Hello
can somebody help me understanding the difference betwenn Voice command and speed dial and if I can use both on the same PDA ?
So far I understand that
- Speed Dial dials numbers and start programs by using voice tags
- you need to train each name to be recognized
- there is no true voice recognition
- Voice command dials numbers and starts programs by voice recognition
- in addition VC reads calendar entries and SMS/E-Mail
- there is no training mode to increase accurancy
So which program would provide better results for recognize and dial numbers by voice ?
Can I run both in parallel and use VC for the calendar function and Voice speed dial for the dialing ?
Plus I try to install VC 1.6 now .. but the button maps only to the explorer button on my TytnII .. not able to move him to the voice record button with the button application in settings
any suggestion / fix
Thanks freecall

I have the same problem.... any solution?!?!?!?
Cyberon is crap. I posted a detailed procedure for replacing it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337501
I have installed Cyberon voice commander v2.0 and i am very happy with it when i use it with my bluetooth!!!
My only problem is that i do not know how to assign this program to the default "button 6".
I think default settings are:
"Button 6" --> Cyberon voice commander and
"Button 6 (Hold)" --> Record. (This one works).
hmm that sounds like a drastic deinstall .. so anyway to get the Voice speed dial back without doing a full hard reset if I would it like better than VC after some testing ?

M$ Voice Command ROCKS!
Ok I don’t say that about many applications especially M$ ones but I love VC. I keep my phone in its case and the BT ear piece in the ear, when the phone rings or I get a Text message VC tells me who is calling or reads the text to me. If I have an appointment but don’t recall what time it is, I just ask VC.
As far as accuracy in voice dial, it can’t be beat, say “Call: Joe Blow on mobile phone” and it will confirm “Call Joe Blow on mobile?” never misses. Say; “Dial 2125551212” and it will confirm and dial the number. No voice tags no training and it works for anyone. If my wife grabs my phone and needs to call someone she hits the VC button and off she goes.
Ok so there is one issue, with the Tilt there is no convenient button to map too, but since I do all my dialing from the BT headset or car unit it doesn’t matter to me. If you don’t mind it maped to your IE soft key ok, you can get to IE 3 or 4 other ways. On my old wizard (long live the wizard) I had it mapped to the record button and it worked great.

I have to agree with Russ. Microsoft Voice Commander is by far the best ~$17.00 I have spent for this phone, as well as the 8125 I had before this. The Voice regconition is awesome. I did have to change the buttons as described above. I chose the camera button as I never use the camera anyway. It works great with my HT700(headset) as well as the HT820(bluetooth headphones). The options allow for a good level of customization as well.
that sounds realy good and I will start testing it .Two quick questions to the comments above:
- have you installed VC without deleting / un-installing Voice speed dial on your Kaiser ?
- second it looks my device recognize all VC commands like time, date , help , signal etc but when I say call First Name Last Name it never finds any of my 590 contacts .. even it the name is as simple as Taxi G7 .. beep comes back empty .
When I say just call .. it dials a number I do not even recognize.
Can this be related that I do not have a option menu for contact in the VC settings (it is greyed ) , I can only select the notification button ?
Or is this maybe because I use PI 2007 ?
Thanks Freecall

freecall,
Right now i have both installed (getting ready to delete Voice Dial) and VC is partially functional. I will accept commands and process them correctly but it will not announce calls, read messages or calendar data. So once i have VD removed I will let you know.
I recommend you also remove voice dial before trying anymore tests.

I did not uninstall Voice Dial. IF you want to hear the calls and emails, make you configure VC properly. There is settings for only:
1.) Only announce during Free-Time. Make sure you check that one to whatever you want.
2.) Only High Priorty Emails get annouced. Again, check whichever option you want.
Where do I get a list of commands that VC will recognize? E.G Dial, Recall, on Mobile, etc.
Say "What can I say?" and you'll have your answer...

or go to the Microsoft website and look up VoiceCommand 1.6 for PPC. The list is really quite long!

Any ideas Gang?
So, after following the thread for removing voice dialer and remapping the PTT button to become button 6 and button 6 (hold) VC is still not announcing incoming calls (and yes I have configured the options!) anyone have any idea why it would perform 90% of its duty and not the last 10%?
Russ741
Are you sure it's not announcing them, or is it possible it's announcing them through the "wrong" speaker? If you've got it set to use BT, BT, and only BT, then all of the announcements go through the headset, or don't get made if it's not currently connected (like walking out of range and then back in).
I tweaked mine to announce only through the speaker, then turned it off because the robot voice annoyed me, but at first I thought it wasn't working...
One question about VC...
Do you have to say the person's full name to dial them? Let's say I have a contact name John Smith, do I have to say "Call John Smith Mobile", or can I program nicknames somewhere within the software so I can say something like "Call Smitty"?
It's based on the contact name, so "Call Smitty" will confuse it.
Is it possible to send messages just using voice or only receive them?

It is based on what ever names you have in contacts so, for example if I want to call my office I say; "Call work" since there is only one number in the contacts database VC doesnt ask for Mobile, home or work. And since my office is just listed as First Name: Work Last Name: <blank> it understands.

I simply reads the text or email to you, so there is no way to compose a message with VC.

Anyone have a shortcut for enabling call forwarding? I always forward to the same number. I would like to be able to use a button or voice command to bring up the call forwarding screen, and then just click yes/OK to enable or disable it. Anyone else using this?
By the way. I have been using ATT's fast forward service for a couple of years. Do I need to continue paying for this, or will the phone redirect the calls?
Thanks,
Tom
Bump. I'd really love to find how to do this also, I'm doing it several times a day ...
On my 8925 phone I created two contacts.
Turn Forwarding On:
_OnForward
*21*5125551212#
(replace 5125551212 with the areacode and phone number you want to forward your calls to)
Turn Forwarding Off:
_OffForward:
##21#
The _ puts the two items at the top of my contacts list. I click contacts and then press call on the selected forwarding option. Sometimes I get an error message "command not supported", but that is related to my phone's connection strength and not the programming. This has been working well for me for about a year. I have tried to make a couple of buttons that dial the contacts directly from another screen, but that hasn't worked. You have to open contacts and the press call on the option you want.
Later-
Good morning gents.
I have an HTC TyTN II with Win Mobile 6.1
I created the contacts like that and on my "Favorite People" page I put the contact there, it just says :
"Cannot Complete the call. the Signal may be unavailable or the phone number may not be valid. Verify the number or try again later."
From the contact list it works of course.
Another question regarding call forwarding. Is there a way to have an icon on the top bar that says the call ARE being forwarded... I keep missing a couple of calls that end on my home answering machine because I forgot to forward
Vesperatus-
I have all of your same issues. As far as I know, there aren't any solutions. You just have to remember to unforward your phone.....

Hello
I have an att tilt and am a new user. My question is about the voice dial feature and voice launch feature.
In looking at the manual it seems like after you set up the voice feature for each number or program, you still need to go to start / tools / voice dial just to launch it. Is it me or does this seem to defeat the purpose of voice activating a program? You need to hit a series of keys when it might be just as quick or quicker to just launch the program or dial the number.
Does anyone have any suggestions to maybe make this function more easily accessable when you are lets say driving?
Also does anyone know if bluetooth headsets that say they support voice dialing will activate this function?
Thank you
Adam
Your best choice would probably be a bluetooth headset. On those, you just press one button and say who you want to call and it calls.
There's also a program called Voice Commander - but it's not that good yet, it has voice recognition.. just google it or search this forum.
If you're not driving, using smartdial is probably the way to go. Your Kaiser/Tilt should come with it. You just start typing person's name and it appears in the list.
Another opion might be to use HTC Home - you will have about 7-8 boxes with people's names or photos.. you just tap on in and it calls that person.
Oh, and by the way... you can go to start/settings/personal/buttons and assign a hardware button to that voice application.
Hope this helps..
Don't you have a button that activates the voice dial? In my TyTN there is a button on the right side of it. I used to push it accidentally all the time - it made me so annoyed that I turned it off.
Hi! I am looking for a call filter program that can filter all unwanted or no number incoming calls, I tried photo contacts pro but its slow & sometimes the caller can't hear anything for 1 to 2 seconds repeatly during the conversation. I also tried MagiCall, this program is simple & nice but it can't hang up the no number calls, instead it will pass these calls to my voice mail box directly. It has a option "pick up/hang up", this works what I want but will waste the air time. So anyone can suggest a call filter program to me that can directly hang up the no number calls? Thanks!
Call Firewall
thanks for your reply, I've seen the features of this program but it doesn't mention it can block no number call or not? Do you know it has this feature or not? Thanks!
uh, sorry, can't help you there. I only HAD this program in some of the ROMs I used, never actually USED it.
And auto-rejecting no-number calls would have killed it in my book anyway, because the phone central in my office randomly removes id from outgoing ones, and so I would never receive business calls, lol.
Ask around, or better yet, try searching the forum for impressions/reviews. I know Laurentius26 uses this app in some (if not all) of his ROMs.
[EDIT]
That's what I found in the description:
Features & Options:
a. Accecpt all calls - pretty self explainatory
b. Accept call from My Contacts only - accepts calls from contacts only, others are rejected
c. Reject all calls - pretty self explainatory
d. White List - accepts calls only from the white listed nos
e. Black List - accepts all call except from the black listed nos
f. Black List Pattern - any no STARTING from the black list pattern list is rejected.
for eg. if you enter "123", so all nos STARTING from "123" will be rejected
this is a very nice option with which you can block nos from any particular network, country, city , area or whatever you can think of.
Besides, there is a check window for "Reject unknown/private calls"... I'd call it a YES, then
CallBlock
I use callBlock from WISH solutions to block a list of callers. It works well and it does not have to answer and hang up.They mention that it can block no number calls but I have not tried it for that. Here is the link:
http://www.wishsolutions.com/products.html
Good luck!
Just tried the Call Firewall, it can block no number calls, but transfer the call to voice mail box directly. Anyway thanks for your suggestion
actually, this CallBlock looks like it offers a few ways of blocking the call... See picture at this address
Block method: dropdown list... Wonder what's in there? researchermd, can you check and let us know?
call firewall works just fine. I use it to block unknown or private numbers.
In addition, you can use your network settings for call barring and block numbers that aren't in your phonebook if you want the extra security of blocking numbers.
The screen you provided should be "CallBlock Ringtone Edition" which is make for palm. For the PPC version, there has no such option can be found
I'd like to send an SMS to the caller, when I manually reject an incoming call.
Something like the SMS reply function of Call Firewall application, but just for manual rejects, not for blacklisted callers...
It's an application I saw on Rim Blackberry phone of a friend of mine. When someone calls and he's in a meeting (but for some reason he has the phone on), he just push the red button. The caller receives an SMS like "Sorry, I'm busy, I'll call you later", and the reminder of the call-back goes in the to-do list.
It's something very useful, I wonder I didn't find any WM software able to do this 'simple' matter...
Thanks for any help
Thunder
Some dialers on custom ROMs have that built-in (it's one of the softkeys, however, not the red ignore button). I'd look around at some dialers that you could flash to your phone.
most of htc's newer dialers on newer devices provide the option to "reject with an SMS" in addition to the usual "answer" and "ignore" functionalities.
i believe the dialer from the htc opal was one of the first dialers to offer the feature.
fortunately, in the world of winmo devices, the great people here at xda frequently and successfully provide "rips" of such applications that work just fine on any other device...like the previous post mentions, quite a few custom ROMs include dialers ripped from other devices. so you can add on the desired dialer or look for a ROM with the dialer of your choice built in, so search away!

As per their web site, this tool replyes to every incoming call with an SMS, when enabled, and this is a standard feature of callfirewall.
What I need is to manually reject a call with some button, and send an sms to the caller.
Much more, I'd like to find the task "call back Mr. Jones" in my calendar...
I'm going to look into some dialer plugin...
Thanks

Thanks a lot, my friend, but unfortunately this app does not install on my Kaiser.
Don't know exactly why, but I downloaded (twice) the demo cab and it is not installing.
Any other idea?

Just to inform everybody here around that S2U2 has this feature built-in.
I had the solution in my hands and I was not aware of this...

Try "QSMS To Buddy:FullFeatured" free app from android market
Use "QSMS to buddy" App from android market.
- This app allows you to send sms to missed/rejected calls.
- It also allows you to send a 'default' sms after user specified time period. e.g. you can specify to send a msg after 10 secs
- *** You send sms during "Outgoing" call reject as well
- *** You have ability to messages while sending the reject sms depending on the context. e.g. "I will call back in 10 mins" instead of "I will call back later"
There are other interesting features as well in this app. Watch demo at youtube with key word "QSMS : Quick SMS To Buddy Android App by Onion Systems"
