I am sure I have disabled all the AT&T data services by deleting all the MediaNet etc. settings through connections, and I have also toggled modaco nodata to disable everything.
When I connect Tilt to my laptop computer, it connects to internet automatically.. and when I disconnect, the internet is gone!
just out of curiosity? how is it possible? is the USB connection making use of some advanced feature here?
Yes. If activesync is on it is patching the computers internet into the phone via its USB connection.
Interesting.. thanks a lot.

When ever I connect my Tilt to the laptop and activesync is on, wifi is disabled on my phone, even though I have "allow wifi on device" checked...any ideas?
Not to familiar with tilt, but you should try using the htc comm manager.
I do recall having connectivity issues while my kaiser is connected to the comp but turning wifi on(manually), then connecting it gave me no problems. Htc comm manager makes it easy to manually turn on/off wlan and other devices
is that the same as wireless manager in connection settings?
Hmm dont have "wireless manager" in my kaiser connection settings.
But if your allowed to turn on/off wlan i guess you dont need the comm manager(even though its the most awesomess thing ever)
I'm having the same problem with my Kaiser.
I tried changing the 'this device connects to' setting in the connection properties of activesync, but that doesnt change anything. Also, when making a phone call the WLAN connection will be disconnected. After finishing the phone call, the WLAN connection is being re-established.
the option is not to allow wifi, but allow wireless connections to the GPRS network for VOIP and mms etc. Has nothing to do with Wifi.
This is normal. My advantage does it as well, and is likely one of microsofts usual unwanted changes 'for security reasons'!
Sorry, this may be a dumb question...
How do you stop the Kaiser from accessing 3G (or WiFi) whilst connected to a PC via ActiveSync. So, duing the day it would use 3G, however when connected via ActivSync at night it would use the PC connection to the internet for all downloads, MS Exchange sync, etc
thanks!
There is a setting in activesync that will disallow all 'wireless' connections while the device is connected. In this case, I believe they mean 3g, gprs, wifi, etc. will all be disabled. It is under 'Connection Settings'.

For me, i would like the reverse.
I'm setting up activesync to connect to Exchange servers (mail2web), but in the connection settings, i can only see the choice "Internet" and nothing else (ie. my GPRS sets)
Thus, I can only get emails pushed to me when i am on WIFI, but not GPRS.
The only way i can make it happen is at START/SETTINGS/CONNECTIONS where i set "All programs that automatically connects to internet .." to my GPRS set, but not "MY WORK NETWORK"
but if i set it to my GPRS set, if i were to accidentally surf web when wifi is not on, it would incurr GPRS charges ..
any idea?
On the same topic...
I used to be able to surf the web on the HTC 8125, using the laptop's internet connection, using the USB cable. I can no longer do this? Any ideas? What happens now it that it the phone conects to GPRS automatically, apparently it can not detect the internet from the laptop...
Thx in advance.

is this setting perhaps the setting you need to turn on on your pc?
this allowed me to be active sync connected to my pc but the phone browsed via Cell Service rather than via my pc.

If your service provider uses a proxy setting on your phone to connect then you have to set up the same proxy in your web browser on your laptop.
I am having a problem that when i connect my phone to my work PC my media net 3g quits working.
I have changed the option in advanced connections, server selection, to use media net on both options but i am still getting no 3g/edge etc. Everytime i sync my phone it tries to use my PC connection as the active internet source.
What i want is to have my phone synced but still use my phones 3g internet on the phone and my LAN for my PC.
Can anybody help me figure out why my phone's internet is replaced by my PC's?
Thanks!
Under "Connection Settings" do you have the box checked that says, "Allow wireless connetion on device when connected to the desktop"?
Yes i do. And when i partnered with active sync i selected the option to allow internet calling etc.
It has to be a background issue. Afaik all the options are correct.
After a little further reasearch it appears that when i connect my phone to the computer the proxy server is changed to my work proxy. If i over ride it to the correct cingular proxy it still does not work.
Any help on this? It's getting annoying. It worked fine for a week then just quit working.
So my laptops internal wireless card gave out, and while I don't mind using 3g.. wifi is a little faster, so is there a way to use that instead of 3g? I do not see it as an option in the internet sharing app.
thanks
hmm, i think ICS could do that.......... connect via wifi then connect ICS with USB or bluetooth..... hmm, i was thinking wmwifirouter could do it but i am not sure
already tried that. I think that wmwifirouter is for sharing 3g over wireless
simple..I do that all the time.
Turn off Data Connection
Turn On WiFi
Turn On Internet Sharing
..wah-la !
i tried that but under network connection wifi does not appear and it tries to connect to 3g?
I know we can simply connect my HTC via my wireless connection,
but is there a way, presumeably if we want to connect our phone
to the internet via PC. anyone care to share the tricks? thx.
I have two ways to go on internet on XPERIA (GPRS and WIFI)
When i connect my X1 with pc via USB cable i enable Interet Sharing. So i can go to internet on my PC via XPERIA.
Problem is that i can only choose GPRS connection. There are also Bluetooth and COM3 stuff but that is irrelevant. There is no Wifi connection.
Any ideas
I have the same problem. I can connect to my router, but when I´m opening the opera or explorer the phone connects to gprs. And I can´t choose wifi either. Strange.
Have you tried manually creating a Network Connection? I can see 4 different connections avaialble in the drop-down box, including one I'd created myself with the 3g settings of my operator.
Using that one, I see the "H" icons in the top bar.
