Hi,
when i choose Programs from the start menu and change to the folder, a permanent scrolling appears. Impossible to tap on a icon i want. Same
action when i choose this folder in the file-explorer or resco-explorer.
Have anyone a idea for me how i can "switch" to normal mode please??
Kind regards
Pelle

Hi guys,
sorry for the silly question. I copied a new tool into a folder on my Kaiser. How can I add a shortcut to "Programs" so that I don't need to use the file-explorer to start the tool?
Thanks
Michael
Go with the file explorer to the file you want to make a shortcut off. Press and hold, then choose copy.
Then go to the start menu folder and hold your stylus in the map you want to make a shortcut. When the menu comes up you can choose "paste a shortcut".
OK, many thanks.
Michael
I have an icon from a broken program (CardExport) that is stuck to my Today Menu. I can't clear it. Is there a regedit or some kind of hack I can use to manually remove the icon? HTC Wizard and WM5.
TIA.
Do you mean it is under the Items tab when you configure Today settings or it it is one of the choices when you click on the Start button?
The dead icon is on the drop-down menu under the Start icon. It's one of the apps you can add to the menu for quick access. When I try to uncheck it in the menu settings list, I get a message saying "Unable to move that item."
Manually delete the short-cut from File Explorer. Windows\StartMenu folder.
Regards,
Carty..
I've recently applied the reg edit to be able to view 5 items per row on my programs folder which now makes that page quite usable as a launcher. Now I'd like to assign my left soft key to open up the programs folder.
I'm using Soft Key v1.3. When selecting applications for the key, what is the name of the Programs Application that, when pressed, will open up the programs folder (ie, same as Start/Programs)? I've tried many that appear to be it but none work.
I've searched and searched on xda and actually found a few results but none that worked. I've tried creating shortcuts, even found a 'folderview.exe' file to put into the windows folder but, when pressed it opens up the default programs folder of only 3 icons per row. It seems like this would be an easy thing to do but I'm stumped.
If this made any sense of what I'm trying to accomplish, can anyone help please?
Any news on this?
I've been searching for hours about this subject and didn't find anything.
I'm stuck with this also, folderview.exe does open the programs menu folder but doesn't render the 4 icons per row, instead it presents only the standard 3 icons/row.
Anyone knows how to overcome this issue?
Thanks
BUMP!
Does anyone have a solution to displaying the 4 icon layout in folderview?
Or is there an alternative way to display folders in the program launcher?
Cheers!
@ question 1:
Start Menu\Programs on Soft Key
I actually found an application that is even more flexible:
WM5NewMenu by Saman.cz
It does NOT mirror the above mentioned folder,
but even better: you can configure it just as you like.
E.g.: I created a few submenues (Main, System, Connectivity, Navigation, Utilities, Games) and added the most important prog links to each submenu.
Give it a try and spend some time.
Hey, it's freeware.
@ question 2:
4 Icons in a row
best use Schap's Advanced Config (I used 3.0 as 3.2 did not work).
Then under the 1. menu item "user interface"
select "horizontal icon spacing" and change value to "112"
select "vertical icon spacing" and change value to "115"
select "icon title font size" and change to "6"
... perform a soft reset and ... you're done
Thanks M_O_N_A_C_O, but that's not what we are after.
We know how to set the folder with 4 columns and we don't want a new menu.
What we would like to have is some way to open the "programs" or "settings" from a button or softkey (like WMguy post) and still be able to get it with the 4 columns display instead of only 3, which is what happens if you do it with folderview.exe
I want to make few folders or labels if possible with apps shortcut inside it, is it possible?
daily use>few apps inside this folder
gps> 4 apps inside this folder
photo
games
education
kids
multimedia
etc
Also I would like to rename the apps shortcuts which have long names, is there a way to do that?
Basically I want to remain quite organized on my home screen, as of now I have to browse a long list to reach the app or place the shortcut on 1 of the home screen but then I forget on which home screen the app is?
Sure,
Long press on your home screen, then folder (new folder - long press on it -> edit -> chose a name/icon). Then go in your app drawer long touch on the app, and finaly drag the shortcut in the folder you created.
Wao!, I didn't even know long press existed on blank screen, I did what you suggested & that solves my issue now I can organize my apps in a better way.
Thanks

Yw, just change the topic title as [Solved].
I can recommend Simi folders, its free and it allows you to customize your folders a bit. Also gives nice launcher options. like and iphone popup or transparent background etc.

So i've been trying to change the icons on my screen. Tired a few ways but it doesnt seem to work. When i'm on my home screen i hold one of my icons and press replace -> custom icon. i'm sure i have elegant themes and more themes installed from the market already, but all that shows up is ASTRO, bluetooth file tansfer, gallery and messenger withyou. Same happens when i use folder organizer lite to do it! I'm i doing something wrong?
thanks in advance!
Folder organizer works for me.
Open Folder Organizer > Apps > Press Drop Down Menu on any of Apps > Select "Icon"
and then select new icon from "And Explorer" or any other method.
after these steps
Go back to Home screen Long press on Home screen, Select " Widgets" > Scroll left and select "Folder Organizer Item" > Select "Apps" > Now Select the app that you have changed the icon previously. Thats it. New Icon Appears on Home Screen.
