I enabled Cleartype and now there are many places where I can't see the text, especially in landscape. Is there any way to fix this or is the solution simply to turn Cleartype off?
Yes, you aren't the only one..you could have put your question in the following thread.

To turn it off on WM6, go to Start > Settings > System (change bottom tab) > Screen > Cleartype (change bottom tab). Uncheck the "enable cleartype.." and you should be all set.
Hope that helps. Also, Kaisertweak program can be installed on your PPC, it gives you the option to disable cleartype.
Hope that helps

on wm6.0:
portrait cleartype works perfectly
landscape cleartype works perfectly
on wm6.1:
portrait cleartype works perfectly
landscape cleartype works like CRAP
use kaisertweak or advancedconfig (search for those nifty configurators) to disable cleartype in landscape if you are using wm6.1

whenever i use opera in landscape mode, the "display message on screen" in sounds and notification gets disabled. does anyone know how to disable automatic screen rotation?
Check this out...
Install this and in the settings screen, select the 'exceptions' tab, and where Opera is listed, put a tick in the portrait check box. This will force Opera to remain in portrait.
Not only that, this is the best app ever for handling screen rotation on the Diamond. It just works, and it's simple to set up
i installed it and it did work but it switched to landscape before it quickly switched back to portrait though. so that still causes the problem

There's a cab at the end of the thread.
There doesn't seem to be a manual screen orientation choice (landscape or portrait) in screen settings, there's just the auto orientation for certain applications when you turn it sideways. Sorry to keep harping on about my other phone, but as comparison, that does indeed have this feature, and I can change it back and forth from the today screen in a split second. This works well with things like tomtom if I want it in landscape for a larger and wider view, or generally if I want to view ANYTHING on the phone in landscape mode. So, unless someone can tell me if this feature is somewhere to be found on the phone, I was wondering, does it allow auto landscape mode for sat nav apps when you turn it sideways?
Auto orientation...
Use this application - by far the best auto otientation tool available for the Diamond. You can set it up to rotate every app not in the exception list, or only the apps in the exception list. Check it out
Or to change manually, install Advanced Config (you'll find it in the Themes, Applications & Software forum) - you can set it to show the orientation settings on your device.

Wow, flipping brilliant, it works really well!
There's several parameters but all I did was tick 3 orientation picture boxes in the Default 'My device should rotate these directions by default (non exceptions)' I've also ticked a box to make it give a short vibration just before rotation, and a tick for changescreen toggle in programs list.
Thanks, that's made me happier, works nicely with everything now including tomtom.
cheers for pointing me at that app, it rules, think I'll send the coder some pp money
I've installed Advanced Config on my HTC Touch Pro (WM6.1) and have set it up to auto lock after 25 seconds, which works fine. The problem, however, is that whenever it locks, the backlight is set to dim and it will not budge from there, unless I go into Windows' settings and manually readjust it up again. Then 25 seconds later, it locks and I'm back to square one. The only way I can get the default behaviour back again is doing a complete reset (i.e. clear storage to remove everything) and reinstall - but then I can't use autolock. I've tried the other backlight settings in Advanced Config and fiddling with every other Windows backlight setting I can find, but no joy.
Can anyone assist?
do a search for "dimbklinunlock" and see if that cab file fixes it for you.
Some have luck with it, but not mine. When mine dims, the only way to brighten it back up is to tap the on/off button.
Thanks, I tried that, but I can't find it anywhere (Google / Bing etc. also don't find it). Do you possibly have a link to the file? Unfortunately, the on/off routine doesn't work for me either.
What I really wanted from Advanced Config was the ability to Auto Keylock, but that causes the backlight problem. I've tried the application from Maniac, but that doesn't seem to work (probably because of the touchscreen; it works great on my old iMate SPJAS.
So, if anyone knows a way to get Auto Keylock to work using another application I can then just use Advanced Config for other functions.
Have you tried S2U2?
hi i'm using TPC v11 ROM, wm6.5.
this happens when i'm SMS/txting:
i'm looking for the registry keys to stop the automatic capitalizing. i already went to Start -> Settings -> Personal -> Input -> options. here i unchecked the "capitalzie first letter of sentence" but it still capatilizes it, what's going on?
also trying to disable the automatic periods it puts after you hit the space bar twice. is there a registry key or setting to disable?
thanks!
Hello everybody,
I've got a problem with navigation iGo 8.3 on HD2. When I wanna navigate, my display is going sleep after some time (about 10s). That interval is ok with normal use (in system), but not with navigation ofcourse. Is there any cab for "never sleeping iGo" please? I didn't found anything like that.... please help.
Thaks.
There's no cab file needed. just go to settings -> device settings -> power management -> change the default setting to "always on" and you're done.
