I was fooling around with a couple of programs and now I have lost half of my phone signal strength icon (only the left half is showing) and there is nothing showing to the right of it, which should be the speaker icon. If I tap where they should be the programs come up ok. So it seems like something is just hiding that portion of the tray.
The 2 programs I was using were ArielBattery and VjToggle. I tried deleting both but this did not bring back the missing icons so I reinstalled them.
Any suggestions?
Regards,
Fred
I'm going to ask a stupid question here.. Did you restart the phone?
Yup, tried that.

Well... the ROM upgrade went well - took just under 8 minutes and seems to have worked perfectly (great job!). So I started reloading all the stuff I had on the MDA before that.
At one point, SOMETHING must have conflicted or gotten messed up, because PocketBreeze seems to have simply disappeared off my machine, and the little notification message at the lower left of the Today screen (over the calendar button/text) will NOT go away. I can click it, and it blinks momentarily - but NOT message comes up, and "notification" remains.
With Wisbar Advance 2 running, I also see an exclamation "!" mark in the today screen title bar as well -- I can click that too, but it behaves the same way. NOTHING happens! I have soft reset several times. No change.
I uninstalled Contact Breeze and Pocket Breeze, and then manually went back in via Explorer and deleted the stuff that didn't uninstall properly. I used MemMaid to clean out bad links and registry keys. I soft reset several more times.
Still have the notification. There should be NO notifications -- and even if there were, I can't see them by clicking on the notification message.
Any ideas at all? Very frustrating... I have a nasty feeling I may have to wipe the machine and reload the firmware, starting from scratch again, if I can't figure this out.

Click to collapse
Arggggh! Finally found it. I started uninstalling programs, one by one, soft resetting in between. Sadly, it was after removing about 5 or 6 benign programs (and all their settings!) that the next one fixed the notification problem. It was SBSH "iLauncher". I have NO idea what it was trying to tell me, but while it was installed, I had a "permanent notification", and as soon as I uninstalled it, the notification disappeared and I can see the "calendar" button once again on the today screen.
Now...because uninstalls in WM5 don't really seem to uninstall much of anything, I've been manually going in and cleaning out all references to the old programs, because it seems that most of these cannot be reinstalled OVER the remains of their last install.
*sigh*
Some more uninstalls tonight, then sleep. Then hopefully, clean installs in the morning.
I did the upgrade, and everything went well except one thing:
The icons on the top left of the screen (volume, battery indicator, 1/2 of the signal strength indicator) are "cut off." Its like they're covered by something. Any ideas on how to get this back?
You must have done something after the update!
What you have to do is remove the following key in the register:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\
There should be a key called: "TBOpt", delete this and soft-reset your device!
Ran a registry wizard
I ran a registry wizard to activate "G" network access which may have done it. I wonder why this wasn't part of the T-Mobile ROM upgrade.
For some strange reason, HTC left more things out of their ROM's that can't be explained
The thing that went wrong in your case was the following:
You have to uncheck "Taskbar Date/Time". This option doesn't work in any AKU2.0 ROM
Hi everyone! Basically the whole problem is, as indicated in the heading, I have to soft-reset my T-Mobile Vario 3 if it's been charging for a long time. The same problem may sometimes occur when the handset is used as a modem for my laptop. A typical sign is when some icons on the taskbar (clock, start menu, etc) turn into strange green rectangles.
It let me down a few times with the alarm plus they couldn't get in touch with me from work I've searched through the forum and didn't find anything relevant. Will be grateful for any input.
Are you using the Batti battery indicator bar? I had a similar thing happen to my Tilt when using that program, had to uninstall it to make the freeze and glitched icons stop.
You're right! I've got Batti installed. I'll try uninstalling it. Thanks mate!
So i have been using the phone fine with no problems in the last 2-3 months but today the phone is behaving very strange. The signal bar now have exclamation mark displaying so i click on it and it says 'no service' and i don't whats wrong with it. I tried soft resetting the phone several times but it still displaying. Solution for this problem is welcome, however i would want to prevent from hard resetting as i have a lot of software installed and i don't want to loose them or else it will take a long time to recover. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Oops posted on the wrong section, sorry
does your contacts open up?
what programs have you ran or installed?
**Edit**
Nevermind, I am an idiot. I was looking in apps, and found it in the settings section... phew.
First off, I am new. And thanks to all for the useful info around here.
Now of course, for a problem: I think maybe I did something unfortunate.
I rooted my phone, killed all the at&t stuff with that titanium backup app. Was setting up my home screens, and decided I wanted the 'Battery Use' icon on a different screen, so I clicked it, held it and dragged it to the trash. However, I think I hovered too long and maybe uninstalled it... I didn't know that was possible, the app is still running, so I can access it holding the home button, but I can't find the icon anywhere, and I think when it quits running, it might go away forever.
So, can I get this thing back? Am I screwed? Is there an alternative? I really know nothing....
