Anyone know where the registry key is to change the power off setting? I would rather have it set at 30 seconds than the minute 1 min that is allowed in the settings.
I wouldn't change it to anything less then 1 minutes as you can run into issues with the notifications (aka alarms) not working properly.
Ok well what about the backlight settings, the options are 10 sec and 30 sec. Can the registry change to say 15 sec?

should be in registry at HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\BatteryTimeout. Change this key to whatever you want..
Wonderful, thanks so much.
This has been bugging me for months and it's about time that i ask...
Under power setting, the lowest you can the device to turn off is 40sec. Is there a way to edit this so it turns off in like 5/10/20/ect seconds? I'm searching the registry but I couldnt find the right key to edit. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi,
Is there any way to change backlight time out when the phone is locked(long red button press)??? Normally my phone is set up to turn of backlight after 40 sec -and I wanna KEEP it. I need to shorten that time to 5 sec only when the phone is locked(when accidentally I press any button in the pocket it will be unnecessary draining battery for 40 sec. Please can anybody help me?
Bump, I would like a solution to this also. Seems like my Diamond used to time out after ten seconds when locked, but it doesn't do that anymore. Now it uses the settings in the Setting:System/Power/Backlight, which I have set at 45 seconds I believe. I think installing Phone Alarm might have something to do with it. I disabled Phone Alarms power settings, but still same problem.
Anyone know the fix for this?
Nevermind, I just started using S2U2, and I can adjust this the way I need it. Thanks.
For some reason, my powerbutton is malfunctioning and there is no way to repair it. I wonder if there is a way to change the settings in the phone and not allow the power button when being long pressed to try to reboot the phone. Does somebody know how to tweak the phone and get this result?
Thank you.
I think pshutxp may help you here.
If I recall correctly you can set it to trigger the shutdown menu on a long press of the end key. You can then cancel the shutdown if the key has been pressed by mistake.
doubt it think it's harder connected as
even if my phone freeze 100% up
and that would mean that any software button setting
is not being enforced as the system is not responding
long press reset the phone
so I'd take that as it's not controlled
by windows mobile
I've remembered what it was now... it's not a feature of pshutxp, it was Schaps Advanced Configuration Tool that I was playing around with.
Use the key mapping feature to assign a program to the long press power key setting. I tried using this with pshutxp in the past.

I have to really thank you Dave!
I ended up fixing it by re mapping the power key using the Adv. config program and making the long press power key to call the Tasks program. I was in need of a program that was going to do nothing like the Tasks program which actually runs in the background.
Before, some months ago I used this same re map of the hard keys but calling a Power off program and it was very annoying. Key here was to choose a program like this one.
I've searched everywhere to find this out, but no luck so far.
I have set my back light to turn off in 10 secs. What I want is my whole screen to power off (not just back light) and to come back from standby when any button is pressed/ text message received or phone call.
I know I can set the unit to shut off after 40secs, but I just want it to go standby automatically (with screen off) and come back on when any button is pressed etc.
Is this possible?

I don't think you can do it natively unless it's a very bad registry hack But I think with third party software it would be possible - however, power consumption for checking if the phone has been used in the last 10 secs is probably bigger than the savings you get from turning the screen completely off. I would be interested in it, too, though.
Can you recommend any external software that works via time auto screen shut off?
I played about with these, but no difference seen:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Power\State\Suspend\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}
-change (Default) 4 to x (where x =1 = full power & x=4 no power)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Power\State\Resuming\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}
-change (Default) 4 to x (where x =1 = full power & x=4 no power)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Power\State\Unattended\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}
-change (Default) 4 to x (where x =1 = full power & x=4 no power)
Interesting. I noticed that in the State directory, there is also a key "BacklightOff". Maybe you can copy the Contents of it to Unattended and see what happens? But do it on your own risk!
