I was flashing my phone which i have done a thousand times, however this time my laptop blue screened at 98%. Now my phone is stuck with the red, green and blue bars. It does however connect to the USB (usb shows up on bottom right).
What can i do now, is the phone shot?
Thx.
Eric
As long as you have the USB in the corner you are good. I would just flash it back to the stock ROM and then go from there.
I can't seem to re-flash i get error 300 when using RUU 2.00.1

Try first to normal routine, take the battery out, wait a sec, put it in again and start.
Connect and if your lucky it will start normal (1%) otherwise flash again.
Normally it should accept the ROM which you had on last.
Don't worry it's not bricked, happened to me at least a dozen time. I have a ASUS Laptop which overheats and shuts down when flashing....
I have removed the battery and reinstalled, then when powered up it did not start over again. Just boots back to the bootloader screen where it displays IPL 2.24 and SPL 2.24. When connected via USB it will show that. I can connect to the phone via MTTY however the set commands dont seem to work and the task commands give me an invalid command error.
Thx.
Eric.
I MTTY to write a known good backup to an sd card from a wizard that was working, i got my phone to boot to the screen that asks to apply image from SD card. After about 30 minutes i get a message that says Sucess. Press any key. When i press any key i go back to the bootloader, when i power off and on i just go to the boot loader. I do notice that my IPL / SPL versions are different.
What's going on here? Is there a way to write the image files used in this process to the SD from windows so i can try a different image? When i try to view the card in windows now it asks to format it.
Eric.
Alright, so I was trying to install a new ROM on my phone.
But Hard SPL didn't work, so I attempted to do it without but now the phone is stuck on the tri-color screen. Each time I boot it shows me that, even without an SD card in the slot.
Help!
Edit: I just downloaded an original R3A and it appears to be isntalling. *fingers crossed*
when you hard-spl'd you did make sure your phone was on, synced (or at least connected) to activesync or WMDC right?
and remember you have to press yes on the phone after as well!
there is no need to hard-spl again after that
hope this helps!
I keep getting the "260 error" in RUU
on every ROM thread it says do hard spl first and u try it without it? not a good idea... and for 262 error for some ppl helped trying on different computer...
hi people.
hopefully 1 of you guys can help.
i flashed a dutty rom on my blackstone a while ago, and everything went fine. then a month or so later, for no reason, my fone just shuts off, 5 or 6 times a day. so i decided to flash the original software to see if its a hardware prob and then hopefully get the fone replaced.
the only problem is i managed to sync my fone ONCE since i put dutty's rom on and never since then. even in boot loader the fone only ever says "serial" and never, ever usb. i've tried different leads, different pc's, and these leads and pc's will connect to my old trinity which still flashes a dream!
so i reckon there must be some connection prob in the blackstone itself. any thoughts?
i read somewhere that you can flash from the memory card. so i got a rom, and copied it to the root of the card, then started in bootloader. it flashed up a grey screen with some writing on, then straight to the bootloader screen so fast, i never got chance to read what it said. did i not get something right?
the rom is titled "BLACIMG.nbh" on the card
thx in advance

First off all Flashing queries should be posted in this thread.
To answer your question.......If you are only getting 'serial' at bottom of bootloader I'd recommend flashing original stock rom which came with your device first before trying to flash a cooked rom. This original stock rom can be flashed even if it states 'serial' in bootloader (note - this is the only rom this will work with). Stock roms can be found here. Once you have flashed this stock rom, use this guide to flash rom
For your info, flashing from sd card should be done as follows:
Copy BLACIMG.nbh into the root dir of your Storage Card.
Be sure to have at least 30% of charge.
Turn off your device by using the Power Button
If you use HardSPL: Go to bootloader mode. Push and hold Vol Down + press Power button. The device will display a message and offer you to flash.
If you use USPL: Remove your microSD card first to prevent starting the flash, then go into bootloader mode. When in bootloader mode insert the card and follow the instructions on the USPL page to start USPL. The device will restart into USPL and will now present you the message to flash.
As soon as presented the message, push Power button to start flashing or Volume Down button to cancel.
The whole procedure will take about 3 minutes. After you finish and see the relative message, soft reset your device, you are ready.
Please post further flashing queries in dummies guide thread

Please help, I was uninstalling some applications from my HTC PURE and had to restart the phone, when it was rebooting it hung at the ATT screen and there was small red text in the bottom left screen.
I had previously installed HardSPL 1.83 but relocked it via instructions in 2nd post because I'm still deciding if I wanna keep the phone and didn't wanna do anything for warrenty reasons.
I have the stock ROM and never installed anything except the HardSPL and the revert.
Please help me, I have tried to load the ATT Pure Stock/Shipped ROM I found here but everytime I try to in the bootloader mode it says either "no image file" or hangs at loading depending what I've tried to name the file. Also I've tried to run customruu.exe to install the stock ROM and also tried to install HardSPL 1.83 but it hangs at 0% and eventually wants to do recovery on the PC.
How do I fix this problem, and preferabbly get it back stock. I do have a warrenty, well unless I violated it by installing HardSPL then doing the revert.
Thanks

Of course you hard reset?
Make sure your SD card is formatted to Fat32 and you may mant to try a different card, 2gb - 4gb.
What does your SPL say now in bootloader mode?
Yes I tried a hard reset. I can try another sd card the one I used was fat32 and 2gb. I believe it says 1.33 can't look now but I know it's not the same as an untouched pure.
Help!
You are not the only one who is having this issue. I am frustrated beyond frustrated. How are other people flashing their out of the box ATT Pures using the same exact steps but I can't? It's making no sense.
1. I turn off firewalls.
2. I've tried both usb and sd card boot, didnt work
3. I installed the enablerapi cab
Nothing works and I am having the same problem you are having...it stays on 0% forever and it doesnt even prompt me saying there is an error it just sits on 0% until I unplug it...
Help!

Are you trying to HSPL or flash a ROM?
Well
According to what i've read, you have to do Hard SPL before you flash a rom, so i've been trying to HardSPL and it doesn't work! I even tried to skip the step and just flash the rom and it doesnt work..
Now, I also have an ATT Tilt to and I JUST flashed a rom 30 mins ago, so it has nothing to do with firewalls or anything as far as my computer goes, I think its the phone, so what can I do?
How to flash HSPL.

Its a good thing flashing the ROM didn't work, you'd be bricked.
For flashing HSPL, it seems that newer phones are having an issue.
Something may have been changed that is preventing the unlocker from working.
Do the following;
1. Hard Reset
Instructions:
- Soft reset with stylus
- Hold Vol up & Vol dwn simultaneously until white screen appears
- Following screen prompts, Press Vol up to confirm.
2. Go to bootloader mode.
Instructions:
- Turn off your device using the power button
- When the device is turned off, simultaneously press the Vol dwn + Power button
- Your device will startup in Bootloader mode
Should say SPL: 1.33 or something.
3. Sync your phone to your PC.
4. Install enablerapinew.cab
5. Unzip both Topaz_CustomRUU_v1.1.zip & SPL_183.zip to the same folder
6. Run the CustomRUU.exe
This process should install HSPL and now when you enter bootloader mode you should see something like SPL: 1.83 Olinex.
If so, you're ready to start flashing custom ROMs.
If not, please report all errors to the HSPL thread or PM Olipro.
**I take no responsibility for any loss of data or functionality of your device.**
See, the problem with your instructions are...
1. You cannot soft reset with the stylus, I don't see a button anywhere on the phone ( ATT PURE not Diamond 2 )
2. Holding Vol up & Vol down simultaneously until white screen appears doesn't work. The only thing that works is when I hold Vol Down and the screen with the colors come up, not a white screen.
So i'm still lost. Thanks for your help regardless. I just really want to flash a new rom so I can stop using this stupid slow ATT rom.
So basically you are messing with your Pure and don't know how to soft reset?
Remove the stylus and in the groove for the stylus is a red dot, that is the red reset button. Insert the tip of the stylus in the red dot and push. Now the Pure will soft reset.
Probably should familiarize yourself with the device before you finish turning it into a brick!
Oh wow. That is so hidden.
On my Touch Pro 2 its right there on the side where you can see it, with words.
Anyway, Thank you very much, i'll try that.
Still, what about the Up and Down button volume button function so I can go into bootloader mode?

Now that you found the soft reset button.... follow my procedures.
Note- you have to hold the keys IMMEDIATELY after soft reset before the boot screen appears.
Ok.

Didn't work, I re-did the steps you listed 3 times over to make sure I was correct and the same results. I guess ATT has found a way to stop their phones from being unlocked.
Thank you for your help regardless.

You should probably post over in the HSPL thread.
You'll get more help over there. There are many others having similar issues and there may be a fix over there.
FYI, when you get to the tri colored screen, that is where it shows what SPL you have currently.
Updating rom freeze
Hi, I don't post much if at all, normally you guys have it right on the button, this is my 3rd phone to run custom roms on but for some reason it just freezes on the "Updating ROM image on your PDA Phone..." screen and doesn't continue past, on my last 2 phones active sync worked well with updating to custom roms, seems like my Pure produces the same error after the attempt, its a communication error "ERROR [262] : UPDATE ERROR", now recovering from the error is not a issue, we all have familiarity in that area but I was wondering if it could be something as simple as the cable that was sent with my phone or if its possible to flash rom through sd card as opposed to using active sync?

Yes, you can flash through storage card, just rename the .nbh to TOPAIMG.nbh, Put in root of storage card and enter bootloader mode.
You have HSPL'd, right?

I was just going through the thread. I have the same issue. i have place topaimg.nbh in the root of storage card and entered bootloade mode, it shows loading and is stuck at 0%.
HSPL is 1.83. Went through entire thread of HSPL but unfortunately didn't find any solution.

Just to confirm, you have to name it exactly "TOPAIMG.nbh".
With all of the people that have tried all methods and still can't flash, something must have changed in the stock SPL.

From HTC site (HTC Pure support):
What is a Soft Reset and how is it performed?
A soft reset basically resets the memory structure in the handheld. This recovers the device from memory conflicts, corrupted system service chains (mainly due to attempting hacks), memory leaks, and system lockups due to the “Fatal Exception” program errors. Removing the battery from the device while it is still powered on is NOT a soft reset and can actually damage the device.
A Soft Reset is performed by:
Remove the Battery cover and the Stylus from the device.
Insert the tip of the stylus into the Reset hole located at the entry point of the stylus silo.
The device will reboot.
OK... I was flashing the Energy cookie rom and everything seemed to be going smoothly... The computer said "congratulations your phone has been blah blah blah" and the phone restarted displaying the "TOUCHpro2" logo... then it stayed there for hours.
I've done soft reset, hard reset... still nothing.
I ready somewhere else to flash the phone via the sdcard, I'm trying to do that now but can't figure out how.
I downloaded the rom and copied the RHODIMG.nbh to the sd card, then I did a soft reset on phone and held vol down key, this takes me to the red, green, blue screen and it says "serial" at the bottom in the white part.
other instructions say to follow the on screen instructions.. but there are none...
ANY SUGGESTIONS?!?!
What carrier do you use ? What model number is your phone, e.g. RHOD100, RHOD300, RHOD500 ?
It sounds like you have flashed a CDMA ROM to a GSM phone, or vice versa.
I'm using uscellular its a cdma phone, and I'm sure that I've downloaded a cdma rom...
I have an HTC TP2, not sure what the model number is. Along with the "Loading..." displayed between the two red/green/blue screens it also says "No Image File!" not sure if that has anything else to do with it. Now that I look at the rom that I downloaded, I may have downloaded it from the gsm thread by mistake.. and then flashed it, so did I like perm screw my phone or what..? i've even gone back and tried to flash via SD card with a previous rom that was on the phone before flashing this one and still nothing happening..
I guess you did Hard SPL your phone and task29 before flashing?
idk what task29 is.. but yes my phone was unlocked, I've flashed more than one rom onto it, this would make my third.. if it had worked.
you said that you can see the tricolor screen, right? If so download task29 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=649191 and run it like a ROM...this will wipe your phone clean...completly clean
After that...go thru your normal flash process and it should work
Miracle!! I actually fixed it myself..=) while in the tricolor screen that shows "serial" on the bottom I connected usb cord and it changed to usb (didn't notice this before)...
While I was looking up Task29 I found something that said I can just flash normally from there, even though my "Windows Mobile Device Center" said that it wasn't connected it apparently was because it flashed like normal, and everything seems to be running ok now. So thats for the help...
BTW THIS ROM ROCKS...
Good!
Glad you got it sorted. Sounds like you did flash a GSM ROM onto your CDMA phone. But as you found out, the solution for that is to put the phone into the bootloader, then just flash the correct (i.e. CDMA ROM). As you found, your phone will detect the computer when you plug the USB cable in, when in the bootloader.
How can i flash in windows vista or windows 7? no matter whose rom i try it won't bring up the flash utility. i"ve mainly flashed from SD card but don't have the 8gb anymore and the 16 I have it doesn't seem to want to flash from that one for some reason. anyone have any suggestions?
read this carefully and you will find an answer.
