for your help regardless. I just really want to flash a new rom so I can stop using this stupid slow ATT rom.
So basically you are messing with your Pure and don't know how to soft reset?
Remove the stylus and in the groove for the stylus is a red dot, that is the red reset button. Insert the tip of the stylus in the red dot and push. Now the Pure will soft reset.
Probably should familiarize yourself with the device before you finish turning it into a brick!
Oh wow. That is so hidden.
On my Touch Pro 2 its right there on the side where you can see it, with words.
Anyway, Thank you very much, i'll try that.
Still, what about the Up and Down button volume button function so I can go into bootloader mode?

Now that you found the soft reset button.... follow my procedures.
Note- you have to hold the keys IMMEDIATELY after soft reset before the boot screen appears.

You should probably post over in the HSPL thread.
You'll get more help over there. There are many others having similar issues and there may be a fix over there.
FYI, when you get to the tri colored screen, that is where it shows what SPL you have currently.
Updating rom freeze
Hi, I don't post much if at all, normally you guys have it right on the button, this is my 3rd phone to run custom roms on but for some reason it just freezes on the "Updating ROM image on your PDA Phone..." screen and doesn't continue past, on my last 2 phones active sync worked well with updating to custom roms, seems like my Pure produces the same error after the attempt, its a communication error "ERROR [262] : UPDATE ERROR", now recovering from the error is not a issue, we all have familiarity in that area but I was wondering if it could be something as simple as the cable that was sent with my phone or if its possible to flash rom through sd card as opposed to using active sync?

Yes, you can flash through storage card, just rename the .nbh to TOPAIMG.nbh, Put in root of storage card and enter bootloader mode.
You have HSPL'd, right?

Just to confirm, you have to name it exactly "TOPAIMG.nbh".
With all of the people that have tried all methods and still can't flash, something must have changed in the stock SPL.

From HTC site (HTC Pure support):
What is a Soft Reset and how is it performed?
A soft reset basically resets the memory structure in the handheld. This recovers the device from memory conflicts, corrupted system service chains (mainly due to attempting hacks), memory leaks, and system lockups due to the “Fatal Exception” program errors. Removing the battery from the device while it is still powered on is NOT a soft reset and can actually damage the device.
A Soft Reset is performed by:
Remove the Battery cover and the Stylus from the device.
Insert the tip of the stylus into the Reset hole located at the entry point of the stylus silo.
The device will reboot.
I dont know whether i have asked a dumb question or not but i've searched for all the forum, it's all "discussing" and too much scattered thing that i still cant see the specified way for my phone.
Yes, again this question, I tried to flash Energy Rom on my phone, by USB and by SD card, everytime i reboot or turn off my phone, i will need to connect through USB to boot on, or not it will display tri-color screen and flash No Image File. I copied the image file to SD card and now when i boot the phone it tell me to update the rom on SD card... And if i delete this image on my SDcard then...it's again, nothing too much to say...
Is there any way to let my phone boot on without USB wired and no tri-color screen (i guess i hate that much).
Hope getting help from you all, and please tell me step by step, i'm newbie anyway, please.
By the way, anything related to mtty or HardSPL, SoftSPL i still dont work it out. Please give me some tips.

As i pay attention to the bootloader, i'm sure that it's already made the HardSPL and the phone can recognize the image on the SD Card or by USB method. The first ROM was flash on the phone is not me, this is my friend's phone, I'm just trying to help him around then.
I tried to flash the rom by USB method, but when i restarted the phone without the USB connected to PC, it did show the bootloader (i just touch the power button, not volumn button or any other key)~ then i plug USB which connect the phone to pc, soft reset it and it boot to the system again.
I try to flash it by SD-card method but it still the same. I mean that the phone can be flashed new ROM, but it's just keeping get into the bootloader everytime i restart the phone
If the image is on the SD Card it'll tell me to upgrade ROM, if the image is not on the SD Card then "No Image File!" was flashed on~
Any ideas? My friend tells me that this happened when he tried to install Sogou - chinese input application. Is there any conflicted that cause this matter?
for little detail, the phone always shows up Successfully, but it still enter the bootloader mode at next restart. Is my flash-job done or just a mistake one?
additionally, this may be bad... remove the battery doesnt work. Please help.
help me please, do i have to hardspl again? I still cant enter WM unless i have a usb wire connected phone to pc and softreset it. Any idea?

hm, since you said the first flashed job was not yours, i think it's better that you repeat the whole procedures again starting from hardspl. but make sure you're using the correct version. re-download again if you're not sure.
also while most people rarely done so, it's bad to have multiple rom image exist in any root folder in your phone, storage card and your pc flashing tool folder (.nbh, .rom, etc), but sometimes people do forget or **** just happens.
I recommend that you remove both sim & microsd card before going any further.
then try to boot into wm with usb cable connected like you said.
take a quick look at folder and file structure in the rom. from here i would do it slightly different than others, with no battery pulls, just using the reset button. (imho, every battery pull may cause unforeseen damage especially with power still running.)
a. push hard reset combo button (don't let go) and push reset for a few secs to hard reset.
b. after hard reset rebooting the phone, push bootloader/rom update combo buttons and hit reset for a few sec. remember to keep pushing those buttons while you release the reset pin.
c. reflash hardspl, repeat step b, reflash rom. allow rom to finish doing its job. some rom may go to sleep while installing/customizing, don't let that happend.
d. just do random thing like play a game or whatever for a few minutes or more. then soft reset or power down.
e. turn on phone and wait, if problem's solved. if it is, hard reset again. continue as usual. if it's not, try other rom (ask people for md5 checksum, compare with your download). if none works, find more help.

hm, since you said the first flashed job was not yours, i think it's better that you repeat the whole procedures again starting from hardspl. but make sure you're using the correct version. re-download again if you're not sure.
also while most people rarely done so, it's bad to have multiple rom image exist in any root folder in your phone, storage card and your pc flashing tool folder (.nbh, .rom, etc), but sometimes people do forget or **** just happens.

I've just tried out the task29, it's done normally, then flash the new rom.
1. I dont think the rom are buggy, because i changed between 2 roms and it's the same matter.
2. I dont need to use bootloader/rom update combo button because it's directly entered whenever i turn on the phone (without connected to pc) (i really really dont know why)
3. Hard reset and i have my WM work again but it's still the romupdate at boot time.
I wonder if jumpSPL did all this problems, I tried mtty by task 0 and set 14 0 but it wont restart the phone, tried to format the ROM by mtty (task 32) but it wont weep out, errors given: bad... at address...
Why does it always want me to update the ROM? Is there anything wrong with jumpSPL?
the problem still, please help me give a look to this.
ouch, last time I use mttty were ancient wm2003 era. i'll try to look for info, but can't promised anything.
at this point it's recommended to reflash the complete original stock rom, undo hardspl.
check the hardspl thread about restoring to factory default. best luck to you.
