I was not able to find this problem anywhere else, although I may be overlooking it.
Rom: Cyanogen, latest stable (as of 7/22)
Issue: When searching for an application in the application drawer, or when searching for a contact from the main screen, a subsequent return to the homescreen shows the string I had searched for and does not allow deletion, or further searches. I have to reboot to clean out whats there before I can search again.
Example: I opened my app drawer and typed in 'ga' as I was looking for gameboid and wanted to narrow it down. Upon exiting the application, the main screen still showed 'ga' as if I was searching, and wouldn't disappear until I rebooted.
I apologize if this is a known issue, I havent seen anything on it, nor have I found another thread. It started happening as of 2-3 weeks ago but it is *not* consistent, and has happened across different versions of cyanogens rom. It is very possible this is just related to some application I have, not blaming cy for any of this
Wipe and reflash your rom and see if problem persists.
is it possible to set up bookmarks on my home screen that will open in certain apps. for example as i check my facebook occasionally and normally dont spend alot of time on this, can i set up a bookmark that will open in opera. then set one up to link to this forum to open in dolphin?
is there an app to help with this? im thinking bettercut but i have no idea if this can be done or how.
mainly want this to just save on one less click.
Okay, so far, mostly good, but have a few questions I'm hoping someone can help me with. I've used autonooter for 1.0.1 (after upgrading the firmware to 1.0.1 of course) and also disabled the cell and telephony services by renaming them to .OLD.
1) How do you get the web button to actually launch a different browser than the stock one? I've installed Dolphin and Dolphin HD and set each in turn as the "default browser" in their settings and mutliple times after multiple reboots. But when I use the 'web' button on the NC menu, it always takes me to the stock browser. What am I missing here?
2) I don't want the 'email' app running. I don't need it, don't want it (have web-based email for everything I need), but can't figure out how to keep it from running. Or maybe I just don't understand what it does? Can someone explain either the necessity of email or how to shut it off?
3) I also notice something called 'social' running. Have no clue what it is and figure I probably don't want or need it running. Can anyone explain this one for me (why I need it or how I shut it off)?
4) Has anyone found a workaround to replace needing a reboot to make installed apps show on the extras page?
5) How to you manage the 'extras' page? As the amount of installed apps grows, the page is becoming more and more difficult to use. Is this something simple I'm missing?
6) I noticed the open book/recently reading icon doesn't work now unless I use the stock launcher. I've read that all you have to do is run it once (then go back to softkeys or whatever) and the button works, but also read that disappears each time you restart (see above). Is there any workaround to having to do this?
7) Is is possible to remap the other keys? For example, make the open book button do something else? Or the keys in the menu that comes up?
8) Lastly...what size microSD card does everyone recommend? Seems anything over 4GB would just be a waste.

Don't use the Web button. Launch the browser.
Set it to sync manually. Fixed.

Use a launcher. ADW Launcher works great.

Pretty sure if you hit the softkey for the B&N apps, hit Library, then tap the Book icon you're talking about it will launch the last book. 2 extra taps.
Those aren't keys, and let's just say no.
Anything under 8G ain't going to have much music or data. Up to you.

1) When you say "launch" the browser, from where do you mean? I tried the web icon in Zeam and it does the same thing. Are you saying the only way to use an alternate browser is to open extras or apps and launch it? So 'set as default' doesn't work on any of these browsers?
2) I set up the email check frequency to never but it still runs once rebooting.
4) Tried using the applications icon in Zeam and ADW, but it still doesn't show newly installed applications until a reboot.
6) Thanks for the suggestion, but the book button still doesn't work.
Any other thoughts?

I'm not sure I understand why that's relevant. Have you posed that question to the hundreds of others on here who have done so?

I am rooted. I rooted because I thought this $249 eReader would make a great tablet with the right hacks/rom. So far the market, gmail, calendar and others things work great. Waiting patiently for CM7.
4/5 Theres no readin to use the b&n bar. Use the app drawer (from adw or zeam) to launch your apps. In the app drawer hold down your browser (use dolphin hd or another, the default is no good) icon and it will make a shotcut on the main screen. You dont really ever have to use the default bn stuff.

6 Its broke, havent seen a work around.
I am using X-Rom 2.3.1 and have issues trying to do anything in the Gallery or Google Photos app. Trying to copy, move, and sometimes view pictures throws an error saying it has stopped responding. This happens about 3 or 4 times for every picture moved, and it is frustrating. I've tried clearing Media Storage and Download Manager's , restarting the phone, and even disabling Media Storage. Disabling Media Storage worked, but I could no longer access the Gallery (which defeats the point of even trying to solve the error to begin with.) What should I do about this issue?
Edit: So I've gotten the error to stop appearing by using Simple Gallery instead of the Samsung Gallery. Simple Gallery is a better app anyway, so I don't mind using it. However, the thought that I am putting a band-aid on the problem doesn't sit well with me. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I've tried basically everything a Google Search will find and no amount of cache clearing, app preference resetting has been able to fix it.
Edit 2: I apparently had some file in my downloads folder that was refusing to be read. I backed up the folder and deleted it and it works now.
This may be the wrong subforum but this is happening on my Verizon Note 8. Several days ago, when browsing in Facebook, after finishing with reading a post that links to an article, website, whatever, and hitting the lower back button, I get a popup with "Open with" at the top and numerous apps to choose from and none of them make any sense. If I select one of them, that program opens up but never has anything to do with the article. I can also double press the back button and go back to browsing. I tried searching for a solution and have tried them all. I have cleared the cache, I have cleared data and cache, I have uninstalled and reinstalled Facebook. When doing any of these, it might stop temporarily but always comes back. I am thinking that it might have to do with maybe a recent update? And if so, a future update may solve it? Its driving me nuts...
After latest update, it no longer does this...
