I really liked HTCs task manager, QuickMenu broke it, so I closed it, deleted it, and reset it and its still not there, do I have to re-enable it somewhere or something?
We Todd. So I needed to go into Start->Setting->Task Manager and check the buttons that weren't check heh.
I want them both to run together actually, Now i have to experiment again because it seemed like they wouldn't turn on at the same time.
I got them both working together! Now, I guess my next question is, I like the QuickMenus battery indicator with the % better then the default, crappy stock one, can I disable that one in lieu of the QuickMenu one? They both appear at the same time and I'm not sure how to get rid of the stock one in any settings.
I found this in another post, and I realize Im answering all my own questions but maybe someone else can use the info:
if you don't mind the time display instead of the battery icon, try this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell]
"ShowTitleBarClock"=dword:1 (1 shows clock; 0 shows battery)
The only issue with this is that I always get a "system message alert" and when I click it, it gives me a message with battery info, which I don't need at all, I'm not sure what part of QuickMenu makes it give you think info but its not needed but I can live with it so far.

Hi everybody.
Hopefully you all can help me out. I recently installed SPB pocket plus thinking I needed that for their Insight, but I now understand I don't. I went ahead and un-installed the pocket plus before i installed insight, and now the task option in the top right corner is gone on my Today screen. So I can't close programs individually or see whats running. Any ideas? Really don't want to restore a backup as I haven't done one since January. Thanks for any help! -Jeff

May have a solution for you but it may not be what you are looking for.
Here is quickmenu. Quickmenu basically sets your device similar to a PC's start menu. Once you install this cab you will find it under start>programs. After you click on the application you will notice a new start menu.
Possible solution: Start>click on quickmenu>option>X-button of screen:Long-press to close, short to minimize.
After you have this set up correcting, simply click start to view your open programs. Fairly simple I have been using this application since I received my Tilt and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Hope you enjoy it.
I installed a barebones ROM and found I really liked that task manager in the top right corner....
Do a search on this site for Task_Manager_2_0_30487_2.CAB, it is exactly what you are looking for AND has a couple of other features too.
The difference between this and Quickmenu is that this one doesn't have all the other stuff (although I use quickmenu)....
Hope this helps,
MBN
yea, I'm sort of looking just to get the original one back, I'm not sure what I should do. I guess if I don't have a solution I'll be forced to run a backup I did on sprite. Was hoping this was a common problem but i guess not
I had the same problem when I tried the demo out. After a little research on SPB's forums, it turns out that it is a known problem during uninstallation.
Unfortunately I don't have an answer for you on how to fix it. I was so PO'd that I went and hard reset the phone. I hope that SPB fixes the issue and I'd like to see how support is for WM6.1

I'm tellin' ya, try the one I referenced above, it has just the corner app but where the original has a couple of options above the list of open apps, this offers three little buttons: Close All Open Apps|Settings|Memory %.
This takes up the same real estate the other one uses... give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

I actually tried it, and I love. The only thing I don't understand is the functionally, all I can figure out as of right now that it shows memory usage, thats it. Anyway, thanks for the heads up! -Jeff
On Kaiser You can restore the today quick menu (in the upper corner): in the system settings find "X Button" icon - tap on it and there will be an option to turn it on/off. If its suddenly disappeared that can be becouse of something (e.g. 3rd application) turned it off. Thats happend in my case with SPB Pocket Plus on wm6.
Hi All,
I have a question. Every time I open a SMS/Mail the keyboard pops up automaticly while most of the times I only want to read the message.
It is making the screen smaller and it takes time.
Is there a way to solve it?
Further I did not find a way to have an audio/acoustical alarm when the battery is finished so in a call the phone will switch of at once and immediately without warning.
Do I miss some settings or .......
Thanks in advance for help, Remco
When you get the message...instead of opening it there...click on the inbox in the lower left area of screen and that will open it up without the keyboard...when you click on it in the envelope or sms screen...it opens it because it thinks you want to reply straight away.
Battery alarm??...dont think there is one to be honest. I havent seen anything in the notifications or alarm section of the phone...Shame really as it would have been useful to have some sort of alarm going off when the battery gets low or is about to die.

same thing here the keyboard pops up automaticly when opening message ?!
click on the inbox in the lower left area
cant find it ?
do you mean the notifications when new message comeup
yeah i also find it really annoying that the keyboard pops up automatically everywhere.
it was not like this on my old Wizard with WM5.
i looked around in the options but cant find anyway to not make the keyboard pop up automatically yet.
It's because you have no Hardware Keyboard, and as the OS assumes you want to reply, it's helping you out. You'd probaly find theres a bunch of people who love this feature as much as you hate it
Rory
lol
Why dont you just read it in TF3D? bt yeah as for the the battery sound you can go into sound & notifications and select to enable sound for 'Events' thats the best i can think of atm.
I also find it frustrating with the keyboard.
Can this be set with a registry key to not have it pop up.
If i need the keyboard I can klick down in the middle of the screen to bring it up.

Nope there is no solution to this problem. There will never be a solution to this problem.
DONT try and search this forum for a solution to this problem because searching for a solution to this problem will not find a single solution to this problem.
There IS NOT a cab installer available to fix this, just as there is NO registry entries available in this forum to solve this problem
There has in fact NOT been 3 Topics in the last week that have solved this same problem.
I suggest starting a few more new topics in the forum asking for solutions to this problem.
Sorry for the sarcasm but jeez how many times must the same question be asked in the same forum in the same week!!!!

Possible with (albeit commercial) pocketMax phoneAlarm.
Greetings Josh
Hi Folks,
Firstly the standard disclaimer: "Apologies to all but I have searched existing threads (and RTFM) and can't find a definitive answer to this noob-type question"
So here's why I'm feeling stupid. I can't seem to find an option to stop the weather updating except when connected to a PC, short of going into settings and manually ticking the upper box whenever I plug in the USB and unticking afterwards!
Data costs a lot on my tarriff but I lik ethe weather, even if it only updates via AS.
Grateful for any advcie as always folks.
Adam.
Same problem here, it's one of the main reasons why I don't use Touchflo. Everytime I just click on the weather page an error dialog appears (can't connect... blabla). Very annoying!
it is not only a noob question, but the answer is so easy that you should be ashamed of yourself and spent some time just looking at your phone.
ever heard of a thing called menu?
it is on the lower right in the weather tab. press it, a menu comes up, choose settings and you are done.
or...... go to the store an get a nokia.
This Right Here Is Revolutionary!!
Have you ever been out and about, and checked your task manager and saw that Activesync has started up randomly, and is running in the background sucking down your battery?
Then this is just the program that you need!
ASKicker is just a few different simple scripts that I molded together.
What does this do?
Well basically this program scans a registry location on your phone that tells your phone whether you have a USB cable plugged in or not.
Based off of that information, if you do not have the USB cable plugged in, then the script will close out of ActiveSync everytime it runs. When you plug in the USB cable (Or place the phone on a dock), ASKicker will then open ActiveSync and wait for you to unplug the phone from the USB cable so it can kill ActiveSync from running.
This should not affect push mail. I do not have nor use push mail, so everyone that uses it, please give me feedback if it does affect it. But according to everything I've read online about Activesync and push mail, ASKicker shouldn't bother it at all. Infact, that's part of the main reasons why I've created this solution.
What are the requirements?
Only two things are needed:
First and foremost you'll need this registry location:
HKLM\Software\OEM\USB
"Cable_In" "0"=No "1"=Yes
(My Vogue and TouchPro Have This,
So I'm Sure Most Of PPCs Have This!)
Secondly you'll need Mortscript.
You can get a copy of this
and the manual and a few examples
at the Download Link in my FAQ(Link In Signature).
Tested On:
* Touch Pro (CDMA) - Working
* Vogue (CDMA) - WorkingNotes:
This Is Still In Beta!
There are two shortcuts that are created in the start menu.
The first one is "ASKicker"
This shortcut will either start the script, or if it is already running, it will ask if you want to end the script.
The second one is "ASKicker Settings".
With this shortcut, you will be able to choose a few different things. There is an option to open the Instructions and ReadMe documents. You're also able to turn on and off the AutoOn at StartUp option(Default On). Aswell you're able to choose the amount of time that the script waits to run again, you're able to choose from either 5,10,15,20,25,and 30 seconds (Default 15).
**Please keep in mind the higher the amount of time,**
**the longer that ActiveSync could be open before the script runs again,**
**and also the longer that it could take for ActiveSync**
**to start up when you plug it into the USB.**
This is VERY light weight.
The biggest part about this program is the Instructions and ReadMe Word Documents and the Icon Dll.
Coming Soon:
Custom user input for the amount of seconds the script waits to run again.
(Currently only have a choice from the presets).
App-To-Date Support.
Better User Interface coming later.
Rapidshare Download Mirror.
PPCGeeks Thread!
This Program has been completely reworked.
If you have any problems what-so-ever, let me know ASAP!
Reserved.
(Just because everyone else does it.)
I will be keeping a to list at both PPCGeeks and XDA-Developers with the different requests.
Can't guarantee I will incorporate them, but will try my best to when I have the time.
Possible To Do List For Next Version(s):
What's listed in post #3.
Hey man -
Any chance you can make this into something which runs Activesync once a day or something? A lot of folks here use AS for Google Calendar, and it makes no sense to sync every 3-4 hours (which is the max allowed) when all we want is once in the morning or something. The rest of the day AS just sits there and eats our batteries.
And maybe have the functionality of syncing using GPRS and not strictly USB.
THANKS though - was really looking forward to some AS tweaks.
I don't have GPRS so I'm kind of screwed on that part.
(I have a cdma phone.)
but I can try and see if I can figure out the stuff needed for that through the internet.
Also, I think I have an idea on how to do that first part (the once a day)
when would be the best times for everyone? like midnight, one am? etc.
(I'll eventually make more times once I get the hang of it!)
fixed the initial problem. forgot to replace a file with a newer version.
woops.
Can you describe the problem this application is solving?

Do you ever look at your task manager and find that activesync start running out of no where, then this is what you need.
I'm not sure if this is more towards CDMA version of phones,
but there has been tons of posts and threads started because of this and they wanted a way to stop that from happening, well that's what this does.
it's a SMALL script that runs and stops it from hogging up your memory or wearing down your battery.
All of the fixes for this problem have eliminated push email from working,
or eliminates activesync from working on the phone period(even when connected to computer). etc.

How about 24 hours from the last time it's launched (automatic or manually)? If that's too much of a hassle, midnight is just fine.
FYI-
The way I do this right now is to choose sync every 4 hours for peak and manually for non-peak and set the peak-time as 12-1AM.
The problem still is that the rest of the day - it's eating eating eating ... battery.
For me, to get rid of ActiveSync always starting, it was enough to remove all of Notifications (with Dotfred's Task Manager) except the one for RNDIS, and setting following registry key: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync\KeepAlive to 0.
Cody which version should be used on a sprint touch. I downloaded them all, but not sure which one to install on the phone.

All versions can be used.
The vXXS at the end of the names mean v=version
XX-the amount of time it waits to loop the script again.
S=seconds.
so if you want it to check every ten seconds get the v10s,
every twenty seconds get v20s,
and so on.
Battery consumption with AS

There is some debate about how much resources AS uses when running in the background. Some say practically none. It just seems reasonable that ANY program (including ASKicker) will consume SOME resources (memory/battery).
I did some tests on my Tilt using the Battery Guard program to measure the battery drain at any particular time.
According to those measurements, AS appears to be consuming about 20mA of battery during its idle time. Your mileage may vary. See the full results here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4078369#post4078369

But then you wouldn't have meeting reminders, nor automatic updates say to your weather software, rss news, etc, right?
I would really like to get this working on my tilt.
I use codyppc personalizer which I believe uses Mortscript too.
After I installed askicker and it didnt appear to be working, I installed mortscript 4.3b2. Now (in advanced task manager) I show two processes of Mortscript.exe running, one in \program files\mortscript and one in \program files\personalizer. Is there a conflict here?
Active sync is still running. Does Mortscript have to be installed in a specific place for this to work?
Thanks in advance.

I just replied to your message with this same exact thing.
I forgot about this thread.
I have been REALLY busy lately,
and hurt my back at work,
so I've been out of commision on here for a while.
I plan to have it finished and fixed by friday/saturday.
But it might be delayed depending on my website I have to get finished ASAP,
and I've already been put a day behind schedule with the website after I came up with the friday/saturday deadline.
So only time will tell.
Sorry it's taken so long people.
This was in hardcore beta stage when I initially released,
and had a BIG problem with my cab program and computer,
and it's just been one thing after another. haha.
so yeah, this will be done friday/saturday hopefully.
cant wait till this is fixed so I can use it on my TouchPro and Titan!!!
Active Sync Master
i couldnt sleep all night trying to figure this out. THANX ALOT!!
I thought no one wanted it, but I have been messing with a UI for it,
that way you'll be able to specify the amount of seconds between each time it runs, and a few other things and will be able to update with future components that I am working on myself.
I have about another week of summer left, so hopefully I can get my website I've been working of FOREVER(I've been going wakeboarding and going out too much). but I want to fix this sometime this week!!
Just thought I'd update you all!
Sorry I've been MIA from alot of my forums lately.
Bump!!!
This is new!!
Just got finished!!
Read all of post one before commenting please!!
Cool, thanks cody, was wondering what happen to u. Are u still making a custom rom for the vogue too, or have u been too busy.
NM on the vogue rom. I see where u don't have a vogue anymore.
Ive ended up with stupid issue here, basically I replaced my digitizer with a cheap ebay one and made a mess of it, so now my touchscreen doesnt work. Ive been ok with that until today I flashed the rom to unlock the phone and the first screen pops up with "Please tap the screen to set up your device" or something similar. Thats something I cant physically do so if anyone knows a way around that I would LOVE to hear it
Cheers.
Not yet
People will recommend using tools such as mymobiler and such, that enable you to connect to your device over the PC using activesync.
It does work, for the first tap only. The screen alignment after that is where you are boned, I find myself in the same situation.
Try researching for registry keys that can be modified, as programs like Soti's Pocketpro will allow you to modify registry keys. I'll post if I find anything similar.
search for and read about "welcome.not". the idea is to create a blank file named "welcome.not" on your storage card so the phone chooses to skip the screen alignment wizard on first boot up.
The "solution" may be:
Try flashing one of Witschey's ROMs, because he does not include neither screen alignment nor apps setup in the ROM, so that you'll access the device after flashing, no need to soft-reset nor anything.
The question is, what are you going to do if you can't touch the screen ?
Well, i can do a few things that I need with it. Use it as a phone for a start
I get a free upgrade soon so Ill go with the hero or an iphone but until then I will need a phone and an mp3 player. You can still kind of use google maps even for GPS its just tricky. I did manage my way around London with it lol.
Thanks for the tips anyway guys, Ive tried deleting the welcome file already today but the device kind of locks after that in that you cant really see any icons, even tried 2 roms with it. I will give that Witschey ROM a go though that sounds like it could be the answer to this.
welcome.not
Welcome.not file worked for me, but I did not put in on a SD card, just in the root of the device after MS does activesync.
My computer<device<double click<paste
Took the battery out, turned it on, presto.
Thanks for that!!
No need to reflash, was cool.
Well I tried a Witschey ROM and its working great! Thank you afn961 for that one. It runs very fast indeed as well compared to the stock T-mobile WM6 I had on there. Only issue I have now is that I cant access some menus without the touchscreen, worst one being the running programs menu so stuff just stays open. Cant win em all though.
quite a few cooked ROMs these days are built so that the screen alignment wizard is skipped and it won't show up unless you invoke it explicitly.
i suggested the "welcome.not" approach because it is known to work in terms of skipping the screen alignment wizard and i thought you wanted to stick to the ROM you had because it was to your liking, else i'd have suggested one of the ROMs mentioned in the first paragraph.
finally, you CAN manage running applications using one of the many third party task switchers. i will suggest "showcase" or "taskfacade". the idea is to map your PTT button to invoke the task switcher. not sure if the following will work properly but you can set the default htc task manager to close applications (instead of minimizing them) when you press OK. so you can press OK to exit the foreground application or you can invoke the third party task manager to SWITCH to another application. that way, you get multitasking AND the ability to close the applications you don't need.
check it out and let us know how it goes, good luck!
