[APP] G-Sensor Based touchscreen Locker 0.1.0.10 (Beta) - Touch Pro, Fuze Themes and Apps

After a month and a half with the TP, I really wanted a better locker. One that would if the phone were in a given position would lock the phone if I forgot to. I can't count the number of times that I made "Case calls" becuase my phone resumed while in my belt pouch. This application works much better for me than the others out there.
I am still working on the UI (it's a bit plain Jane at the moment, but before I clean up the look I'd really like to get some feedback on the application and Ideas for the final "look" of the application.
Here is version 0.1.0.10. the First stable public Beta.
Once G-Locker is loaded, if you turn the phone in a specific direction the locker will engage. Then with a "flick" of the wrist in the correct direction, it will unlock.
The initial defaults are:
To Lock: Turn the phone with either long side facing down (or gently flick to the side).
To Unlock: "Flick" the phone in a side to side direction.
To adjust the settings lock the phone then press the Settings Button (You have access to the button for 5 seconds before it disables)
Available settings:
Locking Direction
Unlocking Gesture
Locking Sensitivity (gives some control over phone angle required to lock)
Unlocking Sensitivity (Controls the acceleration force required to unlock)
Number of Seconds to wait before checking to relock the phone
Options to:
Lock the Phone on Suspend
Check if the phone should be locked on Resume
AutoStart (NOT IMPLEMENT AT THIS TIME)
Lock the Panel when Starting G-Locker
(sorry no documentation yet, it will be included in the next release.)

Great, let me try a couple hours and i will post some feedbacks later.
Thanks for your effort!

I'm trying it as well. But isn't it the same as sensorlock?

Mhm. But sensorlock developement ended. So I suppose it's best to continue it Althought I use TouchLockPro.

it's not work for me at all When i start it nothing happens

The software confused me... It only locks my taskbar and I really don't know how to unlock it. So I simply uninstall it (because my screen wasn't lock)
Between SensorLock and TouchLockPro, I prefer SensorLock, because it's more simple. If i can program, i would just go with SensorLock and add the option of light sensor lock and it will be a perfect software.

Eh. SensorLock didn't do it for me. I'd rather use TouchProLock because I just have to tap the center button 3 times to unlock it . I actually have PocketShield + TouchLock Pro. It replaced S2U2 + SensorLock. I don't use PocketShield as a lock really, more as a screen saver since it's simple and has notifications. It's easier for me to look at when I'm just checking my phone to see if I missed something.

Actually the Old adage "he who hesitates is lost" fits real well here. I started this project about 7 weeks ago (when I couldn't find anything on google regarding a sensor based locker). Unfortunately it sat on the back burner for the past 5 weeks while I worked on hunting down the power and heating issues I was having. Then I never really bothered to do another Google search (until today) seems there are a number of these out there. I have looked at sensorlock today, It is very configurable, but not really what I am looking for (More of If the phone is in a given position then lock it, I'll have to look at touch lock pro. At this point though I'm inclined to drop this project unless I really can't find something else that works (no need reinventing the wheel any further!)
(BTW, I disabled the full lock rountine (except for the taskbar) for the beta version so I would not have to do a soft reset ever time something didn't work correctly)
Should I decide to resume development, I'll post here then. Thanks for those that took a look at it.

Sensorlock is no longer developed and is not at all perfect, il'd use this over sensorlock if there was an option to only lock the touch screen on wakeup from call, which is broken in sensorlock

Dude! If only this could be integrated with TouchLockPro!!! I'd love you both! Might want t have a talk with ZuinigeRijder. He releases the source for TouchLockPro also. I really think that GLocker + TouchLockPro = best locker for g-sen phones on xda-dev

Love ur Tool
Hey ive testet your Tool!
Worked great for me! keep on your development please!!

this app sounds REAL promising, il keep my eyes on the thread to see how it goes.
nice work!!

dear all...

Gesture to unlock phone?

Is anyone aware of a program that will let you unlock your phone by using a gesture? Seems like TouchFlo should be able to do this, but it doesn't.

s2u2 (slide to unlock?)
s2u2 is too simple (a simple swipe across the bottom of the screen, besides the fact that it tells you how to unlock it RIGHT ON THE SCREEN).
I'm looking for a program that will unlock the phone if I make a more complicated gesture, such as drawing a backwards "S" or an "X" that starts from the bottom.
Any programmers out there willing to make an app like this?
This sounds really cool, hell maybe even having an option to preprogram a gesture. I'd be in on this.
That does sound cool. I don't password protect my phone but in a way this would be a simple protection mechanism.
Even something that locks it after XX seconds/minutes...
I agree. I'd love this feature. This could be done as a possible fork of S2U. Call it G2U. I'd still like to have the front screen of S2U.
i dont think this would be very hard with the S2U2 interface. i know you can easily adjust how far you have to slide the actuall slider, and im sure it wouldnt be very hard to make a different shape. You could also add a color that would blend in with the background and not be visible, this is easily dont already...
DUDE! You read my mind... I've been using a PPC H5555 for years utilizing the built in fingerprint reader to unlock the device.
I almost want to remove the security on my TILT because it is a hassle...
<<< Gesture to unlock will make the developer FAMOUS >>>
That would be beyond awesome.
OK, so it sounds like we're all in agreement that this would be a good thing.
Who's up to the challenge?!?
Has anyone sent a message to the guy that does the dev on SU2U. I think that would be a great place to start.

Good idea. I just PM'd him.
Jeff
I think this is a cool idea also. G2U would be a pretty interesting concept. I'm not sure if it could ever fully protect a phone, but it does make it harder, esp if it invokes upon start up and soft reset into locked status.
As an aside, in S2U2, you can change the graphics of both the slider and the slide path already. So, you could lock the screen and have an "invisible" slide to unlock button and path. I realize this isn't what G2U would be, and it isn't as secure as G2U would be, BUT it does provide a small measure of extra security. I might try this tonite. Not EVERYONE knows to Slide to Unlock!
microsoft already thought about that...i think thats one of the feature in wm7...(too bad it will take a hell lot of time to release )
Here's the reply I got from A_C, the developer of S2U2:

How about something that accepted hardkey presses & taps in quadrants of the screen & needed the sequence in the right order before unlocking?

Yeah, that would probably work too, but's not too much different than typing in a password to unlock. I'd like something more simple to perform.
Jeff
Has anyone talked to the person that made iTask? Maybe it would be easier to make it in flash lite, like what he does.
I'll give 10 bucks to whoever makes an app like this. Maybe a money pool, such as the driver bounty would be good. Anyone else want to pitch in?
EDIT: Make it 20 if you can edit it your own and customize it. Similar to writing using the transcriber.

Alternatives to standard screen locking

I'm looking for alternative ways to lock my phone's buttons and screen when I'm not using it. So far I've been using standard lock app (HTC Home plugin has a shortcut of a lock in the apps tab) and I'm not real happy about it.
I've tried S2U2 couple of months ago - but it didn't work for me for some reason. Searching the forum showed locked threads and some plugins for S2U2 but no real info about it.
What do you guys use? And where can I find a working version of S2U2?
Thanks =)
If you press the 'end call button' (which is red on my MDA Vario III) for a few seconds, it should lock your phone.
Yes, I do have that app. However, the unlocking is the same process as it is with standard WM method.
I've found the thread with latest S2U2, trying it out..
I'd like something that locked the phone (deactivate buttons & a security function), but that could be unlocked by pressing hardbuttons rather than swapping from buttons to screen.
I've got a demo version (in compiled basic using .NET 2.0), but it's not quick enough & still needs the code to allow for answering the phone if it rings. Anyone fancy converting it to something more native to WM6 (i.e. faster)?
S2U2 is what I use and I find it great. Can also be set up to keep GPS running.
Have you tried "Device Lock 1.2 by Matt Armstrong" its basically an extension of the device lock thats already on the phone (although having the standard device lock installed is not needed), with the added benifit of being able to configure via settings what happenes to the screen when run (blanked, suspend) and also allowing easy unlock (one press unlock) + more, does exactly what i need (except schedule/auto lock)....
Dark, did you disable directdraw? that might be why it didnt work for you

Revolutionized Touchflo

Looks like the new and revolutionized touchflo is here and from the looks of it, it looks super nice but costs money. Here's the link: http://www.ftouchsl.com/Default.aspx
If you've tried it out, please give us feedback.
The homepage gif doesnt really hilight the power of this tool.
Looking at the videos/infos is way more complete...
I'll give a try ony my Kaiser (the easy scrolling a-la iPhone is interesting)
Forgive my cynicism, but.... I can get my Kaiser to do finger scroll in most applications with TouchFlo. It doesn't look as smooth, but I was under the impression that had something to do with the shoddy screen refresh rate due to poor driver support (see stickies) and I am not entirely convinced that program is being demonstrated on a similarly crippled device...
Furthermore, the flash file on their front page seems to imply that they have some form of gesture recognition software running. The videos, however, do not demonstrate this, only the scrolling....
Dammit I need to be more trusting....
can our handicapped device handle this?

No you don't. Thank-you for raising these rather interesting points. I'd love to have this, but I wouldn't want it messing with my TouchFlo cube...I like the cube, its something cool to show people so they can "Ooooooo....AAaaaaaahhhhhhhhh...."
The device in the videos looks like an HTC P3600. It runs WinMo5 and uses a Samsung processor. I'd guess this doesn't run as nicely on the Kaiser.

Agreed, but you may find that the Qualcomm chipset (as used in the Kaiser) is undermined by the software support for DirectDraw thereby making the Kaiser appear slower despite superior hardware. If the software support was there, you may well find touchflo itself is as smooth as this program. Until I see vids of it on a Kaiser or confirmation that it is pukka, I wont be touching it.
I'm sure someone will try it and let us know if it is kosher soon enough.
Testing
I installed the demo.
Call me Placebo Pete, but I'll be damned if overall scrolling isn't smoother. PIE scrolls MUCH smoother, scrolling the file system is still a bit doggy, but smoother overall. I have Touch Commander as my "cube" launcher and its much quicker to draw.
Overall, there really may be somthing to look at here. YMMV. I'd be interested in what others think.
I also run PointUI, which also seems to have benefitted. PointUI has always been smooth because its still a bit bare bones, but now I'd say its downright spritely!
Does this product interfere at all the TouchFlow Cube? I have Slither's version. Should Cube be de-installed to run this program or are they fully compatible?

why wait for a video on a kaiser...isn't that what the demo is for...so you can try it for yourself rather than just speculate...not flaming, just saying...
If anyone tries the new FTouchSL app on your Kaiser/Tilt, please post your results here. I tried it (in demo mode) earlier today on my Tilt and experienced many a touch screen freeze. The settings area includes an option to disable TouchFlo, which I did...and when I'd test the new scrolling in PIE or Contacts, it would scroll (beautifully, I might add! Much smoother better than TouchFlo IMO) but would then freeze after just a few swipes. I'm curious if I'm in the Kaiser/Tilt minority when experiencing these bugs. Thanks!
I have not seen any freezes or lockups yet.

Given I just broke my phone (cracked the screen) and had to re-install I don't want to mess with it quite yet.
My main point was that for some people, even if they use this software it wont improve matters because of the driver issues. This might lead them to blame the software (PocketCM worked well on my Hermes, not so well on my Kaiser) when in reality the software is fine, it's the drivers that have problems.
Some of the posts here are encouraging, but I can't quite understand how the software would improve Nick's touch commander and pointui exprience.
If I develop some courage and find time I will try and install it with some before and after shots. I can't be a Negetive Nancy forever....
Does this software interfere with the Cube? Can they co-exist?
So I finally managed to install it :
- First attempt, the Kaiser was unresponsible. Shutdown / restart.
Then didn't find where to restart the welcome wizard...
- Uninstalled, reinstalled : now I follow the wizard
- Scrolling to line 50 is ok...
- Selecting multiple lines won't work.
- Gestures "down-up" ... unable to do it neither (cannot press exit nor next)
Start Menu still works (from the hard button), but I can't select anything with the touchscreen...
I tried from the Program icon to disable the app, no way... Still won't give my touchscreen back.
I'll uninstall it.

Is that the demo or bought version you tried?
Demo of course, I won't buy something that didnt convince me
Problems here too
Hi
It installed fine, but when I got to the "gesture" step in the config wizard it hung and I could no longer use the touch screen.
I restarted and all looked fine, it felt much more responsive but then the touchscreen stopped working again. I could still use the hardware buttons, so I uninstalled it and my touchscreen came back (after a further restart of course!).
I am using Dutty's V3 ROM, so perhaps there is some incompatability somewhere.
I have installed the demo, and I must say, there is a noticeable difference in the smoothness of the scrolling versus using the default HTC ftouchflo. Also I was able to complete the tutorial with no hitches. I had the cube installed at first, and I couldn't sense any conflicts between the two. This app will conflict with the scrolling feature of the HTC Ftouchflo (obviously), but after you do the tutorial and it brings you to the setup page it gives you the option to disable the default touchflo scrolling. I have yet to determine which gestures I would like to use, so I haven't configured those yet. Overall I'd say this program is a lot better than the one HTC supplies. I would gladly pay 10 or 12 bucks for it. I wonder how much it costs. hmm let's see.....
20 Duckets!!
I guess I'm gonna hafta play with it some more to see if i really want to lay down 20 bucks for it.

Philteale and Sebbes, sounds like we're having identical screen freezing problems. I think the scrolling - when it works - is a lot smoother than TouchFlo...unfortunately, it keeps freezing.

New Pointui Home 1.02b released with native support for smartphones

Can somebody test it on s730? Share your exprerience! Seems to me that it could bring more free RAM, more battery life, speedy reaction
Many new features, f.e.:
* smartphones support
* new black skin
* battery saving
* bluetooth switching on/off during call (also battery saving)
* speed increasing
http://pointui.com
Works well..sometimes a little bit slowly.
I'd locked my S730 by this tool.
Can anyone tell me how to unlock this?
New Features:
Lock screen can now be used on smartphones - you press up then down on dpad.
Yea, I have been using this SW for some hours and i love it!
Has some minor bugs. I cannot keylock the unit as ususal.
Then the home program shuts down. So I have to use the keylock that is built inn to this SW..
But now that I am used to this, it is actually better that the standard.
It also bugs up some times when using Comm Manager, I have not yet figured out when exactly this problem accures,
but Home then sometimes shuts down, and I have to restart the program..
But other than that its perfect. Fast, smooth fading menues, and looks great!

Thanks for your opinion, this SW little bit change the behavior of the HW, but according the programmer´s goal. The previous member contribution is typical, people does not like to read the manuals, sometimes problem is not problem it is a purpose how to use the HW effectively and users are lazy to read the changelogs .

I know what you mean
A little "Tip" if anyone wants to try this program on the S730.
I had to change the HTC Home settings "Time Out" to Never. Or else the it would go back to the original HTC Home after
10 minutes. (Depending on the settings)
Looks nice but too limited for my liking just yet.
Like, I want to be able to see the time AND appointments on the home screen, without having to scroll.
It should have more user-definable input, without having to get out a registry editor. It also needs some work to make it suitable for smartphones, like being able to add stuff to the icon bar on the home screen. Also, the application bar only shows icons in the Start Menu/Programs folder by default. I couldn't see any options to change it, or even a button to move back up the directory tree to where my icons actually are.
A working uninstall procedure would be good too!!
I agree with the mad ferret.
the customization is missing. for example where is the option to create a "favorite apps list"?
i really like its fast responsiveness!!! i wish windows mobile could develop something like that as native windows mobile software. so smooth and with such neat design. why cant they? are they ****ing retarded? instead we get slow menues and ugly lists like on phones of 1998. cant windows work with people wh o can create such amazing software and integrate it natively? cant they develop something like this themselfes? WTF
anyway, pointui is a very amazing piece of software. however, whenever i press "running programs" it freezes.... the update function doesnt work.
i prefer smarttoolkit!!
http://smarttoolkit.softonic.de/windowsmobile
Everything that's supposed to work with PointUI, works for me on my HTC S710/Vox. I do hope for more features and I am sure the developers are hard at work, but what it is now - it can only get better since it's amazing. I hope for it to run at system level, apart from that it's superb so far!
I've been using it for about a week now. I love the clean look, but I'm having one major issue. My number keys and my green key do nothing so I can't call any number that is not in my contacts without going back to the WM Home screen.
Anyone else have this problem? Or better yet, know how I can fix it?
But, yeah other than that I really like pointui. Hopefully the next release comes soon.

SPB Mobile Shell 2.0 (What do people think?)

Just curious what people think about this app? Currently I am using Slueth v3.0 and love it but am looking for a little more customizability.
nothing exciting for me
I think it is great I have stopped using Pocketplus and InesoftAddressBook. I am very happy with it, took me a couple days to really get used to it.

Me too
I think it's the best ready to use application. Install and enjoy
But on the now page, bluetooth and wifi state are missing
its ok not to wild about it
I tried it for 2 days and really like the fuctionality of it. BUT I had to remove it because it slows down the switch to phone enough that I have missed over half of my calls. It will ring only for about 5 seconds even though the caller can hear it ring for about 25 seconds. So even if I am fast in getting to phone it has already gone to voice mail. I removed it and now everything is back to normal.

I think u need to check your phone... I've had 2.0 since the beta leaked and no problems whatsoever! Runs smooth, doesn't slow down my device at all, everythings perfect.
To be honest the programs more for an "oooh" factor then functionality, it'll always be easer to pull out the stylus and do it the good old fashioned way. BUT it does help a BUNCH when driving...
To the original poster, theres a 14 day trial from SPB, why dont u try it, see what u think. U don't like it? then simply uninstall it.. no harm done.
i like the interface but one thing i feel that the smart gesture doesn't work on my tilt somtimes, i need to try very hard to call out the interface (something similar to alt-tab in pc)
overall, i am happy with the functions
The gesture works best if you start at the 'start' icon at the top and drag your finger to the middle of the screen.
I think it's a great program, I keep finding things I like. It works better than HTC's touchflo in my opinion.
Cheers
Its a bit of a step down in some cases, You cant have as many tabs as pocket plus, and you cant add more than one plugin. In fact I found that if you install SPB Mobile Shell and remove it from your home screen, that pocket plus allows you to add many of the unique Mobile Shell tabs but with more customisation such as adding additional content to the tab.
I quite like the quick screen you get while switching on from standby but it doesn't always work and seems to argue with the homescreen about who opens up, also it would have been great if you could literally have this screen as a homescreen. Rather than having a hybrid of the two.
Im dissapointed, I think there are much better innovations being made to homescreen customisation that this, and it looks very little different from SPB MS 1.0.
a bit bum then really.
See the long running thread in the general section.
Redundant thread, killed...
