About storage

Hi,
I am sorry if the question is obvious but I don't know what is diference about storage and main memory to install software.
The soft that I decide install in storage does not need reinstall after hard reset?
Regards
Bye
Hi..
storage=ROM
Main memory=storage memory, wich is part of RAM
Program memory=RAM(random access, like RAMs used on pc)
RAGO
Thanks,
Then, I supose that the soft that I decide install in storage does not need reinstall after hard reset?
Bye
Your device has two types of memory, Flash-ROM and RAM
The Alpine has 128mb of RAM and 128mb of Flash-ROM
Flash-ROM is non-volatile, just like an SD Card it needs no power to keep the data on the chip, think of it like a little hard drive (It is often refereed to as "Disk on Chip")
RAM needs power to it to keep it running.
The Operating System for the device is stored on the Flash-ROM. When you hard reset your device the Operating System is read from Flash-ROM and installed to RAM. But the operating system on the Flash-ROM does not use the full 128mb, only about half of it.
So you can use the free 64mb of the Flash-ROM as Storage. On the Andies, that is how it comes from the factory, but on some other devices you have to "Unlock" this free space.

this is right, but although it's files still exist there after a hard reset,u will not be able to open it from start programs, because the hard reset u performed has deleted the shortcuts...therefore,all u have to do after a hard reset is to locate the .exe file of the software in the storage, copy it,and go to windows/start menu/programs and paste a shortcut....this method also applies to softwares installed to SD or MMC....(note that not all the softwares will work, some of them install drivers and other files in windows directory, meaning that a hard reset will erase those files, required for the software to run)....
RAGO
Many thanks again

Internal Storage ?

Hello Guys,
I did a hard reset my Diamond and installed on it Elite 2.0
I then noticed that anything I placed in the internal storage was not deleted after the hard reset.
Can someone explain this to me ?
what's the difference ?
where should I install the softwares I want ?
thanks a lot guys.
You can install software wherever you want - but some may not work properly after hard reset as it need registry keys etc ... . Internal Storage is not erased after hard reset. It`s because of lack of microdrive slot so you can make your backups to internal storage when are you going to do hard reset. If you want to clean Internal Storage you can do it from Settings menu.
And finally if you used search you could find all this info here as this was mentioned several times.

GoogleMaps or TCPMP on internal storage ?

Hi,
Does anyone have ever install GoogleMaps or TCPMP on the internal storage of the Diamond ?
Whenever I tried to install them on the internal storage, they keep install themself on the internal memory of the diamond.
I've look into the cab and I've notice that the path is %ProgramFiles% ....
Don't tell me that nobody ever tried to install TCPMP or GoogleMaps on their Internal Storage
It seems that none of my programs are installed on the internal storage indeed, even if I choosed that option at setup...
Ok, so it's not a "only my Diamond" issue
Maybe a "all Diamond" or "Orange Diamond" issue ...
I'm gonna test on my old Prophet tonight.
Interesting...just checked my install (supposedly to Internal Storage...) and its on the device!!!
googlemaps wont install on anything except the device memory, even if you tell it to do otherwise. this is a google issue, not a diamond one
I have copy them to the internal memory, and delete them from phone. Then I make new shortcuts and I have place them to windows\start menu\programs.

Strange problem with disk space on Diamond

Hello everyone. I have discovered a strange problem on my Diamond. When I try to transfer something to Internal Storage from the PC (a MP3 file , for example - a very small one) I get the "NOT ENOUGHT STORAGE SPACE" error on my device.
I have checked the properties in the Diamond, and apparently the 4GB disk drive is recognized properly (i have 3 gb of memory free).
I tried to flash another stock WM 6.1 ROM and a hard reset, with the stylus, but no luck.
Do you know what could be wrong ? And how can i fix it. Thanks!
nobody ? its very annoying, because i cannot transfer anything to my device.
have you tried on another computer ?
also try hard resetting along with formatting your internal storage aswell....you get an option for that in the hardreset menu.
or u can go to the settings and format your internal storage from there
just try
thanks for your reply.
i tried on 2 computers, but same thing happened.
i will give it a try with the internal storage format, and later today i will post the results. thanks!
clear your browser cache, cookes, and history. Fixed my low storage memory problem.
