3 network recently prevented me using my payg sim so I switched to O2 and transferred my old phone number. But the phone still displays the number which came with the O2 sim card. Is this hard wired into the sim card or is there any way I can change it through the registry, or whatever?
Any help appreciated
What do you mean by "The phone still displays the phone number which came with your O2 SIM card" ???
Where does the phone display it? Make a screenshot but xxx out your phone number for privacy reasons!
Isn't the Phone Number set in Settings, "Owner Information"?

Mine does exactly the same, if you go to Sim Manager it displays the original sim number and not my tranfered one. No great shake though, unless you dont know your own number.
But just found that you can change this.. In Sim Manager go to Menu_Tools_List of Own Numbers, then edit voice line 1.. Job done.

That information you can edit yourself. I am not surebut I do believe it is somewhere under SETTINGS -> PHONE ...

Most cool. Did that restarted, after removing sim + battery, and voila it worked. Never noticed 'Sim Manager' before. You would have thought that Settings the more appropriate place for it
Most obliged - I like to be tidy/organised Knew this was the place to ask

I have a SIM with two numbers, 2in1.
The problem is that it always shows on the title bar the number "1" (Line 1)
with the two numbers. The problem is that I don't know which number is on abd I have to go into the SIM menu to check.
any solution?
where did you get a 2 in one sim - i need one of those!
it's a service by my network.
This SIM has two numbers and whether someone calls you on the first number or on the second, the phone rings.
Aw Crap!
Hey well thx for the swift answer anyway!
;-)
You can buy 2 in 1 sims on ebay along with a sim duplicator that will put both of your single sims on the 2 in 1 card. The actually even have super sims that can hold way more than 2 sims. Just search super sim on ebay and I'm sure you'll find what I'm talking about.
Thx buddy I will - not sure if these will work with Tmob tho or willthey fit the kaiser...

That I couldn't tell you. I've never used one before, just knew where to find them. SIM cards should all be the same size though so it should fit and I just read a post in the wizard forum earlier today that said that one cooked ROM for the wizard even supports multi sim cards and the ones that don't you can change which number is being used in the sim manager. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if that means you'll miss any calls made to the number not being used or if you only have to change the one being used if you want to use that number to dial out on.
No,you won't lose any phones.
The only thing is that you don't know which number you have active (to make calls).
Just this....The 2in1 SIM cards work fine on Kaiser without a problem at all.
this is great news you lot are frikkin brilliant - why did i stay away so long?!

Hey Guys, Need a little help!
Ok, I bought a G1 from eBay (I know I know bit risky!). Recieved it today, put in my Sim card (Orange UK), and it's opened up into the setup (login to gmail blah blah time settings), got into the phone mode, but it's not picking up any network on my SIM card
I can get internet (After inputting the APN settings..)
I have looked on the "About" status, and noticed the telephone number is: 07********58622#
I don't know where the 622# is coming from, because it isn't my phone number!
I go to the Network Selection, Choose Orange, and it says "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network"
Any idea's?
when you call your number does your phone ring? and can you place calls with your real number showing up? if yes then i see no problem
Nope, I can't ring out, and I can't recieve incoming calls.
That number is on your sim card, not the phone. It shouldn't effect service though. Infact Mine was 00000000000 until a few months ago when some app wouldn't work because that number wasn't correct. Call TMo and say "google phone" when you get someone tell them you need your sim card updated.
Hi, thanks for that information, bit I have tried it in another g1 and everything worked as normal. Guess it's a hardware fault or a IMEI block
I have the same problem, and I donĀ“t find de answer
My phone was stolen and person was stupid enough to call back to my wife and we got his number an he was forced to give it back. I called my network and they barred a phone. Now when I got it back I called my network and they ordered "unbarring". They said it can take up to 2 days.
I still waiting (24h)and when I start my phone now it says "SIM card changed" and I have phone pad and "Emergency phone calls be made" and thats it. It never comes to Touch Flo an I can't navigate to something other.
My question is it right or something is done to my phone while it was gone. I couldn't reflash it because it doesn't have access to internal storage. It says G but no networks bars...
Is it supposed to look like this when phone is barred?
I thought that when phone is barred via IMEI nr that you can't use phone for calls and sms (because it's baned on any network) but still TouchFlo should be accessible. I didn't realize that phone itself can be locked...
You can flash a new rom from bootloader, using a custom ruu

i was answering that part of your question lol yes thats how it should look when your imei is barred, if you look in the development and hacking section there is software there to change ur imei number wich will unbar it, you will almost certainly be braking the law doing it tho so i suggest you try other methods first,

"yes thats how it should look when your imei is barred"
Tnx for your answer. No, I don't want to change IMEI nr. Why should I do that now when I know that is "only" barred? That is my phone and I will wait for network to fix this.

I think a 3rd party software had been installed in your phone. To give you an idea, I'm using this great FREE software so I can control my phone just in case if it's stolen:

HELP!!!
This morning (after 3 days) my phone has been "unbarred", yeaaaa!
But...
I had my SIM card X (may old private number) in phone when it's start working and I replaced with SIM card Y (my job number) which I was using with my phone over a year before it was stolen/barred. And guess what? Now when I put in SIM card Y (job) it doesn't work!!! Of course I tried card Y in another telephone and it is working!
My Y (job)network says that the still can see that my phone is barred and they hope that it will be unbarred for their network with delay because it was not "home network" for telephone . Phone was not locked to none of networks.
Any clue on this?
Hi all,
I have had a google nexus one since it was first launched and I am loving it to bits, however, it has never displayed the correct phone number of my sim card. I have no idea why and I have done everything, inc resetting device. When I call another phone that displays the correct number so I am at a loss at the moment
Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?
Now running andro
id 2.2 and this has not resolved this issue. I am on 3uk network.
Thanks in advance
same here, on stock froyo
The phone number is stored on the SIM card. There are no menus within Android to change it. Hunt for an old Sony Ericsson phone (eg K800i), stick your SIM in it and that should have a menu option to edit your phone number.
Unfortunatly I have no other phones to do this so I will leave it. It does not cause me any problems to be honest... Just more of an irritation.
Thanks anyway... I think I can live with it
You could replace the SIM card with a new one from your provider.
search for 'me in message app' or 'me in messaging app' I forget what the topic is called.
All solutions are in there...

That thread.
dont ask me why, and its slightly embarrassing, too, but on my sim the "own phonenumber" is set to the number of my gf.
well i know the own phonenumber is stored on the sim, and theres no way in stock LG skin to change that, but is there an app out there or another possibility other than putting my sim card into a different phone to change my own number?
i changed the sim, the new one showed "undefined", and after putting in the old one it was still the wrong number
I actually looked this up for my previous phone a while back. Only thing I found was, put your sim on a very old phone, change own number from there... and pop it back into your phone.
Android seems to not be able to change the own number on the sim.. not sure why!
