I have downloaded the Bling theme and I can't seem to install it. It is not in the normal theme ext. All the files are labelled xxxmanilla. Can someone help on a process to install this theme.
Thanks in advance.
You have to put them all in your Windows folder (the main one; should be "\Windows\") and then soft reset. I recommend backing up the other ones first.

No matter what theme I try to use, it's not recognized in WM6 when I tried to import it (no valid file found), or try to click on the file, it just takes me to the today settings with the list of themes, but the new one isn't there.
Anyone have any idea how to force WM6 to start recognizing themes?
you have to copy the .tsk file into the windows folder on your device. this information is ALL over the themes thread so do a search using google.....
I used search and the words ( install theme ) and the 4rd one down, maybe 5th now. You may have had this problem solved earlier if you had used it.

I just found that - does anyone know anything about files with an extension ".theme" for WDA? Thanks for the input!
I am using WM 6.5. Install a .tsk theme is no problem, just copy it to the Windows folder. But when I try to install a theme which comes as a .cab file, I can install it, but it does not appear in the selection list later.
Anything I missed out ?
Thanks, Wolfgang
The tsk is only one part of the theme. It has the wallpapers and registry settings. The cab is needed to install the tsk along with the png images that the theme uses and to which the registry settings point to. If the theme is failing to install correctly from the cab then you have a problem.
Try uninstalling the theme and manually deleting the associated tsk from the windows directory. If the theme fails to uninstall properly and refuses to reinstall then a hard reset is the only option at that stage.

currently using superE, i have used ALL the current builds with the exception of superHero. went NAND about a week ago. wanting to be able to USE some of the themes- is there an installer? or how do they work?
1) Find the theme you wish to download and, well, download it. The file downloaded needs to be in a .tar format (usually called androidupdate.tar).
2) Take the androidupdate.tar file and put it in the ANDBOOT folder on your SD card.
3) Soft reset your phone and hold down the center button on the d-pad during boot to get to the menu.
4) Select Option 4 - Install Update.
5) Let the installer do it's thing. When it is completed you will be brought back to the installer menu.
6) Soft reset the phone once more and enjoy your new theme.
That should do it for you!

ok now i am just bamboozled.... i know i am not the most knowledgeable at this but aren't these the same directions to load a new android rom? not trying to be combative just thoroughly confused by now.
thanks again
Installing a ROM would be Option 1 - Install System.
Themes are applied via Option 4. When you select #4 the installer unpacks the androidupdate.tar file and overwrites existing files on your phone's NAND to apply the theme. If you choose install system (#1) it wipes the phone and uses a file called androidinstall.tar to reinstall (different file from androidupdate.tar).
So, basically once you install your ROM on NAND all updates, themes, etc will be need to be installed via Option 4.
Itd be a good idea to add this to the FAQ- I didnt know this either
thanks for the help much apprecited
Alright....I've tried searching and searching but I can't find exactly what I need. I'm wanting to try to port blue echo to cm6.1. Now I'm still a little new at this but I've learned how to smali and baksmali, use flashboot, sdk, sign zips, create flashable zips, zip align, optimize, pretty much all the ends and outs of the basic. I've only been at this 4 months but I love android and want to learn to become a dev. Now I'm trying to learn how to theme roms. There are a million guides that I've found but now will tell me how to do this . Could someone point in the right direction to a thread explaining how to port a sense theme to cm6.1. Ive tried replacing the images in the drawables folders from framework-res . Repackaged zip aligned optimized signed and flashed. Nothing took. So I opened the zip all the images had copied over in the cm6 rom zip. So I wiped and flashed the modded zip it still reverts to the original framework of cm6. I don't understand how that is. I need a way to just copy the colors and images. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong or know of a how to with just the steps .I already have all the programs on my pc.

Simplest way, if you just want the icons, pics and notification bar things is to use 7zip for PC. Don't extract the theme, just open it. Navigate to the framework-res.apk file of the new ROM you want the theme to work on, open but don't extract, copy all the .png files from the theme into the ROM or new theme you are making. It will ask you to replace, obviously you say "yes" When you are done, just close it all back up, no recompressing or signing needed because you didn't extract anything. Just put it on your SD card and it will flash.
Let me know if you need more help. This by and large the simplest method for making minor edits to a theme.
Download the CyanogenSense theme by mrinehart93 found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723224
It's a working Sense-looking theme on CM6. Download it, unzip it on your PC, pick it apart, etc. to see how he changed and compiled it to make it work. Hopefully that will help you figure out how to do what you want to do. Good luck.

I did this but had to flash clockword because i was using ra, it wasn't verifying the update. So i turned off signature verification. But I'm using firerat mtd and forgot that i have to repatch the clockword for this so I did'nt really get to see if it worked yet. But thanks all of you responding I appreciate it. Ill let you know if these methods work.
I fixed the prob. Did everything suggested by copying the png's between the zips without extracting them. Even doubled checked all the png's everything looked like it was a go . But I only got 3 of my new icons. Everything else was still stock cm6 even the notification bar was stock. Do I got to do more than just transfer the png's cause it seems like maybe the xml's are reverting them back to stock?
Ive been working on a custom theme for MIUI for a while now and I just finished it but everytime I try to load it up on my droid it just puts me on the default theme. Help/Suggestions?
No one has any helpful advice?
Yes, that has been happening to me too, but that is when I try to go from scratch. There are two things I can think of right now that could be stopping that: You are on a mac and you used the built-in archive, and you didn't use astro to delete the MACOSX_. Folder, or you don't have update scripts or code that you need.
You're right about the mac. So how do I get rid of the MACOSX folder?
Scratch that. Just found it. Trying to load the theme now....
And still same default theme.
Actually I might have just found the problem. When I compressed the folder it put the actual theme folder INSIDE the .zip file instead of putting the contents in the .zip file.
